Community Insight:
This game is awesome. Great dialogue and immersive world. We just wish we could use a game pad. We really hate screen swiping. Please include mifi in the next update.
This game will grab hold of you and not let you go. It rewards you in meaningful ways, has great story elements, dense world, and so many expansions you will never run out of things to do. Buy it, you wont regret it.
Love the game so far. But could you please fix the glitch with the Bones of St. Vastar quest. We brought the fake bones to the woman and after that she disappears. There's no way to finish the quest now. We'd even be happy with failing it. We just want it off our quest list menu. Lol Other than that, we recommend this app to any old school D&D gamers.
Absolutely lovely game with tons of great storyline, great character customization, and lots of expansions available.
Hardcore RPG good game but not for us.
First off we have to save we really really really love the depth of this game, sure, some of the quests are a pain in the bum to figure out how to approach them and the fact that you have to read everything can be a pain but hey, this game kicks all kinds of butt and it honestly is up in our top 4 open world RPGs (the order being Fallout 4, The Quest, Daggerfall, and Oblivion). If you liked the elder scrolls games before morrowind you will definitely love this game, controls take time to get used to and you will die a lot in the beginning but hey, this game in our honest opinion, could have a $20 price tag and we'd still buy it! We hope to see more open world RPGs by this developer in the future. Thank you for the time, effort, and soul you have put into this game developers.
This is so fun we have never played a mobile game so fun!!!! It has all the action and adventure that you would want but it would be amazing if they made a second of this game where there is better graphics the gameplay itself is awesome same with the story just please keep the innkeeper betting the same because that is Funnn!!! Just please update this game Thank You.
A really great game, cool main quest, but we haven't found many side quests. They aren't great either. And we can't murder innocent people boo! Overall pretty fun though.
This is the best support that we have ever received from an app developer period. This is an essential iOS game. Buy it now.
This game is epic. We don't usually review iOS games but being there was only 1 review for this game and its negative so we felt like we needed to let you guys know how good this game is. Yes it's an older game so of course the graphics are gonna be dated. But the amount of content here is amazing, especially for an iOS game. And it's really good content. If you are a fan of old school RPGs like wizardry, or might and magic, you need to buy this now.
Not worth the money. It's boring and badly animated.
One of the best RPGs on the iPhone, with deep content. Well worth the money. Amazing support. Look at the version number – 18.6! Don't play freemium crap, play this.
To be honest we didn't know what to expect when we bought and started playing this. We had seen a video of a few minutes of gameplay but we didn't expect this game to get us hooked like Skyrim to it so quickly. We are really impressed with this game because it seems almost like you are playing a 10/10 ranked game from a console when u are not. If u like the Elder Scrolls series, old school rpg open world games, or just want to have a unique experience with a game on IOS then look no further. Also, no internet or cell service is required to play and save in this game which is awesome.
The Quest is an awesome sandbox style game that allows you to explore where ever you want to go. It's our favorite RPG on iOS.
We wish u could find more games in the App Store like this. No in app purchases , old school rpg format. Doesn't need an Internet connection.
This has always been one of our favorite games, and we would love if this could be converted so as to be playable on our computer. Please see to this! Brilliant experience. If you haven't bought it, buy it now.
We got hooked on classic rpg's as a kid while watching our uncle play Might & Magic VI on his old IBM desktop computer. The whole aesthetic of the game charmed us in a way that no modern first person rpg has been able to recreate. If you liked M&M 6-8, or The Elder Scrolls II Daggerfall then this is definitely a series for you. We're blown away by the level of detail, love, and depth in this – a game that was originally designed for freakin' Palm Pilot PDAs! We plan on beating this and then gladly purchasing every single expansion – Redshift is doing a wonderful thing with this series. So what are you waiting for? Quit reading and but that "Buy" button already.
This game is great if you're looking for something classic like Daggerfall the turn based combat is better than expected and we love playing this game besides CoC this is the only game we really play.
Throw your money at this game. Its worth it. We're dont look no further this game will give what your looking for. Im guessing you want an elder scrolls game or a dragon age type game with lots of exploration and side quests and cool monsters. This is it, there isnt more to say. If you want a portable skyrim this isnt it but man its pretty close.
We started playing this game and its expansions when they first came out, and we're still playing today. So many quest, and such beautifully drawn screens. Old school on the go. We've down loaded hundreds of other apps but always come back to The Quest. If you are reading this Redshift, please don't stop making expansions.
