We like that this crossword game, unlike those from other appsmiths, has a database of words/clues, randomly selecting a grid and filling in the boxes. The rivals feel they have to employ a fleet of gridsmiths to write about a hundred puzzles. While we set the wordometer to US, the clues tend to be sounding UK. We do not knock other lands, but after the fracas from the 1770s, the lingos developed differently. We wish somebody else could make a random crossword filling engine and make the DB more localized. One more thing: we echo other users whod like to see a panic button in case a puzzle is too tough and want to stop the game and get off. So long and thanks for The Rolling Stones.

Worked perfectly before the last update. Right side of grid cannot be seen because zoom in/out does not work.
Clues could be more well written, especially at higher difficulties.
These crosswords have songs, people, films etc instead of WORDS. The only way we can complete the puzzle is to use clues. Not for us. Delete.

10 minutes ago we Purchased the subscription so we didnt have to deal with ads. Still got ads. Tried to hit restore purchase, and its a dead link that doesnt work. No way to refund the subscription despite having just purchased it, and there isnt any way to to contact someone about fixing it. Its a scam.
Clues are geared for Europeans. 3 character country and currency codes. The puzzle writers are obsessed with death, dying, old age, cancer, tumors. Same clues on nearly every puzzle. Im done using this.
We paid for the ad free version, yet the ads are still there. We have reinstalled the app twice and restarted our device. If we try to restore our purchase the app crashes every time. So we have nothing to show for our purchase.
We paid to stop seeing the ads, and they don't stop. We even sent an email to the developer, and they won't get back to us. It looks like this app is just another scam.
We paid 4.99 to get the ad free use of the app and we are still getting ads. Apple was no help in refunding our money. WASTE OF MONEY.
It is not make sense and when you get a hint they add more seconds to the time limit.
Fellow crossword fans, be weary of this app. We did pay the fee for ad removal but service was not rendered. Developers customer service does not respond. We will be submitting a chargeback to this company.
We downloaded this app and paid the money to have no ads. Across the bottom of the puzzle we get one ad after another. Very deceiving.
Most crossword games Ive came across have limited free play. Not the case (so far ) not the case with this app. Bonus for different levels. Our new go to app.
How dare you use clue: lacking intelligence and worse yet the ANSWER: stupid. How demeaning. Hurtful. As bad as gets. Have we (the whole of humanity) not progressed beyond that language usage? All people with learning disabilities deserve an apology.

We downloaded this game over four years ago. We dont remember there being any ads. Now, we get a 30-second ad before and after each game and when we start each game we have to force close and reopen the app because the ads seem to be glitching the game (puzzle up, clock running, no clues). Also, the game has regional settings but the english-language clues are all British regardless of which region is set.
This app is good, but we have a couple of issues. First, once in a puzzle it is impossible to get out without finishing. If you are having difficulty, you must jettison through solving. The other issue is that at least once each time we play we are offered "a more personalized experience", which means allowing the app access to our device. Beyond those things it is a fun game.
The game is fine but the pop up ads continue to be very annoying.
They seem to have fixed the constant crashing of the match clues for compound words. Were it not for that and for the various bad clues (that having no relationship to the word being sought) this would be higher rated! Clues seem like someone thats not a native English speaker was writing them. You cant make a decent crossword puzzle if you have to use Google translator to create the clues! Ridiculous and a waste of time.

We love crosswords, but feel awkward about skipping out to the internet to hunt for words. This game has a hint mode that shows you the letters in the word all scrambled. Just enough help to let you push through most words. The user interface is clean, well-laid out, and intuitive. You probably won't need another crossword game.
This game will give you hours of challenging entertainment. We can't put it down.
We enjoy playing a game while watching mindless TV but much too small on a phone. Some of the hints are so-so and misdirected.
We love a challenge but some of the clues are too challenging. Who knows country codes or the chemicals.
Simple fun free old style no frills crossword. Nice clues. Good system of hinting by reveal letter/word or show wrong. Ads are not obtrusive. The only reason we gave 4 stars is that sometimes when there letters in a blank word and you try to fill in the fill skips filled boxes which is fine but it's not consistent.
It is a good app for IPads. One problem with it Is that the instructions are not in English and another is if you don't like a puzzle you can't just switch to a different one easily. Otherwise we would rate it higher.
Everything is great about this – but… As others have pointed out, many many of the word clues don't make sense to us big fat Americans. They probably make perfect sense to the one who routinely leaves with a "Pip pip, cheerio and all that jolly rot.".
Decent game, nice choices of levels for easy to difficult, nice letter hint and word verification. Con: we find the clues given to be extremely vague or way off base on occasion.
Although there are many options in the settings for this game, the clues are often irrelevant or obscure to the point of being ridiculously unfamiliar, especially to non-UK players. Many of the answers to the puzzles are obviously not based upon US pop-culture, but UK/EU trends. That doesn't make the app a poor one, just a very frustrating one.
This is a terrible app. The words and clues seem to be made up by people whose first language is not English. Im deleting it.

We really enjoy this app. We can work on our puzzle as we watch tv and convalescing. It's also very inexpensive.
These are fun and challenging and being able to choose the size of the puzzle is great. We can decide to do the smaller ones if we have less time.

Some of the worst clues ever. Many of them make no sense at all.
Clues are NOT good. Some don't make sense, some are confusing, some are misspelled, some are just stupid. We can't believe this is created by someone who speaks English as their first language. If it is, you need to use a dictionary.
Basically works ok. Clues so weird & off the wall it's not so much fun.
These puzzles are hard and confussing. The clues doesn't match the answers and/or doesn't come near to making sense to the clue. So disappointed.
We agree with critic9. Clues are not helpful, nor are the subjects of multi-generational interest.
