Community Insight:
(note: im pretty sure below is our old review of this?) we remembered this game existed and redownloaded it on a whim and god dude. Just gorgeous. We could echo the same critiques others made but we just thought it was amazing. Such a clever premise. We, like many others, totally cried when the protag opened the door and the music got louder. We loved this game as a kid and it was a joy to rediscover it. Gavin brown, idk where you are now but we hope you know this short little game has touched the hearts of many! This game,is just amazing. The graphics are beautiful. We're glad this game was created. The best thing you can get in life is care. Respect. We don't know how anyone wouldn't want to play such an inspiring game like this. Gavin Brown, let us just say what beautiful music you play. Please try to make more inspiringly happy but tragic games like this amazing game. P.S ,we bet millions started crying towards this beautiful game.
We wish the song was able to be put out into America this soundtrack is addicting the game itself is sad but at the same time its very relaxing we very much recommend this game.
Please make more! The story and concept is amazing, we just wish there was more to play! Adding a way to pause it may be nice too.
This game is beyond beautiful. When we first tried it out, we thought it was a silly game but once we dived deeper into the characters world it really began to open our eyes (no pun intended). We highly recommend this game.
We really loved this game !! Having to just use your sense of hearing to imagine what's going on and navigate around was really fun :D Although this game was very short which was a little upsetting, it was really enjoyable. This really made you use your imagination and it was super fun we totally recommend downloading this.
The sounds were so high quality, the story with emotion but also plot that actually goes somewhere, we love short narrations/stories like this. Also the genre, like post utopic/dystopic? Despite it being a bit short and we also was wondering whether there was a save or pause button, having more dark space certainly made things a lot more immersive, and it has a powerful impact we think. It was very satisfying to go through Thanks devs.
We love the communication in the game and the storyline. We highly recommend this game.
We never knew how difficult being blind was. Ive always tried to know, but this game really shows it. Great job devs.
The game is so great but it's really short! Please make a longer version, the story is intriguing and has so much potential.
We love the concept of the game, it was nice to play something fresh and new! And the story was great too. Thx for making a great game.
We loved this, it has such a unique concept and so much potential, we only wish it was longer, this was such an amazing game to play.
We really love the music, and how the sound graphics are! We hope you add more to the story and make more ways to make an imaginary of whats happening.
Wow! Great game. We like the idea of playing a game where youre blind. Just a couple things. The game is REALLY short. Making it a little bit longer would be fun. Also, why did his eyes have to be BURNED OUT?!?! Its a little scary. But overall great game.
We wish it was longer then 15 minutes.
This game is amazing. The first time we played it when we opened the door at the end and the music flooded in, we cried. Yes, it is short. Yes, we would love to know what happens next. But its free (seriously we couldnt even find a link to donate to the dev so we bought his song on itunes) its beautiful, and its a truly unique experience.
We can not recommend this game enough. It gave us a moment to just be. We closed our eyes and just experienced things instead of worrying about the world. It felt like we were hearing music for the first time again.
Its a very beautiful game sound wise it is best with headphones, but it really makes you feel like you are there in the world, we would love to play more of this type of game.
Audio and gameplay are amazing. We feel like Im playing Amazon Alexa the magic door adventure. Great audio, etc.
We personally love this game! The music and voice acting is great.
You know Im not some crazy artist or anything thats going to go into crazy detail Im just a regular teen and we berly review enything but this game really hit us in the gut this definitely deserves more love than it has its so different and beautiful AND WE WANT MORE ! Ceep doing what your doing and ceep geting inspired by how beautiful life is God bless.
So this is a game that could use some work, like 3 things 1, more levels: the level is SO much fun! But It could use some new ones, BUT IT IS SWAWESOME!!! (Sweet + awesome) 2: dude, for real, this game is great!!! But, the doornob thing is kinda annoying 3: so, all in all, THIS IS GREAT!!!! Thank yall so much for making this, and we LOVE THE SOUND TRACK!!!! Thx, your the best, Caleb Pollard. (Yes that is our name ).