Mobile gaming is crap, and that's a fact. This game wowed us in every turn of the adventure. Better storyline than all elder scrolls games besides morrowind, excellent turn based combat system, plenty of non-terrible DLC for more, and very challenging. 10/10 best thing that's happened to mobile gaming.
Pickpocketing feels a little useless, but that's it, fantastic and engrossing game.
We don't know how it's not more popular.
This game has shocked us, it was put together very well, is an intricate and daunting RPG, and for a mobile game, is almost more than we could hope for. Keep up the good work Chillingo.
Ok yes the graphics are a bit old but it really good. If you like elder scrolls you will like this game. It's got this huge massive world for you to explore. Lots of side quest and a good story line. Many items to equip and potions to make. Plus tons of expansions for just this game. There's so much more things in this game but that would take a while to tell. If you bye this you will get your moneys worth (if you like RPGS).
Great game but we feel it needs more expansions and more bug and text fixes.
EDIT: we have had this game for many years now. We are still amazed at its quality, and what's more? The developer is constantly releasing new game content, and updating existing content. This is a game that has honestly carved out a permanent place on our phone. What more could you ask for? This game is an RPG that is fully functional. You can speak with anyone, you can steal if you're lucky, and there are even many little things to enrich the game's world. When you knock on a door, you can hear some very interesting things. The graphics are perfect for a game of this type. They're 3D enough to get a sense of position, which is something a lot of other RPGs fail to accomplish. As the game is turn-based, it is not too fast for people to use good strategy. In fact, we've found that the diversity of magic in the game adds some very nice elements to the mundane 'bashing' game. It's challenging enough if you push too hard, but not so much that it can't be done. And if you die just reload and try another strategy. The card game is fun, even though it seems to be just another fleshing-out point of the game's rich world. There are a multitude of items, spells, potions, races, abilities, 'enchanting' options, and literally a whole land to explore. There are seemingly hundreds of side-quests (we're not actually sure, as we're certain that we've missed a few). Even before you finish the game, we guarantee that you'll want to start a second just to try out a few different races. We've played a lot of RPGs out there but we have to say, that the number of hours that we've already put into this game have made us quite happy with it. We're not just 'blowing time' with this App. We're truly enjoying it. This is our first app review. We have hundreds of apps here, and this is the only one that we feel deserves the praise. We're sure there are a lot of reviews that may be helpful in this, especially with an app that costs money. But we honestly believe this app to be worth a lot more, and we would not hesitate to pay full price for this app, even when compared to many games on other systems. Thanks guys; keep up the good work.
The Quest is a effectively a turn based 3D open world role playing game. That being said, you'd think this game would be a dime a dozen, right? Well no. The AppStore is utterly lacking in the RPG department compared to other similar application networks, especially ones that have the kind of depth needed to keep it on your system for more than 2 hours. The Quest, however, somehow delivers on this in a spectacular way. Now, we can't speak for the DLCs, but the main game is HUGE and worth the time to explore and build in. Open ended class system reminiscent of Morrowind and a world to boot give the game something that RPG players can hardly find in AAA games for PC these days. Given the time, The Quest will keep you entertained for as long as you want it to. Our only true gripe can be chalked up to the low visual fidelity considering this game has been available since we had our original iPod Touch. A little update in that regard would bring some new life to this already lively and fulfilling role playing experience.
We enjoy the game; there really needs to be an iPad version though.
Our favorite iPhone game, hands down. Great rpg character system, great story and amazing detail and atmosphere. Even the detail in Easter eggs and references are impressive.
Idk what u mean by responsible enemies. The only thing we would change is make it easier to increase ur magic resistance. Im a Rasvim so we naturally have -50%.
Super addicting! Classic RPG game. We love it.
This game is amazing, but it would be even better and more popular if you added responsible enemies! Please.
