Hear from the Players – Drop Wizard Reviews

Find out what gamers are saying about Drop Wizard:

We cant get past 2-1 its so hard for us well we still love your games.

Its amazing good job we are hooked on this game and created of hearing this make part two.

Aadan un modo de juego en el q se pueda jugar de forma continua sin la necesidad de andar escogiendo los escenarios es muy tedioso y le quita lo arcade al juego.

Says that its compatible with our iPhone but the game isnt full-screen; in fact it takes up only 25% of our screen and the left/right controls dont work.

His is classic old school gaming. It takes skill and strategy and isn’t easy to beat right away (but you’ll get the hang of it quick). Any one who wrote a review criticizing the controls would have probably given Dig-Dug or Galaga bad reviews too. They don’t really understand the game and don’t want the challenge. Just download and play it. It’s great.

Took a second to get used to the mechanics, but once we did it was really fun and addictive. Some people seem to dislike that the character is always moving, but to us that adds to the challenge. We mean, all you are doing is pressing 2 directions. The game needs a way to stay fast paced and we think maybe that is why they did that. Retro games were always tough and you would die a lot until you got the rhythm down. But that’s what we liked about them. This game has that element to it, along with great retro graphics and 16-bit music. Is this up to par with a Super Nintendo game with the Super Nintendo controller? Of course not. But for a 99-cent iPhone game this is really quite great!

Reminded us of Snow Bros back in our arcade days, of course, with different mechanics. Those days were bliss. Everything about the game is great (music/gameplay/levels/etc) so buy it.

We don’t usually write reviews, we just want to say the game is great and very well designed. People that are complaining about the controls don’t seem to understand that they are intentionally designed to make you think, which we guess some people can’t handle…

This game is very fun. Love the retro feel that this game shows off. The only thing we could complain about is that we found it quite short. We hope you guys are developing more levels for us! Worth the 2 bucks!

This game is wonderful! The design is airtight, with seamless and consistent high-end pixel art that Nintendo themselves couldn’t outdo. (Drop Wizard takes a lot of visual cues from the Kirby games, an obvious inspiration.) we love the main gameplay mechanic: it’s fresh, but still has a familiar platformer feel. The characters and environments succeed one another in a very elegant way that allows you to pick up the game’s ideas intuitively without rushing. Drop Wizard is PeRfEcT for mobile devices and seems truly designed with the platform in mind, not something we can say about many other developers. The music (and sound design!) is emotional and nostalgic, the art is thorough and detailed and cute, and the levels are clever and fun! One of our favorite iOS games to date. :-)

This game was fun and we could not put it down.

Simple controls, fun gameplay, cute graphics, catchy music. The gameplay is easy to grasp, and every level plays out sort of like a puzzle. Highly recommended.

Totally worth the price. If you enjoyed the old school Japanese pixel arcade games you’ll love this.

Drop Wizard has all of the charm of the ultra cutesy arcade/console games from our childhood (Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Island, Kickle Cubicle, Adventures of Lolo), yet remains somehow incomparable and unique. It also plays as if it were made for the platform, which is an alien concept to some development teams, but not this one. We really love this game.

It took a little to get used to but once you get used to it it’s good! Trust us you will like it. It is fun and will keep you smiling 10/10!!!

Okay okay we love this game but the last boss is soooo hard we’re not saying that we’re going to get rid of it because we’re going to keep trying anyway when it gets to the final part in the last boss can u plz give us r HP back because the level is realy hard and when we have one left and when we beat the first part in the battle then he transform its realy heard so PLZ give us are hp back cause who ever heard of giving the boss and u have or game still great though.

We believe this game holds its on with some of the best arcade games in the App Store must buy in our opinion.

We’ve only played the first chapter and a half so far, but we’re loving it — the mechanic is dope and the visuals are super cute. Makes us remember Saturday morning bubble bobble sessions w our friends~

Loving this game a bunch! Anyone here old enough to have played Neo Geo? This is like "Nightmare in the Dark" on Mushrooms! Love the nonstop action and need for quick thinking. Art style is a lot of fun too. Easily worth the entry fee!

One day, all the game apps could live up to this standard of 16 bits graphic and the retro music! A day that we no longer need to beg Nintendo to publish any game on App Store! Today is the Day!!!! Great game hope to add a dual game play mode!!!

We saw this online, and we thought I’d pick it up. For the price, it’s a sweet game! Very charming, and a lot of polish. We like how the mechanics of auto-run and drop-shoot make the game more strategic, especially when trying to build a giant snowball combo. And the Music and art are great! Definitely worth your time, and a lot of simple, pure fun.

This game is so fun and charming, it is hard not to smile when playing. The aesthetics and music are amazing (reminiscent of the Kirby and Paper Mario games in a way, in terms of style and how each stage is a literal one, with curtains and an audience) and the unique gameplay is quite fun. While it takes a bit of getting good at, it’s easy to pick up and play. Definitely a game worth your time and money!

It’s like a little bit of Super Mario 2 reincarnated. Awesome sauce.

This game is amazing. It reminds us of the glory days of arcade games and consoles (1970s and 80s). The controls are great (but take some getting used to), the music is retro, and the difficulty presents a good challenge. Hopefully some additional levels are eventually added. Congrats to the developers on a stellar game. Buy it!

