Community Insight:

Such a well designed, helpful, smart app. Decided to brush up on where all the US states are located as an adult. Before long (a couple hours!!) we were a state location expert. By the next day we had introduced the app to kids in the family and they were hooked! Racing with each other to climb the leaderboard. Even kids who had not yet learned the states in school! It has spread like wildfire through our family and the kids' friends and now everyone is excited to move on to other world areas of the map. What a great way to pass time on trips and waiting rooms. Learning is fun again! (we swear we are not affiliated with the app creators in any way, we just honestly love it and so does our fam!) Thank you for the wonderful app!!! :).

Our new obsessionjust wish the there could be alternative font options This super condensed font is hard to read at times.

Obsessed with learning on this app just would love if it were possible to switch languages to learn the country names in other languages too.

Dear developers of map quiz we love you guys. Learning should always be free and easy and the fact that you have given us an ad free way to learn geography is awesome. Just got 24/24 on North America. Had to delete 4 other apps but this one is just magic. Please give us a donation page so we can help you guys out, thank you fr in a world with so many annoying apps for being truly free.

Very enjoyable and easy to use! But we wish they just had the plain USA instead of American and landforms. But overall very helpful.

This is a fun little app, and playing with it has been the most effective way Ive ever found to improve our geography knowledge. Fully recommend it if youre interested in trying to remember where countries are located. Having a better sense of where everything is also helps make the news make more sense, because you know without looking it up where places are in relation to each other. We hope the creators might someday consider adding major bodies of water, so we can learn those next.

This app alone has let us learn the geographical locations of hundreds of countries so far.

Ive been using this app for years, and its our favorite map quiz app! (Fellow fans should check out Worldle, tooits a daily challenge that got us back into geography recently) The only frustrating part is that you cant turn off the banner at the top flashing a color when you tap on a country. The idea is that it flashes red when you guess incorrectly and it flashes green when you get it right. But when youre looking at the map, its in your peripheral visionwhere our eyes see primarily black and white. So, the flashing is actually really distracting, because we keep thinking its telling us we were wrong. It really throws us off. Id be fine with it if it were a little light in the corner that we could cover up, but its the background to the name of the next countryI cant cover that up! If it only flashes when youre incorrect, that would be fine with meits currently just aggravating. Not a big enough deal to use a different app instead, but still frustrating. For the Developers: One other suggestionI would love it if it were a little customizable. Specifically, Id like to be able to turn off seeing country borders that are bordering water, and all country borders on islands. That would make it a little harder, and then we could be better at identifying island nations without their borders included! The dotted lines surrounding them are really great while youre learning, though. It would also be great to have an option where all countries are already colored in at the start of the quiz. That way, you cant see what youve already found. It would also be nice if there were a suggestions/bugs form we could fill outthis is the only place for feedback that we can find. This game is excellent thoughthank you so much for making it.

This app really helped us to learn the country names and locations. Its simple and effective.

Great educational game! We know geography much better from playing this and am still working up to the world quizI love how the practice mode and challenge mode work together to help us learn a region and there are no annoying ads, just a great app! Youve done something good by making this, thank you.

Geography was a weak point at our school, and this has been great at helping us with that. Im giving it only four stars, because if you really know very little about an area its very hard to learn. Its better for reinforcing what you already know.

We spent just three days with the app and we can already locate over 90% of the countries in the world (we only have problems with some caribbean islands and eastern europe). One thing we'd really like to see is a toggle to keep already-guessed countries on the map still. After going through ~75% of the countries, it becomes significantly easier a there's only one country left in the general region you know it is in. Other than that, great app.

Great App, near perfect. Sometimes the circles for islands, specifically in Oceania will bug out and become invisible making it hard to know where to click. Additionally, trying to get quicker times in challenge mode is challenging due to the club lines of poor hitboxes and inconsistent pinch zooming.

What a fantastic app for those of us who have forgotten the geography we learned in grade school. Using this quiz in challenge mode has become part of our weekly routine. Our next request for developers: a quiz identifying major bodies of water around the world. Thanks for your consideration.

We now know so much! Very easy and awesome functionality! More people should know about geography. Thank you guys.

