Description

while True: learn() is a puzzle/simulation game about even more puzzling stuff: machine learning, neural networks, big data and AI. But most importantly, it’s about understanding your cat.

In this game, you play as a coder who accidentally found out that their cat is extremely good at coding, but not as good at speaking human language. Now this coder (it’s you!) must learn all there is to know about machine learning and use visual programming to build a cat-to-human speech recognition system.

This game fits best for…

  • People who want to know more about how machine learning and related technologies work
  • Parents and teachers who are looking for a fun and easy way to make an intro to logical thinking, programming, and technologies for kids
  • Programmers who want to learn new concepts that they can apply to their own coding
  • Those who want to play games and not feel guilty about ‘wasting their time’ (although we believe you shouldn’t feel guilty at all while playing games!)
  • Players who like to keep their brains busy and working in different ways, while still having fun
  • Gamers looking to improve their problem-solving skills and feel immense sense of satisfaction and achievement that comes along with it
  • People who like smart cats

Learn how machine learning works in real life!

The game is loosely based on real-life machine learning technologies: from goofy Expert Systems to mighty Recurrent Neural Networks, capable of predicting the future. Don’t worry: it all plays out as a puzzle game. No coding experience required!

Train yourself into a data science wizard!

Drag objects around your screen with a mouse! Connect them with lines (oh yeah)! Try. Fail. Optimize. Try again. Then press “Release” button and see that sweet pieces of data flow smoothly through your screen.

Embrace an adventurous lifestyle of a machine learning specialist!

Designing a groundbreaking technology requires time, experience and money. That means you’ll have to work as a freelancer, with all the excitement that comes along with it. Receive emails! Accept contracts! Sit alone in a dark room for days without saying a single word! Socialize on forums! That’s what real data scientists do!

Coding just got real!

Our quests are based on actual problems, solved by machine learning. This includes building a self-driving car (with your cat as a pilot). And if you really want to test your programming might, you can become a CTO of a startup: it’s your skills and your schemes against the savage laws of the market! Earn a fortune, flip off your bosses and become a tech guru… Or lose everything and crawl back to the doorstep of HR department: at least it was worth trying, right?

Improve your gear, improve your life!

Once you ensure a stable cashflow, you’ll be able to buy yourself a bunch of fancy hardware to improve your performance. But it’s not just about the hardware! Buy yourself a new smartphone or a geeky figurine! Buy fancy outfits for your cat! Hell, you can even buy yourself an aloe!

Fun fact: this is what machine learning specialists actually do. Now, you can become one of them (minus the money)! while True: learn() is the best game about being a data science specialist because no one else has been weird enough to make another one!

while True: learn() Reviews

Along w/ the discord support its great.

Our dad got this for our on ps4 and tablet and this game is really cool! You should definitely buy it if your into puzzle games.

We do machine learning as part of our job and we find this game to be entertaining and educational. Really light touch with the learning and good logic puzzles.

Wish there was more games like this about machine learning.

The game is slick but most of the links are out of date which makes it much less educational. Still fun.

We spend half our time readjusting the pieces. Eva use we accidentally moved them. The text is so tiny that we cant read most of it, with no option to resize. Zooming in does not change text size. We get so annoyed with these things that we just dont feel like playing.

We love the game but it has 2 bugs: when we fail on a level sometimes it has a small green button that says d launch and it makes us give a loan and it shows a thing and continue and the button doesnt work also after we go bankrupt it makes us cry because all us data and hard work is deleted :(

Hello Im enjoying the game so far but could you tell how shall we access the tutorial videos? Thanks!

When you select an article or a video, the app returns a message indicating that it has been copied to the clipboard but its not clear how you get to the clipboard.

Please update this app so that text and buttons are not cut off. We will be getting a refund for this as there is no way for us to have known this.

If you love logic and knowledge grab this game. Its a gem.

One of the best mobile games we’ve ever played!!!

Would be 5 star, if not for the fact that you completely erased all our saves with your new update. Have to start all over again.. Once, and if we muster the strength to get our progress back, Ill update to 5 starts again. For now, suffer alongside with us. UPDATE: finally got to where we were before. Here are your well deserved five stars.

Fun and satisfying game that challenges us to come up with more efficient solutions and become creative in how to solve the levels. No coding required and its also not an easy, do-nothing game which gives it all to you. Worth the money!

A positive alternative to doom scrolling.

When it teaches you something new, there are some options on the bottom, view course and video on the how it works in the real world panel. But when u click on them it just says saved to clipboard. Id like to watch and review, BUT we HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THE CLIPBOARD IS.

We love how well designed this game is. Its educational and informative. We bought it on the switch, then on our iphone but we realized that we cant sync our progress across the two. For a game that has you save your code we were almost sure we can synchronize our progress. That was the only downside hence our 4 stars. If that isnt an issue for you, this game will teach you something and will give you a nice challenge too.

