We read about this app in a list of ad free games. We are so fed up with long ads across multiple screens when trying to play games, so this seemed like a dream. We made it through over 20 levels til we saw an adand if we could play that long before being served another, thatd be ok. But then there were ads every other level. Im so sad. Id be glad to pay a few bucks to avoid ads, support the really cool developers behind this interesting game. Ads might make this unplayable for us, unfortunately.
So for the most part the app is great. Seems to be getting slower and slower, or maybe that’s just our iPad showing its age. But the app does have one serious, recurring issue: every month, it needs an update to allow users to play the new month’s daily puzzles. WHY??? Why is it this cannot have a permanent fix? If the daily puzzles had a major change in format or function we could understand needing the occasional update, but we’ve had this happen multiple times. And until the app is updated to support the new month’s puzzles, trying to access the daily puzzles causes the app to lock up. This is frustrating, to say the least. Otherwise the app is quite stable, and receives content update fairly regularly. We’ve been playing it for years and enjoy it. We hope the May update is forthcoming and will fix this unhappy issue once and for all (though we decline to hold our breath in anticipation).
The idea is fun and the puzzles can be challenging but it is kind of ruined by misspelled words on quite a few of the puzzles. We mean, its not like you cant Google how to spell a word. Also, words are repeated sometimes on the same puzzle.
The technical problems overshadow the fun!

Really glad they fixed the white issue. The new daily puzzles are great. Just wish more of the puzzles were easy-moderate (as most of them, especially the new ones are moderate-hard).
Honestly, we love the game. Its very stimulating to the brain, etc. Etc. But the amount of ads is very annoying. We get one after every level, and we tend to fly though the levels, so we get an ad every few minutes. We have more ads than we do game time at this point. We may as well just download those games being pushed instead of this one at that point, since we see the ad for the same few games more than we see actual gameplay for this.
Please tell us youve added more. We have just finished 26 categories (96 puzzles each). Cannot find an update. When is next one coming out?
… But it no longer functions on our iPhone X. It will open to the Loading screen and freeze there, with music playing in the background. We’ve restarted our phone and uninstalled/reinstalled the app to no avail.
We love this game! Its challenging, unique and very relaxing. The music is soothing and theres no extra fluff. A minimalists dream lol. It really makes you think before you make a move. We would love to see a dictionary for the words after the level is completed. We may even buy a package.. Maybe lol.
Our dad had this game on his phone, and we got it sally far on it, now and hat we have our own phone Ilitterally can not put t down.
We love the simplicity. Dont need all the flash and bells and whistles.

The music is relaxing, and the puzzles are challenging but not so difficult its impossible.
So good we had to purchase another set! We like it because it is not timed which gives you time to think.

