Dive into Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator

Report to the Bridge!

Artemis is a multi-player, multi-device networked game for IOS devices. IT IS NOT A SINGLE-PLAYER GAME; IT’S FOR FRIENDS IN THE SAME ROOM TOGETHER.

Artemis simulates a spaceship bridge by networking several computing devices together. One device runs the simulation and the "main screen", while the others serve as workstations for the normal jobs a bridge officer might do, like Helm, Communication, Engineering, and Weapon Control.

Artemis is a social game where several players are together in one room ("bridge") , and while they all work together, one player plays the Captain, a person who sits in the middle, doesn’t have a workstation, and tells everyone what to do.

Loads of fun, and works great. Especially if you have the comparability patch on computer.

What. A. Game. Fans of BSG / TREK and many others, will love this game for its amazingly detailed but easy to grasp stations and controls. Its definitely not a single player game, which we imagine is why it doesnt have a 5 star rating on here. If you got a few nerdy friends that you can convince to buy this app, once you play a session together you will understand the hype. LAN is definitely an old school way to play a game in 2022, but operating a starship requires instant communication with your peers. There be no better way than doing it in person. The full touch controls from your iphone or iPad is incredibly satisfying. This game wont wow you with its visuals but its also not trying too. There is a crazy ton of stuff working behind the scenes to make the experience feel true to life and completely sucked us in. Its not an easy game but man is it rewarding when you succeed. All this said – we wouldnt recommend playing without at least 2 or 3 other individuals at a minimum. Artemis smartly gives you the ability to helm several stations at once, however, some roles like Engineering are practically are full time jobs. You will definitely want a minimal crew to help share in the wearing of multiple hats. This iOS version of Artemis is currently locked at version 2.4 for the foreseeable future, but honestly its been ok and much easier for us to get large groups of players together for LAN parties than it ever was whenever we would try to get group seasons going on PC. We dont roll deep in PC gaming so we dont really have a PC community to summon. This version is fantastic and just works. The minimum requirements are so low, it virtually guarantees anyone using an iOS can play and we will ALL be on the same version. Considering how many people own iOS devices, and how easy they are to transport, we find it much more convenient and easy to play in this ecosystem regularly. Its hard to believe one guy created this game and Im glad he hasnt abandoned ship even if iOS does get nearly as much love. Support this game. Its totally worth it.

Community Mod Support in the mobile app would be phenomenal!

Fun once you learn it. Suggestion: put a button on the startup screen linking to either a quick start guide and/or thorough instructions (either on the web or built-in). We didnt know what we were supposed to do when we launched the app and had to research on our own, and Im sure some users never get that far and give up. Their loss!

Or zoom or something like that, because we can’t all be in the same room. Please make a version for playing over the web in some fashion.

Please update the mobile version, it keeps crashing when connected to desktop, thanks.

We happen to have the latest version of the Apple TV, we think it would be easier if you have an app of this for that made just for hosting and big screen display of the ship, so we don’t have to waste a device just to AirPlay the ship and host the game.

We really love this game. We hope it gets updated some day.

Pretty amazing party game. If you want to experience what it’s like to be on a starship bridge, this is it. We recommend looking online on how to run this game online or a local area network. Port Forwarding isn’t the most user-friendly thing for playing with friends. There’s some great tutorials to get it all hooked up though. This app seriously needs an update though and will crash if the server version doesn’t match. 5 stars when updated.

The app theoretically works great, but crashes out when paired with later versions of the game. If the designers could update this to version 2.7 it would be much appreciated !

Great concept and really fun when it works. Unfortunately it crashes all the time and if you have gathered a bunch of people to play and then it suddenly quits after 15 minutes in it really kills the whole deal.

The iOS version is incompatible and will crash if you try and run it with the latest version of the PC server. From everything available, there appears to be no effort to update this app to work with later releases. Other than that, if you are running just iOS or cripple your Artemis server back to 2.4, it works as advertised. But its kinda like having a car with a transmission that never leaves second gear. It runs, but do you really want to take it on a long trip?

This is for an old version of the game 2.4. Current version of the game is 2.7.5, it will not work!

We love the game and concept! But its been 4 years since the iOS update, and its no longer compatible with the pc and steam versions. Pity, because an iPad is about the perfect device to use for this game. It wont be long until it isnt supported in a current iOS at all. If ever an app cried out to run on Apple TV, THIS would be it… But it seems to have run out of antimatter. Sad.

Please update this game, Im dying to play it again!

Can’t use it due to no update. What is going on?

We love this game when we played it at conventions but this app hijacked our screen on iPhone XR and we couldnt close it. No swipe up no response. Very disappointing.

If you have friends. If you have an iAnything. Get Artemis. It’s the most fun with friends. Throw in some colored lights or Philips Hue bulbs for added ambiance.

This is a fantastic game. Our friends and we play on a home LAN and supplement the PCs with iPads. Yes, the iPad version is buggy when you exit it and try to relaunch but there is an easy workaround. Just double click the home button and swipe the Artemis app up to kill it. It should then relaunch fine. If you’ve wanted to command a star ship or at least be a part of the bridge crew, this is the game for you!

This game is so much fun for friends playing with you and if you have multiple devices for yourself too. The star trek game we have all dreamed of. There are some minor bugs like when you leave and come back to the app it gives you black screen but other than that it is the best game for star trek lovers.

Once it got going it was amazing. Cant wait to play again.

Great graphics, worth the money. Its a fun game to play on pc with friends. We only wish you could easily do single player, on a single device.

We were able to use all the functions just fine. Well worth the price.

The latest version (2.1.1) still has a bug on our iPad Air 1 with iOS 8.1.3: launch the game, wait for it to finish loading, then press the iPad’s Home button. Then touch the app again to go back into it. The music keeps playing, but the screen fades to black and the game is unplayable until it’s killed and relaunched.