This game is the best thing to have ever happened to us in our whole existence bush did 911.

If you enjoy easy to play, colorful, quirky puzzle games, you’ll enjoy this. Very cutesy, graphics similar to the Kirby video games.

We love everything about this game, the graphics, the music, the simple concept. We only wish there was a way to stop running but we guess you could argue it adds to the games charm and challenge.

This game is truly amazing. We would give it ten stars if we could.. The game has a lovely Kirby influence and feel to it, while still having its own complete story and characters. We’re personally rooting for a sequel or update because it feels so short, and we enjoy it so much. The ending feels really heartwarming and we can’t wait to get the sequel (hopefully) someday.

Completely original and fun. If you have some spare change, pick this one up.

Nice Kirby-like graphics and music. The negative comments are a little extreme. This is a simple little game that has a nice renewed retro feel. Having said that, we do have a few complaints. -The controls aren’t awful as some have said but we would prefer just one touch controls to change from direction instead of two side controls. -It gets quite annoying when we lose a life to falling on top of an enemy. We might suggest being able to hurt enemies by hitting their head. -Also, with the enemies that need to be hit twice, you can get stuck between it and the wall you have to lose a life. -What are the points for???

It’s too short! We loved it and now we want more levels. Other than that, really fun.

We get seriously frustrated with the poor response of the directional controls. Your fingers are quick enough, but the glass isn’t.

Anyone who remembers classics like Bubble Bobble or Rod-Land will enjoy the nostalgic rush this game provides. With its cute graphics and cheery music, it’s hard not to be charmed by the whole production. The only area of disappointment concerns the auto-run control scheme, which some gamers are bound not to like despite that they work well within the limitations of the touch screen. We believe they add a nice element of technique and challenge to the proceedings once the initial awkwardness is overcome, but some alternate control options would still be appreciated. Otherwise, this title is well worth the price.

Then this game is for you. Super easy. Except for the final boss. Oh yeah, and how far they inexplicably start you from the boss. Really fun and comfy game to play. Until the final boss.

First off this is a beautiful game. Im an artist and a very visual person, so the graphics alone convinced us to buy this game. We’ve played this game and put it back down a number of times but we still can’t figure out what we don’t like about it. One thing is that the controls don’t seem ‘right’. It could be the auto-walk or possibly the drop firing (which we realize is where the game name comes from), but whatever it is it just doesn’t seem to click. We can’t deny it’s amazing graphics, smooth animations, cute characters, and the very fitting soundtrack, but with all of that said im just not crazy about it. In conclusion we think we want to like this game more than we really do. If you’re looking for a unique retro-styled arcade game then we think it’s definitely worth the dollar, just don’t expect it to compare it to the classics.

Super fun arcade style game. Only qualm is that we beat it and it was pretty anticlimactic. Told us we should go after all the stars. Cool! We did and then nothing happened lol. Still a great, addicting game. Wish they would have added more levels while we were enjoying the game. Now that it’s over, we deleted it.

The gameplay was addictive and fun, and we LOVE how they didn’t do the stupid "Oh no you ran out of lives now you have to wait 15 minutes!" But there is something we have a problem with. This game is so. Freaking. Short. This should DEFINITELY have an update with at least 5 more worlds with two levels in each world like it currently is. Other than that, we absolutely LOVE this game :)

This is a cute game. We really like the 8-bit style and the music, too. However, we are not a big fan of the controls. Moving our phone side to side can be kind of annoying. Other than that, great game. We would recommend this to anyone.

… On the original NES, then this game will be right up your alley. Cutesy character designs, upbeat music and even little fruit to collect for defeating monsters. We got this app free thanks to the Starbucks app- otherwise we would never pay for it. Cute, but not worth the $ IMO.

This is a pretty good buy. Feeling the artwork as well. No complaints about the control scheme as yet. Fruit is delicious.

Art style is fun and charming, but the controls are really unresponsive. If they were just a bit crisper the game could easily be 4 or 5 stars.

We dont like that the character auto runs once you press a direction. We would rather that he only move while we hold that direction, and stop moving when we lift our finger from the screen. We also would rather have the directional movement contained only on the left side of the screen. It feels unnatural as a traditional gamer to use our right hand to move right. Id rather use only our left thumb to control both our left and right movement like you would with a traditional game controller. Other than those problems, the game is pretty great. Very charming characters and graphics. Stylistically, the art direction feels very much inspired by Nintendos Kirby games. And the gameplay is pretty innovative.

Cute little throwback platformer with some interesting ideas. Very simple and repetitive gameplay. Needs more variety.

The app is good but you need to add more cooler stuff.

This game has a good back story and we love how it’s a retro game, but the controls are so so bad. If the creator sees this, PLEASE change the controls.

From the video and screen shots it seemed like it was similar to Mario bros but it wasn’t. You aren’t able to control when to fire at enemies. And you can’t ever choose to stand still. Ur always moving, but u tell the character whether to move left or right. It’s kind of annoying. We took a chance on this game and now we wish we hadn’t…

Great sounds, great arcade music, simple idea. Lame gameplay. Not our kinda game but maybe you would like it better than us. We could see this getting addicting for the right person.

Shameless copy of Nintendo’s "Kirby" series with frustrating controls that take forever to get used to. Tedious levels with little to no interesting gameplay, we honestly was not impressed.
