Banner Saga Reviews

Played this on Xbox and loved the story, was super excited to have it on our phone. Worth every penny no issues with the UI at all. Awesome game!!

Amazing. Beautiful art, intense, nail-biting RPG strategy and combat, and emotional, provocative story. Our only problem is that we cannot get the third installment on iOS right now and that is preventing us from continuing the story as we cannot get it on platforms that we dont have, like PlayStation, Xbox, or PC.

We love this game, and also Banner Saga 2. Its epic and evocative. The battle mechanics are smart and the games successfully create an entire world, which is what we’re really into.

Difficult game with Perma death. Amazeballs.

Holy guacamole. If you like amazing art, awesome characters, a fantastic story, beautiful music, strategy and having your choices actually affect the story, this is the game for you. We kept going back and forth on downloading it but decided to give it a try. Im going to replay it so many times. Seriously. This game is insanely good.

Great tactical game like final fantasy tactics with beautiful, soulful scenes and a great narrative. Then ending will make you feel something. Played it on our iPhone plus, would recommend it on iPad.

This game is an amazing experience.

We know, that Banner Saga releases on PC, originally, but we never have time for indie games. So, we decide to try it on mobile and it was great experience, thanks Stoic!

This game has stunning artwork and a beautifully haunting soundtrack. This turn based strategy rpg has deep gameplay that cater to the players particular style. Our only lament is that it ended so soon. Perhaps it ended quickly because the game is so addicting and the story so engrossing.

We personally really liked this game alot. The main story is well thought out and very compelling we found myself wanting to find out more and more. The art work is beautiful and while sone what simple it really brings out the rustic feeling of the old world. Game play is intence on normal and hard, easy is a good way to learn the mechanics and rules of combat. One thing we really like was that every time we played the main story basicly stayed the same but the events on the road were always diffrent and very rewarding when you help someone and later on in game in a desprate situation that person you helped 40 days ago helps you and saves you. There are only 2 things we didnt really like but this is just our opinion. One thing was the game seemed to be over quickly but our first run took us about 10 hours. The 2nd thing was that the ending we wasnt thrilled about only because it left us wanting more n wishing we could exsplore more of the vast land before us. All in all great game good re-play value and well worth the 10$ we would highly recommend buying this game we enjoyed it alot and we hope you do too.

Yall we cried at the end. Immersive world and narrative that made us look forward to every next fight and calculate our response to every challenge. As the DM for a D&D podcast we cant more highly recommend this game for inspiration for your D&D writing and gaming. Andrew ChasmQuest.

Please give us Banner Saga 3 on iOS.

We were Skeptical at first paying more than usual for an iOS game but WOW worth every penny. The only thing we would like to see is more backstory and details just to better understand the surroundings when you first begin. But wow what an adventure. Great work.

We have been looking for a very overall solid and INTERESTING RPG for the iPhone for a while now. Final fantasy was a bit too pricy, and a lot of the other RPGs on the iPhone really didnt catch our attention. We downloaded this game after hearing about it and we love it. Half way through (will update once finished) and Im totally addicted. Really interesting story, LOVE the organ trail type of gameplay, and game play combat is unique and rewardable. If the second half is anything like the first we will be replaying this game and following up with playing the sequel.

This game series is amazing, from the music from Austin Wintory, to the subtle movements of the hand-done art, to the difficult journey and the trying decisions you must make to survive; we love this game. It is deceptively poignant, especially when you get to Banner Saga 2, where all your choices carry over, and all your sacrifices are felt more keenly. We highly recommend this game. When we have writers block, this helps to put a fire under our seat, and get our hands typing again. Thank you Stoic, for this amazing addition to the world.

Interesting game, some learning curve, unusual. Great art music.

Written on: Monday January 30, 2018 First off, we bought this game December 14, 2017 and just completed it two days ago. While this is a review, we will also address people’s complaints. The banner saga is a grimly tale of Norse mythology set to the tone of a viking Oregon Trail, meaning it is very strategic and consequential if not played like that! Their are 7 chapters in the game each with very heavy dialogue sections that are not voice acted, and is set to be a trilogy. The controls are fine and tailored to ios so you won’t have a problem. The animations are beautifully drawn out as you transverse the 11-15 hour game. Their is a very non existent settings in the game where all you can do is select your language, volume/ music on or off and that’s it however we will have to commend the developers because they actually incorporated extra settings in your device settings for the game which to our knowledge has never been done before! Overall, The story of banner saga is one of hardships, choice and consequence and strategy where one wrong move means defeat!!!!!

We love this game it really is made very well and we love the battle sequences where you have to strategize and manage supplies and all that. Our only problem is was being stuck in a loading screen after our game froze while traveling. We deleted the game and now re downloading it to see if that will work.

We have the Banner Saga Games on steam, got them on twitch through being an amazon prime member, and we now have them on ios. Excellent games great ports banner saga 3 lets go.

Great characters. Great story telling. Moving. Gripping. And the combat system is strong as well.

