Retro gaming at its best. We enjoy this game a lot, it reminds us of a Hero q___ board game we played as a kid.

This one is the best one of the series in mho. Great game, helps pass the time. Thanks!

This is a fun and entertaining game well worth the two bucks to get the full version being that it cheaper than a cup of coffee to get full access. Quick learning curve as well and each adventure in the typically 3-4 part dungeons takes only about 10-15 minutes so its a fun time killer on a work break or anytime you have a few minutes to spare. Still you can save your progress at any point during the dungeon so if you dont have to worry about finishing up all at once. Fun to watch your characters progress and become more powerful as you go, earning gold to buy better gear. So if you like the old style pen and paper type rpgs this is a great one to get.

Game runs smooth, even on old phone (iPhone 4). Autosave feature is nice, & ads are infrequent, non invasive, & dont bog down your system. Playability is challenging/frustrating at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty fun & has tons of replay value.

Addictive and brain exercising. We have to admit that we didn’t like it the first time we played it, but it has grown on us. Now we’re complimenting the elf on a good shot, or yelling at the dwarf when a trap explodes in his face (bad day at the office..) The music is uber-epic and enjoyable, and just cuts to absolute silence when the level boss is killed, which we find brilliantly humorous, like you’ve killed the entire symphony with him. The dungeons may get repetitive, but we figure that’s what these adventurers do for a living. If there were a tavern or swimming pool or archery range for these heroes, then the dungeons would remain unexplored and the monsters would breed out of control, and taxes would go up and they’d close down the pool for army funding, and… Ahem, sorry. Excellent tabletop dungeon crawler packed into a mobile device!

We’re relatively novice at table top and dice based RPG. This game is not that difficult to learn.

Im having a lot of fun with the game, but Id like to see an option to have the party move together (following the 1st character). More so, Id like to see the option to instantly exit the level once all monsters are killed and all loot is found.

We enjoy the old school aspect, but wish they had invested some time in different board/map/skins. Every dungeon looks the same (configurations change). Going to the mountains: looks like a dungeon. Exploring the forest: looks like a dungeon. Really our only complaint.

We enjoy playing the game for hours on end, but the game repeatedly crashes making completing some dungeons very difficult. We look forward to that being fixed in a future update.

Free version is ok and very playable but unlock the rest of the gang and get rid of the ads and its very nice. Our favorite group to take in the dungeon is the wizard, dwarf, ranger, and warrior. The cleric is ho-hum unless you find plenty of green potions or give him some other spells. All said, we love looting the dungeons, getting XP for our guys to increase level and skills and buying new gear. Our main wish is that you could find some actual gear in the dungeon, even if you cant equip it until youve finished it.

Fun, simple turned based D&D-esque game. Like to see more Items in the lower levels- but suited our needs fine.

This is an old fashion turn-based strategy ADD game that works very smoothly on this computer base system. It’s a pretty cool game if you can handle a slower pace game.

Pretty good game, but gets kind of repetitive.

Arcane Quest 2 is a solid dungeon crawler with a few notable issues. Those who played the first game will immediately notice the vastly expanded scope. Characters now level up, improving their stats and abilities over time. Magic users unlock additional spell slots as well, giving you access to new builds. Spells, like weapons and armor are purchased with gold earned by completing dungeons. More advanced gear requires higher level characters. All pretty standard fare but implemented well enough. The dungeon crawling is heavily inspired by pen and paper role playing games. Die rolls determine everything(except, thankfully, for movement, the best gameplay change over the first game). You explore a grid based dungeon, fighting enemies, navigating traps, and collecting loot. The games major flaw is that the combat is unbalanced. Enemies and characters tend to have way more defense than attack power. This leads to situations where we spend 15 minutes fighting a single enemy, as neither of us can damage the other. This isnt an issue of difficulty, mind you. Its an issue of poor balance. Our other complaints are about the story and visuals. The story is simple, which is fine, but it is poorly translated (or written by a non-native English speaker) and often descends into gibberish. The visuals, meanwhile are also simplistic. Their main issue is that the developers use a white overlay to indicate your movement points, while also using white and tan floors. It can sometimes make the experience hard to parse, which can be especially damaging on the occasional missions with a turn limit. Overall we consider this to be an improvement over the first game but still not perfect.

The first game was really good, but not quite great. We had hoped this one would be what we were looking for. Nope! Every change was for the worse! Graphics went from smooth 3D to cartoony 2D. User interface is clumsier and buggy. Heroes are downgraded. Battles all have pop-ups that you can no longer disable. Total failure. Going to try part 3 next, but part 1 is clearly superior to this crap.

They took a step back with this release. Fixed movement, less carrying capacity, items are permanently lost if the searching character has a full inventory. The last one there is just ridiculous. Im about to play the third iteration and hopefully whatever brain trust fumbled his or her way through the rules for this version was fired or quit before the third was created.

We are a RPG-lover and this DnD style adventure is well-balanced and fun! We highly recommend for RPG enthusiasts! Many hours of play and lots of re-play value. Well done dev team!

Thank you for bringing this type of game play back its like everyone’s been saying its a lot like heroes quest and thank you for bringing us back to our youth.

Always a big fan of relatively customizable units with deep strategy and RPG elements. We would probably take off half a star because this is in truth a $2.99 game (price for full content, we believe?), and it should probably be described as such up front. But hey, it’s really fun. Oh– it is relatively challenging, and min-maxing is essentially required… But that’s what’s fun about it, we think.

