Dope Wars (Weed Edition) Lite – Strategy Game Review

Dope Wars (Weed Edition) Lite is a Strategy/Puzzle game from Ian Wall, first launched in 29th June 2017.
It’s rated 17+ and currently has 1,328+ ratings on the App Store.
What Makes Dope Wars (Weed Edition) Lite Stand Out
The good news – you have $2,000 in cash, and licenses to legally trade. The bad? You owe $5,500 to Dishonest Harry, a not-too-friendly loan shark, interest is piling up, he'll be visiting you soon for his money, and he owns a chainsaw! Just sayin'. You only have one choice – dive into the world of wholesale trading of weed to make money fast and save your skin!
As you travel from location to location, a day passes and local prices change. Buy low, sell higher! But beware – Officer Hardass is looking out for you, so get prepared for a stand-off with the cops by visiting the Dope Wars Store to tool up for the inevitable confrontation! You can also buy more storage space along the way at the Store, so look out for sales and special offers.
Along the way, special market events will cause prices to rise or fall spectacularly, so be ready for these, this is how you get rich! There are muggers out there, so try to keep unused cash in the bank, earning interest. Other loan sharks can lend you money to solve short-term liquidity crunches, but they'll be after their money soon enough! If you get injured, pop in to see the local doctor at his surgery, but look out – he has no scruples, and you have kidneys. A bad combination.
Listen out for the crazy old lady, too. She sure has some wacky things to say, but occasionally, she'll give you a very handy tip off, which is essential to your financial success in Dope Wars. Also, keep an eye out (and cash on hand) for the chance to buy a larger coat. More space, more profit! Good luck my friend, you're sure going to need it!!
If your final score is good enough, you can submit it to the Game Center Leaderboards and see how well you fare against your friends, or the whole planet!
This is the ad-supported version. The full version removes ads, allows 15, 60, 90, 120 and 365 day game lengths for turn-based games and 1, 5, 10, 15 and 20 minutes for timed games, shows arrows indicating direction of daily price changes, and adds the powerful RCL 9000 weapon.
This version of Dope Wars is ported directly from the wildly popular version of the PC game, also from Beermat Software. Same great addictive game play, modified for your mobile device!

Player Experience Highlights
Community Insight:
It reminds us of dope wars that we use to play in the 90s.
The customization ability is second to none. Would give more stars if we could.
We have been playing versions of this game for years, before Smart Phones were offering the experience, so we may just be too used to looking at the Linux version, but we find the navigation to be a bit difficult, on an iphone. It is still a fantastic strategy game, though, and highly addictive, providing great entertainment. A web based port of the PC classic would be amazing. Lots of fun, regardless.
The original was free. Nobody wants ads. Go away.
Great game. Classic. Recent update is a big improvement, too. Only criticism is the game mutes your background music, sounds, etc.
We had an older version of this app whose appearance was a bit plain, though at least it was relatively clean and functional. Unfortunately it got auto-updated 2.0.0 before we could intervene and the updates are pretty intolerable. Text, icons, and buttons are overly enlarged and colorized to where the screen is a visually cacophonous, crowded, confusing mess. The most egregious example is if you go to Sell then at first its a Red button (why?) and then at the next step the colors flip-flop to where Red is now Cancel and Sell becomes Green (double-why??). It couldnt be more dissonant and counter to good design if you tried (we guess Apples letting anything through these days) If we could downgrade we would/will, but we wont use thissigh.
We put the hoods in Houston on here.
Can someone please make game like this like the origional dope_wars game!! Just change the names of weed to different drugs and charge a few dollars to own it. You will make a fortune on simple basic old school version with a few tweaks like playing for 7-30-60-120-365 days. Great game though.
There needs to be a harder level than medium where the prices dont change but theres more police chases and mugging. Its not fun for us to figure out the prices all over again each time. Thank you.
We have an unaccountable desire to dye our hair blue.
We played this decades ago and its still a blast.
Very nice. Not too hard, not too easy. A fun remake of a classic game. Will buy the full version.