Map-Quiz is the best app for learning geography, for reasons written by earlier reviewers: it is free, completely uncluttered by ads, and has a clean user interface. Yes, for those who miss Geomaster, this is a solid replacement. In addition, the developer is responsive to both events (adding Ukrainian oblasts) and feedback (updating country names). With this app, in just a few minutes each day, you can learn useful geographical information. Since finding the app a couple of days ago, we have revived our knowledge of Europe, learned South America, and realized how little we know of US territories and Caribbean islands (which the app will help us with!). With Map-Quiz, anyone can reasonably work towards identifying the locations of all 200+ countries in the world. Map-Quiz is a generous gift, allowing everyone with access to the App Store a way to learn geography. If the developer is looking for ways to enhance the app, we would love to see (1) the option for a sturdier typeface, because this one is a little thin for our aging eyes; (2) physical features such as bodies of water, mountains, and deserts; (3) additional interior regions besides those already found in the app. We would also be delighted to see an option for countries to be labeled by their autonyms (e.g. Espaa for Spain) — this would be beautiful, although perhaps too unwieldy for countries that use different scripts or have multiple official languages.

Because of this game, we have learned where all the countries are in the Americas, Asia, and Europe! You should not hesitate to download it. It would be better if like, the part of Turkey, Georgia, and Kazakhstan that is in Europe was in the Europe quiz, and same for Russia and Egypt. If you could do that, this app would be perfect.

We love it, but it keeps freezing about 20 countries in on the world practice. Fix please.

Mostly we enjoy this app, its simple, no ads, you just learn. It does have an issue though, it is more often than not getting stuck while the user is trying to mark off countries (states, boroughs, etc), not loading the image so you can see where to tap. Its especially frustrating during the challenges as youre racing the clock. And it could use some additional content, like world capitals. The provinces, states, regions, etc., of other nations. National flags maybe.

There was a geography game several years ago called Geomaster II that we played religiouslyit taught us the location of every country in the world and sparked a real interest in geography. That game disappeared 7-8 years ago. We tried in vain to find a replacement but no other geography game stacked up favorably. Until now! We love the simplicity and the design of this game. Playing it a ton, all the old knowledge is finally coming back. Our one requestadd Indian provinces and Chinese provinces! These two countries are home to >33% of the earths population. Id love to be able to use this game to learn the layout of those countries.

EDIT: can you add an option to hide labels in practice mode? Perfect app. Love it. Im a GPS now. We have some suggestions: – Bug fix: The circle for Sao Tome is huge and makes clicking on Equatorial Guinea and Gabon very difficult. – Bug fix: Oceania circles are glitchy in World mode. – Ambitious request, but do a challenge of only islands, including those that arent independent nations. – Ambitious request, but add geo feature (rivers, mountains, etc.) and flag quizzes. Thanks for the amazing app.

Ive successfully completed a goal of ours – memorise the locations of every country. So big props to this app. Minor critique – when zooming around on the whole world mode, some of the pacific island outlines (the dashed rings) disappear for us. We end up having to zoom in and out until they appear again. Other island outlines work fine though. Great job dev! :).

Great way to learn. Nice UX. No ads! Only small issue: some circles around small Islands dont appear in the world view, making it pretty much impossible to find them. (On an iPhone 13 mini.).

This app is amazing! Im legitimately learning the worlds geography, and remembering it! Very straightforward, fun, helpful, and elegant. Free, no adds, and no hidden fees or subscriptions, even after using it for awhile. No distracting prompts to review that app either! Thank you to the dev(s).

We want to learn where to find any country on the map. Ive tried several other apps and this is the best by a mile. Clean, easy to use, no ads or in-app purchases. Its perfect. Im learning quickly using this. All the stars.

This is a great way to brush up on long forgotten geography skills! Ive been playing this game zealously for two days and now have a good portion of the globe memorized. Our only constructive comment is that some map regions are daunting to memorize. Subdividing regions could help users memorize in smaller chunks and learn faster. For example, arbitrarily dividing Europe into Western Europe and Eastern Europe, Asia into the Middle East and East Asia, Africa into upper and lower, etc. Memorizing 20 countries per practice run is much easier than memorizing 55. Otherwise this is an awesome game.

Great app except the US States & Territories. Wish there was a way to turn off or remove & Territories.

Add flags, capitals. We would pay for a version with this.

We were doing quiz about Europe's counties and we found a mistake. Georgia isn't on the quiz.

