It was challenging, even the Kid difficulty will beat you if you're not careful.
We dont even know how to play but we still enjoy it. Games like these let us learn games like chess, checkers, go, Shogi, and xiangqi.
The difficulty must be progressing from 1 to 100 otherwise beginners will leave the app soon.
No ads ,its hard but interesting.

You can choose to use entirely symbols or entirely hanzi, or you can even select to replace a certain number of pieces with hanzi so that you can slowly get used to them.
Give it a preview of opponents possibles as a settings option. Were about to merge into the machine, for crissake.
Ads are very annoying between each game. The easy computer player is too strong for true beginners. The best scenario would be to set up an online version where the rating system improves or lowers your score and you play opponents with similar skill levels.
Bad algorithm. AI keep on repeating it moves indefinitely. You need to fix this bugs.
We're so glad you have English pieces which gives us a chance to learn the game before jumping into the Chinese version.

Very solid (Chinese Chess) app. Its has everything you really need, which is great. Plus its free, which is the cherry on top. The ads arent super annoying but Id definitely pay to get rid of the ads. We dont see an option for that, hopefully theyll add it. Overall, we highly recommend.

Has all the features you need to play normally.
We just started playing Xiang Qi after our grandpa teaches us the basics and the game is really fun and their are no glitches or any problems except that even the kid that is the easiest bot is still too hard to beat for beginners like us. Though this is still a great app and we hope we could soon beat the bot but we wish there was an bot before the kid.
Its SO much better than other apps. We wish we could pay money to unlock no-ads. Great Job.
After every single training round, you have to watch the same stupid ad about floor and decor. Also kinda slow, maybe that's just our old phone.
Its alright, but the ads are annoying and difficult to close out of.

We are a beginner and learned how to play xiangqi with this game.
This is probably the best Chinese chess app o found in the Apple App Store. It has excellent options for learning the rules and for memorizing the chinese pieces symbols. We are very familiar with them but we see that if anyone needs to learn this app has the best feature called hanzi. It lets you make all or only some pieces have a graphic that is independent of languages (picture instead of chinese symbol). You can also set it so only some symbols are visible and some in chinese. It has an option to save the record of the games you played and lots of puzzles which are essential for anybody who wants to get better at Chinese chess. Drawbacks are that there is no mode to analyze game by computer and that there are no more settings for difficulty. They show the break up of difficulty lol child pretty girl old man, but it does not objectively say anything about how difficult or easy it is. As everybody knows there are too few Chinese Chess (XiangQi) apps that are actually good. Most of them have the same graphics and sound copy and pasted and no options. There are also a few that are only in Chinese.
Only thing missing is the ability to play with your friends from afar.
