If you loved the classic Double Dragon beat em up games, this game is definitely for you! If you are a fan of the beat em up genre, this polished retro styled brawler should be right up your alley as well! The character sprites are done in classic 8-bit (with much more fluent animation) and the backgrounds looks like a modern 2-D background with an 8-bit pixel finish similar to blaster master zeros style. The music is an awesome mixture of retro and modern remix with some classic double dragon tunes and some new music tracks as well (but if youre missing the classic tunes you can go full on retro style at the title option screen!) the controls are tighter and the hit detection is MUCH better than the classic NES double dragon games, which is great! Also, you can chose to play as Billy OR Jimmy Lee in 1 player mode on the title screen (and even some cool game completion bonus stuff as well!) which is cool and you can start the game from any level youve already completed which is a nice modern gaming touch. SUGGESTIONS: -The ability to customize the controls, like maybe control layout/button size -A jump picture graphic along with text rather than just the word jump. -The option for virtual joystick OR d-pad arrow controls our ONLY complaints about the game is that you have to play through the first level before you can purchase the whole game. Granted, its a minor inconvenience, but it wouldve been nice to be able to purchase the whole game from the get go or at least at the title screen. The GOOD news is that you can RESTORE your purchases from the title screen if your playing it on a different iOS device which is nice. Also, 1.9 Gigs is a bit much storage for a retro styled game, if we didnt have a device with a decent amount of storage, this would be a real bummer! Bottom line? This game feels like the classic NES Double Dragon games as you REMEMBER them with rose tinted spectacles of nostalgia and not as they actually are when you revisit them. In other words, this is retro done right! SPOILERS After completing the game, we do wish the ending was a little longer, its still a good ending though.

Kool gameplay, to bad its only one level is free, which leaves us to the question why cant the first retro double dragon be free on the AppStore at least one of them.

Double Dragon and Double Dragon II: The Revenge was the first video games we ever played on the Nintendo as a kid, we loved those games. The amount of our childhood gleefully wasted playing those games is ridiculous. If Im not mistaken around a year ago it was announced that Double Dragon 4 was being released on the PlayStation Network 20+ years after the last installment, we never had the chance to play it but from what reviews stated it was a mess. Whatever issues the original version had has obviously been addressed, this IOS version is a love letter to the original games and should not be missed. The graphics are a throwback to the glory days of Nintendo and the controls are actually fluent and responsive (as much so as the original Double Dragon). Im not sure exactly how many missions there are but currently Im on mission 7 (Im assuming theres 10). The only downside we can say to this game is instead of charging $2.99 when first installed the developer allows you to play the first mission then prompts you to pay the aforementioned $2.99, its not a huge issue but just odd in our opinion. We absolutely love the game and its one of the best old school games on IOS right now.

This game is a classic and one of our all time favorites. We absolutely love it but doesnt feel the same without a controller. Yall should add Controller support for sure, not just for us but for everyone who cant really play classic games like this on touch screen.

Its a great throwback to the NES/Famicom days of Double Dragon and okays nicely but Id really like mfi controllers to be supported.

This would be perfect with controller support. Even the old games ( double dragon trilogy) has Mfi controller support!

New levels, a new, more wholesome, story, almost every character unlockable as playable, but familiar retro option music, gameplay, graphics, and characters from the NES Double Dragon Era is what you’ll find here. The double dragon games on NES and Game Boy were some of our favorites as a kid, so we are very nostalgic about DD 4. People say it is too similar to the NES classics, but that is the appeal for us. The arcade ports are too different from what we remember to be nostalgic about, and technically inferior to other genre games on iOS such as Streets of Rage 2. This game is a lot easier than it’s NES counterparts because the powerful special moves are easy to pull off, and generous lives, but the limited save system will keep you replaying. If you quit playing or get a game over, you will have to replay the last mission you completed before you can move on. Five stars if story were a little longer or the levels had more variety. To us, besides the nostalgia of playing a new NES style Double Dragon game, the real treasure here is being able to play as nearly every character in the game, classic and new, plus a few special such as from Double Dragon 3 NES in tower or story. It is so neat to see how those moves that have beat you up work, and gives a lot of replay value to imagine your favorite character joined the good guys. The devs did a very nice job making all the character’s moves accessible, including projectiles, and even adding what is needed to make them playable such as rapid punch, run, or crouch. We were able to get to about Tower Level 20 with Billy or Jimmy, which unlocked about half the characters. Then, with Abobo’s extremely powerful moves, we got to about level 32, which unlocked most of them. The twins are also very powerful and stylish, and our favorite. Ohe, and on Mission 11, enter the doors Center, Right, then Right.

Its good like the old games but when you finish the first level you have to buy the rest of the game.

As cool as the first level was, it was a waste time and nothing but a money grab from the creators of this game. After completing the first level they wanted us to pay for the rest of the game. The creators and the game get a 3.

This game needs support for iPhone XR, when we got in to the level the screen wasnt fully filled.

Whoever set up the buttons for punch kick and jumping must not ever play games or doesnt care what sort of trash they put out. Who put the just button off on it own away from punch and kick?

Why is there no way to switch off volume. That makes no sense. Great game other than that.

It would be cool if our backbone worked with this game.

We purchased the game & it tells us if we want to play the full game we must buy it which we already did for 2.99 & it still tells us that after the first level.

Double Dragon 3 (DD3) on the other bundle app is sorta odd. You dont know what the mission is or where you are going. This Double Dragon 4 installment (DD4) has an odd control pad and crappy sounds when you punch and kick. Why cant you guys keep what you did in DD 1&2? Those 2 games are why we still play. We would buy new Double Dragon games hell even make 10 new ones but only if you stick with what you did in 1 and 2 but make the new ones more challenging. DD1&2 are some of the absolute best games invented. The music in DD2 is incredible & the way iOS has it now is perfect! Can you adjust this DD4 to make it more realistic like 1&2? And revise DD3 for sure!

We want to just enjoy the game. Let us continue.
