A Glimpse into Clan N

Clan N is a beat’em up game which combines the classic arcades gameplay with today’s modern brawlers. With an ancient far east theme, you’ll get challenged across 7 different levels with many different enemies and Mid/End level bosses.

Features :

  • A fast paced beatemup which combines the classic arcades gameplay with today’s modern brawlers.
  • A main story with 7 levels divided into more than hundreds of sections.
  • Levels contain casual minigames which are tightly integrated into the main story and can be played separately as well.
  • Can be played as coop up to 4 players with bots.
  • A slick and clean pixel based graphics with accompanying far east inspired music and sfx.

Co-op Play

Clan N supports local co-op with friends or with bot with up to 4 players. The main player can use touch or gamepad controls where additional players each need a gamepad. You can also mix real and bot players in the same game!

Who are Clan N

Clan N is an ancient samurai group in the region of “Far East”, sworn to protect the realm from all who seek its destruction. The four group members consist of the shinobigatana-wielding ninja Akira, the staff-striking Reina, the dual sword-swinging Daiki, and the sickle-slashing monk Tarou.

After years of training and dedication to their respective craft, each character has uncovered their own unique magical abilities. Akira shoots pulse-filled lightning bolts, Reina controls the ground with vicious earthquake shocks, Daiki swirls up brutal tornado waves, and Tarou can call for the help of Dragons.

Story

Akuji is a former samurai of the Clan N that discovered the balance of the world lies in three areas: Peace, Knowledge, and Time. Akuji found that if you knock the world of one of these, you can harness the powers of “spiritual imbalance” and grow stronger from it. As a result of pursuing spiritual imbalance, he was shunned from the samurai temple and kicked out of Clan N.

What Akuji didn’t know was that attaining spiritual imbalance would not only give you dark powers, it consumed your light and the purity of your life. Following his banishment from the temple and Clan N, Akuji was able to destroy peace by slaughtering villages and retain the power of those he killed, thus absorbing conflict and electric sorcery abilities, becoming the most powerful sorcerer warrior in the Far East. While he continued to grow, Akuji formed Seishin Gun, the spirit group, to join his conquest and remove anyone standing in their path.

Once his actions were discovered by Clan N, they set on a journey to stop the villainous pillaging by Akuji and Seishin Gun.

About the Characters

Reina and Daiki grew as siblings in a southern samurai clan. Reina was not taught the teaching of the clan like her brother Daiki but still observed and learned the ways mastering the staff. She eventually took onto Shamanism as well becoming one of the first shinobi shamans in the land as a young woman.

Akira was a childhood friend adopted into the clan as a lost child wandering in the outer lands chased by a pack of wolves, barely making it to the village. Daiki’s father took the child in and raised them, although Akira typically covers himself from head to after severe scarring.

Tarou was from the same monastery as Akuji (prior to his joining of Clan N) and learned under the same teachers. Akuji returned to the Monk’s temple many years later and stole an ancient scroll that explained how to destroy the pillars of balance and extract their spiritual imbalance. In pursuit of Akuji, Tarou traced his steps to Clan N. After explaining the situation to the existing three members, they all decided to team up and take down Akuji.

User Reviews on Clan N

Looking for more information? Read a comprehensive review of Clan N below:

Clan n is one of our favorites. Mostly because of its low space. Until we found out that they had a new update. Barely anything had changed and the space had gone up by a lot. It was 190 mb now instead of 80 mb. Besides that, global matchmaking was added although nobody would play clan n. Im not trying yo berate clan n, we just want the size to go back to 80 mb. Pls read this.

edit 5/4/2023 we still want to love this game. For years we couldn’t play because of a reoccurring crash at the beginning of certain levels, which seems to have been fix with latest updates, but now there’s a similar bug at the start of certain levels where the character doesn’t show up and you have to restart the game several times before the character appears again. Our one major criticism, which is still the same criticism after years: when you die, there’s still no try again! So much time is wasted having to navigate menu options to begin a new game. That destroys the flow for us. Makes us not want to continue playing after dying multiple times. edit we want to love this game. This is our third review. We were so delighted, after we criticized the annoying player-death-record-scratch ad prompt for people who paid to remove ads. You guys responded to our review, and then got rid of it on the next update! Yay! But then we were two minutes into playing local co-op with our son and his player died. We were shocked to discover that revives are based on watching an ad too! Come on guys! .. Or they’s! We’re not watching ads on a paid game. Seeing that you were monetizing a revive mechanism, reduced our goodwill towards this game, as we already criticized this same mechanism with player solo deaths. We play a lot of co-op games with our son, and he has no interest in continuing with Clan N. Sad. Maybe if the revive ad prompt is changed we’ll give co-op another try. In our last review we also asked if fixing the audio was possible, so apps like Twitch, and Spotify can play their audio while Clan N is also running. Didn’t get a response about that. Right now it cuts off one of the audio sources, while other games, some of them years old, can run both audio sources fine. Overall, still like the game, but issue keep getting in the way of fully enjoying it. edit response to developers: Thanks for replying. But it seems there’s a misunderstanding, we don’t have a problem with the UI revive prompt being distracting, we have a problem with only being able to revive your teammate by watching an ad. Seems clear from our last message so we’re confused by your response focusing on UI design. We play a lot of local co-op games with our son. Almost all of them have a creative in-game function for the surviving player to be able to revive a dead teammate. It could cost health or whatever, but to make the cost an ad watch destroys the fun, at least for us and our son.

