Hear from the Players – Crash Dive 2 Reviews

Find out what gamers are saying about Crash Dive 2:

We never write reviews but we simply am impressed with is submarine game. We’ve always liked submarine games even dating back to the Commodore 64 years, Silent Service. We’ve loved starting at the EASY level to hone our skills. We look ahead to the various levels of play and we see it looks looks nearly infinite. At first we were disappointed because there are no decoys but we’ve learned to use the thermal layer to hide and it actually seems more realistic. We play this on an IPad and have watched for years to find a good submarine game. This one is great.

Keep returning to this game time and again. Campaign is our go to. Finished campaign on Medium difficulty, which is pretty tough. Bought the Aleutians addition. Very nice, but Please give us the Atlantic u-boat campaign. Pretty please? Make it in-game purchase. $10, $15, maybe even $20. Or charge by campaign? 1939, 1940, 1941, 1942, etc? $5 each? Im a buyer and Im betting a lot more are.

A U- Boat version is needed. The Aleutian campaign is a nice addition. This is an excellent game and very challenging. Nice to see new Japanese escorts being added.

This is an awesome sub sim thats tons of fun. Some ideas for features to add: 1. Add submarine tenders: It would be cool to be able to rendezvous with a submarine tender in order to repair, refuel and reload the sub. Submarine tenders such as USS Bushnell operated in the pacific during WWII to support US submarines. 2. Friendly ports: It would be nice to be able to start a mission departing a friendly port. This is a cool feature currently available in another sub sim You could also enter a friendly report and dock in order to repair, refuel and reload the sub. Thanks this superb sub sim. Keep up the great work!

As mobile WW2 sub simulators go, this is by far the best that we’ve played. The only extra money that you can spend is for an additional set of maps (Aleutian Islands) for $5, which is quite reasonable, especially when compared with the free to play, but pay to win games out there. There are four difficulty levels, Easy, Medium, Hard, and Sim. The first two make it almost impossible to lose your boat, so enjoy the deck gun and AA play. We dont recommend looking for a surface battle at the higher difficulty settings. Our only qualm is the lack of an external camera. Sometimes you just want to see your boat.

Very best game of submarine and really this game is realistic and best for playing fans u-boot old submarines you can get infinite money in custom mode.

If you like tactical simulations games, this is the one. Its as close to the desktop game Silent Service as you can get on a iPad. Great game.

Exactly what you would want out of a game like this!

Very nice!! We loved Crash Dive, this is a bit more complex and as a result, more fun.

Many skill levels to play, not likely to outgrow this game. The sub-chasers and destroyers are terrifying at the higher levels.

As we can see it if we use our submarine to cause other ships to collide there should be damage to those other ships including total destruction/sinking. The torpedo location and the deck gun are not located well on The screen. Lastly a submarine that is submerged at 200 feet does not have to fear a torpedo from another ship. They were only for surface targets only not subsurface. One last thing. There should be a limit to the amount of deaths charging that a destroyer or a destroyer escort can deliver. Because eventually they would run out of depth charges. Constantly having a never ending supply of depth charges kind of makes the game a four-star.

We liked Crash Dive we a lot and this sequel is even better. Lots of details and great visuals. Highly recommended. It has crashed on us a few times but we have an older operating system on our old iPad Air, not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Just about as good as silent service Better in some ways.

This is probably one of our if not the best games we have played though we do have some suggestions More campaign missions in different parts of the Pacific theater Having Allies ships in the area for some missions Thats it for now.

Crash Dive was great. Crash Dive 2 is even greater! So, if you liked the first one and just want more, then get this one! Theres so much more!! You will not be disappointed. We hope they are working on Crash Dive 3, because we never want this series to end. We just started the campaign game. Very addicting, in a very good way. This is a quality product, worth every penny, and much better than the shovelware thats so common these days. Highly recommend!

This reminds us of the game Silent Service back in the day. Great game and worth every penny. We’ve played it over the course of several years. Amazing job with the updates, dev. Suggestion to dev: It would be really cool if you did some thing in the Atlantic theater or Mediterranean.

