We would consider this app as a very good chess app, it serves its purpose well, however, their is a glitch that happens occasionally when we submit our move. It says that our move is illegal, the same as it would if the move were actually illegal. This is not a deal breaker for us as it does not affect move submission. Anyways, we wrote this review in hopes of it being fixed, so devs, if you see this, please do consider fixing this.
Have been a subscriber for 3+ years. The app is straight forward and stable in iPad and iPhone. Our only gripe is that there are not enough players, so you end up playing the same group all the time. Will probably not renew.
For some reason the app doesnt remember you. You have to log in every time you launch the app. We understand if this was our bank app. But its just chess. Does it have to be that secure? Or is this just a bug? This bug has been in reviews for years. Fix it.
Game analysis is totally cheating.
We use a we phone. It is impossible to navigate the app or the site. We can not access our current games. We can not access our past game. Its almost impossible to do something as simple as a rematch. This site used to be simple to use now it is impossible.

Easy, fun to play in tournaments with people from around the world. We pay extra to subscribeworth it to avoid ads and enter tournaments.

This app works great. Well designed IMO and plenty of features. An example: conditional moves, so that you can say "if he goes here we will go there". Also a decent rating system. One feature missing that we would like to have-a way to email a completed game. You can email a screen shot of the final position but not the moves. Two thumbs up.
Doesnt seem like a real app, just some UI interacting with the website or some access point.
Sometimes they work and sometimes they dont. It would be nice to have push notes working all the time.
It does work, so the 3 stars. Otherwise, its poorly coded, especially the login procedure. It always comes up with invalid credentials when it starts. You must log out, even tho you havent had a chance to sign in. When you sign in, the email address starts with an upper-shift on, doesnt give you the @-sign keyboard, and after you enter the password hitting the enter key does nothing. You must go to the upper right corner and hit sign-in. Sloppy work, little testing. A few other annoyances here and there, like messages that flash and quickly disappear. Sloppy.
Limited number of people to Play with. The board wont self refresh with players next move. You have to switch screens. No actual chess timer to play speed chess. Piece style options limited. Color choices limited. You can only chat when its your move.
Using a password generator with long complex password. No issues with web GUI, only with app.
Wont remember your password. You have to sign in all the time.
We have been a Red Hot Pawn member for more than a decade, and we are pleased with the recent release of a dedicated iOS app. It is nice to have the option of using the website or the app. You'll find plenty of opponents from beginners on up. Games can be simple one-of invites to friends (or members for the community from around the world!), but there are also options for tournaments and leagues ("clans"). The app interface is clean and usable, and like the website we expect continual improvement and added features. To set expectations, users should understand correspondence chess is generally not played in one sitting, and games typically are completed over hours, days or months.
Have been waiting a long time for this app. Looks like wait was worth it. When moving a piece a crosshair appears across the whole board which makes it easy to see exactly where you will drop the piece. We don't see where we can archive our completed games.
We left RHP because our computer broke and we wanted to play CC on the go. At the time, RHP App was horrible. So glad you updated it. We might have to buy another sub now at RHP. See you at the boards.
It would be better if the app would show which piece the opponent took on the last move! Also where are the completed games.
Cant sign up on iPhone. Nothing happens.
Finally! Red Hot Pawn in an iOS app! Been waiting for it. Well done, simple and clean. It would be nice to have the option of changing the app's main top bar color and theme…not digging the red. Otherwise pretty great! Thanks.