Great interface and simple useful trading tools. Its a fun way to kill some time. We want to buy the pro version soon.
We luv this game this our life.
Other then having to pay for the full version Id have to say this game is lit asf.
This reminds us of the day we used on the computer. DOS days. Holy crap. Wish we didnt have to pay for the 365 day. We know its not much but would like to see fully free.
We would love to see the algorithms that this game uses.
Almost like we remember in high school.
Remember playing this-on our Palm Pilot, in 8th grade, in 2000! Cloud 9.
We like the new theme!! But the old theme was dope too.
We used to play a similar version in high school back in the 90s and this is 100% entertaining and addictive. Love this game.
We remember playing the old PC version. We like the modern version this app offers.
That app is cool. It would be better if the weapons worked on the app. Is there a issue? Cant give a five star cause of it.
Not sure when this was last updated but seems like its nonstop cop chases now. We usually play on Medium difficulty so we tried basic and easy to see if there was a difference and as far as cop chases, there wasnt. Otherwise, the game is just as addictively fun as ever.
Stop playing and just make crack house available for we phone we would pay for that in a heartbeat.
We were just telling our lady about this game and it made us look it up wowwww. Its still popping we just miss all the other names that were used.. Like fish scale.
A blast from the past. Love that they refreshed it.
Another reviewer mentioned Palm Pilot classic… Well Im going to show our age here and say that this classic goes back much, much further than Palm – to the days of MS-DOS. With no shortage of customization, this game is great for nostalgia, but also an excellent, fast paced competition between friends. Therere no super high res graphics or sound marvels to be found. Indeed, the game maintains the charm of the original, but is still packed full of new features. We find this game (again) really suits our need for touch screen gaming satisfaction.
Not bad just like the original one.
Ive played this game for over 25 years. We were so happy when we found it for our tablet over three years ago. We loved it havent played it, it wasnt exactly the same as on PC but super close. We did an update and now its all just weed. We shouldnt have to take the time to edit the products!! If you wanted one for just weed you shouldve made a new app. We like the way it was before, will be removing from our tablet.
Poor rehash of a classic game….dont bother wasting money on this travesty… Apparently this (cr)app was written by 2 college dropouts on crack……Once the police grab you, youre stuck and get shot until you die: If you buy certain drugs, your mom used them all…… The original was fun to play- this rip off…not so much.
We guess you have to play this a LOT before you understand the price ranges. But we never had enough fun playing it to get to that point. Seems unfair, cheap, and the cops come after you WAY too much. Its not like the old school versions of this game AT ALL. Its unfair and unbalanced. We never seemed to be able to make a good deal, and believe us we tried quite a bit! Its crap, dont bother with it. We found it to be more frustrating than fun.
The classic was better, Drug Wars. Simple and fun, not this extra. Its cool that its about weed, but the whole experience of other drug categories were better.
… Crappier, with adds, and forces you to pay to do any editing. Taking a venerable freeware title and soliciting payment is shameful.
This is an update to the original Dope wars on PC. We loved the original but hate this implementation.
Love to play this addicting game.
A absolute must for the App Hall Of Fame.
Maybe its the free version, or maybe we just dont know how to use the app, but we dont like the fact that it wont let us repay some of the loan that is outstanding. If we only have partial money. It forces us to keep carrying the debt at 15-30% even though we have cash in the bank earning 6%. We wouldnt mind paying for the full version if that takes care of that issue, but no commenter mentions it, and the preview doesnt mention it either.
Updated version of a super old Palm Pilot classic. Love it. Very true to the original with a few minor tweaks. Great work.
Dope Wars reminds us of the classic PC game that is so addicting to play.
This has become our favorite game to play everyday.
Great time killer. Love some good weed.
This takes the classic version and amps it up. We hate pay to play games but we'd consider it to support the dev.
This is very similar to the old game Drug Wars. That what we were looking for. Instead of different drugs its a weed strains. Lots of fun and some great features like a market price chart. Have fun.
We were waiting for a newer version to come out. We like all the added features.
We loved the old drug wars. It was simple and fun.