Crew: efficiency by rank/rate x skill point Ability to spend funds to upgrade/promote Ability to send crew ashore Ability to pillage fuel Free moving camera. Please.

The game itself is fantastic, with the perfect mix of arcade and sim all in one package. An advanced, easy to use built in modding system makes the game fully customizable to your liking. If you want you sub to go 500 knots, you can mod it to do so. Everything from in game weather to how destroying an enemy seaplane base will affect aerial patrols is moddable. Not to mention the developer () listens to and even asks for suggestions and ideas for the game, and often actually implements them. Our only complaint is that we have still not received cupholders.

The game play keeps us coming back for more runs great even on our iPad, love the action its like really being in the sub Enemy AI is good, A wish list is decoy launcher Awesome game 4.9 outa 5.

A lot of fun and very addictive. The game could use a few more scenarios as many of the side missions are quite similar.

There is no other simulator we know can go up against this one this game is the bomb its really looks real especially the water scene.

This is the best iPad game we have ever seen. Better than WOTB: Blitz, for sure. Thank you developers, finally, a simulation that matters and we will remember 10 years from now. Bravo guys!

New missions would be nice….

Our grandfather was the Captain of a WWII sub. We used to play the first version together before he passed and this is seriously about the only game we play on a phone, we love it. Unfortunately, recently work upgraded us to an iPhone 14 Pro, and this week we upgraded our personal device to an iPhone 14 Pro Max, and on both the controls are an overlapping mess. Thinking it was an artifiact of a restoration from a much older device, we deleted and reinstalled but same outcome. Would really love to play again, but with the controls stacked on top of each other its impossible.

We’ve enjoyed just about every WW2 subsim going back to Sid Meiers Silent Service. All of them are a compromise between playability and historical simulation. This game works well, has a good interface, and makes acceptable compromises to keep the tactical calculations from being overwhelming. But there are some poor choices with historical accuracy. To our knowledge the IJN destroyers never had an antisub torpedo to fire at allied subs. We faced 29 in the first mission alone. Second, night air attacks should be a rare occurence, but not in our game experience. These feel like adjustments designed to vary the challenge and artificially increase tension. If you are looking for a video game, fine. But Im with those who come to a WW2 subsim with a fair bit of historical knowledge. Im expecting to implement tactics and strategies we have read about. Each step away from historical grounding diminishes our experience rather than enhancing it. We appreciate that this is not a freemium game. We dont at all regret the $10 spent, but it was not quite the game we were hoping for.

One big change could be the option to use differently subs like the Balao or Tambor, among others, and instead of ships appearing instantly when they are in view range, it would be cool if they fade in to or out of sight! And more enemy ships like the Mutsuki class DE and Fubuki class DD, and a external camera would be nice as well as we saw many people put that in the reviews And this is more of a preference, but the Moyko and Kaga have the same model and Akagi and Takao class CV sand CA. (Moyko same as Takao and Kaga the same as akagi) Overall a great game and its very fun!

IF you been looking for a sub sim like we have, this is IT. We’ve had the first one for a long time and liked IT, but wished for more. This is more Life like. Even the stars at night , we found the big dipper. We Love IT. We were wondering, Why was the counter defence Not put in. Its ON the first game. Or is IT An UP grade. But this is a great game!

Add ability to enter data into a real TDC and you will hit it out of the park!

Best sub game on mobile and we love your dedication to it with frequent updates and support. We also love the ability to make modifications. One aspect we would like to see added is a difference between surface visibility range and under water sonar range. Ideally the sub should be able to hear ships at a much greater range than they can be seen. Thanks again for offering such a satisfying sub simulation.

If theres a crash dive 3 tell us when its made itll probably be even more improved.

Very good game but it could use some of Crash Dive 1 features. Simply adding resupply points would be great. Giving the player the option of selecting the location of the resupply points would take this to a whole new level. Adding decoys would also be beneficial as would adding one more level of time compression. We can collectively nitpick the game but our opinion is these three features would greatly improve the game. One frustration is the terrible accuracy of the deck gun and torpedoes. As close as a couple hundred yards, the gun hit/miss percentage is terrible. Torpedo accuracy isnt much better.

