What Makes Bat to Bed Stand Out
Bat has a STRANGE quirk…
He can only turn around by smacking his face into a wall.
This will make saving the world somewhat difficult, but someone's gotta do it.
Super easy to play… and darn hard to beat.
If you like fair challenges with addicting replayability, you'll probably have fun.
Oh, and handing it to a friend and watching them rage is pretty hilarious.

Community Insight:
We want to give this game one star so bad. In the world of game development, theres a mantra that you want to make games challenging but not punishing. This game is just truly punishing. But this game is designed to make you want to give it one star. And it does exactly what it sets out to do. So we think the only thing we can do is give it 5 stars.
It is shocking to us how well this game is made for a mobile indie. You can put away hours and this will still be awesome. Its also so damn cute. We know its a little early in the games lifespan, but PLEASE make merch at some point.
Why would you do this? Whos idea was it to make it possible to drop from like at least 20 straight minutes of flying up (excluding the time we spent thinking and trying to get the timing right) all the was down to the frog. Its legit a recreation of the undertale opening where you just fall down a mountain into a cave. And then after all that progress we lost the frog guy has the nerve to laugh at us and call us stupid. Or so Ive heard Im actually amazing at the game 5/5 most entertaining use of our time in a while.
Still only been playing for ten minutes but we saw you videos and this game is so fun! Great job.
We saw the creators on YouTube and saw this game and it is really fun, despite being quite difficult so that is our review PS Ive only beaten level one.
Love the game and yalls YouTube channel just one question about the enemys why are some of them bats when you yourself are a bat? Not bashing the game love it just had that thought.
5/5 MY GOD THAT FIRST LEVEL IS SO ANNNOYING AND we HAVENT EVEN PLAYED THE REST IF THIS GAME YET this gave us the joy of getting over it all over again, just less infuriating.
Unbelievably excellent game. Foddian style of gameplay but even when you fall far it always takes less than a couple minutes to get back to where you were so its never too stressful. Im super excited for new content! Beating the levels only took an hour or so each, but going back to get all the achievements and master the mechanics and timing is a blast, its not too hard and the levels are pretty short, definitely give it a try! Perfect for listening to a podcast and failing over and over before getting your goal time. Also the characters and style are both so charming.
Bat to Bed is a true rage game and we love it! We stumbled across the devs youtube channel and instantly noticed the polished art-style of the game and upon realizing it was available on IOS, we had to have it. The polish is amazing, that coupled with the music and gameplay make this game a must-play! The only gripe we have is on the first level when bouncing the boss up we were sometimes bounced off of him rather than us bouncing him up if we hit on the bottom corners of his hit-box. If the devs reading this its your choice but we think it would be nice to add some grace to that.
There is next to no ads, the gameplay is quality, its cute and fun, a good story, and its challenging!! Ive already spent half an hour in this game and we can tell you its not a waste of time. :).
This game is really hard and annoying. But once you fell down, could you get back up? We feel like this game is simple but it teaches us one thing: Never give up.
Only took us an hour, 8 minutes and 30 seconds to get past the first area. We must be a speedrunner.
Although this game was VERY frustrating at times, we still enjoyed it nonetheless and is one of the few mobile game l like and isnt swarmed with micro transactions or adds, its just a fun mobile game so in conclusion, gud game.
First of all, we love your content and that's why we downloaded this in the first place. This is a very good game but it still feels a little unpolished. One thing that stood out to us was the emptiness of the stages, especially in the first stage. Maybe add a bolder background? The movement feels very finicky as well. Fun, but needs improvements. Bye.
Very cute pixel art with a fun story. With music and an atmosphere that one would assume indicate a claiming game, this is instead a foddian style rage game. Flap wrong once, and ya go all the way to the start of the level. Fun for a while but it quickly gets old. Main complaint is the ads on the bottom of your screen. Cant even tell you how many times Ive attempted to flap and instead clicked the ad. This will send you to a browser page, and, upon returning, youre almost guaranteed to fall. Very frustrating. On top of this, one of the ads that was shown multiple times was for PragerU, an awful organization that focuses on harming the lives of lgbt+ individuals. This may not be entirely the devs faults, but it certainly turned us off from the game.