Sooo… We liked the game so much that we paid to remove the ads then started our game over but now we cant enter stage 1-1 without our game crashing completely… Even after uninstalling and reinstalling it still crashes the game at 1-1 funny how it worked fine when we paid nothing for it we hope this can get fixed somehow.

Theres an ad after every single thing you do. Its a fun game, but its hard to enjoy when every time you clear a level, which is less than a minute, you have to watch an ad.

We really enjoy this game, however every time we open the app it closes and crashes, is there anything we can do to fix this?

We always loved retro beat em up games but this one was very disappointing. The controls were hard to use and it was just not fun at all! We would not recommend this game if you want a retro beat em up type of game.

Its a great game but when we try to play online co-op, it crashes.

The game is fine and all we got to play the game and everything but the game crashes every time we try to change the controls because we switched it to right hand controls and would like to switch it back to classic controls but the game crashes every time we try.

We saw that you can invite other people but how do we accept invites from others to play with them? Please respond!

Got to admit this game feels like D&D:ToD & SOM if they were top down instead of side scrolling Beatem Ups. Only problem we have is the buttons are small but other than that all is fun.

This game is amazing love the retro art style and the gameplay but playing this with touch screen is a no go, to make the gameplay better we used a controller. Other than the touch screen controls this game is probably one of the best apps in the app store.

We like the game Controller works well with the game Auto save is nice Adding bots on your team is a nice feature Only problem so far global multiplayer seems dead And game freezes after every AD so we have to reset the whole game But auto save comes in handy Thank you for the game being free PLEASE fix the game freezing after every add Kind of a turn off.

Okay, good stuff out of the way, this game is fun, really fun But the lives are just annoying when you die and go all the way back. Maybe add a option between retro and modern like crash 4?

Writing this because we are not entirely sure why this only has 2.8 stars at the moment. Quality mobile games are hard to come by but we can say without a shadow of a doubt that this IS quality. While everything in the game might be a little small for our eyes, the graphics are great. Its reminiscent of old beat em up games and it shows, especially in the character designs. Our only gripe is that the controls are tiny, the layout is good though. The response to this games was mostly negative to neutral but the developers have responded to every review that we have seen with plans to fix what was critiqued. Just shows how much they care. We really hope they carry out what they said they would do. TLDR: Really good game, highly recommend. It wont cost you anything. Developers care.

Has the quality of an xbox indie game. Controls arent near as bad as everyone else is saying, only problem being they may be a but small and a couple redundant (2 buttons do the same thing). Graphics are very nice and sounds are good. Given the game is free, the ads between stages are forgiven, considering this could easily be a $3.99 game. It is a bit difficult, but not frustratingly so. Good game.

Sometimes the screen wont move when its supposed to but after restarting the level a few times it works.

It was a great gaming app we’ve played, but when we entered Game Center by achievements or leaderboards, we get stuck and tapping the X button cant help and we cant get out of it. Another thing: graphics throughout the game are slowing down and we also criticize the lack of difficulties. Not to mention the lack of MiFi controller support and also, the lack of Apple TV support. One more thing: its too bad that the app shouldve been a paid version even with an ad removal purchase. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for understanding.

Despite the delays in release, this game still seems greatly in need of improvement. The concept is interesting, the graphics are fine… But the controls are just aweful. We think the developers tried to give the user a range of control options but theyre so poorly defined Id find myself mashing at different parts of the screen trying to get a decent result. Not to good when youre being swarmed by enemies. Maybe wait for the next release… Or the one after that… UPDATE: big kudos to the developers for listening and responding to individual feedback! Unfortunately the improvement afforded by the virtual stick control is limited and we have to leave our rating at 3/5. Controls just… Arent smooth, with the stick and buttons placed (I suppose) for much smaller hands than ours. We also tried the bot this time, which we thought might helpbut the bit died as quickly as we did. After constantly getting caught on walls and still struggling to have effective control of our character, Im afraid we have to give up on this one. The visuals are nice and we like the concept… We just have to think this game is for someone else (tho a ton of similar reviews suggest Im not alone). Sorry developersthanks for trying!

We really enjoyed the game , but we cant find a way to play co op.