This game is the coolest thing ever! Instead of using sight to see, sound is the next option. We loved this game so much and the storyline that went with it! And we guess we could say we could play this game with our eyes closed.
Absolutely beautiful storytelling and interaction. We understood every part of it, and it was so well told it played like a movie in our head. The theme is beautiful. Question, will there be another game based off this, a sequel? Or an expansion of the game? The storyline is very interesting, and we would love to know what happens next.
The game is soooo relaxing! We just lay down on our bed in complete darkness, get a warm blanket and close our eyes… We were surprised how the game was so short… Will there be more updates? This is a brilliant concept by the way. It's been 3 years come on guys give us an update! We're replaying this scenario for hundreds of times already.
This is easily one of the best mobile games Ive ever played. Though its unfortunately short and – obviously – doesnt feature a visible world to explore, the immersion is PHENOMENAL. We adore the concept of a dystopian world explored solely through the eyes (or lack thereof) of a blind character, and we feel like this definitely has potential to be a precedent for longer games that could progress past the tap-to-interact style. Keep up the good work man.
We really love the idea for the game, has a unique feeling and uses that to really help the player get a feeling of what it is like to live as the person in the game, could use some more events though. The story is quite interesting and could go to great lengths if written correctly, overall a 4 as of now, but a 5 in potential, Im definitely going to wait for updates on what becomes of this.
This game was wonderful and the song at the end it was really nice it was a happy, sad mix which made it all the more enjoyable. If we could give this app more stars we WOULD.
We feel like the ending of this game can be interpreted in many different ways. It can be very confusing to some people, very beautiful, peaceful happy or anything. We love the feeling we get when we close our eyes and just listen. And we personally, being a Christian, take the story as how a mans life is just so bad he doesnt want to live anymore, and he wants to be with what he loves. Which in this case would be the music in heaven. We personally think the ending of the game is that when he wakes up on the boat and walks into the room with music, and becomes louder. We believe this is one interpretation that when he woke up on the boat, he had died, and when he entered the room, he entered heaven.
Doing exercises like this is fun. But doing them can be an enlightening experience in how people with disabilities function in the world. When studying for our Masters, we had to do many things with disabilities because you cant teach daily activities if you dont know how to do them yourself. (How do you sweep, wash dishes and count money if you dont have vision, or have a severe impairment?) So, we were blindfolded and had to walk all the way across a huge campus, had to order food, and make our way to a table where our friends were. All while blind. Another time, we had to maneuver ourselves across campus from one class to another in a wheel chair. We ordered food on our knees (Dwarfism), we used sound cancelling headphones and had to buy thing in the store. This app is a tool that instructors could use to show new students what blindness is like, before striking out across campus. Any time we can sample a life of another person so different than we are, it gives us a deeper understanding and acceptance for those individuals.
We love it but we cant get passed the water dripping part.
Sometimes you dont need things to drag out. This was perfect. And you have ten minutes, right? Just download and play this.
We kinda want a sequel of this. Maybe something from the POV of someone else convicted for writing a song next time? Could be neat.
The game relies on an immersive audio experience using the left and right headphones for different sounds. We cant hear out of our right ear :((( There is no point to this review we just wanted to share this very sad story.
We adore this concept. Unfortunately, we did not remember the part about up to 10 minutes of gameplay when we actually started PLAYING the game. When we finished what we THOUGHT was the tutorial, we had actually finished the entire game. We would LOVE more of this.
This was a great game to experience and a wonderful concept! But we do think it needs to be longer! Overall its a great game.
We play a lot of video games, mostly mobile games, and they seem to have gotten stale over the years. We guess even the ones we used to like still dont hold up as much as they did. Maybe they do for different reasons. As a kid we liked challenging games, while as an adult we like simple games. We usually play games with moderate levels of difficulty and we think this is one of them. But we like how you used audio instead of visual cues. The only complaint we have is that we feel like we are randomly tapping everywhere. But we guess that is also what makes the game work so well. Although it is difficult it also is so rewarding to find the solution. Plus the character is so well developed that we swear you could make a whole movie out of it. This game itself would be a great movie. We see that most movies are running off of nostalgia, but a movie based on this game would be one we would be willing to see. We already am invested in the character and we have only played three or so levels. We dont think any game or even any piece of media had been able to do that. For most games it takes a while for us to care about them, or it might never happen. In summary this game makes us feel all sorts of emotions and maybe has made us reconsider what a video game should really be. We think well developed is an understatement for this character. They feel like a real person. Most video game characters still feel like characters because we know they are nonexistent. This character feel like they could have actually existed at some point even if we dont know what they looked like. This game is proof that you dont need to see a character to know them.
