Zombie Dice is a Strategy/Entertainment game from Steve Jackson Games Incorporated, first launched in 30th July 2010.
It’s rated 9+ and currently has 1,823+ ratings on the App Store.

What Makes Zombie Dice Stand Out

Eat brains. Don't get shotgunned.

Based on the hit dice game . . . but now the dice, and a zombie opponent, are in your iPhone!

You're a zombie, racing to be the first to eat 13 yummy human brains. But those humans fight back. Press your luck. Keep rolling, keep collecting brains . . . but if you get three shotguns, you're out!

Enjoy the zombie animations and sound effects (Braaaaaaaiiinnnns!). The zombie will talk back to you after every roll. But beware of his advice, because just like a human opponent, he wants you to LOSE!

Community Insight:

There are 2 expansions Are they ever going to be added into this digital game? Id play a LOT more if we could see total games played, total won, total lost, win%, loss%, avg score One rule change in this game would make it more strategic; let us CHOOSE which dice to add to the 3 we get to roll. Ex; start game, we might want to CHOOSE 1 red, 1 yellow, 1 green. We roll red shotgun, feet for the other yellow and green. We re-roll those 2 dice AND a third that we get to CHOOSE!! (This is how we play the yphysical game). This game should let us choose when appropriate… This would eliminate some RANDOMNESS in this game. Btw, we payed the $.99 and it lets us add more ai players but so far Ive seen a whole 2 additional animations. Thats kinda LAME. AT LEAST add different graphic-mugshot faces for the different zombie opoonents (ai) that we play against. And GameCenter achievements are registering… The game sees our nickname but the achievements are not happening (we know ive achieved them but GC icon does not enable). There can be soooooo much more to this game. As it is, its too random, too basic, not enough stats… What a shame for a digital game.

This game seems like a great time passer. It would be very easy to teach and a fun party game as long as you have something else to play alongside it. Definitely considering getting the real thing.

Im very glad that Zombie Dice received an update for the current iOS. Hope to see these updates continue so it stays compatible. This is our favorite little time killin dice game. Dead Dave approved.

Played this for awhile last year but stopped due to constant in app warnings on the game not having been updated and would cause our device to slow down. We were disappointed. Lo and behold on a whim we check the game app over the weekend to discover it has been updated for iOS11. Now if they can add the two expansions that would make this game even more fun than before.

Thank you for the iOS update we love it.

Our daughter and we really missed this game while it was unplayable. This is one of our favorite time wasters when were waiting for something. Cant wait to eat her brains again.

Doesnt fill iPad mini 6 screen. A bug occasionally starts us with 4 coins instead of none. Could use expansion dice from Horde physical edition too.

Brilliant game overall, and though we like many things about this digital version such as the zombies voice and the overall simplicity, there are just too many problems to make it worth playing. We even paid for the upgraded version and our achievements are still not unlocking as they should be. Ways to make this more enjoyable would be getting the achievements working (and maybe even add more achievements to give the game some longevity, adding additional statistics to log and track, letting us have more control over the dice (forces a reroll when you dont score brains which we don't see anywhere in the original rule book), perhaps different zombie skins to play against, and explain somewhere what the Game Center nickname is, how it effects the game, and make it so that it remembers your selection so that you dont have to reselect it every time. Im not too savvy with modern tech so Im sure some of the fault here lies on us, but there is definitely a lot of room for improvement to make it more user friendly and less clunky. Overall, we think this is a really amazing game and we hope it gets the love and attention it deserves. Meanwhile, we will be feasting on the brains from our hardcopy of the game and checking back here for updates. Please dont overlook the potential of this digital version of a masterpiece dice game.

We love Steve Jackson games but wish the developer would support the games we have bought. Cant use upgraded (1$) multiplayer on additional devices and no updates to any of the dice games in forever (cant even play Dino dice anymore). Hello Steve Jackson are you there??? P.S. Please do munchkin on iPad.

