Mahjong Practice is practice for real American Mahjong with Charleston. Play fun, quick games offline, anywhere, anytime. No internet connection needed. This is the best way to learn the 2025 card.
Suggested Hands:
All possible hand combinations are evaluated and sorted by the highest matching tile count. Play one of these hands or any hand you want. See the combinations of hands with the most overlapping tiles. Develop your strategies selecting hands.
Open Play:
Try different strategies with Replay and Undo. Tiles can be moved around freely.
Play Against Bots or Solo:
When playing solo, the opponent bots play valid patterns and exchange jokers but do not declare Mahjong. Play until you declare Mahjong or the wall is empty in solo mode. Go to Settings to enable bots that win to practice defense.
Hand Validations and Corrections:
See the closest matching pattern when you declare an unknown pattern. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) helps beginning players.
Hand Stats:
Track hands completed, wins and losses. Learn the hands with the highest probability of matching random hands.
Hand Filters:
Select the sections you like to play the most. Hide sections to focus on any given section. Play the whole card.
Large Tiles and Large Tile Font Option:
Tiles are large. Enable the Large Tile Font option to make the tiles even easier to read.

This program is fabulous. It suggests hands which helps players learn the card. It is easy to use as you wait for others in the bus line or other places. You can practice just about anywhere.
The FFFF 2025 222 222 hand is not recognized by the software. Frustrating as it is initially shown as an option, and when you build it you cant win.
Great app for learning the current NMJL card, practicing the Charleston and playing mock games. Tiles are easy to read.
Highly recommend this app to all our MJ friends. Very convenient especially when you dont have the card with you and can be used when no wifi access.
We really love this App. It allows us to learn the new card really quickly. Ive stretched ourselves with more concealed hands in real play. We also think its helped us strategize on how to look for hands and discern which hands are possible, we might not otherwise see. We love ability to replay a hand trying different patterns as well.
When a new card comes out, this is an excellent way to learn a new Mahjong card.

We enjoy this game but toward the end of the game, the grouping Im trying for disappears & numbers we dont understand appear so we dont know how to finish because we dont remember the original sequence.
Love the game. Fantastic learning tool for us in years past. Im a better player because of this app. (5 stars for years past) However, Im now (2025) getting error messages after winning some mahjong hands that are telling us Ive made errors when we obviously havent. We guess its an odd year. The people who made the 2025 mahjong cards made errors in both size cards this year. Theyre fixing the errors. Please fix this app. Thank you. UPDATE: Developer responded to us within minutes of notifying them of the errors. They caught it too and corrected it with an update. Great game. Amazing customer service.
We have been using this app for several years and Inreally like it. Yesterday it crashed our we pad and we had to struggle to get out of the program. We did by continually pushing the on/off button. We deleted the app and Im going to download it again. Hopefully that will fix the problem.
This app is impractical because it doesnt have enough features of realistic gameplay.
Great app for practice. We try to play two games a night in between our real games. Helps train our mind to look for suitable hands for our tiles and the suggestions adapt to your tiles which is great for practice. We can then adapt this technique in our real physical mahjong games. We just dont like how u cannot see what tiles are thrown out. Im sure there must be a way. We also think they are stingy with jokers just played two games and we did not get any which is unlikely. Other than that we love being able to practice whenever we want.
Love that we can play anytime anywhere, no WiFi or card required. Perfect for a cruise, inflight or long lines at the grocery store.
We really enjoy this app. When we get the new card, it is our go to game. Loved the new challenge hand, but we get obsessed with getting the best score we can. We like that we can play without having WY-FI. The only downside is that bots dont play like real people. Thanks, Ill get it again next year.

People cant believe Ive only been playing a few months! This has been a wonderful tool for us, especially for learning the hands. We also appreciate getting the rule book.
App constantly glitches on our Samsung tablet so we can only play on our iPhone! Very hard to see.
This app has been very helpful in learning the new 2025 card and just great for practice in general. We love that it suggests lines to play while taking into account the tiles you currently have and it continues to change suggestions with each new Charleston draw and changes suggestions during game play as well. You can always forgo the suggested line it offers and continue to pursue the line you want.
We rarely review apps. We know, we know. Im compelled to review this one because it has been so extremely helpful to us. We are a beginner, just learned a couple months ago, and this app has been invaluable, helping us practice and teaching us when we can and cannot do certain very specific things. Its also been extremely helpful in recognizing potential Mahjongs and in becoming more adept and faster at the Charleston. Well worth the price for now, but afraid we cant afford to keep it once we feel really secure in our play. We wish we could. It would be so wonderful if there was an annual subscription that offered a significant price break.

Ive been using this app to practice mahjong in our free time, and it works great! We used the free 2017 card for a while before we felt comfortable paying for the latest 2025 card, so Im very thankful for that free trial ability. When playing, we love how the app tells you what mahjong combinations you have the most tiles for, and exactly how many tiles you have that match. We also love how when you win mahjong, it tells you which mahjong combination you used to win. These features have helped us become a better mahjong player! We also have to thank Ray of EightBam LLC for the support. We noticed a small bug on the 2025 card, and sent an email with screenshots to the listed support email address. Ray emailed us back almost immediately, and quickly resolved the issue. Ray, your support was great! We now know we can trust your support if we notice any other bugs. Long story short, this is a fantastic app to practice American Mahjong, and Ill definitely recommend it to our mahjong friends.

