Find out what gamers are saying about Beyond: Light Advent Collector’s Edition (Full):

We played this title a while back through Big Fish on our laptop, and loved it then. It may not be everyones cuppa tea, but we thoroughly enjoy the 50s Creature Feature nostalgia, the unique puzzles, and HOGs that take fracturing/combining to a whole new level. The voice work is top-notch, and collectibles and morphers are easy – especially with the free BF app/guide. Our only complaint?: we’ve yet to understand the avarice that prevents a multi-billion dollar company like Apple from allowing Big Fish game club members from applying Club Credits to AppStore purchases. Oh well, Apple needs to make money somehow, right? And he who dies with the most toys wins.

Mad Head you did it again! You are an astronomer checking out a crashed meteor only it’s not a chunk of space rock it’s your childhood friend all grown up! He’s here to help save earth from the World Eaters – who will destroy the Earth. Futuristic technology, memory crystals that let you step into other people to complete quests, diary (under menu button) custom difficulty, unique HO (morphing objects in HO), collectable rockets with indications (rocket lower right says one is available in scene, glows once found). Fabulous sci fi storyline. Verdict: BUY!

Note: "Darkness and Flame: Born of Fire" by FIVE-BN is now out. What a breathtaking change in pace and ambiance! The plot fosters an alluring, invigorating reaction with a consistently high level of suspense and anticipation exhibited through an unconventional and ingenious context. Upon first reflection, you believe that your unexpected, extraordinary visitor is a figment of your imagination as he delivers ominous, premonitory messages of the coming of darkness and despair; consequently, unorthodox circumstances start to unravel through climactic, bustling actions as you move from one predicament to the next while trying to prepare for this startling alien invasion. The 1950’s time period helps promote a sense of nostalgia with the old-styled cars, walkie-talkies, and drive-ins. The characters’ personalities intensify as the story progresses; each one has a distinct attribute, which adds a sense of dissimilarity while avoiding flatness. The dialogue will entertain you with its humorous and witty remarks. The setting demonstrates a realistic, genuine scientific experience in the following ways: the astronomy laboratory, including the use of various tools and equipment, such as a giant telescope to observe constellations far out in the sky; intrusive, foreign spaceships closely approaching and ready to invade and overtake our planet; and the "blink" teleportation to an alternative-reality-based world where we get a clear insight as to the essence of Nix’s existence. This game displays a surreal and cinematic presentation, which intelligently absorbs the player into the environment; we can sit back, enjoy the show, and wait for the Grammys. The cut-scenes are dynamic and compelling; they are executed to fascinate the player with a vivid, immersive perspicacity. The graphics/color scheme are exquisitely incandescent; they emanate many richly textured, lustrous, and scintillating shades that reflect the iridescent galaxy and the starry, midnight-blue sky. You can customize your settings; choices are generous and will appease individual preferences. The inventory is labeled and interactive; items require assembly. The map is a bit hesitant to open; however, it fluidly transports us to the designated locations, as well as indicates available actions. The HOS are leading-edge with a gratifying variety of clever twists on gameplay; they fit into the theme rather suitably, such as finding parts to scientific devices. We love the beautiful and luminous scene with the rune/symbols in the cave. The puzzles are imaginative, original, and scientific oriented in nature; they are well suited to the theme, such as when you adjust telescope lenses to track coordinates of falling objects. We also love the one where you choose your path while avoiding being caught by soldiers and watchdogs. Transition between scenes is fleeting and is void of any delays. Your collectibles are obtrusively placed. If we had a negative aspect to report, it would be that we resent the access of the map and journal from under the Menu; this disruption is typically formulaic with Madhead, and it creates an unnecessary break in concentration. We’re not surprised that the developer here is Madhead; they are known to create the most influential, cutting-edge, and "think-outside-the-box" games, which put them light years ahead of their peers. This "work of wonder" made us reflect on our childhood memories when we curiously watched "ET" and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" for the first time; we hope that we revisit these memories again soon.

The best game ever!!! We love this game! Would Love to see more like this one. Such a change from most of the games that’s out there.

The story line is what makes this game so fantastic. It is so easy to suspend disbelief it’s like participating in a movie. The mini-games are so-so, but that’s a personal bias. We hate arcade style games and some of the puzzles are quite simple; guessing and matching. But others are interesting and challenging. I. Have to admit that we were so into the plot that we skipped a couple of puzzles to get back to the story! This was great. Can’t wait for the sequel. Please say there will be a sequel (Did we just write THAT?)

