Take control of Crusader and free the lands from the hordes of the Nethermist in this turn based strategy rogue. Card Dungeon is a completely unique and handcrafted board / card /rogue-like game experience unlike anything you have played before. Easy to pick up and play for 10 minutes, but has enough depth and strategy that you will still be playing after multiple hours.

You can only do 1 thing / turn. Choose wisely.

When the game starts you are dealt three cards. The cards are used for attacks, defense, health, magic, summoning and much more. When the player defeats a monster or opens a chest, a new card may be revealed. The user then has to decide if they want to keep their current card or switch it to the new one. Progress through the levels as far as you can. When you die, you restart at the beginning. If you make it back to where you died, you get all your cards and money back.
No IAP. No in game ads. No internet required. Buy it once and get the full game as it should be.

Find out what gamers are saying about Card Dungeon:

If you recall DnD as part of the good old days, look past 3 action card limit, then it’s a great game, once you understand the game play of it. Good strategy.

This has been one of our go-to games for years. We love everything about it. Now that our wife has taken interest; we would be very happy to see expansions for co-op and vs. Modes… And we would gladly pay $$$ for it! Maybe a sequel?!

We really like the concept of this game, you have to make careful decisions to survive. So far it seems like the most beneficial cards to choose are the ones that do direct damage but that may change when different perks are chosen (the starting perk available to everyone heals for 5 every turn).

Loved it. Finally completed it. Highly recommend it.

We always come back to play and see how far we can get. It seems like Zelda for Nintendo in a card-based game. We also like how its never the same game, if you have to start over again. Sometimes we wish there was a way the Save your spot in the game!

This game is a blast if you just have a few minutes here and there. Our only complaint is it is fairly short and has a limited set of cards. Even with that though, the replayability is terrific.

Deck builder board game. Definitely worth it.

This is a fantastic dungeon crawling rogue like set up with great board game aesthetics. Many different ways to play it and strategies one could take.

We don’t have the crashing problem, they must have fixed that bug, overall one of the best games we have seen in a while. There are not allot of dungeon games period. Much less ones that allow you to play them, walk away and continue where you left off. Worth playing.

Your wife is going to be extremely displeased that you found this game and the honey do list is forgotten for 3 days. Challenging but fair and glitch free! Can’t wait for more content.

A fun and quick hack-n-slash adventure that gets more challenging mentally as you go along. Single action turns and degenerative cards makes it as much about strategy and tactics as it does about plowing into enemies and collecting loot. The cards are diverse and simple, which makes for interesting combos that can really pack a punch. The learning curve is intense (you will die many, many times) and having to start from the beginning is motivation to take your time and consider your next move. The story is somewhat lacking and there is room for cutscenes between chapters that would really help players understand why the Crusader is here. All in all it gets an 9/10 for mechanics, 4/10 for story, and 8/10 for overall gameplay. (I gave it 5 stars because we can’t help but love it)

It’s an enjoyable dungeon crawler with lots of replay value. The rooms and maps are randomly generated, as well as the treasure drops. The unique aspect of the game is that your "attacks" break after you use them 5-8 times, which forces you to use drops from enemies. This can be frustrating the first few times, but you can have your cards restored at the red fountains. It can also be hard to notice "status" conditions on your character unless look at your enemies past attacks. The game encourages dying by randomly giving knowledge gems on enemies. Theses allow you to unlock new perks/flaws which make future runs much easier. Some cards seem much more useful than others (I used lava tile for most of the game). If you want a adventure game with lots of replay, this is the game for you!

We’re a huge boardgame / rpg fan. This satisfies our urge to move figures, roll dice and kills monsters. Amazing presentation, unique and fun mechanics and extremely challenging. Keep up the great work!

This is overall a pretty good game, The issue we have is a glitch that happened. We had summoned a demon to help us fight a mini-boss, and the demon killed the mini-boss with hell-fire. However, after the tune played and we were told we had beaten the level, the demon turned on us and killed us with one spell. Is this intended?

Needs updated content, DLC or maybe characters to choose from. Fun game though.

This is a great game. Very fun, and a cool mechanic all around. Upgrading/leveling is pretty buggy, though: you’re supposed to unlock new traits with special gems. We’ve found two, they tell us we’ve unlocked a new trait, but nope. Then the rules say that you visit a "shop" every three levels, but we’ve never seen it show up: lots of gold and nowhere to spend it! Maybe we’re not understanding, but if so that needs to be more clear in the rules. But this is really fun! We hope these bugs get fixed, and then we’ll be the first to change our review to 5 stars.

Should be a way to pan around screen without it shooting back to your guy right away, some of the equipment doesn’t work right away, like ring that gives +4 to maximum health, we only got it on next floor. "Summon a demon to do ur bidding" -attacks us each turn -_- should be more shops and not only sell health/mana. Game glitches out sometimes, where enemies stuck on screen with 0 health, a lot of other little glitches, like standing on a blessed tile but not getting conditions removed, or tapping on a card and there’s massive outter red boxes around them.

