Community Insight:
Ive been playing this game for years and we didnt realize just how much of a change the soundtrack would do to improve the chillness of this simple, yet brilliant game.
Its been one of our regular games for years. We never get bored of it. Easy to pick up but more difficult to advance. We even paid for it. And we hardly ever do that.
This is the game we have been turning to for over 10 years now to pass time and relieve stress. Ive never noticed it getting harder.
Would give this game five stars as it is amazing to get lost playing especially at 3am. Ive spent months playing threes until we pass out but recently. The new uhhhh remix of sorts just isnt reminiscent of the game we fell in love with,, anyways if ur gonna change the music at least add a setting for players to change the theme!! Currently have to play with the music setting turned off and the original threes soundtrack playing in our music app.
Who thought it was a good idea to scrap the excellent soundtrack for this game and replace it with something bland and boring? Part of the joy of playing this game was the music. Please either bring back the old music or allow the option to play it. Im knocking off two stars for degrading the music.
Its a super cute game and we love the sound design as much as the relaxing play. That said we do not love the new soundtrack!! Please add an option to play the old one.
We enjoyed the game for years and after the update the app would not load.
Great music, chill game. The composer is really nice and we ReMixed this OST :).
We've probably spent years of our life playing this game.
We have been playing this game every single day since we first downloaded it in sixth grade, and we are now a senior in college. The movement of the tiles allows for more strategic play and the personification of each number is elegant and engaging. The repetitive motions and satisfying color scheme is ideal for anxiety management and mindfulness practice. We play threes when we are feeling anxious, happy, excited, nervous, depressed, and it is just as satisfying each time. Anyone who knows us knows that we LOVE threes, and we are genuinely grateful to the creators of this game because it has been one of the most consistent things in our life. We have logged over 8 hours of screen time on threes in a single day, and we never tire of it, and we will play it everyday for the rest of our life. It is an incredible, captivating, and addicting game. Thank you.
In the eleven years since we downloaded Threes we have played 25,896 games.
We used to play a lot and Ive rediscovered this game. Still one of the most fun games Ive played on our phone.
Been playing this for over 2 years and finally got the 6144 tile and only once. We guess we got super lucky where everything was falling into place. Connecting 2 of them seems impossible but every 5 minutes after failure we get over our anger and try again. Really need an undo button. 2048 has it damnit. Also, 2048 strategies dont work in Threes. That had us thrown off for months.
Do not download. You cannot say we didnt warn you.
Everything we wanted in a mobile game. Pure, thoughtful fun that can be played in quick sessions or for hours without ads, gimmicks, or unnecessary purchases and paywalls. The true depth of this game is staggering, we cant even imagine how much time this took to develop. Ill be playing this for a long time.
Love this simple game of numbers. Play offline it is our go to game when traveling by air. Plays exactly the same when our phone is in airplane mode. No sound needed to fully enjoy game so we can play anywhere even if we dont have headphones. We can easily put down and pick up again. So great to play in the doctors/dentists office waiting room or on a break at work.
On our phone, games come and go, but Threes has stuck around for the long haul. It takes about 10 seconds to figure out how the game works. Sure, you can agonize over each move and play slowly and methodically. But we also love to sometimes just swipe away, almost in a meditative state, and see how far we can get. You can play however you want! IMO this is the greatest simple puzzle game since Tetris.
Years after first buying this game, and we still love it just as much. We just unlocked the 1536 tile for the first time after several years of play.
We purchased this game in 2014. Forgot about it until we checked our purchase history when we went back to iPhone. Just as great as we remembered and now we get to for those last two tiles.
We love this game. Perfect for zoning out. You are not required to be connected to the internet so its always available when internet connection is shotty or you are on a plane.
If one wants two, Threes can be fourplay. Five stars.
This is one of the best games out there. Highly motivating and just super polished and smooth! We are not even a numbers fan but this has us hooked. Great job.
We have been playing this as our go to puzzle game when we have a few spare moments. It is always challenging but doesnt get boring. Trying to reach those largest tiles is still compelling after all these years. If you like combining number tiles and strategizing several moves ahead, give it a try.
This is a great game and our go to when we want to fidget in a line or while waiting for something.
Ive been playing Threes! Since it was first released in 2013, and its undoubtedly one of our favorite games of all time. Its a deceptively simple game and one that rewards careful, considered play. Almost a decade on, Threes! Is still well worth your time.
We come back to this every so often and still find it satisfying. We havent mastered it. But every once in a while we have a great game that makes us want to keep trying. No adds or coins or other fluff. Just the game. Enjoy.
Also, very clean app that doesnt bug you with ads or ratings requests, just a fun way to waste a few minutes playing a puzzle gams.