The game is awesome!! And we wish that there was more such games like this. But we couldnt find feedback button, or it lacks one. Thus, Im writing here about an issue. Looks like there is a problem with income received from investments, it doesnt add up to the total balance. Could you look into this, please. Best regards!

But on iphone 6 – keeps crashing repeatedly after reaching 23% progress. Cant get past loader screen even on performance mode. Please fix.

As a programmer/developer we were curious about this sure, but it approaches the puzzles in a very non-programmer, easy to consume way, that we believe would appeal to a wide audience. Its basically teaching computing concepts in a way that could have mass appeal! The cat theme and most of the fluff material in the game is completely forgettable, but the instructions are pretty helpful, as are the random history bits they throw in about the real world. Overall, thumbs way up on this!

We think this game is fun. Its nice that its trying to be educational in addition to a puzzle game. Sadly when we opened the game today all our saved progress is gone. Disappointing.

Clearly translated by non-native English speakers, its hard to get past the language sometimes. Hopefully the developers will get a professional editor to rework the text.

Every single time we run it for the first time, it will crash at the main menu and we will have to restart it. Running the game on iPhone 7+ with the latest version of iOS.

Im really enjoying improving our logical and reasoning skills with a game that is actually fun! The music is really great and for once we dont feel guilty spending so much time in a game…

We like being able to complete the puzzle (job) then learn more about it and improve on the solution. We like the cat theme and overall objective. Great narrative. Wonderful graphics very cool! Awesome creation.

Really fun app, graphics are nice to look at, the puzzles are interesting and hard enough to make you think, but helpful enough to make sure you finish.

Yes game hard but learn over time yes.

We just bought this game a couple days ago and we are having a blast playing it. Its a fun way to learn. 1000/10.

We love programming games in general, but this one adds something special. We bought this thinking it would be like the rest, where you have a goal each level which you would solve with an ever expanding set of available commands. This game is that, but more. We love that when a new concept is added, you are given the context of that concept originating in the history of machine learning. We really appreciate the links to articles and videos relating to those real world concepts. We really feel like Im learning a lot playing this game!

Neat idea but everything is so small on our phone. Also, for us personally we dont like all the pages and pages of words, we skip them all without reading them, Im just interested in solving puzzles.

Really confusing and levels get too hard too fast.

We are always working so hard at creating a good scheme and then the entire working area goes black and freezes. We have to hard restart each time to get the app back, and all of our progress is gone. This is quite annoying and needs to be fixed.

We tboight this game is to teach people how to code. We have no idea how to play this game at all. And this game does not come with instructions. Wasted our money. We deleted it.

We love this game. However… Im using the iPhone XS and we only played like 2-3 hours and it eats away almost 50% of our battery… Any possibilities for improvement on this?

Im a programmer and we are enjoying this game. Im learning a bit about machine learning (something we wanted to do anyway). The game does have a bunch of careless typos and spelling errors in the story part, but it doesnt get in the way. We cant figure out the difference between the StartUp daily graph colors (yellow vs orange??). The game could use a FAQ section. Would recommend the game to other coders.

This is a cute and fun basic sorting based game, great for kids to learn the basics of statistics and programming, but its UI could definitely do with some work. Copy /paste is always being triggered during drag/navigation which is super annoying, it would be better if this required a additional action or used an actual friendly button. Its very hard to see which wire goes to which node port a lot of the time because the wires connect mid way through the little port arrows rather than at the edge of the node, this could also be improved by using a nice curved line from the connections or even just a straight line out then a wire between. Wiring connections is fiddly and could be improved with clearer hit zones and animations on the UI elements.

Its hard to play by iphone. So many types node like things are hard to see and control. But its good game.

Love the approach to learning ML in a pretty funny way. We only with the start ups were a little more forgiving. We can get gold badges on most challenges, but there just seems no way to make money in the start ups but the first one.

If our cat had opposable thumbs we hope he would teach us to code.

We really like how it gives real world uses for the things you build too. Well worth the $5.00.

We very much enjoy this on PC and was happy to pay for another copy on our iPhone. Wonderful game with thoughtful coding puzzles and a nice sense of humor. Keep it up.

Agree with the other commenter; certain elements of the UI are cut off due to the bezel on the XS Max and XS. Fix this, definitely a 5 star game. Amazing otherwise.

Just picked up the game so Ill update our review as we play more but our first impression is its well made with a nice story. The issue we have immediately is the size of the text. Wow! It is so tiny we can barely read it on an iPhone X. Can that be modified somehow?

Keeps vibrating. No optionality to change this. Keeps pasting nodes. Seems to be too easy to trigger what you dont mean to do. Please fix these two things.

We’re playing on an iPhone xs max. The Evolve button on the Genetic Solver doesn’t work. We tried a long press as well but then it triggers the copy/paste function. So we’re at a standstill because we can’t "evolve.". Fix this and we’ll give it one more star.

Loved this game on steam so we had to get it on iOS. We really love the programming cat very charming and fun game. Best of all it is modestly priced without the constant micro transactions. Thank you.
