The tense excitement of Elder Sign is now available on your mobile device! Elder Sign: Omens places you in control of up to four intrepid investigators, as they fight to keep all-powerful Ancient Ones from invading our world through a museum’s arcane exhibits!

Build a team of unique investigators
Explore an ever-changing museum
Face challenging arcane tasks
Save the world from absolute destruction
Expand the horror with two exciting in-app purchases

Can you stand against the impending arrival of a malevolent Ancient One?

While Elder Sign: Omens brilliantly conveys the spirit of the Elder Sign dice game, a few noteworthy differences were adopted to optimize the mobile play experience:

-A limited number of available Ancient Ones streamlines the game play experience while offering adjustable levels of difficulty. Face Yig in normal mode, Azathoth or Tsathoggua in hard mode, or Cthulhu or Ithaqua in very hard mode (in-app purchases required to face Cthulhu and Ithaqua).
-A number of subtle changes increase the peril of defending humanity. For example, the random negative effects drawn every midnight are more challenging, and the frequency of “no effect” results has been decreased. Monsters have likewise been altered to make them more difficult.
-Finally, there are no Ally cards in Elder Sign: Omens, which further streamlines play while increasing the overall challenge.

Love this game we need to get the physical copy next. We own quite a few Fantasy Flight Games. Thanks for updating to 64bit.

We dearly love this game … But since the 14.2 update, it fails to open. Sure hope it gets fixed. [ edit 4/2021: it works again after Apple updated the apps signature! Doesnt seem like FFG lifted a finger, but anyway Im back to being happy. ]

We really enjoyed playing it on iPad. During these 3 days Since the time of purchase, we have played it nearly a hundred times. It is really addicting. We are definitely going to buy the physical game as well.

We love this tabletop game and so we were very interested to see how this would translate over into an app since it is so involved. This app did not disappoint and is a perfect version of the game. We would even say it really clears some extra questions we had about the board game rules up too! It’s clean, the graphics are great and it plays easy. We love playing four different investigators and using their abilities. We found it was much easier to almost win. Definitely worth the price!

We like the game but it has bugs and could use some love. Twice we’ve completed all the conditions of a task, and it wont complete. You either have to fail it to get out or feed dice to the abyss even though there is nothing left to get. When the game is over, the summary needs to be better, and it would be nice if it tracked your progress with the monsters.

It is still our most loved iOS game. Hands down. Just a beautiful game all around. Fun, difficult, frustrating….. While our family plays the board game too, this version is perfect for the times when we cant get the kids to play….. Absolutely great game!

Love this game, we’ve been playing it since it came out.

So many boardgames that make it onto iOS just don’t capture our imagination, but this one’s different. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s cooperative rather than competitive. Maybe it’s because winning is so rare that you can enjoy a good game even if you lose. Whatever it is, this one’s our favorite, and we’re glad they took the time to update it to 64-bit.

This is a fantastic implementation of the board game!

Otherwise, the best game on iOS. Period.

In all seriousness, this is one of our favorite iOS ports of a tabletop game in existence. It gives a nice taste of the mythos, and provides just enough of a challenge to still be fun. If we were to offer one criticism, however, we must say we miss being able to skip cutscenes. We dont want to have to sit through that long intro every time we play.

Delete and fresh install fixed the problem.

Loved this game but now it wont open. Hoping it gets fixed…

We know luck happens but this luck seems manufactured.

We want to like this game but as is it is unplayable. The instructions/help are useless. The developer needs to add a tutorial. We’ve tried half a dozen games and have absolutely no clue how to even play.

We like the Cthulhu mythos and normally enjoy these types of games, but definitely despise this game. The slot machine quality of gameplay on normal difficulty felt rigged in a weak effort at simulating the kind of challenging play that is traditional to games in the mythos genre; we did not bother to experience the undoubtedly more extreme rigging that must take place at higher difficulties. Wow, am we disgruntled over the wasted money on this fraudulent experience. Thankfully we didnt throw away any more on in-game expansions.

This app is one of the worst board game adaptations we’ve ever seen. No tutorial, no tool tips, really no indication that the glyphs you summon are dice being rolled. No convenient reference showing which dice have how many of each result. We had to read about 20 pages of digital rule book to even guess at how to use the UI, and even then, things like items you can buy in the shop appear as plain icons with no text description of what they do until after you buy them. Really wanted to like this game, and have given it multiple tries.