Thanks it is just like the good old days.

Great old school, turn based game. Fun and easy to play. In game purchases are cheap and not required to play game.

Well-made game with a lot of ability to play without paying real money, although a few features are pay required and don’t seem to have any way to work toward in-game, this and the price of full unlock are fair enough. All required features of the game are available for free which is pretty awesome. Very much like playing hero quest like others have mentioned, but with a lot more items and quests/locations.

Classic dungeon crawl game. Works well. It’s well balanced. We usually don’t spend money on apps but we’re considering spending a few bucks for the extra characters.

Really fun game to play on the way to and from school, it gives a sense of victory and defeat.

We think that this may not be the best ever game because it crashed when we turned the music off, before ever diving into playing. On relaunching, the game instantly asks us to give a review of it.

We have been really disappointed with a lot of free games because of ads or poor content or the fact you have to pay to advance and we are really happy that this game is simple but fun. There is plenty to do, the graphics are good and it is entertaining. It is a hack and slash d&d crawl but it is worth a look for anyone who likes d&d.

We were looking for a game just like this that was similar to Hero Quest and we’re so happy to have stumbled upon this! Thank you!

Game seems balanced and progress seems a bit slow. Some battles take forever. Fun.

The game is awesome but we are unable to buy the premium upgrade because it won’t accept our ACTUAL iTunes password even though we are positive we are properly entering the pass.

We really enjoyed this game from the moment we picked it up. It very much resembles the old Hero’s Quest board game we used to play with our friends back in the day but with much more spells and equipment. We also like the fact that you don’t need to be online to play. That’s pretty rare with most iPad games now. The graphics are nothing impressive but for the price, the content is well worth it. This game is definitely a must have if your a fan of the old school RPG board games.

We’ve never taken the time to review any our IOS games. Arcane Quest is Hero Quest in our pocket and we can’t stop playing. We purchased all the add on characters because we enjoy it so much. In app purchase of gold is not needed and we avoid it. Seems like it would take away from why we’re playing.

Short and sweet, we love this game. Now back to playing.

We can’t put it down! This game is awesome. We hope the developer adds additional content and character classes/skills in the future. Superbly well made game.

The first one in this series was good, but this app blows the other one out of the water… Keep up the great work!!

This game does a great job capturing the feel of an old school rpg (like D&D). You play as a small band of adventurers battling goblins, orcs and other typical fantasy baddies. While not groundbreaking the game delivers solid fun. And there appears to be hours and hours of fun to be had. We’ve spent about 4 hours with the game and we’ve barely scratched the surface in terms of quests to play. We’re playing on a 5s and everything works great with a very easy to use interface. We’re having an awesome time.

We really enjoy the game so far, hope you keep it updated, we don’t know if you have this in the works or if you can it could you make it where you can play with others. Thanks for the game.

Being a long time gamer and have played many computer-based rpg games this one rates very high for us. The story line is well thought out and developed, simplicity of play is appreciated, and there have been no apparent glitches with the app which we greatly appreciate! The only reason we gave 4 out of 5 was the graphics [hard to compare to some of the other games available today] but over-all great job! Oh and the in-app purchases we thought were very reasonable, so again thank you!!! Keep it up!

We were a huge fan of the tabletop dungeon crawler, Hero Quest and am now of Arcane Quest! Smooth quick play and great tabletop feel. The dungeons and stories are well thought out with treasures and traps aplenty! We only wish the characters could hold more loot and, being visually character driven we would like that the character pictures be taken more seriously, as they look like they were chosen quickly without critical thought. Other than that very minor negative, it has huge positives as we mentioned above. Way to go!

As like being the only girl who plays this we love the story line and how it works, but we gave this a four of five stars because we have no idea where to switch your heroes, how to use the gold, or buy power ups, and the graphics are really weird. Overall this is a really good game speaking from a girl.

This game looks good but it doesn’t work on our iPod touch 4th gen when we open the game it just says arcane quest then closes please fix.

This is truly a great tabletop style game. We were skeptical before downloading it but as soon as we started playing we knew that it was a great quality game. Veteran players and those new to the game will both find this to be an entertaining way to pass the time. ONE WARNING THOUGH: you will lose track of time and end up playing for 2-3 hours straight so play it when you have time to spare.

This game gives the best old-school table top board game rpg experience. Fans of Hero Quest (or Dark Quest) and D&D will rejoice at the smart balance of simplicity and depth. This was a very well thought through package, and we gladly paid for the bonus missions even though we’re not even done with the in game content yet. We truly love this game. It is what we have been looking for in an iOS rpg for years now. Warhammer should have been this fun, but it isn’t. This game starts off easy at first but it ramps up eventually. The increase is a bit slow, but one you get a few completed missions under your belt, the game flows better.

Fun little turn based RPG. Great casual game for when you need waste a few minutes. Enough depth to provide some thought about squad tactics but approachable enough that not much has to be relearned between infrequent game sessions. Gear helps to differentiate roles between characters especially weapons as having a balance between ranged/diagonal reaching heroes and your toe to toe fighter/tanks become critical as the game pushes on. Only real complaint is the lack of spells and abilities for anything more meaningful than healing. Might be found later in the game we found the mages to be un-useful.