This story is incredible, we didnt think much when we downloaded it. We thought it would just be a fun little game. It is so much more than that. It is fully of a story that we dont get to hear much of, only enough where we want to know more. We highly recommend playing it.
This is a wonderful game with mountains of potential. Its such an odd idea that we downloaded it out of pure curiosity, not expecting anything. We were wonderfully surprised. The attention to detail here was amazing, and even though it was so short, we found ourselves completely immersed. We truly do hope that this game is built upon into a longer story, because we would love to experience every moment of it.
Experiencing a little of something unknown like being blind was what attracted us to the app. Its an interesting concept so we decided to try it out. But after going through the whole thing, its not just about experiencing what itd be like to be blind. Theres a whole story, a whole experience, and a whole background where you end up building yourself. The app leaves blanks in the story and your guesses and opinions will end up making a story you basically wrote. This app is absolutely amazing, the audio, the actions, the plot, everything just made us go wow. We love it.
We downloaded this game since it was something we didnt come across before. And it surpassed our expectations. For those raters who were like oh theres only black and no sound, clearly they didnt read the directions. Youre meant to put on headphones. The games sounds and music sent shivers down our spine and the story made us wonder what happened. Although we wished the story told by the protagonist was clearer, it definitely made us curious. The only problem with this game was that its too short (we wish for more). And we wish that we had more interactions with the protagonists world.
Boy does this have potential! It's definitely worth it, especially for people who like to immerse themselves in stories without spending hours on gameplay. This is 10, maybe 15 minutes TOPS. This would be really cool if it were longer, but we're also satisfied with what we got. It's worth it, that's for sure.
Blindscape is such a great game with such a great concept. We had so much fun playing it and we just wish it was longer so we had more to play. It would be fun to find out more about his backstory and his life before he was blind. Great game.
Our first time writing a review! We just wish there are more games like this.
Im… Im at a lost for words. This game isnt bad, obviously by the five stars we gave it but… Do we even call it a game? We cant see. Were just along for the ride. More so is the protagonist just talking to himself or does he know we are watching. We were expecting more, but we are extremely satisfied with what we had got from this. Its vague yet we can paint what this world might be, we can only draw conclusions to what that sound was behind that door. It gives us an erie vibe yet, some speck of hope shines there… This game cant stop there. We hope that youll be adding more to the story. And if not, then we hope that we get the story in some other form.
This very short and simple game is absolutely incredible. It isnt even about experiencing life as a blind person, but more about what you can hear and achieve by inly listening to things. Of course, this doesnt replicate blindness, but it is a great experience.
Playing this game in a dark room, eyes closed, headphones cranked up, is an EXPERIENCE. We really hope the developers make a longer game, the unique storytelling is amazing.
We love it. We simply and truly love this beautiful little app. It touched our heart in such a kind way. We wish we could give more than 5 stars.
It was so fun and the plot was unique and well paced. On top off that it was free… FREE.
We feel like this game is truly awesome. For us, it was calming and really was cool that this game was all about sound and touch but not sight. We have never seen a game like this and this it has a lot of potential. We feel like it could be longer, though. We feel like this ended too soon and left without any closure. This game could have gone into more detail of the setting and characters and what happened before where we jump in. This game is definitely worth downloading, but we would really appreciate it if the creator would update it to make it more understandable and longer. We dont say this as negative but more as constructive thoughts to work on. We have seen a lot of others also say pretty close to our review and we think everyone would be happy if it were to be worked on. So, once again, we truly loved the game and would totally suggest it to everyone.
10 minutes is not enough this game should be like 200 hours long please add more content to it.