We know its supposed to be a hard game and Im fine with that, but some of the parts like the race part of level 2 Just require complete perfection just to clear. If you make a single mistake there is no room for you to recover thus you having to complete restart.
We came into this thinking that we would have a relaxing time, but no, this is an emotional roller coaster, its fun when you do things correctly, but its very punishing. We beg for the developers to add different difficulties.
Not a bad concept, but poor execution flaw 1: not enough safe areas to protect from ridiculous falls how to fix it: add more. And throw in some checkpoint-type areas. You can still have long sections here and there but when almost every part has a high chance of sending you miles down, it feels unfair and doesnt give you time to breathe. We get that its "funny" to fall a long way, but you dont need to do that for the entire game. Flaw 2: flame shooter enemies. The randomness is frustrating. You took the worst universally agreed upon worst enemy from hollow knight (primal aspid) and made getting hit by it even more punishing how to fix it: remove it or make its flames shoot in consistent directions and at a consistent pace flaw 3: timer boss. Actually terrible design. Taking away the option to go at your own pace on the SECOND level? Ok. How to fix it: remove it, make it way later in the game, make it optional, OR make it so that going between each checkpoint is actually challenging time-wise/you cant mess up BUT make each checkpoint be an actual checkpoint. That way its several short challenges rather than a marathon where if you scuff your foot you have to restart nitpick, but no less indicative of inexperienced designer: bad start to the race. Itd be way more satisfying as the player to be able to spam tap right out the gate on whats supposed to be a "race" than to have to slowly bounce over to a wall UNDERNEATH the starting line. This feels like it should be common sense and is the case for every game with a race. Like have you played a single mario game? Itd be like if they had you slowly climb 4 walls at the start of your race with koopa the quick while he just ran off. Additionally, the race should start when you tap not just a few seconds after restarting. Again, more satisfying to the player to be given that small bit of agency we want to like this game. We think it has a good concept but it needs improving, maybe more story or isolated challenges to keep it interesting, in addition to the things ive said so far. We havent beaten the timer boss yet, and if the section im stuck on isnt the final one, we might not. We like hard games. But one of the reasons a game like celeste works and this doesnt is because it gives you room to breathe. This game is like if the final screen of farewell was every screen.
Oh our godddd this game is so hard its been forever since ive played a good hard platformer this game will piss you off and its such a good time.
We really enjoyed this game and its mechanics in its first and second level. But then the second half of the second level is not only extraordinarily difficult (that we can handle) but also far too random. For that reason, we will never be able to beat this level and we will never see tbe levels after. It's a shame because we would have liked to see what else was in store for this game, but we cannot beat the second level no matter how hard we try. It would be so nice for there to be an option for the less sweaty players to skip or get assistance in a level, especially one as early as level two. You could call it skill issue all you want, but at the end of the day, the lack of grace that this game gives its playerbase lost a user.
This is a good game, and we are in no way trying to hate. But some of the mechanics in this game need serious work. The first one are the ad banners. We get the need for ads, as it is a free game, but maybe try moving the banners to the top? We have died more times than we can count by tapping on that banner and in an already hard game that can be super infuriating. Also, the saving needs some work. In a game like this, players really benefit from taking a break and coming back to it later. Your save system, however, does not allow for this. Every time you close the app, it restarts the level which can be super frustrating due to the absurdly hard and long levels in the game where you could have make 20 mins of progress just to lose it all.
We absolutely love hard games. Hollow Knight, Celeste, Souls games, rouge like games, etc. But THIS is some bs. The gameplay is great. Its super addictive. The only issue is when you hit something you could get so f ed you end up at the very beginning even when you see the end. If you get hit you just hope you get lucky. Thats all. And its a big nope.
The game is hard but when you beat the level you feel rewarded.
