The game kept locking up. We deleted the app and reinstalled it. We lost all our points. Over 900,000. Game still locks up.
This has always been the best sudoku app. But the new update keeps freezing the whole app. We have to completely exit out of the app at least 5 times per game.
Just let us play the game, stop the annoying ads.
The game is great but the recent update gas cause the game to lock up and it's getting who reset.
We love this version but the adscome on. We have no idea how long they have to be present for before we can return to the game. Its incredibly annoying. We dont mind the ads but there should be an exit to them after 30 seconds.
Ive enjoyed this app for years but suddenly, pin the last month or so, something changed and the app continually freezes mid-game. After a couple of hours you can resume your game where you left off only to have it freeze again. Very annoying.
Was great. Have learned the a good game app wanting to update s/b ignored. Deleted after opening game led a tedious loop trying to get you to download another game If its working fine dont upgrade.
We have been playing sudoku for years with the same version, but the new and improved version is loaded with advertisements that interrupts the game that we will seek a different version. We have gone back to the original, we are at level 108 with over 3,000,000 points.
Within the last week or so, the game constantly crashes or freezes in the middle of a puzzle. It has become very frustrating. We have the ad-free version, so it is not an ad issue like many of the other reviews. Please fix. Update: less crashing now. More just lag.
Its great and easy to see. The only thing missing is a way to quickly enter number possibilities in multiple squares at once.
What happened to the previous version which showed all possible numbers for each square. We found that much more challenging.
We used to love this app but recently the ads persist for so long. Too long actually. What did you do.
We really enjoyed playing this game. We accomplished 25/31 achievements and recently wanted to get started again after a long hiatus but to our surprise unskippable ads were popping up! This game issues to not have any ads, if so they were barely noticeable. But now, we cant even play a decent game with the unwelcomed intrusion. We just deleted the app because of that.
After most recent update you can no longer remove numbers from boxes once that number has been used in each row, column and grid square. Example: You have the number 4 in 6 boxes within one of the grid squares. You figure out which box the 4 belongs in and its the last 4 that needs to be placed. This leaves 5 boxes still showing the number 4 along with the other numbers that might belong in those boxes, but you cant remove those 4s.
Helps us make it through the day.
We downloaded this app 7 years ago- it has survived all app purges. Good Sudoku app.
This is a good brain puzzle and if you need something to do sudoku is where to go.
The last update was really bad, it added adds every time you open it plays and add you have to watch the add to play. We deleted the app cant stand the adds.
If you dont want to pay to be rescued from advertising, then it will cost you about two minutes of brain death between games but we really do think this version of sudoku is worth the money or the brain death it cost.
We love this Sudoku game and have played it lots. However, just recently it makes us go to several ads before the game will come up. Thanks for your quick response and explanation. Now Im back getting in to game easily. Yay.
Ive played this for years and it has been the best Sudoku app available for actually teaching strategy. Big thanks to the developer for responding to our previous review complaining about the ads – we had not realized we could pay a onetime fee to get rid of them, and Ive now done that. Nice to be able to enjoy the puzzles again.
After last update there is now a blinking ad at the top of our screen that is very nauseating. Please remove this. We love THIS Sudoku and really dont want to go with another app.
So many of them have no close x. Have to double click and swipe them out in order to get back to game.
Im a fan of this sudoku app, which works well and provides outstanding hints, but recent ads have made it unusable. Some, such as the one for the sorting games, simply wont go away without quitting the app. Others cover part of the tableau so that you cant play. Its incredibly frustrating, to the point where Ive simply stopped trying. Its a recent problem, and if its fixed, Ill happily restore our 5 star rating.
We love using it to help us learn how to use logic to solve sudoku without the use of aids. However, its the really annoying ads especially tai * really hinders our wanting to go back to play.
First, for anyone considering downloading or buying this app, you should do it! Its well-designed, plays well, and the excellent hints actually teach you so you can spot new patterns going forward. For some reason, though, this latest update takes away 2 incredibly useful functions. One was being able to stay in the notes mode and still solve squares by long pressing. That saved us having to toggle back-and-forth between modes every time which is do much better than the other sudoku apps out there. The other was being able to delete notes from a square even after that number was completely filled in. Why would you take away functions that made the game so much easier to play.
This game has been exactly what we were looking for. We no frills no animations no sounds if you so choose game. The last update now has this annoying pop up when you key a new number and it lags severely due to the pointless animation. The whole animation is unnecessary, and obviously, its slow. There should at least be an option to disable the pointless animations.
Ive played this version for years. The flashing ads were annoying but the developers were very responsive and told us how to report them.
Love the game and how it works. Can you add a bypass for the adds so we dont have to sit so long if we dont want the game you are advertising? Thanks.
Good app. Would be nice to have smaller fonts and less bold to choose from. When choosing new game it wont let us play a new game. It goes to ads every time. Until about the 7 th try. Thats annoying.
