Community Insight:
Amazing game and its even better on the go! Hopefully baldurs gate 3 is the next one.
We love pushing the limits on these M series iPads. The only trouble is finding AAA titles that are this well integrated. It seems almost like Larian made this game just for the iPad even though we know thats not the case. Does it shock us that our favorite port is from Larian? Well it shouldnt.
Its high cost pales when faced with the sheer scale of content, incredible quality of design and high polish overall. You can easily spend hundreds, if not thousands of hours in this game. Consider supporting such an amazing game :).
Truly great game. Check it out, if you connect an Xbox or PlayStation controller the entire UI, and game mechanics changes to the look and feel of a console. We love the touch controls but the touch can be a little clunky at times, especially when deep in battle and it does what you didnt, frustrating we know, but we find it best using a controller. TRY IT, youll thank us later. No developer has ever crafted that much love into a game and continue to support it.
Because of how good this port is, even better graphics than the original PC version, we will always purchase everything this developer makes. They even included keyboard/mouse and controller support for this game, which is insane. 10000/5 stars.
Cant believe it took this long to actually TRY and play the game. We were too closed minded trying to rush the game. Its like a great book you love to read and youre participating. As of right now best game on iPad. Probably best on iOS.
Pretty greatbut if it could let user to change the graphic optionit must be more better.
Is it possible to add the arabic language.
This game by far has the best quality graphics on this type of platform. Divinity 2 has run flawlessly on our 2022 IPad Air 5th generation. This game is well worth the investment with no extra money grabs. We have played this from beginning to end without experiencing a single crash. Some have complained about excessive heat. We eliminated this problem by running our IPad Air directly on a high quality metal cooling pad. We can run the game as long as we like. The cooling pad dissipates heat so quickly its barely noticeable to the touch. We played this with & without a PS5 controller & both ways worked fine.
Really looking forward to playing this game more often. The actual touch controls work fine, but the in game cursor is not at all linked with the Magic Keyboard Trackpad. The game is functionally unusable with the Magic Keyboard.
Runs great, has controller support and real touchscreen controls, not a cheap on screen controller. This is the gold standard for porting a game to iPad.
- Upon downloading game, then launching game, following bug prompt appears > [textures_1] the internet connection appears to be offline. *our internet is fine – speeds: 300mb – 200mb 2. When we tap on arena, does not let us play, we receive the following message: please wait until the game has finished installing currently 0.00GB of 13.17GB (0.00 mb/sec) – remaining time is unknown we can play the normal game just fine at the moment, but arena is not downloading so we are not allowed to play it. This is coming across to us as if Larian server that has the download data for iPad is down? MY TECH SPECS & IOS Software: we are on latest iPad OS 17.4 we are running this game on our iPad mini 6th gen (2021 model) this game works on this iPad for we have played on here several years now. TROUBLESHOOTING we HAVE DONE: 1. Check WiFi (its working speeds: 300mb – 200mb ) 2. Reboot iPad 3. Uninstall & Reinstall game.
What an amazing game this is! Let us finish this review and get back to playing! Lol.
This is the best crpg game we played.
If you have played Baldurs Gate 3 and love it, you will love Divinity 2. This is the game that re-defined the turn-based genre. You will find many of the elements in BG3 here in D2. This is an amazing game. An even more amazing game to play on iPad. We have purchased this game on PS4, Switch and now our iPad Pro. By far our favorite way to play this game is on iPad. Turn-based RPGs were meant for tablets. Play this game.
Dont need to say much after the world wide success of Baldurs Gate 3, most gamers should know of it – same studio, amazing it runs so well on this thin slate, we cant think of another "mobile" game that compares on iOS.
This game is for people who like game plots.
Absolutely loving DOS2! Wonderful RPG that runs and looks amazing on 5th Gen Air.
Its a real game! Its a port but its a real game. Gives us hope that we will start getting more current titles in the App Store. Runs great on the m1 iPad.
This is a miracle port. But the battery drain and thermal problems are such a bummer. We wish we could return and purchase on our steam deck.
We hope you can port more 3A games on your iPad. We will buy them.
We can play more and more 3A games on iPad, thx Apple.
After we replaced the hard disk(from 64GB to 1TB) for our iPad Pro(2018), this game cannot start any more, we got a dialog your specific ipad model is not supported by divinity.
