Doom & Destiny Advanced Reviews

Great game, can tell a lot of time and effort was put into it! Only issue we have is crashing (iOS). It does have an auto-save, but we definitely recommend hitting every save crystal you come across as well so you dont lose much progress.

We got this version to get rid of the ads played the lite version and it worked fine.

Finally picked this up because we had been waiting for an update to support iPhone X and larger screens. So when we saw there was an update there weeks ago that said it was adding that support, we immediately bought it. But this app isnt updated. Still same boxed in format it always has been. Doesnt even extend the controls (ie, you can still see the time, etc on the screen). Not a happy customer!

This game completely blows the original out of the water. If that game was basically a goofy homage to classic jrpgs, this game is an evolution of them instead, with interesting and fun new mechanics. The class changes are a welcome addition along with all the aesthetic options for your characters. Our biggest complaint would be that its a tad too easy to select the wrong option in battle. If you swipe too quickly, the game will register it as a tap and cause you to do the wrong actions. Maybe an option to separate the sides of the screen a la the original would have been nice, although for navigation its still an improvement to be able to control the game one handed. All in all this is a turn based rpg that no fan of the genre should ignore.

We had such a great time playing this game. After having finished the whole thing we are now working on a few endgame things for fun. We really do hope they make another one. We put a solid 70 hours into this game and that ranks it up there with some of the best rpgs we’ve played. Graphics are fun and it just hits a lot of the right spots. We wish the map was more interactive. But thats really about our only complaint. Keeping our fingers crossed for a third title!!!

If you played the first D&D and loved it, this game takes a little time to adjust to. Its not a clone of the first game. But once you figure out the changes, we would argue its even better. Especially love the secrets. 6/5 Stars Cant wait for D&D Worlds!

This game is awesome and funny.

Great new entry. We love the control update. Same humor and satire. Good balance of new mechanics while keeping it easy to pick up right after the first game. You dont have to play the original but its also well worth a go too.

We bought this because we really liked the humor of the first one. This still has some of the humor, but there too many things Im not liking. The combat system feels streamlined, same as gear and actions, but not necessarily for the better. It takes choice and control out of the players hands. Yes while you can still decide if you want Cleave instead of Double Slice as your heros options, it relegates it to some sidebar function, like an afterthought. The switch of putting the order of players on the right side of the screen instead of the usual left is annoying and adds nothing to gameplay other than trying to be different. Same as pressing on screen for x seconds to bring up menu. The swipes were fine, why change? Everytime u put ur finger on the screen, the menu popped up or the map would. Also the humor is constantly hampered by the typos and misspelling, and hackneyed jokes. We cant begin to count the amount of misspelling. Did they outsource this to China? We wanted to like this, but it was only meh. This lacked the freshness and irreverence of the first game.

Really disappointing. Worse graphics, worse controls, worse story than the first game. Im really confused about how this happened. The controls are infuriating. Our character moves to the right whenever we try to interact with something. The original game was so perfect, so all the changes here are completely baffling.

Wonderful RPG but some glitches kill the experience a little bit… Like how the music cuts out rarely or the SFX. But, most of the time, it is there.

This is a under appreciated game ! We absolutely loved playing both adv and the OG. Our whole life we’ve been looking for games like these. They keep the old school jrpg with funny up to date Easter eggs and challenging puzzles/monsters. We have the steam versions of adv/OG and on our phone we have ADV! Cant wait for worlds !!!!

But it’s fantastic!! Brings us back to the days of classic Nintendo RPGs with lots of meta references. Our only criticism is perhaps too many in jokes but it’s a love letter of a game. ()

The mechanics in this game make it hard to be in s hopeless situation. The game makes you think for your self and the humor is fun and relatable. A highly enjoyable tribute to D&D Adventures.

The music is non-existant even with maximum music volume and the audio breaks or stops working after playing for about 10-20 minutes and requires the app to be closed and opened again to recover whatever remaining audio this game has. We do like the up-to-date references and jokes the game offers.

Good game but please fix the void troopers they are ridiculous to fight.

Great game, fun dialogue but please update the UX for menu controls. Without a controller the slide and tap method is tedious and frustrating. We spend more time overshooting the menu screens and closing out than anything else in the game. TIA.

Every time we log in and encounter an enemy the game crash. Please fix.

On the contrary we didn’t mind the switch up from Advanced to the Original. It kept things fresh & plot line was still flowing with the original imo. We can agree being able to obtain food was cool to push past max stats, but all in all in it’s a fun ride either way. Well put together game, everyone complaining about crashing or slow – should probably clear up some space or get an up to date phone lol we had maybe 2-3 crashes the entire 35+ hours we put into this game & that was usual due to what we had running in the background. Well don’t Heartbit.. BRAVO!!

It’s got the charm so far of the first. Still playing. Slightly glitchier. The inventory change is a little weird but we’re open to try it.

We Love this game. Storyline, humor, art work, game development, options. We have been a fan since the first game. We will be buying the next game. That being said our game glitches on us so much. All we have to do is back out and come back into the game. Only a minor inconvenience but an annoying one. If that was fixed It would be 5 stars all around. Please keep these games coming!

The original game was fantastic. Then this comes along you changed the character roles made the controls weird and focused more on comedy than actually story and gameplay.

Will update when fixed: we enjoy the retro RPG as a game, considering its along the same quirk as the first doom and destiny. What we dont enjoy is lags, freezes, and stutters requiring a game restart to play. Please fix for +3 to rating.

Game is great! Only problem is the freezing every so often.

Reminds us of the old days playing Gensis.

Great game, but……… Glitches all the time and we lose progress we wouldn’t have paid to keep having to close the game every 5 min.

Save your money to buy this game when they’ve worked out the kinks. It glitches like every five minutes. Which resets you back where you were five mins ago. Total let down cause we liked the first game. Send us an email when it’s fixed.

Awesome just like the first! Hilarious and fun. Crashes on occasion but refresh it and it picks up right from where it froze, a minor complaint… Especially when one considers the cost of d&d advanced vs e.g. A square enix, final fantasy title, etc.

If this game continues to to be worked on then this is definitely a 5 star game. They just need to tighten up the code a bit. Even now though worth the $

Awesome potential if it wasn’t unplayable. You can’t go very long without crashing and losing progress.

We played the first one and really loved it. This one is almost as good, we think once fully finished it has potential to be better!

Love both games, will buy a third of they make it.

The first one was great. If you enjoyed that one then you will like this one. Definitely worth the .99!!

A fun expansion on the original.

We can’t put this game down. Very addictive.

Loved D&D1replayed it twice;however, D&D2 is different for the sake of being different. Jokes are forced. Story not intriguing.

By far the most in depth iPhone game we have ever played. Please make more!

This game has a great retro feel to it while being more modern times.

We here to state our preference on the addition of the summoner that it should have been Mickey. Nigel’s too op, please nerf.

We absolutely love this game as we are fan of classic RPG style games and this one of the best games we’ve played since Pokemon. Interesting story line and many funny characters included.. It was definitely worth the price!!

Classic style, unique story, fun, and cheap. Get it.

Unique story and a little disconcerting in the beginning; but, overall very well done!

Tried both iterations of this game and both were quite awful. It is notability of work. It is a scam.

This game is definitely with the purchase. It’s funny, addicting, and well thought out with great detail. Well over 60+ hours of play!