We love the ambient music and the clever but not so much it makes you feel stupid puzzles. However… The price even for a few themes is stupid high and the ads break the ambience.
Great game! Im addicted! We tested out the free version to see if Id like it. We LOVED it and am looking forward to new packs. The sizing is a little buggy on our iPhone XR. When we move on to the next game sometimes the sizing is HUGE and it fights back when we try to resize. Sometimes it takes three or four attempts to size it where we want it. A small annoyance for a game Im addicted to. Caught a few misspellings! Again, no biggie, cant even remember what they were. We cant comment on all the bells and whistles because we were too busy playing. The big disappointment for us is that we cant replay the packs.
We really enjoy this game. Very challenging and a good opportunity to learn about topics you havent explored before. Our only concern is that it hasnt been updated in three years, and theres a very frustrating bug on the iOS version where if you change the screen orientation, the screen gets all messed up and you have to close and reopen the app to fix it. So you have to be careful not to turn your phone to the side. We want to buy the pack with all the levels, but Im hesitant to do so if the app is no longer being supported and updated, since it will eventually just stop working after enough iOS updates.
We love this game. Only annoying part that we recommend to the developers: there are times where we want to restart and we accidentally click a hint because its the same location. Recommend making a separate spot and giving the option to restart even if youre not wrong. Thanks for a great game though!
This game is genuinely challenging. It would make it more fun if there were modes to specify how challenging the user wanted it. For example, if they wanted to allow multiple undos for a single puzzle.
This is a new twist on word games and puzzles, combining Scrabble and word scrambles. The game play is fantastic. But every time we complete a level or have to restart, the new game doesn’t load. The app doesn’t crash but we get a blank screen. I’d love to buy the full app but we certainly won’t in this state. If the developer could reach out about fixing this, that would be much appreciated. By the way, the developer should also have a support section on their website, but they do not.
This is by far one of our favorite games the only frustrating part is that level 157 will not complete no matter how many times we can pass the level it will not let us go to the next chapter. Besides that issue its an amazing game! Hope this issue can get fixed soon. Thats the only reason we cant play any further.
Awesome game but too many ads. The puzzle challenge is great. Good graphics. Relaxing music. But so many ads. Im playing through the first collection of puzzles and Im getting ads on every other puzzle. We get that ads help make the game possible but this a bit too much. We do realize we can buy the no ads option. However, we wanted to try out the game before making that decision. The ads are getting in the way of.
We accidentally enabled icloud sync and we can’t turn it off and we wold like watching adds for hints back and we paid money on things on a different device but we can’t get them back!
Love the challenge and the concept but wish you could shut off the music after you’ve started a game. We like listening to our choice of music. It will play over what we want to listen to. Found a workaround. If you love words your bound to love this game.
This game is so addicting. Our only complaint is Im almost done with all the levels and its been awhile since there was any update with new levels.
This is by far the best crossword game out thier however it is not free you have to spend money to unlock more puzzels to play NOT FREE.
You can play the first set for free, then have to pay $3 for one level or $32 for all the levels. The game is different and fun for a little while. Dont think its worth anything beyond the first set though. Bonza is much better and has lots of free levels.
EDIT/UPDATE: This is a pretty ingenious game. Its challenging, fun, and, yes, very addicting. But its also infuriating. A few improvements would make all this a SIX star game: Allow more than one undo per game. This is where it gets infuriating. Its very easy to make mistakes in the game. If youve selected a letter and decide against using it you have to remember to deselect before tapping another letter. If you dont remember to do that, thats it – either thatll be your one undo for the game or, if youve already used the undo feature, youre sunk – game over. Its happened more than once that we’ve nearly completed a puzzle only to make a fatal mistake. Instead of being able to undo the mistake and keep going, we have to end the game and recreate everything. And then it stops being fun. There are a lot of unfamiliar words and tricky moves, and its not always easy to recreate the solutions. Allow skipping levels. There are subjects here we know nothing about – as others have mentioned, and thats fine. But thats all the more reaso to have unlimited undo, and to allow skipping. When you have to spend time bushwhacking when on a topic youre not at all familiar with it stops bring fun. Allow players to pass on a level and move ahead. We cant think of any other word scramble game that doesnt allow players to try things out and undo whats not working. This is a great concept and potentially a great game. But the limitations make it so frustrating Im not sure Ill want to spend money on it. If it was more user-friendly – per our suggestions above – itd be just as challenging as it is now, and a lot more fun and satisfying.
We have loved this game for years but now that we have played all of the levels and packs 4 or 5 times again we need more levels added to current packs or different packs to buy!
Really enjoy the puzzles and gets more challenging each level. But the game freezes and There is no way to restart and just have to wait until somehow it resets.
A fun game, but why on earth would you put ads in a game where you already have to pay to unlock the (non-tutorial) content. It just seems greedy … And annoying.
This game gets to be utterly impossible allowing only one reset option per word is silly as is the inability to jump past an incompletely solved level . Come on guys make some changes to an otherwise well designed game.
Our biggest complaint is the intrusive ads. Last night we had an ad after every puzzle for 5 in a row. Not complaining about ads for a free app but after every puzzle is a bit obnoxious and unacceptable.
After three or four rounds of Poisonous Plants or Olympic Athletes or Pastries or any category, you just wind up Googling lists of same to try and get through the level. The game should have an option to skip ahead a level instead of being stuck forever trying to ramrod a solution to answers you just dont know. Not going to buy any more in-app purchases.
We really liked this game. However, $32 for the rest of the levels, even with the hints and no ads, is ridiculous! We would have given it 5 stars otherwise.
Good game. However, we’ve reached the category Bollywood. We know almost nothing about Indian cinema so now the games come to a screeching halt Is there a workaround to skip a category?
EDITED: we have sent several messages to the developers regarding updates. The first reply said there were more levels coming, but now we are just being ignored. Don’t waste your money. We have been waiting almost 2 years and nothing to show for the money we spent for unlimited play. We have written this before, but now we just feel scammed out of the money we paid for "lifetime" puzzles. Ever since we paid to have access to all of the puzzles, there has not been a SINGLE update adding new ones to the app. We would like a refund back since giving you our money has been a complete waste. If we could give no stars, we would. Every time we contact you regarding updates, we are told they are coming. It’s been well over a year, probably closer to two, since there have been extra puzzles added.
We understand developers need to make money but didnt think that every stage except the first would be pay to play. Disappointed.

So we emailed the developer a couple of months ago and was ensured they had new levels coming out. We foolishly payed for the unlimited gameplay and got one update out of it. Deleting the game and will not be spending money on anymore borderleap games. Buyer beware. Edit – we’ve been in contact with them (back in August) and they promised more to come. Still havent had an update since last March. Will absolutely not support this developer anymore.
We love this app, but we recently noticed it auto-pastes from your clipboard without asking every time you open it. Not sure if this is a new feature as today was the first time we saw it. There is no reason whatsoever for this, so we can only assume its being used for nefarious purposes like stealing bank account numbers etc. The developer needs to remove this.
