We like the game. Ads are ubiquitous and sometimes difficult to close. Music is annoying since chess is a mental game requiring concentration.
Id give this chess game 5 stars as it is exactly what we are looking for, if not for one glaring and disastrous flaw. It will not let you rotate widescreen as our iPad is used 99% of the time sideways. Will change when update comes out. Sad thing is we would have even purchased the game.

Calls a stalemate when you have 6 players on the board and your computer opponent has only the King. That would definitely play out differently if the game continued.
The nicest computer chess game we have played! It is actually the only game we play on our iPad, lots of fun.
Plays well but could be better: the levels should coincide with Chess ratings.When we exit the game it saves the game about 75% of the time.Thats very disappointing when we are in the middle of a very good game. Need that game save to go up to 100% and this will be a great chess game app.

The color you would think of as white is black and vice versa. Looks so wrong. Such a simple thing to get wrong. SMH.

We thoroughly enjoy your Chess app and have been playing it for several years. We love the ability to adjust the difficulty level and have found a level that challenges us, but allows us to win from time to time. Great app.
Our download seems always to seize up after we've moved, with the computer taking a while to function. This doesn't happen in two player. Also, it might be a petty gripe, but we really dislike how when you've beaten the computer, the game declares it a draw by stalemate. When the computer beats you and puts your king in check, it comes up as a defeat. When you beat it though, the game can't even give you the satisfaction of telling you that you've won. We mean come on, checked the king in three moves, and they call that a stalemate.
No hints. No tutor mode. No pro mode. Hard to control difficulty slider. Free Android version kills this one. Odd because its the same developer. Forgot we paid for this years ago. Thought we had the free version. After upgrade, no changes. Angry we paid for this twice.
Update 6/2021 is horrible! Starts with wrong color which cannot be changed. Does not respond to commands. Freezes! We cannot even delete this atrocity. PLEASE STOP MAKING UPDATES. LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE! Update 8/2/2018: In addition to everything else, the ads have become increasingly yet even more intrusive. In some cases you have to spend a significant amount of time and energy to get around them. This does not motivate us to spend the money and upgrade the app. We would not give a dollar to whomever it is created the app. We would expect the ads to reappear, just less often. Update 5/3/2018: God knows why lots of people love this crass app, but they do. Muzak is still there. The app freezes from time to time. It makes moves that are optically impossible, capturing a pawn without taking up the space where it was. Sometimes the queen will fall for any ruse, effectively sacrificing herself for zero gain. In fact, the queen is the most incompetent piece of them all in the absolute stupidity of the moves she makes. We give up. Update 2/11/2018: App has increasingly annoying and intrusive ads, some of which you cannot even exit without shutting down and restarting your device. When a "free" app reaches this level of irritation, it is time to delete it and go elsewhere. Earlier versions were at least silent. This one, there is Muzak in the background, as if you're in an elevator, dentist's office, or a bad restaurant. Unbelievably poor judgment.
We do get disappointed at all the distractions in getting to the game.
The ai takes too long to decide a move on max dificulty.

Its straight forward, fun to play. Definitely would be better if there were a way to keep track of wins, loses, and draws. Stats would make this app 5 stars.

It is a great app! We would want to have some more joyful music, though. Otherwise, everything is great.
We Play tournament chess at about 1500 level and we love this app! Especially well done are the graphics. It looks like a real board. Chess master for example has dozens of sets and they are all but one too distracting to play with. This app is far better! Wonderful adjustment for playing strength. The only thing we think it could use is a draw offer. It does not seem to recognize draw by insufficient material and we must play on to get the 50 move rule for a draw, it also has the disconcerting flaw of not recognizing the draw by repetition rule correctly. The same position must appear three times in a row with the same player to move and this app often claims a draw when it does has not fulfilled the requirements, but it is our favorite app.
We consider ourselves we great chess player, and Ive been doing it since preschool. We love this game. The best chess player at our school became the greatest, and taught himself how to play by using this! We are very happy to have such a wonderful, simple app that gives you a classic chess game. Suggestions: we would like to give a few suggestions. We were wondering if there could be a way to input rules in the game. (Touch it move it, no undo button, etc.) This is how we play in tournaments. We also would like to recommend to actually add tournament mode with tournament style rules. You could have five rounds, and a bunch of divisions like k-1, k-3, k-5, and k-12. This would help more chess players to practice for tournaments and just spend their time. Like we said before, we are super pleased with this app. As a member of the school chess team, and one of the top ten players in our grade, we give this the stamp of approval. Thanks for making this excellent game.

It never has an end! Awesome thing to keep our mind sharp we're gonna play this game with our mom evry night.
When us and our mom were playing we were stuck with kings we mean how is one person supposed to win.
Get it if you like chess(or love).
However, there is one thing you forgot: En pusoin Capturing. When the enemy goes out two spaces with a pawn to block your pawn, you can go to the diagonal of any two sides and capture the opponent. (This only applies to pawns.).
Its human player vs computer. Not the same thing.
Fine for wasting time now and then, but it gets really annoying when the game is declared a draw when you have checkmate. Or the flip side of that, when you have been checkmated but the game continues on while denying you every move because all would result in the capture of the king. Seems like stupid programming oversight that wouldn't be hard to fix. If that ever happens we'll change our review title from stupid to smart. Is Optimus up for the challenge.
Cant turn it off we play for relaxing and sometimes want it fast and sometimes slow – but the timer controls the board. Give us a off switch for timer and Ill return the missing stars.
So first of all its a good game,but say like when you TRY to move a pice where a pon is ( but it cant get u ) IT DOESNT LET YOU LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK LIKE IT CANT KILL YOU JUST thats it really ok bye Lol, Scarlett.
We literally put it on one person hard mode and it was doing the dumbest mistakes.The it made an illegal chess move.For anyone that likes chess Ill recommend chess.com.Its much better and doesnt have a single add for free.

We have tryed to castle but it will not let you.
Every time Im about to get checkmate it says draw due to stalemate but when theres an actual a stalemate it never ends.
This game calls so many draws even when its not one.
We don't like because: 1) Music not to our taste 2) Does not show record of moves 3) Does not show captures 4) Bishop and Pawn are easy to confuse both are squat and rounded.
We used to like this app, but it has suddenly slowed down. We have to wait for 5 seconds after we make a move for the computer to respond. It's incredibly annoying.
As you are playing Chess, a virus pop up will appear through Safari. It is through this app that the virus has access to your tablet.
Do not download, this app automatically opens ads sometimes in safari. Very shady.
First off, the game has a wide margin of difficulty so it can be played by a beginner or a grandmaster. The ads are unobtrusive and once you dial in on your level, which can be a little tricky with the slider, you're rewarded with endless hours of great play. There's no need to look for another chess game, this ine is all you need.