If the apps settings included the ability to turn off the audio sound effects, Id call this app perfect. Everything else is fantastic.
Id like to have the slightly larger grid back as well as the total score. Just our two cents.
It changes the way you play, from the paper and pencil version. Thats OK. Its a good time, figuring out strategies to try, and improving over time, making more good plays and fewer mistakes, taking less time (on average). The advertisements get annoying, but you can usually get rid of them in 5 seconds or less. It would be nice to have an option to pay for no ads. We dont know the Swordfish-Sashimi-Sushi combinations. Maybe someday. Maybe not. Maybe thats what the hints are for. (Later) we discovered that our version the one we reviewed above) had taken over a gig (!) of our iPads memory. We couldnt update other apps. So we deleted Sudoku, and reloaded it. Now we have ads constantly flashing across the top of the screen, and it responds slowly we have to wait and look every time we touch the screen, to see if it did what we asked.
We get that we have to watch ads. But after watching the ads the app freezes. It wont let us leave the ad to go back to the game. Restarting the app doesnt help we just have to watch an ad again.
This version of sudoku is great. We would still love it if we could get the game to start, but the ads in front go on forever after some recent update. Not just any ads either. Horrible ones that no sudoku mindered person would buy. Please fix.
Oct 25 – Dropping from 5 stars to 3. The hints engine has changed and runs out of gas leaving you with trial and error as the hint. It used to be fantastic and would even show AIC solutions. Now it is so basic Id like our $ refunded. We suspect the corporate profit focus shifted to jamming as many ads into the game as possible. We see a lot of comments with frustrated users deleting the game due to ad fatigue. We paid to remove ads. Still a nice interface but some dumb decision to change the hints engine has left this game truly disappointing. Sept 25 – This is the best interface out there! The AUTOFILL for notes is such a timesaver! The notes font is larger than every other sudoku app and actually readable without eye strain. The hints are very educational and allow us to then go and research new patterns so Im learning and really advancing our skills. No 3 mistake limit. Easy to remove notes with one toggle. Other apps make you toggle each time you want to remove a note. The way it highlights for focus cells is the entire cell, not just a tiny note. Really enjoy playing this app.
Slow to load, slow to play. Makes us wonder what its doing in the background. Appears to be owned by an online casino app company now. Kinda done with it now.
Prior to the Sept 2025 version, this was by far the best Sudoku app, but now it is very frustrating. Please bring back the feature where you can press & hold to select the correct entry and not have to switch in and out of candidate or notes mode. Also, now the opening ad is ridiculously long and you cannot skip it until it is in its second or third section of the ad. We understand needing to make money from ads, but the format is now untenable. It's not worth waiting through the ads anymore. :(.
Has been one of our favorites for years. Nice graphics and hint system. However, the last update ruined the interface which is now clunky and slow. Hopefully they change it back soon.
Dont understand why the change! Can no longer hold to select number, more clicks, more accidental errors, slower solve times. Is there a way we can go back to the old version.
We paid for ad free awhile ago. Now suddenly we can not access the game because when we start a game Im locked into an Ad for Mahjong that never ends. We finally deleted and reinstalled the app and that solved the ad problem. However, Im still disappointed in the latest upgrade. The new to us requirement that you must select a square and then tap the number to fill in really slows the game down. We did discover the feature of selecting an already filled square in order to display all squares with hints for that number. Such major changes in the behavior of the game should have been accompanied by heres what we changes hints.
We have been playing this sudoku game for a couple of years and find it very enjoyable. All of a sudden this will no longer work. We uninstalled it and then reinstalled it from the App Store on our iPad, and it still will not work. Im so disappointed and am uncertain what to do.
Ive been playing Sudoku on this app for over 9 years. This latest update has dropped one of the best features of this app: the ability to press on a square and have a number line appear and easily fill the square. We played a few games every evening but since the update we havent bothered. Hopefully the next update will fix this.
This version is slow to respond and has a very annoying banner add at the top. Also our old version was upgraded without any input from us. Not nice. Will find another supplier.
Great game, but killing us with ads.
Not that it matters necessarily, but we dont like the scoring system when you accidentally make a mistake and correct it. For example, lets say youre trying to input a 3 and you accidentally hit 4. You realize your mistake, fix it, and its correct (we.e., 3 is the right number for that square). However, you still get a deduction of 100 points for even though there is error. This seems to be a recent update and you cant fix it.
Since updated the ads have slowed the game so not playable.
We have used the brainium sudoku for years. It would appear that another company has taken over for them. The ads are so incredibly invasive, they last bloody forever, and you can't get rid of them. It just irritates us half to death, and we have just deleted the app.
The new ads are impossible to deal with. We love this app, but we spend too much time trying to close the ads on the latest update.
This was our favorite game. You updated it and now we don't like to play it anymore. Plus the AI keeps interrupting the game with an icon that we can't play over.
