Dig! – Casual Game Review

Dig! Screenshot

Dig! is a Casual/Entertainment/Adventure game from Crescent Moon Games LLC, first launched in 9th May 2013.
It’s rated 4+ and currently has 64+ ratings on the App Store.

What Makes Dig! Stand Out

Join Douglas Chase as he digs up his backyard in search of treasures and fame!

iPhone 3GS not supported

Douglas Chase is a not so great archeologist working for a failing museum. He must dig up objects to save his job and the museum as well.
Nigel the mummy will be out to get Douglas, but don’t worry, Nigel’s sense of direction is not so great (too many years buried in a tomb will do that), however if Nigel does touch your digging line, all heck will break loose!

Many more enemies will join Nigel so collect hats (magic hats of course!), that will help Douglas along his adventure digging deeper and deeper to the center of the earth…

Inspired by the arcade game “QiX”, Dig! is a fast paced game which requires quick changes of direction and strategy to dig out 75% of each level to complete. Different enemies will add to the difficulty however Nigel will always be close by, wandering around as he does. Collect artefacts for money to help the museum and to buy power-ups and hats. Collect exhibit pieces to put into the museum and earn a paycheck for Douglas.

Community Insight:

This is our child hood and we love this game plzzzzz update it plzzz.

So, we have played this game sooo many times and we love it so. But OOOOOHHHH HOW we HATE NIGEL!!!!!!!! He is the first thing that gets us REAL worked up. No, we dont want you to remove him, but he is a big challenge. The second thing that annoys us is that YOU SPELLED ARTIFACTS WRONG!!!! wilhelm scream Look it up in the dictionary! Its not artefacts, its artifacts. With an we. We love this game and nigel, we cant wait to kick your fat butt!! -Travis.

This game is a game full of fun and it can get hard but you need to be patient and strategic! So fun.

Though this game was difficult at the beginning, it evolved into a very fun game that involved lots of skill.

It get hard at time but we enjoy it overall. Nice graphics too.

We beat the game but the difficulty is very high on the later levels you need to buy the better hats and powerups to survive and a little luck :) But AI just seems too smart when the mummy runs really nothing you can do , and the dont randomly move the are very aware of where you are going a little too aware , even if we make it from one side to another we almost always have to stop digging as a gnome will always seem to be at the exact location im trying to dig too. They need to drop the AI just a little bit to make it more enjoyable.

We give it a 4 stars because it's too hard it should have a difficult setting to make it more appealing.

1) it's too easy to die. Game restarts too much. 2) The nature of the enemies isn't clearly explained. 3) we find the proportions of the characters too big for the playing field.

We're up for a good challenge, but this is just frustrating. Controls are fine, just swipe whet you want to go, but monsters are you fast, too many, and know exactly where you are the whole time.

Would be fun with more artifacts and no enemies.

We gave this app two stars because it seems like it would be a fun game if the character would respond correctly to the controls!! We downloaded it b/c appaday recommended it, but when we tap the screen as we were instructed to do to make him run away from monsters he digs instead or just stands there and gets eaten despite us tapping the screen furiously beforehand. We hope the developers work on the GUI touch screen response because we think it will be fun when it actually works correctly.

Developer if youre listening to this we cannot get the game thats why we dont like it because we cant get it and we really want to get it to see what its about but we cant because it wont let us cause it says you need to update it so it works for our iOS so pls update it.

This doesn't make sense considering you're trying to fight EGYPTIAN-themed enemies. Last we checked, elves, blobs, GIANT SQUIDS, and penguins weren't a part of Egyptian armies, especially if they were undead. Want it more realistic? Create more reasonable enemies, like scorpions, MUMMIES, even Egyptian soldier skeletons as enemies and ditch the lame, nonsensical ones. We know it's a child's game basically, but the whole concept is dumb. Instead of having the Egyptian pharaoh himself chasing the character, why not put him in as a final boss, while putting reasonable enemies in lower levels starting with just scorpions and snakes, then move slowly to putting mummies and other harder ones in later levers like maybe level 10 instead of 2.

Couldn't even play tried 4 times getting rid of other apps in background, restarting phone, Tried on airplane mode and we got nothing but crashes.