Only way to make CD2 more Fun/&Playable is ti use nore like CDOne ! Fan of original Crash Dive, But cannot see where our ship is. Colors are better in original and ships easier to find on radar. We return to original more Fun Nd easier to use. Enemy also difficult to see. Ai love original Crash Dive and love the new graphic. Also would like a training level just to play and get used to new application. Old US Navy vet myself. Love to play for hours. We are patient and will stick around. Mahalo InitiL contacts too hard to find and enemy fleet oversized.

This one has too much of a learning curve in comparison to the first one. Nothing wrong with that, but if you want a shorter game that you can play on a quick 15 minute break then Id go with that one. We got halfway through the tutorial on this one when our eyes glazed over and we started drooling. Also, you get to be the bad guy in the original game.

Improved in to trash. Was good. Next time send the cops to get us.

We played the first crash dive and this is a good follow up. But what if you made a new one with a modern 1990s thing like hunting the red October (not the video game like the movie)

Great graphics. A lot better than the original Crash Dive. Would be amazing if the final mission was to witnesss and confirm the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Maybe on a future update.

Countermeasures are important, so far no enemy submarines either, would like real world engagements.

As a fan of the original Crash Dive we think that Crash Dive 2 has knocked it out of the park. The attention to detail exceeds expectations and gives many hours of fun.

The game is challenging and varied to sustain interest and entertainment for some time. Tutorial is thorough while not tedious. Excellent simulation.

Crash Dive is a fun enough submarine app but it had it’s limitations and we were waiting for an update that never seemed to come. Now, we know why; the developer was working on this sequel. And what a sequel it is! Crash Dive 2 goes more in-depth (no pun intended) into the decisions that need to be made to successfully patrol unfriendly waters in a WWII era submarine. We wish we had known about this sequel earlier.

First rate WWII sub sim, great sub game. Im an old fan of Silent Service, and this feels just like that ole fave. The fidelity of detail is truly amazing and the ability to mod everything is an excellent touch. The only thing that seems to be lacking is the ability to do an emergency blow and the ability to jettison debris as a decoy. In Silent Service you could only do those once per battle encounter. Maybe the dev could add it in a future update. Side missions to rescue pilots and others was a nice touch too. Much better than the first Crash Dive, this is an excellent update. Best WWII sub action on mobile devices. OUTSTANDING!

Superb graphicschallenging scenarios with multiple levels of difficulty. Excellent play on an iPad!

Thus game reminds us a bunch of the old silent hunter games on Sega/Nintendo. Good for a quick dive into old memories. Just needs a graphics and sound upgrade to increase immersion.

If you are a fan of submarines, you will love this game. Its the best sub game we’ve ever played, and that includes the PC game Silent Service series. Minor glitches do not impede the gameplay. Rare times require you to log out and back in (only when the targeting reticle doesnt appear) but other than that the game really draws you in. Your crew matters! They level up as the campaign goes on, so losing a level 5 crew hurts! But, being safe helps that. Risk vs. Reward! If you even somewhat like submarine sims, youre going to enjoy playing this game.

We wish they would add two things 1) add a x64 time accelerator 2) remove the loud taps bugle sound effect when a crew member dies. It is too loud and ruins the immersion.

Its a fun game, great graphics. He only glitch we’ve found is the aircraft guns freeze during the simulation (you have to save and quit, then start over).

We like this game well enough but it was a bit tricky for us to learn. Once you get the hang of it its pretty fun. However, the antiaircraft gun is somewhat ineffective on the the planes because no matter how much you blast the planes, the planes dont seem to be effected until they are right on top of you. By then, your sub is pretty well shot up and damaged. But is is still really fun and we love blasting the smaller ships with it. Oh, lately the graphics are chunky looking when we shoot the gun. That is, you dont see the rounds so much because when you shoot, little squares around the gun break up. Still a good game and we enjoy it.

Inexpensive game to pass the time. Challenging too.