Joined this mahjong app tonight and we cant stop playing. So easy and very helpful.
We love the practice and do feel it has helped us but why does it not ever give jokers past the initial deal? Thats not how it works in the game when you play with them? It also rarely gives flowers when its your turn.
This used to be a great app. This year its impossible to win the challenge hand, day after day.
FFFF 1111 + 9999 = 10 is color-coded all one suit but should be any 2 suits. We wasnt able to win this hand so dont know if using an opposite color would work or not in the algorithm. App working fine otherwise, always enjoy it.
Our family sharing was not working. We sent an email, as the FAQ suggested. The problem was fixed ON A SUNDAY! This is what you want with a subscription app.
Love this for familiarizing ourselves with the card!! We prefer to turn off the suggestions and figure out the plan ourselves so Im glad that is an option.
We enjoy the game and play it frequently. Our one complaint is that you could not undo a discard if you accidentally discarded a tile. It appears that has been corrected in new version of app. Can you update previously purchased game or do you have to delete and re-purchase to get latest version.
We have had literally one lesson so we dont know much about the game. This has been a great app to familiarize ourselves with the game, and choosing lines to play. The developer has videos online that are really helpful. We also emailed a question and he was very patient and thorough in his replies. Read all pop ups completely before dismissing, they have important info. Now that Ive figured the app out we cant stop playing.
Fairly new to the game. Using this practice App has unfrozen our pattern of always wanting to stick to the Consecutive Runs. It has helped us become more aware of other play choices.
(Updated review) From our original review, "When you declare a Mah Jong, you can't really review the other players' hands, you only see what they racked. Also, the purported hands you can go for are not limited by the tiles already discarded. The latter is a nit, as you can see for yourself which tiles were discarded but it is still misleading. " The developer's response to the former of these last two points were that in real life you wouldn't be able to see the player's tiles and see their strategy. Well, this isn't real life, and the name of this app contains "Practice" which implies to us that you should be able to analyze what real players might be thinking, as we do in practice games when players are brand new. If you are truly trying to teach someone you are not worried about "exposing your strategy". If the game didn't want to give this level of help, then it should also not tell players what hands are available to them or give them any help at all. Let them think for themselves! Actually, this would be a great option in any case– a no-help option that requires them to have their own card and figure things out for themselves as in a real game. In our initial review we were totally wrong about picking up a pair with a joker– we are a beginner and was thinking of picking up a pair for Mah Jong with the tile in the pair itself. Our rating remains the same.
This app has really helped us as a beginner! As previously suggested a tutorial about how to use the app would be helpful. Are the 2024 hands the SAME as the ones on the card purchased from American Mahjong Society.

Im going in circles trying to get our purchase of the 2024 card to update our 2023 card on our iPad. We purchased the 2024 card on our iPhone. You need to make this feature work easily.
No card? No problem. No internet connection? No problem. Love this app for when Im traveling and when a new card comes out and we havent gotten ours yet. Hand suggestions make it easy to practice while standing in line waiting or anytime Im waiting. Great to play on airplane too.

This is great practice to learn the new card and sharpen your skills. We play it daily and have for several years. We love this game better than all the others available (and we have tried them all). The Technical Support is very responsive and will fix a problem for you right away should you find one. Only once did we find one and took pictures and they responded immediately. Buy it. You will be happy with your purchase. Thank you for making a great game.

Ive been using this practice app since 2018. It is especially great for getting to know a new card. Cant wait for the new card to come out.
We have bought this game for the last three years. It is superb practice for leaning a new card. We hope the app is available for update for 2022. We will surely buy it. Thanks for the great app. We teach the game in our community and recommend this app to all our student. It shows them what hands can be played and helps to learn the card very quickly.
We are really enjoying this option to play. A couple of things could be done to improve. 1. Offer the option to highlight the hands we are trying to focus on building. 2. Provide the options to use blanks, which many people use anyways. Lastly, we wished we could freeze the hands upfront. The program takes away options if a tile is discarded. We hate this.
Our hands constantly disappear so Im not sure what Im playing for. Very frustrating. Dealing.
We just started to play Mahjong and downloaded several apps to learn. We found this one to be the easiest and most intuitive. We taught ourselves the basics in 1 day. We think its because the yearly card is on the screen when you play. We have a lot to learn and we havent had the opportunity to play with people yet but until then Im having lots of fun playing alone on our iPad. We had a question re: the subscription costs. They answered us within a day. The only negative is that we cant stop playing the game.
Very enjoyable but not perfect. We mahj with the last hand of 2468, and the software did not recognize our hand.
Looking for information explaining what the numbers to the right of dot, Bam, Crak are directly under the concealed tiles – do the numbers mean how many of that particular Dot number are left to played? Or, how many of a particular Dot number have been played. We cant find any information about this middle part.