Loads like it's going to launch, then force closes every time…can't even play. Please fix for ios7.

Good thing we didn't pay money for this app, as we cannot even start the game on our iPhone 4s.

We cant even play!!!! It crashes before the loading screen is finished.

IPhone 4S latest iOS and crashed instantly so who knows if this is a good game or not. Clearing the game out and relaunching doesn't help.

Longer load then play time. Completed game in 2 days, only playing occasionally game needs more levels. More explanation needed, area cleared not necessarily area that falls.

The controls are either too unresponsive or make you go in the wrong direction, the enemies are smarter than heat seeking missiles and when they start following you, you stop moving while they're moving twice as fast as you. We wish we could rate this game less.

Game crashes everytime we try to play. The little bar loads on the first screen and then closes everytime. Wish we could give zero stars since we've never even played it.

Still have yet to been able to open to play it. Crashes everytime. Want our money back.

Personally we think it is too difficult and not worth it. It's too overwhelming with all the enemies you have to avoid and overall just isn't worth it.

Decent takeoff on the old school Qux game with three major flaws — (1) the section that closed is always the smallest, making it impossible to close out >90% and making strategy pointless. (2) the graphics, while nice, make it really hard to follow the lines. (3) the controls are lagging and slow, and just plain frustrating. Countless times we have tried to initiate a move or powerup only to be ignored by the game. Frustrating deaths ensue The best part of this game– you will earn more coins Doing Nothing all day and letting your museum do the work. Why even bother playing at that point. We have played this game for about 1 hour and will likely uninstall it out of frustration.

Best one we've played on the iPad yet hands down.

Like Qix, but significantly more fun.

The play is great and it's a bit cheeky which make even more entertaining. And if you just can't wait to collect coins to spend in the store the biggest purchase is very reasonable.

A great take on the old Qix game. Challenging in a good way, fantastic production values and great humor. Well worth playing.

We really enjoyed this game. We thought the upgrades were good and the power ups were interesting.

As others have mentioned, this is a souped-up version of Qix. It's well done, but the story part is pretty short, and when it's over, there's not much to do but flounder around on the hardest level, with no real goal. There's not much replay value. $2.99 is too much for one day of play.

Don't see why you can't double back on a dig track and cut a square out.

While this is somewhat fun, not sure how much depth there is to the game for the price. Basically, it's an updated Qix which wasn't a game we really enjoyed back in the day. Would rather that Tasty Poison added new levels to Pocket RPG.

We agree with the other reviews very similar to qix, and it can be challenging at times. However, the storyline is very short and we finished the game in a few hours and now it's just repeating the same levels we've already played. At a certain point there isn't anywhere to go in the game. We regret purchasing the game since we normally don't buy games, this ended up being not worth the 2.99.

This game looks soooooo fun but it won't work we want our money back.

Be banned from the App Store. How could a company put a game out in the marketplace that cannot even start up successfully? Even if this is the greatest iPhone game ever made, we'll never know. Crescent Moon Games is a waste.

Don't even buy the game until they fix it!! You cant even load the game to play.

Cannt even play a second fix the bug ipod touch 4.

It wont even get off the loading screen, total waste.

This seems fun but we can't completely get on it gets to 85% and then it goes to the screen . Then we turned off our 4th gen and it worked once but still hasn't for a while.

We wish we could play the game but the game keeps crashing so we have tried many ways to get the game up but doesn't work. If its not fixed soon we want our money back! It's a waste people reading this that is all.

Unreasonably glitchy enemies kill you from halfway across the map and it requires you to spend money to move along through the game summary dont waste your money.

We just bought and won't load. Keeps crashing!! What a waste of money. Please fix or give us our money back.

Terrible game. Don't waste your money.

Really looking forward to this game, but after installing on iPad 1 it started loading, then went to startup screen. Tried multiple times, same result. Deleted excess baggage to make sure there was room (surely 6 GB would be enough) and same thing happened. Powered down and powered up, still unable to get the game to load fully. Screen says Dug! And shows loading bar, then two seconds later it goes black, then shows the regular screen with apps etc. Would be nice if it worked, but as is it was a waste of money.

The game will not load plz fix this bug and we will rate 5 stars.plz read.
