Citizen of Rome – Dynasty Ascendant is a family/Dynasty life sim set in the Roman Republic.
You get to see how life was in the Ancient Republic, participate in their various customs, festivals and Ludi / sporting competitions, while raising a family and moving up in the social and economic hierarchy in the Republic.
You can educate your children, marry them off, sponsor their elections and much more. You’ll take over as one of your children once your character dies, and live through the generations.
The game is open-ended without a set endgame just like in real life, but a grand goal for any ambitious Roman family was to land a Consulship of the republic. This could be your goal in the game as well, climbing the Cursus Honorum and becoming a "New Man" – "Novus Homo"
WARNING: The game just like fate will beat you down from time to time and you might find all that you worked for being taken away from you in an instant, but the way things are set up you’ll almost certainly end up growing wealthy and reach the Senatorial class at some point despite various setbacks. There is no game-over and life goes on no matter what

Think something has gone wrong recently with Horsemaster status? It looks like the optimal investment when achieved with 2X+, but keeps coming out negative if you sell and invest in horses over other things. Anyways, really do love the game and all of the continued work!
Such an amazing idea and game!! We have a ton of freedom!! The only things that we would point out, Is we would like to form our own armies under our familys name, do more interactions with our characters, like sleep with other demon have multiple wives, go to war against other familys for power, throne struggles, addd some fun into it.
BRO CAN YALL FIX THE LATE GAME ISSUE WHERE THE SCREEN GOES BLACK LIKE EVERY TWO OR THREE MONTHS IVE SEEN OTHER PLAYERS TRYING TO COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS TOO JUST FIX IT.
Love the app but after the latest update it keeps crashing and most recently just lost our 100+ generation run too mad to keep playing. Might come back after its fixed.
Our very first character had a son and a daughter. Even though the son was our heir, we favored his sister. We even educated her instead of her brother. Unfortunately when our first character died in battle, the heir took over and the sister disappeared from our family view, we couldnt find her and got very sad. She had just started her apprenticeship! We considered quitting the game but we were having fun so we didnt. Two generations later, we finally played around and checked our first characters family tree and there she was! She was long dead but in her long life she managed to get married, find a good job and had living two sons with their own families. We were really happy because we thought she had just disappeared into the void. If you enjoy character building youll like this game but be careful because if youre anything like us you might get really attached.
We love playing this game, we think they could put some more scenarios into the game to change things up and put more lore in there and make it able to travel to different areas to do things. There’s a lot of potential.
We like the game but we feel its not a 5 star only because we dont get real custom and get to really make our selves, like we should be able to make our stats really high and our looks better and there be some where we can have a more fun sports career and war side of things if we pick that or get picked for it.
For whatever reason, the game doesnt fit on a mobile screen. Icons are too large, text boxes dont stretch nicely. Its very ugly. And as for gameplay, we maybe had some fun with our first family but thats it. Theres literally nothing to do in the game but buy property, attend festivals, and hopefully not go broke. Id save $10, its just not worth that kind of price. Maybe if they added literally anything else to the game, but its just pressing buttons and hope you dont go into debt and die.
We used to really love this game. We spent hours playing it and getting our families to the highest rankings. We like the new updates but unfortunately they have made things very buggy. You can hardly get through a full year now without your entire screen flashing white and resetting back to the last month. Its not major but it is annoying enough that we just cant play it like we used to anymore.
Stopped gaining status after came back from war for some reason.
Fun game however there is an issue with the game saving function. We played it last night and saved our most recent game, when k opened the app today all our saves were gone. The only save was the auto save from a few months ago.
Now everytime we close the app it erases our progress.
Maybe put girls as the main character/playable character?
We love playing this game, its super addicting. The only thing that is infuriating is when you get conscripted, youre either forced to sell unmanageable properties and then your wrath is stolen (sometimes net wealth is cut by as much as 75%), or your properties just die from mismanagement, so in any case youre screwed if youre conscripted. We think this is an infuriating mechanic.
Been playing this game for a while now and just finished the most successful run, but the game no longer saves. There isnt an option to manually save either. Everytine we boot up the game we start as a child again. Doesnt matter how many generations pass, if we reboot the game Im back to playing the child. Really need manual saving here guys.
We really enjoyed this game and was able to come back to it whenever. It keeps up with new challenges with each generation and is overall really interesting.
We LOVE this game and have been playing for months now. Its borderline addicting. However, recently the games been getting stuck at certain points, and any progress we make wont be saved after we exit out. The only way to fix it is to reset everything. Like we said, we’ve been playing for months, and we never had this problem before, so we think it may just be a bug with the latest update. Everything else is golden!