Way back when the Earth was still cooling game designers had a concept called play balance, with the goal of making the game challenging and interesting without being frustrating. Apparently those days are gone. This game is too random, like a Vegas slot machine, with advanced challenges thrown at the player at any level and often in the very first turn. The result is that you can have a lot of experience with the game and think through every move and still get sandbagged early. Not fun. Been a Mythos fan since the age of ten.

Pick an Old One to battle, gather your team of investigators and go at it! Its pretty easy to play, with rich in-game help. There are some differences from the board game, but they are pretty minor. The investigators are limited until you unlock or buy them, but its enough to have a good game. Obviously, some combinations of investigators are better than others; but again, that contributes to the fun. Be aware this game is all about the dice rolls. Crappy rolls will beat the best team, and vice versa. Im still terrible at it, but we found: You need to take out effects like monster generation and dice locks ASAP, or it will add up fast. Go for the Elder Signs whenever possible. Use the investigators abilities and inventory items early and often, especially clues. More dice is better. If others have better strategies or tip, please add them to comments!

A rich single player experience. Its really fun. Perfect blend of strategy and story. We got our money’s worth just playing the first monster; we anticipate getting all the expansions.

This is a very well-made and fascinating strategy adventure game for a single player (… Made even more fascinating if you are into the creepy crawly Cthulhu Lovecraft saga). It’s basically a manipulation of cards, dice and characters who each have their own special abilities. Your mission is to stop an ancient, timeless evil from entering the world. Very, very hard and it just gets harder. It took us about a week to finish the Cthulhu expansion and we were having bad dreams about it during the process! It’s a scary, intense, atmospheric and story-based ride with cool art, nice movies and difficult gameplay. The learning curve is about a day and if you like single player story based gaming (I’m a Baldurs Gate type myself…) then you will dig this. Just make sure you have plenty of time to kill because it gets addictive after a while. Just started the Egypt expansion and its been hellishly challenging.

Elder Sign is the simplist and most pared down H.P. Lovecraft game in the Fantasy Flight line-up. As with their other Lovecraft games FF has produced a game that does an amazing job of making you feel like you are actually an investigator dealing with other world threats and terrors. This is done in large part due to the great artwork and easy to navigate UI. In the running for the best board game on iOs.

This game is very faithful to the original board game. It is well done, engaging and can be very challenging. The art is superb and the gameplay smooth and well thought out.

This is a great game, but please add the ability to end an encounter, when there is no possible way to win. When the number of dice needed exceeds the number we have, then there is no way to win the encounter. Wasted dice rolls.

This is a great game as far as it goes, entertaining and challenging. It’s immersive and doesn’t get old. But the expansions suffer from gimmicky design decisions. Example: one expansion forces you to gather supplies for an Alaskan expedition instead of Elder Signs at first. No supplies = constant health drain. But a random, unavoidable event in the latter stages can make you lose all the supplies you gathered for no reason, involuntarily and immediately. After 45 minutes strategizing you lose the scenario in an instant. Good play isn’t as import as dumb luck. I’d say get the base game but only devotees need bother with more.

We’ve played the board game for several years and we lose more than we win. So, there really was no reason to make this game any harder. Playing against any elder one other than the easy one is an exercise in futility. 3 characters out of commission, only 2 elder signs, every room has at least two monsters (most have three), and the doom track only has 10 tokens. Challenging is fine, but impossible is no fun. This is no fun.

So we’ve played this maybe 30 times. We’ve only won twice. Once on easy, once on normal. This is not fun. It is mainly based on luck. It looks amazing and the gameplay is smooth but it’s just not a good time. Once things start going south and you’ve lost investigators and you don’t even have enough dice to complete an adventure there is really no point in continuing. There comes a time in all games when you have to decide if it’s worth your time. The challenge vs. Fun ratio is not in the player’s favor so we’re going to delete this one and move on. Too bad really. I’d stick with it if it dangled a few more carrots in easy reach.

This is a fun game that is pretty close to the board game, but is single player only. Would like to see multiplayer added where one could take turns then send move off to friends and also play together on same device. Our only complaint is that there are separate apps for the iPhone and iPad, so if you own one version you still have to pay for the app if you want it on both types of devices.

