Very simple yet amazing and with todays tech this game would be a massive hit. We all play the games because we want are characters to get stronger as we play the game and this game delivered that early.

This is an amazing game, its fun, has good graphics (for the time, this was made in 1989), and deserves better treatment. You can play the game offline, but you are limited to not being able to rewind and save. The problem is the ads (as all mobile games are), however. You cant even save without viewing an ad! Not only that, but the game gives you an ad often when you pause! Sega, remove these issues, and we will bump this up to 5 stars.
How can we enjoy the game when we can only play a couple levels then we die with no option to continue?
The game is great but when you go to save you cant some issues Im guessing this is happening with all sega games because golden axe is the same way! Please fix this sega! This is a great game!
We bought a Kishi Razer to play this game with since the controls on the screen are too clunky. It does work well with this game. Id like a game upgrade patch to facilitate better gameplay. Thanks in advance.
Im happy because its been ported to mobile, disappointed because its infested with ads. Would not recommend.
Advertising is very intrusive, it took over 30 seconds to get thru an ad, just to get hit with another, we havent even hit START yet! Wow!
This game shows you two ads before you can even begin to play. If you try to exit the ads, the game restarts. We can understand showing ads in between the game ending and a new game but to slam players with two ads before you even begin is cheap. What a pile of junk. We deleted it.
Theres a ad for every other click you do on the game. You spend more time watching ads than you do playing. Ridiculous. What were they thinking.

Im trying to play with our friend but the multiplayer doesnt work. When we put the code in it says invalid room code. So we hope you guys could reach back. But besides that its a great game!
We think this is an amazing experience. We enjoy this, it is pretty hard however, thats what brings it down, but thats what the original version was like. Over all, we give it a 8/10. And is a great download.
This game is great and all but its hard as heck. When you die no matter how far you are into the game when you die you go back to the 1st level. Plz change this and make you start from the beginning of the stage or something like that. Thanks.

You will notice when you get this game it is 9+ (from the App Store 9+ means cartoon/fantasy violence) but this is more than cartoon violence, this may seem shocking, but there is some mild blood every time you defeat an enemy, the storyline is more than dark for 9 year olds, its about rising from a grave to defeat enemies attacking it. This should be age rated AT LEAST 12+ for mild blood. The game is good nevertheless, going back to the 90s to play the nostalgic beat-em-up on a really annoying piece of mechanisms. The shocking age-rating is why the 3-Star rating from us is shown. Theres also some gore! 12-17+ age rating for us. Shocking age rating for sure. Thank you for reading this long piece of writing. SEGA, please change the age rating if you read, we just want kids to be appropriate, please change the age rating, it would make the app much better. Thanks!
You should improve the joystick and play on the iPhone.
Controls are horribly clunky and unresponsive. Ads (I know, theyre necessary) are intrusive.
It wont load the home screen at all.
We really like this game, but our problem that it doesnt upload. It gets stuck on the loading page and stays there. We downloaded another saga retro game to see if we had the same problem but we didnt. We’ve deleted the app and downloaded again more than once. Can someone help?????
We bought premium but Im still getting ads for Gardenscapes, etc.
The ad hovers over the start button. We kept trying to hit start under the button but went to the ad. Had to uninstall.
We guess thats the idea. They are so aggressive with adds to get you to buy the add free version. All it did was make it impossible for us to play the game with multiple adds interrupting game play. We couldnt get any continuity in game play because add after ad popped up. Cant really give you much of a review on game play bugs or anything else. Couldnt even get that far before getting frustrated and uninstalling. You may enjoy, we couldnt take it.
You cant even start playing the game without a 45 second ad wall. We deleted the app without even playing because there were ads everywhere.
Well we downloaded it & we were excited but oh boy this happened every tome we click on altered beast it loads and always stops at the middle FIX IT NOW!!!!!!!!!

Great Game, we really only have one minor gripe is that you have to pay to be able to play it without ads. You have to pay $2.00 USD in order to be able to play the game and not have intrusive ads ruining your fun. If whoever does the Sega Forever line of classics can stop this two dollar B.S. Just for a quick $2.00 from someone paying to get it without ads? Really? If your going to make someone pay for the full game without ads anyway why dont you just have them pay $2.00 to even play the game Ill continue to play the game once but, until theres an update where we can play the game without ads and not be out $2.00 for this scummy business model. We dont mind paying for extra characters in like say a fighting game since that our favorite genre but, come on really $2.00 to play the game with no ads?

When on the third level at the beginning we cant jump high enough to reach the other side or get up to so we waste a life and it makes it harder to get past that level.
Altered Beast is one of those games that you remember being terrible from childhood, but when we decided to pick this up on mobile we were pleasantly surprised. The controls are great, the levels have variety, the bosses are simplistic yet satisfying and the presentation is atmospheric. Im really starting to wonder why so many people overlooked this title as the pack in game for the Genesis before a certain blue hedgehog came along.
This snow but the game controls dont work well and thats hard with bosses.
We bought this fully when it came out. Now after an update we have to repay to remove the adds? Looks like Ill just get the SEGA collection on switch and delete yet another game from our phone.

Altered beast is a blast from the past and amazing to play. 5 levels to progress through with some very cool boss fights at the end of each. Expect nothing less from the late 80s era with lots of beat em up action and power ups that transform you into unstoppable raging beast form. Best title played so far.
This games makes us have so much nostalgia.
At the end of stage 3 it freezes, it wont let us go forward.
Glad to see it got updated to work again! Love this game, played many hours from the beginning with our Dad when we were a kid.