In no way am we trying to hate on this game. We really enjoyed the first level (Crystal Cave), the mechanics are very simple and the level was challenging enough whilst not being too infuriating. The problem arose in the second level (Firethorn Forest). Ive been trying to beat this level for hours to no avail. In our opinion, the first level worked because it was only skill, but the fire shooter enemies that were introduced in the second level added too much of a luck aspect to be enjoyable. This might just be a skill issue on our part, but the farthest Ive gotten is the fourth section of the race and this is due to the random directions that the fire shooters seem to be firing in. It feels like we have to get very lucky to beat this race, for one, we have to hope that the projectiles dont immediately down us if Im too close to the enemies, and two, we have to hope that the projectiles arent in our way of completing that section or else Im going to be too slow and cannot finish it. Again, this is most likely just a skill issue on our part, but we cant help but be a bit infuriated by these enemies seemingly random projectile trajectories. Besides our gripe with these enemies, this is a very well designed game with very simple mechanics that we would recommend to anyone that desires a difficult challenge.
Even after rage quitting after trying for 20 minutes we would keep coming back because it was worth it, The cannon level was very annoying because traveling up took way less time than falling for most of the level or at least that's what we seemed like. We would recommend if you're falling you could hold down on the screen to make it go 2x speed or something. Learning patterns and timing was fun and going back to the first level after beating the last one was a lot of fun seeing how we improved.
The speed trial on level 2 is incredible annoying because of how the fire bats can stall you in one area for multiple seconds and when one fall means the trials over its hard to just risk it and try to make it past them unless there in a really good spot.
We got this on our 3 hour flight, and we had a lot of fun at first, but its extremely exhausting not being able to finish the first level. Its long and frustrating and its the most demotivating experience Ive probably ever tried. We would recommend making the first few levels quicker so people playing feel more inclined to play. Also when we get off or have to do something even for a minute and we close the game, we lose all our progress. We think this game could use some work.
This game killed our family of 4.
When we think of mobile games we usually think of corporate slop or brainrot games. But this is honestly just a really cute game. Also we personally just love difficult platformers. This game gives us celeste vibes gameplay vibes and pulls it off on mobile very well.
If youve played Getting Over It, this game is a similar concept. You climb, and climb, and climb, and if you fall, you fall a long ways. Difficult enough to be enjoyable and not get boring, but simple enough to not feel random.
This game is so good and really piqued our interest. Really cute and fun art design, interesting mechanic, and the perfect mix of learning and progressing while falling down time and time again. It does everything just right. And then level 2 happened Mostly fine, pretty fun and im enjoying it, until the timed section. Theres a section at the top that makes it so you need to get through each room fast enough or you have to restart at the beginning. Seems fine, right? WRONG The rooms are long- one mistake and Theres not even a point in trying to make it in time. Theres nothing to land on so farther up its just a gaurenteed loss. The WORST part is these stupid fire spirits crammed into every corner of every room. They shoot out projectiles out at you, but the pattern is super unpredictable and pretty much random, its always a gamble where they shoot. So this whole thing is just PRAYING you get lucky every single time or BOOM BACK TO THE START. You cant even get consistent. Im not learning anything, we cant see any mistakes we made, im not getting any better, theres just nothing we could have done. The flame balls that they shoot dont even ever disappear so god forbid they shoot upward at all because this thing will follow you all the up, much past when the actual enemy is off the screen. Theyre also suuuuper slow which makes them crazy annoying to dodge. You have to maneuver around them while not moving up at all, just for the enemy to shoot more and repeat the process until you run out of time. You have to get by first try or again- BACK TO THR START WITH YOU.
We have greatly enjoyed this game and the difficulty feels just right for when Im looking for a game thats not mindless. We hope it gets finished and not abandoned before its done. One suggestion, although we dont know how difficult it would be to implement, would be some sort of cloud save feature or at least a way to preserve the data when the game is deleted. Since the game is currently short, we deleted it when we had it completed and was low on storage. When Level 2 came out, though, we found that we had to start all over. The same happened when we upgraded our phone. This is a small nitpick, though.
No Im not trying to sound mean because you are very good developers we have seen some of your works we dont know why we started with this but anyways we got the app but we cant get in it all it does is turn blue and then put us out of the app One recommendation that we have is to check how big your game is Ive been still not trying to sound mean so Im just gonna give it five stars.
This game made us upset in the best way possible. Very addicting.