As a fan of Arkham Horror we thought this would be an abbreviated and portable version of AH. However, it is not even deep enough to be considered "Arkham Lite". It is essentially Cthulhu Slots. With 95% luck involved, the strategy consists primarily of choosing the correct character for the correct mission. The professor goes to lore heavy rooms while the gangster goes to skull heavy rooms. The weapons, items, and spells are all the same dice. No variations exist except for food giving you health back etc. Basically you just spin til you win… Or lose. This could have easily been rehashed into a thousand other themes and been Star Wars Dice or Warhammer Roll Battle or Lord of the Rings War of the Six Sided Cubes… But in the end it is just mindless rolling. The dice mechanics are fun in the way that checkers or tic tac toe are fun. The theme is mildly amusing for the first few playthroughs. But we would have figured his would be free or at most 99 cents. Save your money and get table top simulator on steam. You can get all the Fantasy Flight Games for free and then some.

It doesn’t matter what gear, skill, or choices you use, this game is 80% luck, 20% strategy. If you’re looking for a game where success or failure is up to you and not just RNG, this is not the one.

Dice rolls never give what you need. We’ve played the digital version a dozen of times. Lost every time. An update is needed to correct the success rate of dice roles. Whats the point of playing the digital version if you are going to lose 99% of the time?

Frustrating. Good luck completing any tasks. And the tutorials are just videos.

This game has lots of potential and could be extremely fun if it weren’t impossible to win. It is about luck, and the dice are stacked against you. There is no benefit it repeatedly playing the game (no extras unlocked). We are all for a hard game, but this game takes it way to far. Especially since it requires pure luck to win and not strategy.

Not just the best game the best APP. Ever. Period. We dont leave a lot of App Store reviews, but Ill make an exception this time. Anyone who enjoys challenging games, well-made apps, or Lovecraftian theme (or all three) needs to be playing this. Get it now. Thank us later.

The art, music and writing is amazing. A very immersive game. We’ve bought all of the new levels and love them. We hope they include the option to add the Elder Signs Unseen Forces expansion. I’d buy it it right away!

In today’s world of games pandering to the instant gratification crowd this game is a refreshing break! The game can be difficult, especially at the beginning; however, we actually felt a sense of accomplishment the first time we won a game. And, for anybody even remotely familiar with H.P. Lovecraft’s work, this game’s setting and difficulty fit right in. The world of the Cthulhu Mythos is not supposed to be easy, in fact, there is no winning side for humanity, ever. If a character somehow survives an encounter in the stories, that character is the worse for it! We commend the developers for keeping in the spirit of the genre! Please, keep the difficulty level as it is ( or harder) and let those who seek instant gratification in their games look elsewhere.

We first saw this game on TableTop on YouTube. At first it looked a little too complicated but after watching the episode again, we quickly started to see how it worked. We downloaded the game and now we are hooked. It is still our number one go to game on both our phone and our iPad. It is a must buy if you are a fan of H P Lovecraft and great table top games. Thanks.

Great board game. We own it on our ipad and iphone and bought ALL the expansions for both versions. Thats how we loved this game so much. We also have lords of waterdeep, agricola, carcassone, etc. U name it, we have it, but this ones our favorite.

If you have played the board game version of this, you’ll be pleasantly surprised with this version. There are a few rule/mechanic variations than the physical game, but nothing that makes it feel different in any sense. The core game lets you choose/play against four ancient ones with the option of buying expansions at 2.99 a piece. Don’t be afraid by other reviews claiming the game is rigged. Trust us when we say this that the developers most certainly wouldn’t waste time trying to stack the rolls against you. This game is supposed to be difficult and require some strategy. You will win some and you’ll lose some. This game can also be played with others in person. You can select four investigators, so you can pass the iPad around per turn. As for the three expansions, play the core game first and see how you like it. We absolutely love the expansions because they give you a fresh new take on the game, adding new gameplay objectives and definitely more challenges.