Cute game. Not a lot of strategy. Roll until you die, or play it safe and eat a few brains at a time. We keep hoping they add in the extras available with the physical dice game. Fun way to eat up a few minutes. Watch out for those shotguns.

Needs a button to fast forward the computers turn. Also the ad for the paid version said play with friends. You cant do that at all. All the paid version does is add more computer zombies to the game. Hitting new game doesnt work. It will be the same game you were playing.

We played 30 l, yes 30 straight games and lost each one. The Ai would get doubles and triples of brains with each roll but our character would only get one and then get shotgunned. Get the real game. Not worth it even if its free or .99.

To preface this review we want to say we love the real dice game! Play a few rounds almost daily with our 8 year old son. However its a very simple game with few mechanics and this is where the app falls short. The app is incredibly boring and not engaging. You just tap once and then sit. When you have a simplistic game like this you need to add some fun albeit superfluous mechanics. Dice are fun because you throw them. Watching a zombie hand drop dice is incredibly boring. A simple flip mechanic with your finger to simulate you throwing the dice and the dice animations showing the dice tumbling around more would be a huge improvement. Also animating the icons on the dice. Have the brain be squishy and pulsating, have the shotgun symbol explode outward maybe a little smoke rising from them and show the feet running off the dice. Things like this would make the app a lot more stimulating and engaging. As it stands now it doesnt hold our attention at all. It needs to feel more like throwing dice and we would love this app.

Other reviewers are correct, the odds of winning against the machine are not quite right. Also, it would be nice to know which round you are in of the overall game to make choices on how daring you need to be to win.

This game is rigged sooo bad that you cant even use it to pass time and have fun. We were 11 and the computer was 3.. He got 7 brains then 6 his next turn while we got 3 shotguns and 4 brains in the 2 turns that he got 13 brains. And thats how it happens ALL THE TIME. They tried making it harder but they coded it so the computer wins every time. So dumb but we guess we expect nothing less from SJG.

Could not enjoy this game, even though we are a huge fan of the physical game. Every round we played, if we had one shotgun and choose to roll again, we would get two shotguns and end our turn. We would then watch the AI score 7 in one turn. We played 7 games. Each game had the same issue. Deleted afterwards.

AI rolls brains while player rolls shotguns. Needs to use a better API for RNG.

AI seems to 3 brains in a roll VERY often while get an equal amount of shotguns. Waste of time, just play the real game.

Our wife and we love this game, is it ever coming back.

It wont run on iOS 11!!! Please update!!! Its so much fun with wife and kids at dinner.

We loved this game!!! We have the dice at home to play with our family and the app on our phone to play by ourselves or with coworkers. We hope the update comes out soon so itll work on the new iOS bc its only been two days and we already miss this game.

We love the physical version of this game. It deserves a better app than this. It's still being advertised on the website and in the game directions, so it should be updated and improved. Also it should have the two expansions available for purchase.

Loved the dice game & loving the app!! Please do an update with the 2 zombie dice expansions.

We're a fan of the dice game and we think that the app is just as fun as the dice game.

BEST GAME And friends love the dice.

Our only complaint is that none of the physical expansions are available digitally as in-app purchases in this game.

It is just like the first and we love the normal so FIVE stars.

The game plays extremely well with the original 13 dice. However with the two expansions out we should also have an expansion place for this iOS game. We're missing the pink hero girl die and guy die. Santa and the bus !! These need to be implemented seeing as it adds so much more to the game. Lastly when playing and said player reaches 13 everyone should have a chance to roll to win. Example if the last player reached 13 then no one after can roll to break the win.

Great game, but the current version will not save our player name from one game to the next, and it also won't allow us to leave it blank. Uninstall & reinstall doesn't help. Fix this please.

Just like the dice game except with funny zombie names and sound effects.

Even if you're not into zombies or horror or sci fi, this is a very quick game and highly addictive.