Mad Head games never disappoints – Phenomenal graphics, unique & interesting storyline. Loving the characters, which are very believable. The storyline really draws you in and you become part of it. Hidden object scenes and puzzles are different and fun. So much to see, absorb and sort out. A real winner for us. Thank you, Big Fish & developers! KdBoots.

Simple. Same as the version on our Mac.

S/O to Izzyoc! We like all your recommendations for other games to try!! Thank you! Looking forward too more of your suggestions. Keep ’em coming!! Mad Head Games you rock! Liked the concept, very different from most HOS games, great graphics, and more interactive than most.

So the App Store deleted our first review, so here is our take again. Love this game – we’ve been waiting for this since it was released on PC last year. All the bells and whistles you would expect from a CE. Unusual story and settings; a nice break from the paranormal creepiness we’ve been seeing lately. The Good: Mostly clear graphics although we did find one or two scenes a bit dark. Collectible rockets in each scene (some easy, some not so easy), morphing objects in the HOGs. Transportable map. Humorous dialogue (although the bow tie on the geek was a wee bit stereotypical!). Customizable mode of play. Good transition times between scenes (one of our pet peeves that can completely ruin a great game) The Bad: we did get booted out once while trying to adjust our play settings, but after restarting the game, had no issues afterwards. The Ugly: Nada Heads-up: latest Five-BN game "Flame and Darkness" just released today! Also Mad Head Games has directly released "Adam Wolfe" which is a combo film noir/comic book/HOG game – looks interesting although a bit dark in vibe and scenery. Free trial so you can check it out. They have a short-term sale for discount on the first four episodes.

We never miss getting Mad Head games and this is another great example of why. We absolutely love everything they’ve done, and their games are actually one of the only ones we end up replaying frequently. We never do reviews but feel like this deserves a positive one. Great storyline, great graphics, great everything! We’re hoping for a sequel. More like this and more Mad Head games please.

Great game! When’s the next one coming out? Puzzles need more explain action but overall good buy and fun.

Worth every penny. Different but not difficult.

Beautiful graphics and great story line. We have not gone very far but so far we are enjoying this game from a developer we were not familiar with. Better than the tired games Big Fish has been releasing lately.

We normally hate the storylines but this was interesting. Great graphics, very challenging games and quite different from 90% of what’s out there.

Thought we would try this HO game because of the price. We were hugely surprised. One of the BEST games we have played in a long time. Enjoy!

We bought this game thinking it was just a normal game but oh our gosh, it was incredible! Really enjoyed it and will have to play all over again. That’s something we never do! Buy this game, you will love it!

Great great great , unique storyline, the puzzles are fun and not very easy or hard, you should open your eyes for morphing objects in HOPs and collect rocket ships there’s no glitch for us and mad head games never disappoint us l enjoyed this game and can’t wait to see more from mad head games.

Its got it all good puzzles and not the same boring stuff just try the game you wont be disappointed!

It was ok but not great. We understand the mixed reviews on this one. We don’t mind having allot of dialog as we enjoy the story as much as the game play in these games but felt the puzzles lacked direction leaving us feeling lost and frustrated. We have to mention that MAD HEAD GAMES put out a new game in this genre without going thru big fish and it’s fantastic! We couldn’t put it and literally played it all the way thru for hours! It’s called ADAM WOLF. You must try this game! It’s different than others but in a good way! We can’t wait for the second episode to be released! Find it and play it!

Finally a new genre for mystery adventure: HOS in space! Yes Big Fish, we grow weary of the spooky games. Give us more this please!

WOW!! We so enjoyed playing… Loved the approach to the story line & hidden objects!

We usually go with the mystery adventure type game. This was a nice variation on that. Well done.

A lot of instructions didn’t work for mini-games. We had to keep pressing the "?" button before instructions finally showed up. Touch screen did not respond in some other minigames too so we had to skip them. Nice graphics and variety of scenes though, and game got more interesting as it went on. Diner and movie set scenes were impressive.

It is long which turned out to be a plus because it seemed to get better. Very different… Disjointed story and graphics. Crystals? Cowboys? Robots? Some clever HOPs and puzzles but not all by any means. WAY too much text and phone calls. We want to play not read!!! Also if we watch one more screwdriver untwist a screw we’ll lose our mind. This is original and creative but we wish writers would remember that we want to solve puzzles and not watch videos.