We can’t finish this game. We get way too invested in the characters. We feel like that’s a weak review, but it’s a really good game.

You cant beat the story. You cant beat the graphics. You cant beat the music. All in all a great game. We have played it over 10 times. A++++

RPG and story and beautiful design. Cant ask for more, except for it to be longer!

Amazing gameplay and story. Don’t purchase if you expect the same monotony of candy crush. This is a full fledged game with story/character development/excitement of an old school RPG, when games were good! A true masterpiece in story, gameplay and content. Tastes of Norse mythology with a twist of survival horror frustrations, absolutely decadent.

… And their kid was an enthusiast of Viking culture.

This game is one of the finest pieces of interactive art currently available. Superb writing, gorgeous visuals and a rich orchestral soundtrack weave an experience that the player will care about and remember. Nothing about this production is phoned-in. This is a high quality experience that will inspire a generation of game developers. Once you get the hang of combat, you’ll look for excuses to start a fight. We love this game. Super fun.

Must play this game if u like strategy games xcom or otherwise.

The developers outdid themselves. Great story and awesome choices. And the graphics are soooooooo pretty. Highly recommended.

Soo much better than most of the games in the App Store.

A great title which follows an ever more mythic progression of viking lore. RuneQuest fans and D&D fans should not miss it!

The game exceeded all of our expectations!

Fun game with an even better story. However, during the battles on our iPhone XS Max the point of view will get locked into a single position after zooming in. This makes it impossible for us to complete that battle because we cant see half of our fighters / enemies. Really annoying when Im doing great and the screen gets stuck. Please fix and maybe add a feature for full screen? Will change to 5 s if glitch is corrected. UPDATE Have been playing on our iPad mini and its a much better experience. The screen doesnt get stuck in a fixed location. We were also surprised that our game continued where we left off on our iPhone.

We’ve always been intrigued by this game but only recently picked it up, and now we cant put it down. We enjoy everything about the game; the story, art, music, all drew us in and made us interested in the lore, and characters of this world. We dont write reviews very often but this is one we felt needed to be made. We plan on playing the second game ASAP.

This game is hauntingly beautiful. Amazing. Buy it.

Just fantastic! At least we can say something good came from EA sucking the soul from Bioware. Good job Stoic!

We really really liked this game. The storytelling is very tense as you go through the game deciding whats best for your people. The game keeps you guessing whether you just made the right move or not in a fantastic way. The art is beautiful and if you let yourself be immersed in the world, you will get a story unlike any other!

First things first… THIS GAME AND ITS SEQUEL ARE WITHOUT A DOUBT, The top 5 Games you could get on this platform. So because the title might be cut off, we will repeat what we said. Due to BS we’ve bought this game and the second one twice… But it is MORE THAN WORTH IT! The story, the voice acting, the setting, the decision making (NOT BLACK AND WHITE AND BELIEVE ME YOU CANNOT PREDICT THE RESULTS OF YOUR CHOICES LIKE A MASS EFFECT STYLE GAME) There arnt enough compliments we can give this game (and BS2) So summarizing…. IF YOU LIKE TURN BASED STRATEGY, Fantasy, RPGs, Or Are looking for a good story… BUY THESE GAMES…. YOU MOST CERTAINLY WILL NOT REGRET IT. Love and respect everyone. -Jim.

Hooked. Plain and simple. Storyline that has twists and turns that you impact with every decision. Unique combat system that leaves you in a state of excitement for the next encounter. We are so pleased with this game.

The finest art direction we’ve seen in an iOS game, bar none! Gorgeous storytelling, though it takes a bit of time off the top of the game to understand the backstory of the world you’re dropped into. Smart, strategic gameplay that allows your decisions to have real consequences in the long-term. Lots of replayability; as soon as we finished we restarted to see how new decisions would lead to new consequences. Worth every penny!

If you are looking for an engrossing adventure. A new world to explore, and love strategy. This is your game. Its incredible.

Gorgeous artwork, excellent storyline, complex characters, and compelling game design are threads that weave a tapestry of profound experience. The darkness of humanity and civilization combat the better angels of our nature, usually between parties but often within individuals, including you, the player, who is forced to make difficult decisions that impact the game and your relationships within it. This combines with a unique system of resource management and combat mechanics that leave you wanting more. By the end of the game (which we played for at least 12 hours), you forget the somewhat steep price (for a mobile game) because the experience is well worth it. Stoic has gone above and beyond with this saga. We will be purchasing parts 2 (on iOS) and 3 (on PS4).

If your into turn based strategy this is a great one. Keep in mind that it throws you right into the fray, dont let your characters die early on.

Story was amazing, tactical fighting great. Made us realize the level of narrative possible on such a simple model because most games lack this type of depth.

Fun game but you need to finish the trilogy and give us #3 on mobile. Dont leave us hangin.

Title explains our overall opinion: stunning game, magical soundtrack and we have never seen Nordic art to exquisitely executed. Magnificent job you guys, thank you.