If you exit the app and go back to the app, you get a blank screen and need to force quit. Oh well. We’re glad it’s working on our new iPad!

Still a great game. We’re only giving it 3 stars due to the lack of proper AirPlay support (720p or 1080p output), and the fact that it is now two revisions out of date with respect to the desktop version. The buzz on the Artemis forums is that issue won’t be fixed until June 2016! The dead of the mobile version need to get it in gear and keep up with the desktop version!

To run with most recent Artemis server software. Artemis is great, and this app is a good implementation of the client stations, but it can’t work unless everybody downgrades to older software How about an update, or a refund, since we can’t use your app?

This is a lot of fun, but it just doesn’t work with the pc version because it’s so out of date.

We love the concept behind this game, and the only reason we did not purchase it earlier was because we could not find other people who would spend $40 for the PC version. We thought that the $3.00 iOS version would be enough for our gaming group, maybe even encourage them to throw down for the real thing. What a mistake. Disconnects everywhere. Poor server support. Awful mission documentation. The list goes on and on. Our group played for two hours before they just couldn’t handle the networking issues. Everyone had an iPhone 5 or later or a current iPad, so tech shouldn’t be an issue. Does anyone even care about this game anymore?

Wont connect to computers anymore. Please update and will increase score.

Worked great til the 2.1.5 version… Now it just crashes. Please roll out an update or refund. Thanks!

We watched friends play a mission at a sci fi convention and wished we had signed up with them! It looks like tremendous fun. Unfortunately, this version is not compatible with the currently shipping server version. Also there is no native Mac support. The next release is supposed to be out in April ’16. It feels as though iOS support is an afterthought for a disfavored step-child.

Disappointed to buy this, version 2.1.1, only to find out its not compatible with version 2.2.0 that theyre selling on the Steam. You will not be able to play with PCs at this time.

The iPad client is behind the PC version and can’t connect to servers any more.

Wow- the iOS version has made some serious improvements. If you have an iPhone in the mix, it worms really well for helms.

We tested it recently using our ipad 2 as the server and it worked without fail! Resetting a ipad before starting a session might help those who experience the app crashing.

This game is unique. There isn’t anything else like it in the world. We would encourage you to get it with friends and geek out. It needs a bit more polishing, but we feel that will happen once it receives more downloads.

Definitely a fun game. You need a bunch of people to make it really fun and shine as a stimulator. The pc game works with this app and vice versa. It’s such a cool idea for a game and we could have fun with this for hours on end. However it does need some updating. Some bugs here and there and occasionally had difficulty connecting to the server, but we don’t see the developer having a problem fixing these minor issues. All around fun game, if you love star trek or star wars then this the game for you hands down.

This game is amazing!!!! Lots of fun to play the one thing we think that would be helpful is if the iPad 1st gen version could be hooked up through a cable to the tv. Idk if other version work but iPad 1 doesn’t so please fix. Thx.

Great game and app but not compatible with current iOS.

We’re playing the demo version on two PCs while using the iPad 3 as a server because we heard it was more stable than as a client. The game looks promising but the frequent crashes eventually made us give up. None of our ios8 devices work with it; they all crash out after the inital splash screen.

This is a great game if you are running iOS 7.x.x. We Updated our new iPad air to 8.1 from 7. Something and now it no longer runs. It crashes on the splash screen. As of this review (11-10-14 4:30 PM) it does not run on iOS 8.1.. The gameplay was great, we started playing it with a friend at a health fair to pass the time. This would be a great game for a group of friends or family. Its fairly simple to set up and get playing. The cross platform gameplay (PC and Mac can play with iPhone and iPads) makes LAN parties simpler.

Artemis is a great game, and since it’s been around on PC for a couple years now, our review will focus on this mobile version, not gameplay. Sadly, this mobile port is pretty buggy. There are several crashes we can reproduce on command, and when switching to the 3d view it lags a lot, which shouldn’t happen on latest gen iOS devices like the iPad Air, because as Artemis players are aware, the graphics aren’t exactly demanding. Or stunning. In addition, this app needs to be updated to the latest version of the game, as it throws an error when interfacing with the PC version (though still playable). What we love about this version is that we can now play Artemis at LAN parties without having to lug our PC around. The touch screen interface is a joy – no more keyboards or mice, just intuitive controls. It functions as one would expect. It also kind of gives a fun "Trekkie" type feel to playing, making it feel more futuristic. If you play Artemis and you have an iPad, we highly recommend this app. We just hope that the devs get the bug issues sorted out soon – though we hear that mobile versions of the game are developed more slowly than the PC version.

Please UTILIZE the new graphics standard iOS METAL!! Runs very bad on anything but super high end devices. Make it so it can run without crashing. Whenever we start playing it says that we are running the wrong server version, then crashes a few minutes later.

Does not work on iOS 8 and the iPhone 6 Plus. Quite a disappointment.

We love the PC version but we can’t get it working on the iPad at all. Won’t even load.

If or when the game works on iOS it’s very fun, but those are few and far between.

Application crashes to home after splash screen on current IOS (8.1.2) and current hardware (new iPad Air 2). We even followed developer’s suggestion and restarted the iPad with a hard reset/power off/power on. New installation; we’re beyond the period of time available for refund. We’re a fan of the desktop version, having bought the game twice on the PC platform (once for 1.x and again for 2.x/Steam). This version, however, appears to have had fatal and unresolved flaws since the fall (IOS 8).

Consistent crashing on iOS8 devices. An obvious lack of appropriate testing in the latest version of iOS makes us sad.

It crashes as it initializes. I’d like a refund, this app is unusuable.