We were motivated to review by seeing some of the complaints on featured reviews. We have played this game daily for months and find it engaging and challenging still. Yes it took only a few minutes to get started, but every game draws us in to paying thoughtful attention and is a joy. We know there is more to learn still as we have still never gotten to the 3072 tile after playing over 1000 times. Maybe because we enjoy playing before we go to sleep. Maybe because Im stupid. Who knows? This game does randomly choose the next tile to add, and uses some randomness in choosing where to add it. So you might feel like you are doing everything right and promptly lose. Randomness is like that. We like managing for this as best we can, and am ok with losing and starting again.
We cant remember when we first got threes, it was quite a few years ago. But its generally the first game we open up when we want to play a game, so would definitely say its something thats given us years of joy.
Ive been playing for almost seven years now and only recently got a new tile and it was one of the most satisfying experiences of our entire life. Threes rocks the tricky combination of simple and deep, and though youll know the rules right away and can guess early at some good general strategies, you can slowly get better for years, fine-tuning your approach and feeling yourself improving. If youre stuck, keep at it! Few games feel as rewarding.
Ive played this since it came out. We have Apple Arcade. We play Threes more than any other game on our iPhone and on our iPad. Its just wonderful; it totally zones us out, is charming in every way and has kept us interested for years. Buy it – skip the cheap imitations.
What it isnt: It isnt an RPG, it isnt a first person shooter, it isnt MMO. What it is: At first its an easy game of matching numbers in multiples of 3, its a nostalgic throwback to a simpler time, and its the only game that makes math addictive. And after a few games you realize its harder than what you once thought, but, juuuuuuust maybe next time youll beat that score. Then you dont, and you play again.
All these years later we still open up 3s to waste some time. Our average score is about 10,000 though we hit 20,000 once. We play hoping maybe this time we can best our score! It is fun and we dig it. Cant imagine ever deleting this one.
A game that has never left our phone.
Ive been playing Threes for years. Its the perfect simple game for a little distraction.
This game is an amazing warmup for anything brain heavy.
Threes! Is a great game for passing time in lines, walking, waiting, etc. It can also be a serious thinker and a bit stressful when youre really going for the big score. There is strategy and visualization skills are important, but simple enough foe anyone to play. The deva have kept it fresh over the years as well, so its never left our phone (and they havent issued a version 2 that is just version 1 with different colors so you have to buy it again, which we appreciate).
This is the adult fidget toy of the millennium. Im not sure our body knows how to pump blood through our brain without our finger on this game. Its a brilliant, beautiful, maddening, glorious design. Im 100% sure its the app Ive used most, ever.
This is one of the only games we play every day, even years later. Such a clean concept, well executed, and lovely to play.
This is a game that we have consistently played since launch. It is one that we keep coming back to. The mechanics are great, graphics and sound are perfect as well. There are imitators, but this is the original and the best. Thank you for the consistent updates! This one should be in the iOS games hall of fame.
This is the best mobile game (perhaps best overall game?) ever made. Other games have come and gone but we return to Threes again and again. The challenge remains. The intrigue remains. Its a masterpiece for the ages.
Over the last month or so (since an update?), the app crashed quite frequently. Crashes are more frequent if the app is in a folder, but still happen on the Home Screen. Crash disables the retry button but user can still scroll between screens. Have to delete app and reinstall to solve the problem. Doesnt last too long and then do it again.
This game is great, but as long as we cant figure out how to restart a session, we cant give it 4 stars. Its a very basic function. And if it does exist, its not super obvious for dumb users like us.
Night mode is embarrassing. OLED needs black to really benefit for battery.
Needs an undo button. Its too easy to make a move you didnt intend and lose a game you shouldnt. Very frustrating.
Had trouble getting the menu button to show up but it finally did.
We shouldnt loose just because he came decixed to give us five blues in a row when theres one red on the board.
We're addicted and play every day but we are now getting frustrated that more ones and twos are popping up to the point where it's impossible for us to score much more than 10000. We used to do much better. We understand that the game might be made gradually more challenging but there becomes a point where frustration will force us to stop playing. Maybe it's time to go back to 2048. The algorithm should be tuned to present more random level of difficulty perhaps trending to greater difficulty. Even Pavlov's dogs needed to be rewarded occasionally. One feature we would like to see is an undo to recover from a bad swipe. Maybe undo would disqualify you from ranking but it would improve overall enjoyment.
We have music and sound effects turned on, but theres no sound. Ive deleted the app and reinstalled it, but still no sound.
This game is way too expensive for the features. But its a great time sink. Needs an undo button to at least be able to undo the last move. Also, its kinda weird that the blocks are rectangles and not squares.