This game is awesome. It is a big battery draw but its by far the most complete recent rpg game on the iPad. Purchasing is a no brainer. Provides hundreds of hours of gameplay. 5 stars.
Great game. Played it for years on pc. How do we get multiplayer to connect, ipad version refuses to connect to anyone else either when we try to play with our niece or randos. Someone please help as we have found nothing online.
Think of this game as a grand open-ended story-puzzle. Its manificent! More please.
This is probably the most well done AAA port to iPad ever. Seamless save transfers to steam as well. More important than all that, the game itself is a masterpiece.
Best game ever made for iPad Pro 11 inch.
Isometric view with 360 degree turnaround is revolutionary for this platform. Honestly its made other games unplayable because its so good.
It's amazing that this game was ported over to iPad, and it's such a good storyline. But touch controls, unfortunately, are a bit clumsy. If you have on PC, plays smoother there.
Updated our star rating after newest update! Game runs once again! Thank you.
Constantly have issues with the training using touch. It wont register half the time same with battle.
We are really enjoying this game. But the colors of the grass and trees and terrain are showing as the 3D model without any color. How can this issue be solved? We are running the game on iPad Air 5 2022 M1 Chip.
When looting items from a container. Otherwise looks kinda cool we guess. Edit: found a fix. When using a container, dont loot items individually, use the loot all button at the top of the container. It doesnt crash when doing this.
Overall, we are genuinely enjoying the experience on the iPad! Came to this game after Baldurs gate 3. As someone who has no PC, but a Nintendo switch and an iPad, we chose to play the definitive version on this. Overall, they did a pretty good job with implementing it on a touchscreen device, however, there are a few issues and glitches along the way. Nothing game breaking, but does warrant a little bit less than five stars. Another issue we have come across is that this game takes up battery like no other. We can have the iPad charging, and it still takes more battery than it receives from the charge. The content of the game itself is brilliant. If you enjoy Baldurs gate 3 for its story, and dont mind a lack of cut scenes, this is the closest game to it.
This is a very fun game, its our first experience with it after playing baldurs gate 3 and wanting something similar to play on the go. We may actually prefer this game overall- the combat is more dynamic in our opinion, and the writing is a lot more humorous than BG3. We have since also bought this on steam to play on our Macbook Pro and have enjoyed the cross-save feature, although it can be a little unreliable. Unreliability is the theme of our complaints with this game on iPad. The touch controls could use a lot of work- double tapping and dragging and dropping are very important features that are VERY finnicky to activate if you dont press in precisely the right spot with only the very tip of your finger, and quickly. Even as a guitar player with nimble fingers and smaller hands we have a tough time consistently getting double tap to behave as expected. Apple Pencil doesnt work as expected, but that could help a lot if properly implemented. It feels like a huge missed opportunity that they didnt combine touch and keyboard controls for users of the keyboard folio or magic keyboard case or those kinds of things- that wouldve created by far the best way to play the game. As it is you have to choose either touch or mouse/keyboard controls, and the mouse/keyboard key bindings assume you have a full keyboard with number pad, which very few ipad keyboards do but its easy enough to do some simple rebindings. One more feature that would be greatly appreciated would be the ability to play fullscreen on external displays. As it currently works, you only see the same aspect ratio as the game on the ipad screen and cant expand it to fill the second screen, like some newer games such as the Resident Evil Village and 4 ports. PLEASE FIX THE TOUCH CONTROLS AND IT WOULD BE 5 STARS!!! The other things are more of a wishlist.
Fun game but its a constant battery drain. Battery drain is horrible.
At first we didnt really like it after a few hours of playing Im starting to enjoy it.but we didnt pay $25 for a game that crashes randomly like what!!!! Fix this we were about to win a 10 minute fight.
The great is a great experience. Love the story and different variations based on character. There are a few bugs when it comes to the iPad: occasionally touch becomes unresponsive for about 15 seconds, sometimes you hav to turn the camera angle to be able to highlight something, occasional lag. The one feature they really need to add is the ability to create custom characters from the start of the game by yourself, not relying on someone else to join your game. This is a feature that has been requested for years and they blatantly ignore it.
Great game, but controls arent well dialed in. We will frequently (more than 50% of the time) have to press a button numerous times to get it to respond, or do what we want. Proud of ourselves for not mashing our finger through the screen.