Was so delighted to have a different story than the usual. Unfortunately we found the game difficult to follow. We custom set our games with no sparkles, so that may have been one problem for us only. Loved that the mini games were new/different but could not complete many of them. We understood the objectives but could not execute moves. Had to skip many. That reduced our enjoyment of the game considerably. Agree with others, too much dialogue, not enough play. Did not bother with the bonus game. Picture us disappointed.

For us there was too much conversation, not enough hops.

Not our cup of tea! We will admit the graphics and cinematic effects were incredible but we didn’t really understand the story much and we are not a sci-fi buff. The game seemed short, even with bonus adventure. You could customize settings. Loading was instantaneous and at each location you collect a rocket ship. The diary and map were located outside the game in the menu section, a major inconvenience, and most of the time if you didn’t have enough "blinks" you couldn’t teleport anyway, so we didn’t see the sense there! Inventory was labeled and interactive and there were complex items to assemble. The HO scenes had morphing objects and there was a decent variation. There was a variety of puzzles/ games with everything from boring rotational stuff, to codes to games of skill or dexterity. There was not a ton to do at each location, and we found that there was way too much dialogue for our taste! We usually love games from Mad Head but not this one. We just felt out of our element and didn’t really love it. It also seemed not to flow well, although we can’t say it was horribly glitchy. Hopefully the next few games are better. We are beginning to wonder if we are burned out on these games or the games really weren’t that great! At least no rats, right Dracyy? Lynxie sends to the DTE!

For the most part, we have enjoyed most all Mad Head games we’ve played. In fact, we’re really sorry they aren’t making mobile games anymore. And we’re also sorry to say that this is one of our least favorite. We found it particularly aggravating in certain places, not least of which was the "hmm … What can we do with this?" or "hmm … What can we do here?" we need a little bit more guidance than that, and we found myself using the hint button way more than we wanted to. Given a chance to make a couple more games in this title, MH probably would’ve gotten to a place where it was as smooth and fun as many others. But the aggravation on this one outweighed the enjoyment. UPDATE: Played this again, just to see if we hated it as much as before and yes, we did. It could have been such a good game if you hadnt fired all the people who write up the directions that what should we do here business is just a waste of everybodys time like we said, pure aggravation.

The game is ok- too long conversations not enough action. Also- Why do IPad games show up on the Big Fish app. When you only choose I-Phone?? There are too many new IPad games versus iphone & it’s getting aggravating. The iPhone games have gotten just as expensive. This game is not worth the $6.99 price we paid for it. Buy on sale only!

Nice graphics but this game is tedious with all the dialogue and nagging to rate it. I’d pass on this one.

We really enjoy these kind of games but many of them have issues that give us a headache. This one has a unique story which makes it very fun. Except for the many tasks which require multiple attempts to make the correct answer take. The glitches along with the gear visual and fail sound are nauseating after dozens of attempts to perform a task. We generally quite your games that do this , we kept on with this game because of the strong story line. We know you can make a smoother experience. Cadenza Music Betrayal and Death keeps us hoping. Ps please get rid of gears and boing sounds. Ugh!

Cut-away scenes take up 2/3 of the game! The mini puzzles aren’t intuitive. The "instructions" tell you what you’re supposed to do, but not how. Was we supposed to steer the motorcycle? How? On a positive note, the HO scenes are challenging. The story is even good. The graphics are just okay. But those cut-away scenes are just too long.

Save your money! Don’t buy this garbage game! Wish we hadn’t believed Draccy’s review! Way too much idiotic conversation, and mouths don’t even move! What’s with having to go to the Menu to use the Memory Bracelet?! Too much extraneous distractions in every scene that aren’t relevant to the story. The so called sound effects and music are very annoying and don’t go with an outer space theme at all. The radio is especially annoying and unnecessary. These are just a few of the many problems, and we’re only starting chapter three! Our recommendation … DONT BUY IT! Just finished the game…. FINALLY! It’s BEYOND, alright…. BEYOND STUPID! We could hardly wait for it to end! Didn’t even bother with the bonus game! We say again….. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GARBAGE!

We just wanted to give this game steady 3*, only because the game just didnt touch us and was boring, as we accidentaly started it with internet on. So as usual BFG Inc infested the game with ads. We dont tolerate when apps that we have bought show ANY type of ads.

Mostly video. The games are very easy. Poor storyline. We have spent most of our time waiting for the characters to quit talking.

We’re so sad this game was so bad. We really wanted it to be good… It looked interesting… But unfortunately, it was painfully slow, very boring with simplistic mini games, and tons of dialog…. Ugh ….. You can’t even make it go faster…. We didn’t even do the bonus game – it was that bad….
