Backgammon is believed to have started in Persia, eventually finding its way to Britain with the Roman conquest in the 1st century and was played by Emperor Claudius who even had his carriage equipped with a playing board! It became such a gambling mania that it was declared illegal under the Republic.
Playing on the history of the game, there are 6 visually pleasing, rich board designs; Egyptian, Roman, Medieval, Victorian, Modern and Classic.

There are a couple of things that annoy us. When it comes time to take off the pieces the rolls suddenly start to favor the computer. And the app has become buggy. Once a week or so we have to reinstall it. That might be due to the fact we have an iPhone 8+ But overall this game is huge fun. Ive tried most of the backgammon apps and this is the most user friendly. We play it four or five times a day. Its really fun.

This December 2025 review is our latest update since 2023. We are at lever 200, for all that is worth. We play at the hardest level, for over 8,000 matches. We are almost 6:1 better than the computer. Playing it has led us to study the game seriously. We are much improved. So, our previous review stands. This indeed the one: Looking for a great inexpensive backgammon game. Try this one, no need to try any other. The game has been further improved is even more challenging. Our last review was in 2022. In an uncorrected recent review sent in error, we mis quoted this date. We promised in that review to send another review when we could regain our status as 5 to one, playing the hardest level against the computer. January 2023 saw us regain our 5:1 position. We are now heading fast to a 6:1 status against the computer. We have reached level #143. The random dice generator is excellent. However, the game is programmed to reward good play and punish bad. One weakness we take advantage of is, if we are about to be gammoned or backgammoned, we simply hit forfeit and lose only whats on the doubling cube. We avoid losing the gammon or backgammon. After some more study, we are now fast approaching our 6:1 goal against the computer at hardest level. Want a challenge, this is it! (Please pardon any typing errors. Thanks.).
This is, by far, the best backgammon game we've found. We play both backgammon and acey deucey and enjoy both immensely. We were very happy to find both games in one package, too! Can't recommend this app enough. It's a great investment.

We play one game on our tablet and its been this one for 10 years now.
The backgammon board does not line up with the game pieces. Please help! We have been writing via email and sent picture of the board and game pieces, since June 2024 and received no solutions. You still have not corrected the issue. Issue is still not resolved as of 10/2025.
We play at the hardest level and dont always win and it doesnt appear as if the AI is beating us with incredibly fantastic rolls.
Doesn't crash. Seems fair in terms of rolls and luck and skill. We like it.

We play this Backgammon game every day. Several times. It works well. Sometimes when it first loads, the stones are smaller, but after a game, it refreshes and the stones are normal size again. Other than that, we have had near flawless game play since we first downloaded the game.
It is the most fair that we have found.
We consider ourselves an excellent player. We live in a retirement community and play all the time. We have also played in tournaments with great success. There should be about 15 percent doubles and not 40 percent in each game. Roll a pair of dice 100 times over and over again and you will average about 15 percent. Please check it out for yourself. Way to many doubles on both sides. Your random or fair and balance system is the same. It doesn't matter. Players that rate your system high are not good players. Thank you, Edmerle.

Fantastic game. The only bummer is it is so darn addicting.
We paid these folks a couple of dollars many years ago. Havent seen an ad since! Game is straightforward as we play it. No silly stuff interrupting us. Usually match against the game, 3 pts. We wouldnt say theres never been a day that we didnt grimace at the number of rolls that were doubles for the home team versus us butoverall its Reliable, mindnumbing, gameplay! Isnt that all work really after? Really good.
The computer sure gets a lot of doubles when its bearing off.
Backgammon great time to spend Play here in Gig Harbor WA. We spent Average 3 hours on this weekly we actually live by the hour just check our scores.
Straightforward version of the game on a nice clean board.
Good flow and decent random dice rolls in the higher difficulty levels.
Great format and visuals. Nice choice of visually beautiful boards from which to choose.

C. 2019 – Great way to pass the time when on the train. 11/2022 – we question whether the dice are as random as regular dice. 12/2022 – You need to stop saying, Sorry, you lost just say You lost If feels less condescending. 01/2023 – Love the game. 01/25/2023 – we really think the dice is not random. Its not so bad that we dont like the game. 07/08/2025 – There was some weird glitch that happened where the checkers were set up differently and we could not figure out how to get it back the way it usually was. We took it off our phone and reloaded it and it seems to work now but it was a little annoying.

This game seems like playing on a regular board. All good.
Except the computer throws doubles EVERY other turn and the player throws doubles every other game.