A masterpiece of a game, want to badly give it 5 stars, but for some strange reason dev provided partial apple pen support. (we use apple pencil 2nd gen) very odd decision. Ergonomically speaking, way more comfortable using apple pen. This game SCREAMS for apple pencil support, because of the tablet form factor and how in the game.. We tap things, to do things.. Clearly match made in heaven with apple pencil. Some of the benefits: – precise aiming when making selections – get to things quicker – less stress on joints, wrist when playing for hours – improves very relaxing segments (try playing outside by campfire – super fun, and relaxing if had apple pencil support) – huge quality of life overall improvements. THE APPLE PENCIL (2nd Gen) ISSUES: tapping on some elements with apple pencil works, but other elements it wont work, example: trying select conversation wont work, have to use our finger. Tap on the screen with apple pencil so character can move to said location it wont work, have to use finger. There are many more which are easy to recreate, just try playing with apple pencil and the issues will immediately become apparent Extremely hit & miss with apple pencil. Please dev fix this, this is a classic masterpiece, give it the apple pencil support it deserves.
Great game so far. Minus one star for lack of pen support. If we can use our fingers why cant we use the pen.
Thanks to Larian for fixing the newer iPad iOS 16 issues. The game is performing well now on our iPad Pro 11 M2. Feedback : It would be helpful to essentially create an ESC key by default for Magic Keyboard users. The upper right ` key seems perfect. Took about 20 mins to figure out how to assign it to bring up and dismiss the in-game menu.
While the game is awesome, using all the capabilities of our iPad Pro, the touch screen controls are really janky. Some things arent very intuitive, and you REALLY have to be careful of misclicks. Also drag and drop doesnt work very well. All in all Im hoping the awesome outweighs the frustrating once we get past the learning curve and get used to the controls. The major issue is that Aubrey, the equipment upgrade merchant, doesnt appear to be in the ios version, even though the stands and things where she would be are there, just no Aubrey. Without the ability to upgrade ideally specced equipment as you level up, it make equipment upgrades expensive and a crapshoot whether you will get what you need or have to choose between damage/protection or the bonuses that fit your build. We hope this gets fixed. Shes a key element to the game.
Great story and mechanics but using the inventory is a nightmare in the current release. Touch controls barely register or require incredibly fast double taps. We would wait for an update until it is fixed.
Using a 13 inch iPad Pro M4 on iPadOS 17.5.1. When we pair our Xbox controller to the iPad while it is connected to the Magic Keyboard, any time a key is pressed on the keyboard or if we interact with the trackpad all functionality of the controller is lost until we pull the iPad off the keyboard and re attach it.
Great game, runs smoothly and seems well optimized. Love and support the developer and strongly recommend the game. Having said that, something to note is that as of the writing of this review the M4 iPad Pro trackpad does not function properly or seems to be incompatible which was the main way we intended to play.
We understand that this is a full title that has been re-formatted for IPAD. The game itself runs smoothly however our IPAD PRO gets HOT when we run this game. Just about hot enough where we dont want to play it for fear of harming our device. We were super excited when we saw this game in the App Store as the idea of bringing one of our favorite RPGs on the go was exciting and we bought it without much thought. If Larian can make it so our device doesnt get so hot it would be a steal at the 24.99 price point its listed at.
Brand new M2 iPad Pro 12.9 1TB – Battery drops ~50% / hour. It would be nice if there were a few options to tame the graphics or kill effects for better battery life. We think at its current drain rate, it is possible to damage your iPad battery if you play a lot. Our iPad was also pretty darn hot after a short while. There are issues when using keyboard shortcuts to open menus. You'll lose mouse input. The only way we've figured how to get it back is to go out of the game to the iPad home screen then go back into game using the mouse. While we prefer to play games with a mouse and keyboard, we tried using just touch controls and they are honestly pretty bad. Its hard to select items (seems you can almost never tap what you are trying to). OK, all that bad stuff outta the way, we AM so glad they ported this game to iPad. While still rough around the edges, it does show other devs that newer iPads are pretty capable gaming devices (we mean, for something this portable its pretty cool). We will certainly update our review as updates improve things.
This is a fantastic RPG. But the touch controls are frustrating. We have to try repeatedly to perform actions at times, like dragging items in our inventory, activating a skill.
