F-Sim|Space Shuttle 2 – Education Game Review
![]()
F-Sim|Space Shuttle 2 is a Education/Racing/Simulation game from SkyTale Software GmbH, first launched in 4th August 2021.
It’s rated 4+ and currently has 482+ ratings on the App Store.
What Makes F-Sim|Space Shuttle 2 Stand Out
Here is the long-awaited successor to our critically acclaimed flight simulator. It simulates the Space Shuttle approach and landing in incredible detail and accuracy.
This is a remaster of our original F-Sim Space Shuttle, completely rewritten from scratch. New features include:
- Console quality graphics
- Interactive tutorials
- White Sands as a third landing site option
- Orbit mode
F-Sim Space Shuttle combines realistic flight simulation with stunning graphics and fun gameplay.
You’ve never landed a Space Shuttle before? We’ve got you covered: Included are several tutorials with varying degrees of autopilot assist. Our landing analysis and scoring system tells you exactly how to improve your next landing. It will make you come back and try again.
Each flight starts at either 10,000 feet, already aligned with the runway, or at up to 50,000 feet, before banking into the heading alignment cone. During descent, the Orbiter is an unpowered glider, so you will only have one chance to get it right. Astronauts used to call it a flying brick: Because of its 200,000 lbs. gross weight and low lift over drag ratio, the approach is six times steeper and two times faster than a typical airliner approach. After your first safe touchdown, chase that perfect landing, compare your high scores online with your friends, earn medals, and unlock achievements. Experiment with different wind conditions, night approaches, and even emergency scenarios or system failures. At the end of each flight, watch a replay from different camera angles.
You control the Orbiter’s pitch and roll axes by tilting your device. Alternatively, you may switch to on-screen analog sticks or use a gamepad. Rudder, speed brake, gear, and chute are usually handled by the autopilot, but you can have full manual control if you like. For beginners, we’ve added rectangles that visualize the desired approach path. Simply try to stay within the corridor of rectangles, and they’ll guide you right to the touchdown point. Advanced pilots can turn them off and rely on the instruments in the head-up display (HUD) instead. The simulated guidance, navigation and control (GNC) systems are authentic replications of their counterparts in the real Orbiter, and the HUD features all the instruments real Space Shuttle commanders used to employ to skillfully land this unique aircraft. Now it’s your turn to give it a try.
A new orbit mode lets you take the Orbiter for a spin around the planet, and we’re working on a full atmospheric re-entry scenario, which, among other new features, will be released as free updates in the coming months.
There are no ads or in app purchases, and we don’t collect any personal data.
This Education game offers engaging gameplay and regular updates for mobile players.

Recent Updates & Development
Latest Update: 29th September 2021
Recent improvements include:
This is a minor update with bugfixes and some new features:
New features:
- Background audio (e.g. playlists from Apple Music) can now be played back instead of F-Sim's in-game music. This is optional and must be enabled in the F-Sim's Sound And Vibrations settings.
- RCS controls (in orbit mode) now always use virtual sticks instead of tilt controls
- New autopilot wheel-brake option
The following bugs have been fixed:
- Wheel bounce detection is now less aggressive
- Fixed a bug with terrain collider updates (this bug sometimes caused the Orbiter to jump during rollout when the framerate was low)
- Fixed a couple of bugs concerning wheel brake control during rollout.

Community Insight:
Will there ever be a re entry update to this app.
Best Shuttle Simulator, we love the graphics and really looking forward to re-entry mode. It was worth buying it.
This game is fun one suggestion, can you make the game keep playing when you crash just a thought to make it more cool.
The graphics are perfect and the controls are great and and we have been a fan of this game for like three years and we can not wait for for the new update.
The sequel is just pure gaming gold. We purchased both and we thought the devs couldnt top the first entry and was we wrong. The replays are just jaw dropping. Its like watching a live Space Shuttle landing.