Beat it on the 2nd time playing it. Perhaps they should add an endless dungeon. Very cool concept but once you beat it, you have little incentive to do it again.

We really enjoyed this game for a few days. Beautiful style and humorous theme. However, we encountered a bug where the level complete portal would spawn in an inaccessible place. This happened multiple times. Very frustrating because you then have to restart your entire game. Additionally, the integrated game recording library they use, Everyplay has been shutdown for over three months. Looking at the version history form this game, it does not appear to have been updated in a couple of years. We think this game may be a zombie itself.

Really like the game play. Visuals are nice but we can’t turn the music or the sounds OFF! The music toggle won’t toggle and while the sound toggle visually will toggle it does nothing functionally to the sound. If the sound issue gets fixed I’d give this app another star.

Pretty, clever, simple graphics. Good GUI. Some strategy required. Turns can lag as you wait for monsters to move.

Needs a better way of moving around and seeing the complete board of the game, also add more information into the game.

Looks great and accomplishes its goal of being a simple dungeon crawl. It’s flaws are the cards don’t last long. They break and you wind up just running around 1 turn at a time waiting for any monster to die on their own so you can see if they have a card. Why do cards need to break? This makes no sense. Also you can’t zoom out enough to even see your next move and when you swipe to try to see as soon as you lift your finger it autos back to your last position. You have to use both hands to navigate sometimes and that should not happen. Anyhoo, if cards were stable we can see how this would be fun but right now it’s just frustrating. We’re guessing all those glowing reviews are friends.

We found the game a bit boring to begin with. Just tried to continue our play through and was dropped into 2-1 with no monsters and no way to continue. Choosing restart trashed our game and put us back at 1-1.

Art work is great, interesting concept but the need to start over from very beginning after dieing rather than most recently completed level is a real pain.

Devs stopped working on the iOS version (Pc) has always been better, but it is very pay to win. And not very fun.

Waste of time and money. Don’t bother with this garbage!

The game has a very nice look, but after playing with it for a couple of hours we became quite frustrated with how limited our choices really were. We’re a big fan of difficult games, and was hoping that this would test our wits the way Darkest Dungeon and Card Hunters does, but hard games are only fun when winning or losing is the result of a player’s decisions. The lack of choices hits you the moment you start your first game, when you have one type of hero to choose from, one choice of positive traits, and one choice of negative traits. You don’t even get to name your generic knight. Anything you find in your adventure has to be used immediately, or lost forever. Since any given card can only be used about a dozen times before running out of charges, it’s very easy to find yourself with access only to defensive/buff cards, and without a fresh attack card you are effectively unarmed. New cards are obtained almost exclusively by killing monsters, so if your last offensive card is out of charges you are utterly screwed. If you could trade in all of your defensive cards for one offensive card, you could keep playing. Alternatively, if dying gave you an additional trait to choose from on your next attempt, there would be some reason to try again. As it is we’re moving on. We’ll likely check back in a year, but for now we’re taking this off our tablet.

We just beat the game we really enjoy level 7 lol we flipped out when we opened the first door and seen all those nasties. One recommendation is for the final level please allow us to get all the other top tier equipment / spells just so we can see what they are like we know there is a lot that we haven’t seen even though we beat it. Also we think you should offer a heal and card renew option at the merchant maybe 50 gold for heal 75 for card renew. That is all thank you guys very good game can’t wait for #2 we would love to beta test if you will allow us we have experience in that field.

A tabletop RPG in our phone! This game is amazing. We really hope they make a part 2.

Don’t listen to the haters. This is a good game!

Please make a "confirm" to leave the current level. We have missed loot several times now cause we accidentally tap on the portal to leave. Fix that and it’ll be great!!!

Why are there ads in this if we PAY for it?

Not a bad crawl. Still some bugs but nothing major. The mechanics of the cards and equipment wearing out keeps the game from stagnation. Beat it with "laminated cards" perk and lava eruption.

It’s not as polished, font on cards seems small and game just throws you into your first dungeon aimlessly at a snail’s pace. Cards’ artwork could have used more work for price… We’re playing on an iPhone 6 plus… Yes font STILL looks small. Lol.

The newest update fixed the flood problem, but now it occasionally displays an empty level, bringing the game to a halt after hours of progress. Cool idea, but surely wish they’d fix the bugs.

We cannot even get through the first level without the game crashing. We’ve tried a few times, and it crashes at slightly different points each time. It looks like it could be interesting, but we’ll never know.

