You are bird enthusiasts—researchers, bird watchers, ornithologists, and collectors—seeking to discover and attract the best birds to your network of wildlife preserves. Each bird extends a chain of powerful combinations in one of your habitats. Each habitat focuses on a key aspect of the growth of your preserves.

In Wingspan up to 5 players compete to build up their nature preserves in a limited number of turns. Each beautiful bird that you add to your preserve makes you better at laying eggs, drawing cards, or gathering food. Wingspan: The Board Game Reviews

As a bird nerd that love strategy games this really ticks all our boxes. Its a nice way to relax.

Play the game, once you learn the rules and understand the concept, no game is the same! Every time we play, we use different strategies. Fun to play with others also.

Beautiful version of the tabletop game.

This is a great game for playing around a table in person. But it adapts very well to to the iPad we’ve only played a few online games, but the AI is good enough that solo games are engaging. We have played a lot of games against the different AI levels. The highest level with multiple opponents really slows the game down, but 1 at the highest level and a couple good opponents keep things moving and makes the game moderately challenging.

One of the best and creative strategy board games we’ve ever played. The game changes every time based on your overall goal cards you received in the game. A must buy for anyone who loves birds and strategy games!!!

This is a fun game to play alone when we have a few minutes. We like t hat the goals are different each game so it stays interesting and challenging.

This is a beautifully rendered on line version of a board game that was lovingly and thoughtfully made. On line version is easy to use and navigate through. The variability of cards keeps the game fresh and interesting each time you play!

Wingspan is great for casual and competitive players at the same time. The app is a fun way to play when there is time for a full game. We like to play the AI to try different strategies. We recommend buying the European expansion as it really evens out some of the lopsided aspects of the base game and makes strategies that arent egg-centric more viable.

We never spend this much on game apps. That said, this is without a doubt the best single player experience out there. The music is peaceful and relaxing. The game play is excellent.

We absolutely love this game. We cant stop playing it. If we could have one wish it would be for the ability to play this game on Mac. We would probably never get anything accomplished in our life but we would still be a very happy person. Please please please add a Mac game!

This is an excellent version of an amazing game. The app is very good, the only occasional issue we have seen is with multiplayer if one player has a bad connection. The errors noted in the other review titled Coding Errors are not actually errors, when playing the automa the round end goals can go down. Overall we like playing this on app as much as playing the board game.

We have this board game at home and we love it. Its well crafted and slightly relaxing. The app version is no different. We also love that we can play our husband during the day through the app online. We really enjoy this game in all facets. Worth the money!

Wingspan is a terrific game we play the board game version frequently. The digital version is great – AI is good, graphics and sound are excellent. The bird trivia and birdsong is worth the price alone. And the beautiful card art from the box game looks awesome. A great game that is both relaxing to play, but also a challenge.

Elizabeth H. Gets the credit for the game, but this is a nice implementation of it.

This app is as beautifully crafted as the board game. The scenery and ambiance are incredible and we love the inclusion of the calls and facts about the birds. Online play is seamless. Asmodee, please take note of how to make a proper digital edition.

Our gamer friend said he was bummed that the end game was always about laying eggs, which is true sometimes, but not always. We’ve been beat by the AI with amazing tuck engines. If none of that makes sense, it will and it will be fun. This would be lovely to play in person but it has advantages over the physical. First the music, bird sounds, visuals (animations) and the backgrounds. All of this adds to the experience. Physical board games take up shelf real estate, require someone to come over (something thats been hard of late) and lots of pieces to set up. We love a good physical board game but sometimes digital is amazing. This may also be the perfect game for the times. Is it just us or has everyone in the city gone crazy? Angry, driving reckless and distracted. Road rage at an all time high. This game is such has such a great soothing factor that we have to point that out. You forget when you dont get out in nature what things like bird sounds do for you spirit. We have not tried the multiplayer. We often dont but if we do Ill come back and update our review to cover that. Oh, also, in terms of speed of gameplay, this is pretty zippy when playing solo. We always feel like its over just a hair too soon, but that has usually been because Im laboring with an inefficient engine (tuck, food cache, card drawthe many mechanics that intertwine to make an engine if you will). Leaning into that concept is how you get better and better. Also, really start to pay attention to how you get beat by the AI and look at their boards. It pays to pick some strong cards early and get them on the board.

This game is so beautifully illustrated that it is a peaceful timeout from the stresses of the day, plus fun to play.

Love this game so much that weve got the board game, expansion packs, switch and phone. Currently playing in our Deerstand ! Pileated woodpeckers are flying by us !

If you like Wingspan you will enjoy this it does a great job & does justice representing the board game very much.

We’ve played this game as a board game with our family for months on end, sometimes as much as five times in one day! We have both the European expansion and the Oceania expansionso we really wish this electronic edition included Oceania. Maybe someday, eh? Otherwise we think the format of this electronic version is super well done; we love all the sound effects and the information about the birds. The artwork is wonderful including the animated birds. So fun! Thanks!

Pro: easy to learn and practice strategies and learning the bird abilities. Con: AI is really easy to beat.