So, we know you've been getting negative reviews recently about a lack of re-entry in the game, which, as you have established, is due to insufficient funding/revenue for the game rendering the product a non-profit passion project. However, we believe that there is ample motivation for the re-entry update to be released as soon as possible despite the lack of immediate incentive. You see, playing F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 without re-entry is like eating ice cream without ketchup. A Generation Alpha child without the divinely consecrated symphony of Skibidi Toilet blaring from his comically large iPad in a fancy restaurant. A copy of Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell without a basement-dwelling Reddit user horrifically misinterpreting its words. A Romeo without his Juliet, if you will. According to our calculations, when the F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 re-entry update is released, there will be a HUGE amount of hype, believe it or not. People will take to the streets holding up massive banners with your game's logo on it, and flying massive space shuttle themed floats and balloons like it's Goku at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, except it won't be Thanksgiving, and there will be no mention of Goku, for F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 will be the only thought in the minds of every being on Earth. The masses will collapse to their knees, tears streaming down their faces, and they will shout, "The re-entry update! THE RE-ENTRY UPDATE IS REAL!" It'll be like the new Halo for Sony. People will refund their copies of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree en masse to purchase 12 copies of F-Sim Space Shuttle 2, earning SkyTale over $1 space shutillion. The president of the United States will make an appearance on national television, and he will say, "People of America, the re-entry update for F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 has been released!" and spontaneously begin to breakdance on the floor of the White House as people across America will join hands in gratitude, praising SkyTale for their release of absolute peak gaming. Atheists across the globe will all simultaneously turn to religion, as there is no possible way that a game could embody such unparalleled, exalted perfection without divine providence watching over humanity. But while the Bible says that Jesus Christ of Nazareth died for our sins, SkyTale lived for our virtues, producing the single greatest work of art that has ever or will ever be released. In fact, William Shakespeare's ghost will return from the grave and after catching a single glimpse of the F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 re-entry update, will use his supernatural abilities inadvertently granted to him by his second ex-wife as revenge by the sorceresses for when she tried to short the stock of her medieval witching firm, to retroactively edit all copies of his plays, resulting in vastly improved dialogue over already revolutionary play-writing, such as in the cases of: Romeo and Juliet But, soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and the F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 re-entry update is the sun. Arise, fair F-Sim Space Shuttle 2, and kill the envious moon Who is already sick and pale with grief for not being able to play the F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 re-entry update sooner, That thou, our update, art far more fair than she Hamlet To be, or not to be: that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune if the re-entry update of F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 hadn't been released Or to take arms against a sea of troubles all stemming from the lack of F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 re-entry update, And to what is not partaking in the enjoyment of the F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 re-entry update tantamount? To die: to sleep; No more; and by a single F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 updaye to say we end The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep; To sleep: perchance to play the re-entry update for F-Sim Space Shuttle 2: ay, there's the rub; For in that sleep of death what dreams may come When we have shuffled off this mortal coil but return to edit our plays due to the release of the F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 re-entry update, Must give us pause: there's the respect That makes calamity of so long life; For who would bear the whips and scorns of time other than the F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 re-entry update … When he himself might his shuttle make With a Perfect Landing? Who would SkyTale bear, To grunt and sweat under a weary life, But that the dread of not playing F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 after death, The undiscover'd country from whose bourn No traveller returns, puzzles the will And makes us rather bear those ills we have In order to play the re-entry update for F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 Thus conscience does make cowards of us all; And thus the native hue of screen resolution Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of not being able to play the F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 re-entry update, And enterprises of great pith and moment With this regard they realize their worthlessness in comparison to F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 re-entry update, And lose the name of action.Soft you now! The Exalted SkyTale! Venerable Developers, in thy Eminent Code Be all our virtues remember'd. — Your F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 re-entry update shall be extolled across the cosmos. Even the mythical (nonexistent) Dr. Pepper will play the F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 re-entry update, his carbonated essence drowning in your Eminent Code's perfection. Though a man for whom lives are merely a store of value, Mario will once again appreciate the sanctity of existence after playing the F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 re-entry update. Minecraft Steve, Madame Web and Dr. Michael Morbius. Sans Undertale, John Darksoul, the Jonkler, and Batgos. Sheldon J. Plankton, Eugene Krabs, Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, and SpongeBob Squarepants. Goku and the Peashooter from Plants vs. Zombies. All shall revel in the Divine Light of F-Sim Space Shuttle 2.
Updated Review Guys, when can we see a full re-entry sim update? Extremely difficult to make a perfect landing in a realistic setting but thats the beauty of this simulation. Job well done. Its near flawless. Patiently waiting for the re-entry option update. Thats half the fun of a landing. ;-) – Lets get the full Re-Entry simulation. Its time.
Its great, you should really buy it, for a mobile game the graphics are AMAZING!!! The only thing we ask is to fix the glitch where your device wont calibrate in custom flights, and make it so that the payload bay doors open when you are in orbit, and you could maybe even put payloads in, aside from a few little things, it is still a great game.
This game is really good but its been 2 years and the re-entry hasnt been finished yet and we would like to know when it will be done.
Loved the original. This version is a great improvement. Would LOVE to experience the re entry or maybe even ISS docking or something. Hopefully we get an update soon.
Im a HUGE space shuttle fan and we loved the first version of this game. This version is amazing and we are so glad you are close to releasing the de-orbit feature soon.