We really loved this game for the most part; we do not agree with the reviews saying the level design is too frustrating or the frog is too mean lol. Very fun and well-made overall. Our only problem is that the ending race in level 2 is wayyyy harder than anything else in the game. Tbh it feels like the devs were out of content (which is fine, new levels are coming) but wanted to keep players in-app for ad money, so they stretched the last ~2 minutes of content into ~2 hours by making you replay it a couple hundred times. Perhaps the difficulty spike would feel more earned if anything prior was remotely close to that difficult. Playing thru the whole game up to the race took us ~40 minutes on first attempt, and the 2 minute race took us 2 hours lol. Now nothing in the game is remotely difficult to us except the race which is very hard. Great game overall tho, love how they built on the mechanics of flappy bird and jump king. Oh also the interstitial ad video is pretty cringe, totally agree w others on that.
This game had such a good learning curve because we went from beating the first level in like 30 mins to having wr on level 2 (going for 1 soon) and idk if its just running the game thats helped this but level 2 is just so well made. Looking back at level 1 its very clear on how much yall learned about the level design and it clearly shows!! Cant wait for level 3.
It's such a fun game! We can tell a lot of effort went into making it, but it's really challenging. Maybe it's because we're only 12, but it's still pretty tough.
We love bats so much and wanted a good bat game, but most of what would come up was baseball or BatMan, and the ones that were actual bats were boring, barely about bats, or were about killing or harming bats. We love the bat in this, theyre so cute and have all the batty charm we love about bats thats missing from a lot of other bat games and media. We love the sounds and the setting. The controls are unique but simple which is really cool to see, you tap and change direction by hitting into the walls and have to time it right to avoid obstacles. It did take us a little to figure out, lol. It feels like the people who made this actually liked what they were doing and maybe liked bats, too, and werent just trying to churn out as much copy-paste mobile slop to grab as much money with the littlest amount of effort put in.
This game has one of those qualities where you just know it's good as soon as you start, and we're happy to report that the creativity continues to grow as you progress. The only real gripe we have with the game is that achievements are really intrusive. Whenever you get an achievement, it pauses the game, which really breaks immersion. We wish it would show a small banner at the bottom of the screen whenever you got an achievement (instead of the large default banner that Game Center gives you), didn't pause the game, and gave you the Game Center achievements quietly. If this is changed, we will happily change this review to 5 stars.
It always lags us out when we press the button! We would love to play it, but its so frustrating. We would very much like it if you helped.
This is one of those few perfect games that know exactly what they want to be and dont try and overload the game with gimmicks. The personality is amazing and the skill based game play isnt at all rage inducing even when you fall because you know the only person you have to blame is yourself there is no randomness or overdone features just game play and even when we fall its still fun just climbing your way back up it feels like your lucky when your saved by a platform not unlucky when you fall all the way. Keep up the great work you did amazing.
Used to play this game all the time and loved it. Forgor abt it, js rembor it.
After a couple(hundred) crash outs, we decided that the frog didnt deserve his staff. Great game. Even when we failed so many times, we just couldnt get off the game.
We have a skill issue. And we find this game, INSANELY HARD. And we love it, You should get this game now. The devs are super nice even though some people like to be a little toxic here and there. THANK YOU! – LuX :D.
Just absolutely unplayable. We'll give it credit that it's fun for the 2 seconds you get to play between ads. And they have the audacity to say the ads are based on playtime and not hit count. What's the playtime before an ad?? A picosecond.
God had no hand in the creation of this masochist nightmare of a game.
We like hard games, reminds us of cuphead lol. Im glad theres banner ads and not a lot of full screen ads cause we find full screen ads kind of annoying. Really great game truly a 69/10.
You need to give more opportunity to learn before going as hard as you can.
Played this game a while back and it was super fun, but recently opened it and was disappointed by the banner ad. If they just made the game has more ads we would be fine with it, but we hate banner ads.
This game is so challenging and we love it! It drives us insane just enough to keep playing. We can easily tell there are some aspects of the game that are inspired by jump king but the difference is that we dont want to stop playing every time we fall! Our problem is that when Im in the middle of an ad, sometimes it freezes and we have to swipe out the game and restart. It could be our internet but we dont know.