To be fair we bought this app in hopes to emulate the computer game Card Hunter, so this review is heavily biased. Card dungeon is an interesting dungeon crawler with several visual impairments that repel us from the game. The art style is very underwhelming, even for an iOS game. We understand they are trying to achieve a specific style, but at some times some of the cards just look like something pulled directly from Microsoft paint, with no shading or details whatsoever. The font is another problem, as (on the iPhone 5s) the numerals indicating your health and mana on your character are very small and difficult to read. They tried to adopt a zoom in system for cards such as Hearthstone uses, but there are so many cards it becomes a pain to zoom in every time you need to check the effects of attacks. The game throws you into the first dungeon without explanation. This may be to emulate the games of old, but it’s frustrating as the game has many small mechanics, such as being able to move two tiles only after all monsters are killed in the room, that you must figure out for yourself. It also never explained the mana system, so we spent some time trying to figure out why we couldn’t use any attack. On a different note, the game uses all "spell" cards, meaning every attack or spell you use costs mana. This entails that if you run out of mana and don’t have a mana regeneration spell, you can’t use attacks at all. While this is easy to avoid, the lack of explanation of the mana systems may leave beginners having us to restart the game. This is a good structure for a game, but we would advise avoiding purchase until the developers work on the aforementioned issues.

This is a lot. Ike ‘Card Hunter’ that is played over the Internet but this version is two simplistic. Here you only get three abilities which is too stifling. Those abilities wear out and if you’re unlucky enough to not get a replacement offensive ability then you’re done for. This game needs a lot of work to be fun.

This game is cool in theory. The font in the cards is much too small, and there’s far too much going on on-screen to play on an iPhone/iPod. It’s also very confusing the first few plays, due to a lack of any sort of tutorial (there may be one, but the text was indecipherable because of how small it was). We honestly wish we could have a refund. We wanted to like this game, but we really don’t.

Just bought. We can move 1-2 tiles, opened a chest. Then crash out of game. Reload. Move 1. Crash out. Reload. Move 1. Crash out. Reload. Tap inventory. Crash out. Get the point? We buy few games for IOS, this is why.

Just payed for this app and It has crashed twice, both times after selecting level. Fix it or refund our money, please and thanks.

It has potential. If only the game would play for more than 3 seconds before crashing. If it’s not fixed soon we’ll be wanting to a refund.

At first this game had crashing problems and moving around took too long and if you went away for too long you had to redo the level. THIS IS NOW ALL FIXED! Respect to the tireless developers who are listening to their users. Recommended buy.

Card Dungeon is a great turn-based rogue-like. What we like the most: 1. The fun, challenging gameplay 2. The ad-free and IAP-free nature of the game 3. The well-done retro look and feel our only complaints: 1. One can unlock every trait in a relatively short amount of time, and not all of the traits feel like exciting or interesting choices (though most do). 2. The game does crash occasionally. But now it saves your progress, your collection and wear AND your place in the dungeon, making it very easy to start it up again and continue with no problem. Play this game if: you love oldschool games you like card or board games you enjoy rpg dungeon crawlers You might not enjoy this game if: you dislike the oldschool look you dislike turn-based games a relatively infrequent and non-game-changing crash upsets you Bonus point for Card Dungeon: It runs fine on our iPhone 4.

This game lags on the iPhone 4s and iPad 2. The lags are so bad that the game will crash in less than 5 minutes. It doesn’t save your progress either. We usually can’t get past the first room on either device. —-update—— Ok now that we upgraded to an iPhone 6 plus it plays great. Its actually pretty good game. We still can’t find a way to save progress and we’re not lucky enough to find the store on level 3. We want the store to pop up right next to us when the 3rd level spawns. It would make the game awesome. We’re adding a star and will give 5 stars when we see a way to save the game and buy things from the store easier.

We’re really trying to like this game, but we just feel the deck is stacked against the player from the start. Which is a pity, because we see so much potential in this being an awesome game with tremendous replay value. No tutorial, no default basic weapon (and no way to deliver a basic blow to enemies when attack cards wear out mid-battle), no default basic defensive armor and no reasonable opportunity "health up" before being dumped into the middle of a room full of enemies after defeating an end-level boss. The last one refers to how the entire dungeon quickly turns to lava once a boss is defeated. You’re forced to jump to the next level or die. The cards themselves seem to wear out equally, regardless of the class (poor, common, fine, etc.). As the player gets attacked, it often happens too quickly by many enemies to be able to tell which enemy is attacking and what is being used against you (which prevents the player from initiating an appropriate defense). This isn’t a looting game per se. Yes, there is loot, but once you find something of value, you either have to accept the item now or discard it and lose it forever; Be it an attack card, a health potion, mana or equipment. Perhaps that’s the intention (to make instant choices), but there really needs to be some sort of inventory system for basic survival needs (health/mana) to give the player a fighting chance. The game graphics are fun and pleasing to the eye, and the music is appropriate. But the ratio of cards wearing out to the amount of enemies to battle, especially early in the game, feels like this game’s logistics need to be reevaluated and majorly tweaked. As we said, we’re really trying to like this game, but first we need to enjoy it, and in absence of that, we can’t at this time recommend it to others.