Im learning so much! Thank you. Can you add nyc neighborhoods.

We learned the countries of the world SO fast with this little game. Love it.

Im not one for writing reviews since apps usually dont impress us, but recently we were curious to learn more about geography since we had very little knowledge. We got this app and within a single week we can name all 202, we got to give it to the app and the great design. The feature of a leaderboard added an incentive to try to get a faster time and climb the rankings which was a great catalyst to be able to learn them all. Easy to use. No ads. Great app.

Beautiful free app. Easy and fun to use.

New ideas. Maybe a state/territories capitals map could be added? The US or even the world. Love the game! (Old Feedback, thanks for adding it! )we love the game, but it would be nice to have an option to disable the country labels, there places where they obscure other countries making it hard to click correctly especially if your going for time.

We love geography and competitive games, so this was a slam dunk for us. When the counties of the UK were added over lockdown we were thrilled! We would love to see more: the provinces of Canada, states of Mexico and Australia, etc. Keep up the good work.

This is an amazing game and education tool! We spent over 6 hours on it today, and memorized the location of every country. Would it be possible to make a reverse game mode where it would-for example-highlight a country and then you name it.

Love the app.great way to learn and Ive pretty much learned everything on there but we think a great addition the the app would be to add country capitols or flags.

Very good game. Its a fun way to learn the different countries of the world. The only real complaint we have is that the map tends to glitch out and you can no longer see the blank countries. If that gets fixed though, itll be solid. Well done.

We love this app, thank you for making it! So easy to use and good for learning. Before using this app we wouldve only been able to find four countries in the Americas, now we can find all of them. We have a feature request – smaller sets for Asia, Europe, and Africa. Im trying to learn the countries in Asia right now but am finding it overwhelming to do a set of 47 at a time starting with only knowing a couple of them. Maybe by region? Like central Asia, East Asia, etc. Thank you for making and sharing this awesome free app.

Theres a good selection of game modes, though each country gets labeled once you answer it, and the map gets really cluttered for it, which is a little annoying. Sometimes as well little islands can be hard to tap, or they dont quite properly load, making them nearly invisible. It would also be cool to have a bit of a reverse game mode so that you learned to name countries based on their location, not just locate them based on their name. Overall really pretty good though.

The area of the map near the international date line is not there. It is playable but we think we could be fixed.

The very first subcontinent listed is labeled as North America, but to our surprise it included Central America as well. Starting off with that misnomer seems like the wrong approach for a kid to learn geography.

We love geography, and we love this game. As a competitive player, the leaderboard is our favorite feature. The only two bugs Ive seen is how in the Northern Ireland counties map, Down is half hidden on the default zoom, and so is Western Sahara in the Africa map. Some maps Id like to see be added are the provinces of Canada and Australia, and maybe even the administrative divisions of Russia.

Our friend Christal recommend us this! At first we were skeptical considering the look of this app but as soon as we opened it we were hooked. Ive been playing this game nonstop for 9 days now please help us get off we havent eaten and we havent been outside. Overall love this game.

We have downloaded a handful of apps thinking it would be a good way to learn all the countries of the world. This one has been the best by far! Its intuitive and easy to gets reps in whenever we have a free moment. Very fun and very helpful. A sincere thank you to the creators.

The app is lovely. Wish there was a way to see the clues. The typeface is tall and thin and light, and for us hard to read. Its our only feedback. Five stars ahead when this is fixed. Until then its really frustrating.

We really like this, like, Ive needed something like this and its quite fun. However, we find ourselves very annoyed with the double tap zoom in and zoom out because if we want to move over to another part of the map, we often end up scrolling in and out.

We love the game and have learned a lot from it, but it's harder to play on some devices than others. It's frustrating having to constantly collapse, expand, collapse, expand, and then get something wrong not because you didn't know where it is, but because it's just difficult to manipulate the graphics on a tiny screen.

When zooming back out after clicking the correct area, there is green in areas that we havent scored on yet so we cant see the boundaries unless we zoom all the way back out. Very annoying when trying to beat a time and we waste it trying to zoom in and out to get rid of the green.

It includes all the countries + French Guiana, Greenland, Puerto Rico, all 50 states, Niue, and Cook Islands but not Vatican City, the Holy See is like Palestine a non observer state and it needs to be added. Thank you.