We love this game! Its a great concept and really makes time fly by. Our only complaint is the further you get into the game the more laggy it gets.. Super frustrating we hope they fix it.
We love the concept behind this app (classics nerd). The diversity of traits one can develop in the game is great too! Our only complaint is that our game now wont save whatever progress we make now, Im stuck on the same person and year. The family trees could be a little bit more clear and the assignment of traits and new events need to be even across all possibilities. Despite this we still thoroughly enjoy the game, we just wish these issues were solved. Ill change our star rating after its been fixed.
So, to get ahead in this game you have to be kinda the worst human on the planet. 1) The market is where youll make all your money. Never miss a chance to go. 2) Dont bother educating your girls. (This is where the worst human starts…) its a waste of money because youre just going to marry them off. 3) The fact that theres no family planning means a lot of this game is RNG. Youre gonna find yourself hoping you dont have boys, and if you get too many youll be hoping they die. Because when you die, your assets are split evenly against the heirs. (When the other family line dies out, you do get an inheritance which can help!) 4) we still havent managed to get to the last level of education. Its just far too expensive for anyone to really get to by play style. You have to have luck and RNG into a bunch of good market opportunities and have few heirs. We think it would be more fun if you could either kill your kids or give them up for adoption, or the RNG on the market made it a little easier to get to the senator part of the game. Its just too expensive to do any other way. We’ve wasted about 20 hours on this game and havent gotten bored which is cool. And our Latin is coming back.
Excellent game for all the history fanatics. CK2 fans will also enjoy the dynasty aspect of this fun, entertaining game. Great for keeping you busy and also very informative on the inner workings of the everyday Roman citizen. A little pricey but overall Id recommend!
Its a very interesting premise for a game but not worth the money we paid. This seems more like a $2-4 game.
This game is fun and educational! We spent hours upon hours playing it so far.
The game is incredibleall around perfect for its many activities, play styles, as well as outcomes. Though it is missing one thing: War. The ability to go to war throughout Rome, kingdoms, fledgling empires, and more is what this game needs!! To be able to take sides for war, experience battle, and sail to distant lands is what would tie this game together. We sincerely hope this will be in the games forceable future!
We’ve enjoyed the game overall, but the menus are extremely frustrating. We wanted to quit our job as a painter to pursue a different one, but am unable to since the menu that pops up covers the icon we need to click to quit the job.
The cards that make up the dialogue in the game are far too big and make playing the game quite cumbersome. We don’t think the text needs to be that large and it would be better if we could read and see all the options without having to scroll. Some other UI features to make the game more easy to play is splitting up the properties into their respective categories (eg, animals, farms, etc) to eliminate even more scrolling. You could create a separate tab for education and marriage as we often find myself forgetting to do those options when we put them aside for later like when we lack the money to fund them right at that moment and we wanna do it later. Some filtering options for the main screen would also be epic, so that we can quickly see which person has the best or worst of whatever characteristic or trait you wanna see. But again, the size of cards is just annoying but the gameplay and art is otherwise fantastic.
You cant even finish the tutorial because itll clip before you can scroll to the bottom to click Next. Its available on the PC for the same price; this is just a poor port. An interesting idea, just needs a heckuva lot more polish. Theres way too many options to choose from at firstId have liked to unlock options like different land types more slowly. Will still consider playing if navigation and tutorial are improved.
To us its kinda like CK2 with the role playing, you just dont control armies. Its fun and could become something great.

Great game. Time consuming though, but once you get the hang of the game its a blast, and the developers are still coming out with new updates so we give this 5 stars easily.
This game is clearly not ready to be released on phones. Its nearly unplayable on an iPhone 10, the game itself is awkward to play, and switching between screens is difficult inside the app. Regret those five bucks wasted. Major suggestions would be optimizing the UI, changing the speed the game ticks at, managing pop ups better, and fixing the weird lag you sometimes get.
We absolutely love this game. We have it on our phone and we liked it so much we bought it for the iPad as well. It’s super fun to get into and educational in its own regard. We’ve learned a lot about Roman culture and festivals. It’s so fun to see our family grow and see them climb the social ladder. With no end game, it makes it something you can just keep playing at for ages. It is a little hard (I ended up ruining our family) in the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, it’s challenging enough to not be impossible but not easy enough to be boring. We dig this so much! The only note we would have is maybe having some way to access your extended family tree? But that’s just extra fluff! We love it and recommend it highly! Graphics are cute and lovely, it’s easy to use, and just so fun! Price is so worth it!
