About Cryptograms:
A cryptogram is an encoded statement that requires a degree of strategy to decode. The cryptograms found in this puzzle game use a 1-to-1 substitution cipher. For example all of the letter N’s in a cryptogram might stand for the letter B in the decoded statement. Aside from letters nothing else in the statement has been changed, e.g. spacing and punctuation. In the case of this puzzle game all statements are quotes from relatively famous to very famous individuals. Using your knowledge of the English language and grammar, see if you can decode the quote!
Cryptograms based on quotes are also commonly called cryptoquotes. The cryptoquotes found in this puzzle game are a mix of modern and historical quotes.

We have always enjoyed solving the daily cryptogram in our local paper. Playing this version highlights all the letters through the puzzle making it easier to see patterns. Not too many ads.

We just learned to decode cryptograms but the NYT only has two each week. Live being able to do these any time.
We’ve been playing various cryptogram puzzles to help us unwind from the stress of the day. Just tried this one tonight and its user interface is far superior to others we’ve tried and the ads are fairly minimal compared to others.
1st, to us after years of playing this app, there are less ads than most of the other cryptogram games, Usually after finishing a puzzle. Sometimes it may have a long ad, so we close out the app then re-open it and the next ad is short again. We think it automatically takes advantage if you keep waiting thru the long ads. As soon as we realize its a long ad, we close the app and reopen it, then they are short again. Sometimes when Im playing this game it will give 2 puzzles before an ad shows up. It looks like Im newer to this app, but Im not. We just added it to another phone. We have enjoyed this app for a quite a few years and love it. Some of the messages when solved are somewhat profound. This app never ends, we have had a few repeats, but it continues with almost all new puzzles. We have tried the other cryptogram apps and they have constant ads and it doesnt take us long to get thru all the puzzles they have. We suggest this app if you like these types of puzzles. We dont have glitches or any problems for that matter, with this app. It does not freeze, nothing, just hours of enjoyment.

We’ve loved solving cryptograms since we were a kid, and these are great fun. Nice choice of quotes and authors. Our only complaint is that Id like the authors name to part of the puzzle rather than a given.
We’ve only played five games so far and have completed most without clues, edits or checks and its so challenging. We like all of the featuresIm not sure if one of them keeps track of number of wins, but that certainly would be a great feature. And so far, we havent seen any misspellings, which is a major reason we deleted our last cryptogram app. Keep up the great work!

We have been using Cryptograms for a few years now, and we absolutely love it. We can make it hard or we can make it easy. We usually try to make it hard because its good for us. We go back almost every day to do a few quotes… For a little over a year now. Our great fear is running out of quotes!
This is a very fun game, with a great mix of hard and easy puzzles. We love the fact that these are real quotes from real people and not silly, cartoonish quips. But we dont always know who the authors are or, even if we do, when or where the quote came from. We would love to have a very brief description of the author, a date (either when the quote was made or the authors DOB-DOD). It would also be great to have a reference to where or why they said it or if it was from a publication of theirs. We realize that this would be a lot of work to add, but it would make the experience so much more enriching, interesting and informative.
Its simple interface and short ads make this one of our favorite games. It is rare to find a game without the same annoying advertisements forcing you to watch a full minute of an imaginary finger doing stupid mistakes that other games feature. The more we play it, the more we love it. It is a joy for all puzzle lovers.
Nice to spend a few minutes slowing down with (usually) thoughtful quotes. The process is easy enough to be relaxing, yet provides enough challenge to hold interest.
Just finished solving our 500th consecutive Cryptogram. It is so much more fun to solve these puzzles electronically without having to write in the clue in a newspaper. It is quick and easy because your entry letter populates instantly across to whole puzzle. We wish that we could subscribe to Cryptograms so that we could skip the ads after each puzzle.

We have been playing this game for a few years now and we love it. Our only issue is that we wish there was an option to pay for an upgrade so we wouldnt have to wait on adds. Other than that, its a great and awesome game.

We absolutely love this game. We have actually played it for several years BUT The ads make us crazy. Some wont let you out of the ad and you have to exit the game and go back in. There needs to be a paid option to get rid of the ads.

We have been playing this game for a long time. Recently things changed. The puzzles are repetitive. Over the last 5 days we’ve had 3 different puzzles. AND, our best time, which was 39 seconds disappeared. Really, we were proud of that.

We dont really like how it autofills all the letters in when you put one – even if its wrong. Just throws us off.
Enjoying the game, the quotes and choice of difficulty are great, but ads are too long for games we couldnt be less interested in. We would not download anything from one of these ads, ever.
This is a cool challenge. We dont understand why some letters turn red and a couple of other things. Please add a little more explanation.
We love to do Cryptograms, and we like this app. However, the longer you have it, the more other games they push. You finish one puzzle, click new game and you get an ad for another game. After a while you get an ad after EVERY game, but you can click x and the ad goes away so you can play another game. BUT – eventually you cant get rid of the ad, and you cant play any longer at all. We deleted the app. Then we loaded it anew. Now its locked up in ad-land again! VERY FRUSTRATING! Update: This is now the third time we’ve had to delete the app because of the above problem. The unremovable game ad has been there for 3 days, so Im deleting and getting it again. Maybe we should give up and try a different app??? 4-16-24. Had to delete this for the above reason a few days ago. We miss it, so we loaded it again. Clicked the dont allow specific ads. Went on to play one game. After clicking new game, another game ad came up!!! Was no way to stop it and play Crypto. Deleted app AGAIN. Redownloaded app. Clicked allow specific ads. Went on to play game. It was the same game we had just played. Did it. Clicked new game. Same game popped up. No way to get rid of it – – GROUNDHOG DAY Anyone???? No one reads these reviews OR THEY’D FIX IT! We dont want to download a strange game every time we play this one!!!