The game is great. Playing experience is mostly smooth. Problems: 1. Coding errors. Several times we’ve played, we’ve been asked to choose a food based on someone elses play. We do, but then theres no option to continue (no arrow to press). We have to exit and lose the game. We’ve noticed a few other such things. A recent update said it fixed several such glitches. We thought we were all good, but this one just happened. 2. If we have to exit for any reason, when we try to return we have to start a new game. We lose the last one played. There is no self saving mechanism, and no save option. Makes us just want to go play Carcassonne on our phone instead of this.

We keep losing games for end of round turns because there’s no audio cues. Otherwise it’d be 5 stars for being able to play the game cross platform with online friends.

We paid a total of $20 for this game and the expansion and you would think for that amount of money this app would be working perfectly but no its full of bugs and closes unexpectedly many times during play. We can pay $20 for a full ps5 game with online support and crazy graphics, but this app cant even run correctly. Love the game but this app is overpriced.

This is an interesting game, challenging and always a new strategy. Losing 5 points of Karma is brutal, especially when its due internet problems. Five minutes per turn is much too long imho.

How hard would that be to do? It would be a HUGE quality of life improvement. Its impossible to finish an online game because someone always times out. Maybe that wouldnt happen if it were easier to see that it was your turn.

Frustrating playing online because very few of the cards that affect other players actually work. The bugs have seemingly gotten worse over time too. Brilliant artwork. Bad execution of game play.

We like the game wingspan and this is a pretty good representation of it but the sound does not work so we can not rate this higher.

First, this is an excellent game. Over the board and online. However, it is not cheap in any form, and you have to buy it separately for differing platforms, AND you pay again in each for expansions. All that might be fine if the software was well written, but it is not. The game play UI on both Apple and Xbox is poorly thought out and gets players confused and even stuck not knowing what to do with regularity. It seems as if the developers don’t actually play the game they’ve been asked to write. But worse than that, the bugs are everywhere and getting worse with each release it seems. Especially on iOS. If you play online games of the 72hr variety then you have to force the application to shut down and restart at least daily to be able to get an active game to load. The turn count mechanism is completely broken, cause over counting, and ruining fair game play. For example; we were recently allowed to tuck 11 cards on an end of round action card based on action cubes of another player. It was the fourth round, with only five potential action cubes. Sadly there are more bugs, but we’re tired of writing and we doubt it will change anything. Bottom line, know that you are paying for bad software.

Bought the Wingspan expansion today and while playing it wasnt recognizing any of the new between play powers. So we did an update and now it wont allow us to play at all. So disappointed. This is seriously one of the best solitaire games out there or should we say. Was. :(

The game is gorgeous and we’re impressed at how the packed such a complicated table top game onto a phone screen. With that said, we get a lot of games the get into various crash loops. It’s very frustrating to get most of the way through a game then not be able to finish. We even deleted and reinstalled once. Not only did it not fix the problem, we lost all our collected bird cards and preserve records….

For an expensive game, it lacks cloud save to play across devices & save achievement progress. Parts of UI clunky as well.

The AI game play is brutally slow. Borderline unplayable.

This helped us understand the mechanics in the real life board game, a deck-builder with tons of depth. Wonderful job translating to iOS. There is a ton of complexity but the presentation mostly helps bubble up what youre supposed to be doing next and establishes the rhythm. After a few play-thrus, when you finally get a good bird engine going and figure out which goals to hit, you can pump out resources in really nicely. That said, the NPCs and separate Automata AIs can be ruthlessly efficient as you ramp up difficulty, making for a good challenge. Our only ask would be to add a Text Size optionthe thin tall font can be a challenge for older eyes, even on an iPhone Max.

Very well designed and runs very smoothly.

A game that is fun, competitive and challenging. Teaches cooperation and now versus later cost/rewards. And burdz!!!!

We highly recommend this game for serious game strategists as well as for casual occasional players. Lots of fun! We love the beautiful artwork, all the cheery bird sounds as we play, and learning about birds as we go. We have a lot of fun playing online with our friends.

Best board game ported to the iPhone sooo Elegantly other board games please take note.

Like the game. Listening to the birds chirp is pleasant. Relaxing experience.

Wingspan is a gorgeous and wonderfully designed game. We avoided it at first because the theme didnt really interest us, but eventually dove in and have loved it. Artwork is gorgeous and the sound effects and animations on the app are fun. It works well, the tutorial is easy to understand and get through. We really cant recommend this enough. We hope they will bring Mariposas to app form, as well!

One of the best transitions from Table to Screen we’ve ever played. This feels exactly like what a digital version Wingspan should be, and doesnt lose any of what makes the tabletop game stellar in the first place.

Love this game! The app is beautifully designed and the bird animations really make things more dynamic. Its also helpful for those trying to learn the hard copy version by teaching what and what not to do using AI. Our only complaint is connectivity and glitches. Often the app will quit mid game and then not reconnect, resulting in time out and loss of karma points. Which is insanely frustrating. Other than that, great game!

Our only complaint is that the notifications are often lagging, but otherwise great app that strongly resembles the board game itself.

The invite button to play with friends doesnt work yet. The rest of the game is fun and easy to use!

The karma feature is fatally flawed. You are forced to play games with players who have previously forfeited. That means 45 min to an hour hoping they don’t forfeit again. The only way to refuse them is o forfeit yourself thus harming your own karma. This is futile and frustrating. Why don’t you allow one o refuse play with know quitters??

There should be a fast play version with 1-2 minute timed turns. 5 minute is just way too long and leads to abandonment.