Im super hopeful that you guys will do a update on this awesome game, really cant wait for the new shuttle deorbit mode.
We cant wait to see the re-entry feature to be added!!!! Love.
Any news on when well get the rentry and launch update.
We dont get to launch the space shuttle.
Best sim ever, how do you do it!? So it is amazing but Im really looking forward to see reentry we want to see it go up in FLAMES (plasma) so just work hard so we can see it!!! Good luck.
Its a very good game its just the tilting is harder than the first one and its fun just need some practice.
This little flight sim is our favorite on mobile right now. Its beautiful, and though limited in scope, it does space shuttle landing extraordinarily well. Ive spent as much time in orbit enjoying the view as we have landing (and yes, you can maneuver in orbit unlike what another reviewer says). Theres nothing to complain about here. If you are an aviation or space flight geek, this is a must have! In our view its perfect.
Was a fan of the first F-Sim and came back to try F-Sim 2 after many years. Im enjoying it a lot! Its challenging but Ive gone from the top of the Consecutive Crash Landings Leaderboard (not a thing) to our first Perfect Landing and subsequent #2 spot (Mar. 15) on same named leaderboard in about 2 weeks time. Graphics and app performance are smooth as butter (iPhone 11). No complaints at all except for not being able to see some of the leaderboard titles due to word length. Not gonna lie, really looking forward to that re-entry challenge but itll get here when it gets here. Good luck to the dev(s) and all the astronauts/cosmonauts out there.
We hope Full Reentry is out soon everyone wants it to come out already with that coming out the whole game is going to be better then all the game on the App Store and we hope more Updates will be released like being able to change the name of the shuttle and more.
As a giant space shuttle fan this is amazing. It reminds us of the simulator at Kennedy Space Center. Im hoping the re entry mode is still in the works? Would definitely make it a a 6 star app at that point.
We hope the full Re-entry is coming in a update soon because we want to know what it going to look like. And we should add shuttle Names so we can choose what shuttle name we want and have the Nasa 747 carrier the shuttle to Florida so then all we do is sit back and relaxs. And we should have were we can launch the shuttle into space that would be a cool ding to have and thats all that this game needs. So read us message and respond to our text.
This game is crazy cool and realistic and it runs beautifully on our phone. We really just have one question, and that is when the re-entry thing will be added. Our suggestion is when you are landing into a sunset you should make the sun less big.
Best simulator ever! Will there be any updates soon.
This game is amazing the quality is good the audio is PERFECTO its so realistic we cant even focus on the space shuttle this is the type of game we play when we are bored we play this game all day because its so realistic our question is when is the reentry update coming? The turning is really good especially when it is on the HAC mode you can customize the land final, full, fail, what runway, day or night its just so good we expected to be like f sim 1 but its has more than that its really good.
Ok this game is sooooooo nostalgic to us because back in 2018 we were in first grade and we had this friend named Dustin and we loved f sim. The only reason we got this game is for the orbit mode but one thing we suggest is a launch sequence and missions. But this game is the best.
Extremely difficult to make a perfect landing in a realistic setting but thats the beauty of this simulation. Job well done. Its near flawless. Patiently waiting for the re-entry option update. Thats half the fun of a landing. ;-).
This is the best space flight simulator.
We had been playing F-SIM Shuttle One for a number of years when we came across this, and although we hesitated from buying this game for a while we finally caved in, and this game is well worth $5. The orbiters cockpit is wonderfully and realistically detailed and Atlantiss exterior is no less beautiful and almost looks like the real thing. In addition, to all of this we also love the tutorials, demonstrations, and even the new landing site (White Sands, we dont care if it was only used once). But even, better orbit mode is a great way to see the Earth in a unique way. We cant wait for a new update!! This is a must for any Spaceflight nerd (like ourselves). Our only critique would be that the payload doors are closed in orbit mode, in real life the cargo doors were open while in orbit to keep the shuttles systems from overheating, but honestly this doesnt bother us that much as the amazing RCS thruster plooms make up for that. Keep up the great work.
When we started playing this game we thought is was gonna be a walk in the park, but it was far from that. It took us a while to get our first safe landing then a good landing.
Add a take of at Kennedy space center.
Will you guys add a launch sequence so we can experience the launch and will or can you add missions and openable payload bays and Canadarm and maybe a docking to the ISS and a full free mission like you launch into space then re-enter.
Didnt even know this was out until this morning. Immediately downloaded it and our experience with playing it so far has been highly enjoyable. The new and improved graphics are amazing! Many new mission setup features to explore as well. Looking forward to getting deeper into it.