We got an iPod recently, and was craving an in-depth rpg, as close to Elder Scrolls as possible. We could care less of the graphics. We tried Infinity Blade and stuff, loved it, but it wasn't what we wanted. We came across "The Quest" and was very interested. We bought just the main game. We were in shock of how much fun we were having. Reminded us so much of Elder Scrolls. New players to it will catch on quickly. Controls: Don't play horizontally. It's much easier if you play vertically with the button controls on. Its pretty easy to get used to like this. Graphics: If you are expecting Infinity Blade graphics, then this game isn't for you. Its a 3D game, but the visuals are drawn out, so in a sense it is semi-3D. If we show our friends the graphics, thats what seems to be the let down. We actually like the graphics. They are very well drawn and the style is cool. Map: we ourselves haven't explored the whole map, but its pretty big lol. It's cool because you can buy other quests for the game that can be added on to the hugeness of this game. We haven't yet tried an add on yet though. The terrain is flat though, so don't expect big mountains to explore. You can go in caves and under the ground though. Combat: It's turn based combat. It really isn't a bad thing once you get used to it. The combat system makes you and lets you think. Make sure you train before you fight hard monsters or people, you WILL get frustrated. Level-up System: It's a pretty cool system. Gain exp from defeating enemies, or doing quests. After reaching a certain amount of exp, you level up, and have the ability to choose what specific things you want to improve. Very similar to Skyrim in a sense. Card game: Whenever you go to an inn, where you can sleep or buy food, you can also play a card game in which you can bet and get money from. Its a very simple, take turns card game, in which you want to deplete the opponents HP. It's very fun and a good way to make money in game. Quests: This is the last thing we are going to go over, mainly because we don't want to give everything away, and so we don't seem like a nerd haha. The quest are cool, and there are many of them. You have a main quest, which is like the objective of the game. It is not required to complete, similar all the quests. You win money, exp, or fame by completing them. Occasionally you will win an item. They can be vague at times, which can be difficult, so make sure you read all you can. We hope this very long review helped you out. Watch out for the occasionally mature items in the game. It is a great game.
Like a small, touched up daggerfall. Card game is particularly brilliant.
A little confusing at first, but after a bit you get the hang of things. Not the first to say but, in many ways it feels like a turn-based version of Skyrim. Awesome that it's still being updated! Way to go people.
We love it. Its fun and hours of gameplay can be spent on it.
Elder Scrolls fans will be right at home. This is how RPGs should be done for IOS. Even when you complete the game, there always putting out new expantions.
The best most in depth complete RPG you'll find on a mobile device. We're talking a level of depth and complexity rivaling console games like skyrim. We have put in at least 75 hours of terrific game play. Just overall phenomenal. We'd appreciate some sort of add-on package deal, just a thought.
Man, we've got to say. Hands down, this is one of the best RPGs made, console or mobile. The people of RedShift really outdid themselves. Fourteen expansions? Yes, please! We've been playing this pretty much since it first came out, and when we had a hiatus for about a year, we came back to find all these expansions! There is one "issue" we'd like to mention. We put it in quotation marks because it's not all that big a deal: iPhone 5 resolution support. Certainly not a deal-breaker, but it would be fantastic. The only reason this isn't updated, we assume, is because it's no longer trending.
Please add iPhone 5 screen resolution support.
We are currently in the dungeon that is underneath the lake of brendon, we cannot move forward until we get the magic barriers to disappear, and we have no idea how to do that. We also can't move back because there is no freaking ladder!!!!!! So we're stuck down there for eternity until someone helps.
It is the most hardcore and classical RPG on iOS. We are playing it and expansions for 3 years. You,guys, doing awesome! Do not listen to anybody, who says opposite:).
It's fun. But is it really hand drawn? And we think that its a bit hard to kill one enemy there should be a difficulty bar. Like in that game elder scrolls. Ill add a five star rating as soon as you add these features. Till then, EVERYONE GET 'aralon sword and shadow' For a better gameplay experience.
Please please with cherries on top.
If you like old school RPGs like daggerfall and arena then this game is for you, the difficulty is good, you will die, and regret not saving soon enough love it AND All ITS 20 SOMTHING EXPANTION PACKS.
By far the best rpg on the app store. Sure, the graphics are hand drawn, but that's what makes this game so awesome. It is a great substitute for skyrim. This is one of the few role playing games on the app store that take after actual role playing games. 10/5 *.
This is the kind of games the App Store needs more of. It is a solid and very well made game that was made with the touch screen in mind. We cannot recommend it enough. However, be warned, it can be difficult at times, but if you push on, it can be very rewarding.
GUYS THE NEW EXPANSION CELTIC QUEEN IS OUT!!!! GO GET IT NOW!!!! We have been playing this game for a while now, we have almost all the expansions, and all we can say is, wow. This game has a very immersive story, plus the expansions make it a billion times better! Thank you Redshift, for all your hard work on this game.
If you like first person RPG this game is for you. We had to take a star off because using undead makes it a little too easy and the last boss is very easy and you wont even know hes the last boss.