It’s funny listening to some reviewers complain that the game is rigged, that somehow the dice rolls are stacked against you. Why would the developers do this? What would they gain? It’s not logical, unless it’s a freemium game and they are trying to sell you powerups, new weapons, spells, etc. To the reviewer who says none of the campaigns are winnable, we’ve won all of them multiple times. In the case of Yig or Tsathoggua, we can win almost every time. Don’t confuse your poor strategy with a rigged game. We’ll grant you, some campaigns aren’t easy. It took multiple tries to win Cthulhu, and Ithaqua is insanely hard as advertised. Keep at it. And don’t blame the game for your shortcomings.

We own the boardgame by the same company. The artwork is great. BUT the game itself is not. Unable to even defeat a single room with over 8 spells and thats on any level easy to hard. The game is rigged against the player so much that we will win the lottery before we beat this game twice in a room let alone once a day. We would advice not purchasing it at all.

The game has an eerie feel to it, the music adds to that, even if it has been used in other games. The game made us go out and buy the board game, which is far superior all because of one thing… The dice roll generator. Like other reviews point out, it just seems awfully coincidental that you can’t seem to get the die you need to win most of the time. In the board game you stand a much better chance rolling what you need. This game makes you feel the odds are stacked in the games favor. If you want to do that, make it a game mode. Fix the dice roll generator and this will be a much more fun game. As is we hardly play it and would never consider the expansion.

We enjoyed the core game, though the sensation of have the dice roles literally taken out of our hands makes it feel like the devs subtly stacked the deck against us. Some VERY "coincidental" dice roles always seem to pop up at the worst possible times, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. The Cthulu expansion on the other hand feels down right rigged. No matter how much of a beat down we’ve given Cthulu’s minions in the museum, we ALWAYS get trounced in the second part, in the Pacific. Funny how a midnight effect seems to crop up after our fourth investigator has completed his turn, giving us NO opportunity to respond before getting hit with some crippling effect, like "Doom +2", which of course seems to happen jut after the "Doom +2" Cthulu effect. To make matters worse, the explanation for how that second part works is fuzzy. We know we sound like we’re spewing sour grapes and we’ll be the first to admit that we have presented just one person’s opinion, so buy it and play it if you want, just don’t consider it a viable replacement for the board game.

Might be fun for fans of the boardgame. But not easy to learn, and taking away the tactile fun of rolling dice makes it less fun than it otherwise is. Also not an intuitive game to learn to win. Will require dozens of plays before strategies become apparent. More time than most will want to invest. We own dozens of FF board games and have played boardgames-to-apps we love like neroshima hex b/c the app is better, or at least as good/fun, as the original. This is not. Again, it will likely appeal to fans of the cooperative boardgame especially those who play solo. For us, a wasted 6 bucks. FF, an in-game tutorial would definitely be helpful to noobs. Videos and encyclopedic rules just don’t do it. If we want something we must to study to learn, we will choose a boardgame with rules that are handy.

We haven’t played this game enough to have any opinion about whether the dice generator is rigged or not. But we are at our wits’ end with this cluttered, unhelpful, unforgiving user interface. A good, challenging cooperative game makes every turn count, and a wasted turn should be enough to wreck your chances under the wrong circumstances. This game makes it FAR too easy to accept the wrong quest, use the wrong item, save the wrong die, etc., and any such instance can kill your chances of success. This game desperately needs an UNDO button, which would work right until you roll the dice. Until then, we’ve HAD it.

Main problem with this game is the difficulty is artificially raised due too poor game design not reflective of the actual board game. We’ve seen adventures that had 3 monsters and 4 tasks on it. Not even possible in the board game because hey it’s not balanced in any way. Fix this nonsense. Not remotely fun the way it is. Hey how about the rules reflecting the board game. What a concept.

This could be a lot more fun if things weren’t always luck of the draw. Normal mode is more like difficult.. We realize it is about figuring out the right team but sometimes it feels like the game is no longer fun and just frustrating.

The Nyarlathotep campaign is a joke. Unwinnable and NOT fun. Trying to win a game where all potential or real strategies are ruined by dice rolls is not fun. We once adored this game. Each expansion is more ridiculous in terms of randomness. Silly at this point. Deleted from our device now, as sad as that makes us.

Fantastic conversion, excellent to play solo or co-op. Keep the expansions coming and a big thanks for the PC release. Release more of the Fantasy Flight catalogue and we’ll buy those too, especially Gears of War and Descent.