We've been an "Air Sim" junkie for IOS since iphone 3, and when we first played the original F-Sim when it arrived for iPhone, it was already much better than any of the standard popular titles out there. Not many covered Space Shuttle flying, F-Sim was one of the few that tackled this difficult segment of aviation to not only simulate but to develope the simulated physics into code for a game. It's not standard plane modeling because the Orbiter Vehicle was such a unique situation with it's own unique flight envelope and characteristics. They somehow managed to get it right back then though, and the realism and graphics made a constantly interesting flying experience for the user. This new updated version has all the same hallmarks of precision and attention to detail as the original, except consider everything SUPERCHARGED now, and going from a "10" to a an "11", and taking advantage of all the technical improvements in our modern devices. The added scenarios have been improved and the addition of making changes by customizing the glide slopes as you wish is incredible. Not only is this game one of the best space shuttle simulators, it is simply one of the best aviation simulators of all time. There is no way you will be disappointed. Impossible.
Really glad this has been updated. The graphics look amazing. We cant wait to try re-entry. Are you going to bring back clouds and visibility limitations? Also, as a request, can you add in some abort air fields such as Zaragoza or Shannon? That would be neat to try.
F-Sim 2 is a good update of the original F-Sim Space Shuttle flight simulator. We bought the original for our iPad when it first came out, and we appreciate the new version on our current iPhone X. The motion and control is smooth. The HUD is realistic and captures the visual aspects of landing the Shuttle. The simplicity of the controls is well suited to an iPhone, so you can focus on roll and pitch with the way you hold the phone, without needing to use your hands to fiddle with buttons or other things to click on. The simulator is simple in this way and fairly easy to get started, yet it is challenging in the skills needed to carry out a good landing. The scenery is beautiful, the cockpit details are very good (including functional displays!), and the sun lighting is rendered well. Finally, we really appreciate that there arent in-game purchases or ads. This app keeps to the old method of simply buying it once.
Since 2012 the f-sim has been our most played "game" app in our phone and ipad. This new version is a big improvement. We fly big jets for a living and the characteristics and feel for the new controls remind us more of real flying. In the old app we had diconnected all automation and assistance and made a good or perfect landing almost all times. This new version is much more difficult and small mistakes have more effect on the touchdown. We know flying the 767 and the space shuttle is not the same but we think this is much more like flying the real thing. We are really looking forward to the re-entry part. If we can point out some small improvement that could be made. First the lighting inside the cockpit at night is too bright. In real life you would have all light as dim as possible and most likely turned all the way down. Second we would like more options regarding crew comunication. Not always the same crew. Thanks for an awsome simulator and we hope you will continue to improve, extend and add new things to it.
The developers have done an incredible job improving on the original which we still have installed. Cant wait to fly a full reentry when thats completed. Wonderful job.
The first version has been a favorite of ours since we got it years ago. Im now on an iPhone 12 Pro Max and a 2021 iPad Pro 2TB. The new version two is unbelievable in quality. Ive pad far more for PC based flight simulators that were t even close to what you all have here. Congratulations and good luck in the future.
This is a great game. We play it on almost a daily basis. The one thing we wish they would finish is re entry. That would be great to see. Other than that, what an awesome game.
Ive been waiting for re entry for a while now its been at least a year since we got this game so its been a while so please get the re entry update done soon oh and also the game is pretty fun still.
First off, the graphics are stunning. We love that you added the White Sands landing strip! Our only complaint is that there is no autopilot for the rudder. We would look forward to that, as it is in the original game. We are also looking forward to the reentry mode as well. Good stuff, but please consider adding autopilot for the rudder. Thanks.
We really love this game, except theres one problem. Theres no record mode to save replays to photos, and no clouds option. Please add this. Also, Its been two years, wheres reentey.
We really like this game but it would be way better if we could use our backbone controller for it.
We bought this game as a long time fan of the first F-Sim and we must say this is an astounding predecessor to the original, our only gripe is there is no random button in the custom approach screen, if you add this we will change our review to 5 stars. Thank you for this wonderful sim, it has brought back many memories for us.
Great game, but when you pay for the game to have re-entry included but never put re-entry in the game thats frustrating.
Been looking at coming soon for a couple years on the full re-entry game. Looks like the dev walked away. You can only coast so long, even in orbit. Sorry lost stars.
The sim its self it pretty good, especially considering there really isnt much else out there like it, even on PC. It just unfortunate that they seemed to have stopped development on it. It would have been nice to see the reentry scenario come to the game but it doesnt look like that will be the case.
We have waited for long. And the re-entry is still not out. Why.