We've got the physical dice game and our family loves it. This is a nice way to play it on the go. The app could be more polished, but the gameplay is there. The upgrade is worth it. Would be nice if a brain counter were added so that it could be used as an accessory to the physical game. We'd pay an extra buck for the hunk/hottie/santa dice too.

Our older brother showed us this game and it is so much fun.

It's the next best thing if you can't play the actual game! -just needs iphone 5 support -needs some bug fixes dealing with Game Center…(achievements) -add zombie dice 2.

There should be an update with zombie dice 2.

We played the free version (single player) and enjoyed it. It has not crashed. We upgraded to the paid version so we can play it with friends. Still no crashes. We have an iPad 3 and am signed into Game Center. We wish it showed the dice eliminated from the pool.

Love the game. Plays just like the dice game. Any chance of adding the three special zombie dice 2 dice.

We love how random the game is! It's very well balanced and leaves a lot to chance.

Used to play the dice game with our brother. But now that we're out of state this would be the perfect way to keep in touch. We'll be your best friend, and give you one more star.

This game is so addictive and fun to play with multiple players.

The dice game was a pleasant surprise to play and enjoy with our son. We stumbled upon the app from seeing it in a Dark Horse Comic ad…. Downloaded the free game and love it. Even worth the $1 upgrade for more features.

Wish they added the double feature expansion on here also if you could play on wifi instead of pass n play. We would definitely pay for those things. Still love the game and the real game.

Like yatzee but better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!we have the game board version love it!!!! Do u.

We play the real dice version so we thought it would be fun to get the app, too. It plays out just like the real game so that makes it good for pass and play. The only thing missing is reaching into the cup to get the dice. The zombie noises are funny at first but they get annoying quickly, so we just turn them off. But their text remarks are still kind of funny to read. We bought the full version to support the developer, and in the paid version the AI does not seem to cheat much. Sure sometimes it rolls six or seven brains with no problem, but many other times we've seen zombies get shotgun blasted when they had a ton of brains and no shotguns at that point. All in all it seems pretty fair. It's a really cute implementation of the dice game. Nice interface. Well done all the way around.

Great app and we've only been playing the free version. Does the expansion come with the full version? We would buy it for sure if t did but we don't see anywhere that it does… The extra three dice in the expansion on the real version gives it a little more spice. Please add it.

We heard of this game for the first time when watching Geek&Sundry's TableTop with Will Wheaton and was thrilled to see they also offer a digital version for iOS devices. The game is fun to play agains the computer or, for $0.99 as in-App-Purchase, against a friend on the same device. And to all those people who feel the need to rate this game badly and throw verbal mud at the developers – really? REALLY? You complain about a game you obviously got for free because all you are doing is playing against the computer, and you still have the guts or need to give a bad rating? It is rigged because you are better when playing the real game? How the dice fall is random, it takes a lot of time to program something that works %100 ALL the time, but even the less sophisticated random generators are about 95% when it comes to randomness. And for a FREE game, heck, even for $0.99 that is a really good deal you are getting here, so stop complaining already! And again, you guys most likely paid nothing, zero, nada, zilch. Get a life, go outside, meet people, maybe work and do something valuable with your time rather than living your false feeling of entitlement. We enjoy playing the game, even though we would love to see some retina images in the near future and maybe the function to play with another player over WiFi on two devices. That would be fabulous! :).

This is an awesome time waster! It would be kinda cool if you could make your own zombi and play with people on the game center though. Over all this is one of the best zombie games ever.

SJ Games did it again! A fun, simple game thats highly addictive.

Just like the dice game. Dice can be more fun, with the right crowd. Start with the free app (and the dumb zombie), upgrade to the 99c version for playing with your friends (pass around). Great stuff!!! Fnord.

Pay the 99 cents and get one of the best family party games on iOS… Fast paced, fun, and addictive. This is really not meant to be a single player game.
