We were happy with the previous version but the latest update seems to have improved performance as well as visuals. Im particularly fond of the new running commentary that was added.

We have four different chess boards we enjoy, but Mastersoft Pro is without doubt our favorite.
The rated games are good but some of the solutions to the mating puzzles seem to be broken, they don't always work even if you give the correct solution.
1st time using the pro version and we're sure it will help us improve our skill level.
We're not much of a chess player. Level one is easy to beat but level 2 we can't win so a little more nuance on the levels would b welcome.
We appreciate the thought and design incorporated and the ability to have this gamne teach a strategy. We enjoy playing it and that is the ultimate goal of a good game.

Would have given 5 stars but the learning mode doesnt actually teach you anything it just suggest moves to make and for somebody who last played in 5th grade (14 years) that was the hugest selling point and it kinda let us down but its a cool game though for sure just wish the training mode actually "trained".
This app is great for learning to play chess. So many different levels, and so many different ways to learn.
BUY THIS GAME! This game is extremely well-crafted with a mind-boggling number of options for the appearance of the pieces, the board, and the complexity (levels) of play, including a training mode. The game play is excellent. The latest update allows resizing the board for larger screens (Macbooks, etc.). Best of all, perhaps, is that this is a developer who actually listens and responds to user input, which is much appreciated.
Teaching function is very good.
Now the app is very slow to open on our Mac. It won't open on our Mac bbok pro. Not a good upgrade in our opinion.
The only thiing we dislike is the inability to make the board larger. It will not expand and is too small.
We are using our mac computer right now and we really need for this game to be FULL SCREEN but there is no way cuz of fade button that was for full screen which is green button on upper left. Please fix so we can use it for full screen… Rght now it is just small/med size, not full at all! We do love this chess very much and so glad to have it back.
We have played this game on our iPhone for a while. We do like it very much. For MacOS we recommend to fix the font for "TAKE BACK", "FLIP", etc… It does not aligned will on the screen. Keep the great work up.

Great app with lots of learning modes. We like that it has an iphone and ipad version too. We purchased it because it is the only one with a Mac app, but the Mac app really needs a full screen mode. Then it would be 5-stars.
Good 3D chess set but needs to be able to mazimize view to a full screen.
We really want to like this game and give it a higher rating, but the game's positive aspects are plagued by two annoying issues with the game window: 1) On our Macbook Pro with latest OS-X, the window is dark. Even with the theme turned to the highest setting and our screen at brightest, it looks like we're playing by candlelight. 2) The window is relatively small and cannot be resized–nothing like the App store image of the game on a iMac monitor. What the heck, people.
It would be great in the training mode if there was a voice explaining why it wants us to make one move or another.
Not sure why the developers forgot to give us full screen feature. As a result, it is so tiny it's very hard to see the board on a large screen. Even on our MacBook Air the game only takes up a quarter of the screen. This is a simple UI fix, which would make the game that much more enjoyable.
We just bought this app for our MAC. Not only did our entire remaining gift card amount get expended (almost twice what this app was priced at…. But we cannot open it – it keeps crashing.
We personally love this game there is a training mode and you get to play on any level you want! If we where you we would buy this game it could really improve your playing.
We are a novice/ beginner but we are blown away by the ability to download all of the past and present grandmasters games back to the early 1800s It is possible to control in real time the moves. Too many additional features to discuss.

We rarely play chess. We know some beginner strategies like attacking the middle. But we just played our first game in the app under the watchful eye of the training mode. We were warned four different times that the coach doesnt recommend that move. Every single time was a simple unforced error that would have lost our piece with no gain. Near the end of the game, the coach was silent. Undo a couple of times gave the same help the coach gave earlier to save our pieces. The end result was we won the game and felt like we earned it. Without the help we would have lost a lot of pieces and likely the game. Now we are motivated to play some more and improve our game.
We love playing or studying our moves in coach mode. We enjoy being able to fine tune the graphics of the board to suit our vision. Its been a joy to use this app. Thank you to all those that helped put this app together and bring it to fruition. With the help of this great app and the time we put into practicing in the coach mode our pattern recognition and overall play has improved.
