IN THE NEWS
“A full-on RPG, complete with character progression, inventory management, and NPC interactions … The character development and combat systems find that sweet spot between being too simplistic to matter and becoming a bloated distraction.” – Gamespace.com
“Untold is a really solid and convenient package. It delivers feelings of grand adventure while allowing you to experiment and explore, and it does this pretty much all through text. It may not satisfy folks looking for a flashier, more action-packed experience, but Untold's restraint is exactly what makes it so impressive and refreshing.” – 148apps.com

Community Insight:
This genuinely entertains us more than even AI text RPGs. Those can get lost and forget context later in the game, but we love the ability to revisit locations and make sure you don't miss anything. There's tons to interact with, and there is a fun critical thinking element involved.
So the new combat makes the Ironclad Vagrant completely unbeatable. Without changing equipment mid match, he cannot be killed. Im at the highest level you can get with one of everything (including gotterdamurung) and ready to go to Roeburgh and 10 tries with every combination does not even get his health 5% down. You need to have a shield to do bash, you need puncture to get rid of his armor, and you need hamstring to reduce his speed further and no combination of equipment gets you all of them. Very frustrating since its an achievement.
The world is really intricate and the lore seems to be set up really well. Im glad that it doesnt hold your hand though the game.
Best text based RPG Ive ever played.
Great game! Its enjoyable and gripping 10/10 especially for mobile.
Stimulating UI, ambient audio and a touch of thematic music makes for Great storytelling. Give it a look.
In these games, they do a lot with a small, tight map. Cool to revisit places and notice subtle changes or have new options depending what happened there before. Would have preferred a sale but liked the others enough to not wait. There is a chronology but games can be played in any order with full enjoyment.
Really cool game totally worth it if you enjoy a good story game.
Fun game. Interesting story. Well worth the price.
We loaded up Untold since we found that they released a new game, and its still such a good story and game all these years later. We got sucked in to all 3 games over the n last few nights to our wifes ire. Really appreciate the work the creators put in to it. The continued lore over the years plus the incremental improvements is awesome.
We stumbled upon this game, looking for something totally different, and Im so glad that we did. Im a huge fan of RPGs, and after losing our sight, this is really quenched that thirst. After playing in trial mode, we were hooked. We purchased a game instantly, and cant wait to complete it so that we can play the others in the series. You guys have done a magnificent job, keep up the great work.
A lot of improvements made! Am really enjoying the story and glad we can die and save at any time now.
As far as RPGs that are accessible to the blind go, this game is definitely a solid addition to the roster. It is incredibly replayable, with different choices and paths that unlock previously unseen places and interactions. This is One of those games that will make you play over and over again, trying to find all of its hidden secrets. Stats really do matter, as there are many places you simply cannot reach without a certain stat being high enough. The problems ive had with this game are the combat and the save system. As for the combat, while it is technically accessible, the fact that you have to double tap the attack button at the right time using voiceover while also alternating between special attacks makes it incredibly frustrating and a bit more difficult for visually impaired players to enjoy. The second game in the series, Eldrum: Red Tide, fixed this problem, implementing a fully turn based system That is completely accessible. The game has a tendency to auto save at weird places, which can sometimes cause you to lose a lot of progress if you die at the wrong time.
We paid and only got the second half of the tutorial and was left with a full inventory of untied up plot threads.
Id have to say this game is very well billed! The storyline and the gameplay is very very good. One of the best Ive seen.! Thanks so much for creating games for visually impaired.
Great RPG storytelling and music.
Wonderfully written story with different outcomes based on how your decisions. Very fun and an easy way to pass the time.
Just the right level of challenge and a story we feel like we could replay again and try out different things. Combat is real time, though it plays out like a turned based battle. You just need to attack when your bar fills up and then you have different abilities, depending on what weapon is equipped. Lots of experimentation. We just wish there was a little bit of a guide online somewhere so we could play it again and know exactly what choices will get us what. Though, in the end, you can always just have different files and experiment yourself.
Compelling narrative and well designed game. Appreciate how screen reader accessible this game is, including the little details like focus changing.
Being visually impaired, this game is one of the best games that we have come across.
Each episode keeps getting better. Honestly one of the best games out there.
Perfect game to play while in the office or waiting for an appointment.
Story is way to short, you really should add on and keep it going. At least from what has been implied that it after you beat ole boy.
We love this game. It reminds us so much of the Hugo games from when we were a kid (Hugos House of Horrors, anyone?!) for only $5 with no ads or need to spend any additional money to make gameplay better, we recommend this game to everyone.
The entire game is a great experience. The sequel is also very rewarding. The writing and music to Untold and Red Tide is some of the best Ive heard within the App Store. As far as the various endings for Untold, and this is from a player who has played each many multiples of timesI wish there was a version of an ending that was a bit more triumphant, heroic/satisfyingjust our opinion. Final Questions: 1. The woman on the balcony (near Emerald Ave) who speaks to you then disappears: any closure with that aspect? Great work.
This app is so fun. Ive been playing it for so long. We only wish that there is more so we could play it more.
This game filled quiet momentsand our imagination.
This is not our first text adventure game, and it definitely wont be the last, but this was a very enjoyable and memorable experience. It had its flaws and wasnt the best text adventure game Ive played, but the story was captivating throughout the game and we actually liked the direction it took with dialogue and the gorey gritty setting. A great game but the only thing we would change is give a few more options to the player and definitely make the game longer. We loved this and would really appreciate a longer, fully fleshed out version of the story but maybe with a different medium, who knows. Thank you for this experience.
We love how the novel is made. You can go visit to places, cheese some aspects of the game like resting at the inn if you want to, the game gave us some sense of an open world which is amazing for a novel game. One star off because it felt pretty short but otherwise we enjoyed the game very much. We wish you guys would make an open world type of game with this idea where we can encounter different plots and stories. That would be awesome. And we wish we could do more stuff past the ending too. All in all definitely was worth the money. Thank you.
The story is really good, incredibly in-depth, great character motivations, and the background art is superb, but one major flaw: gameplay. The gameplay is built to beat the player down as much as possible, needing certain things to get past certain obstacles. At the point of writing this, Im lv 9, have the best armor and weapon we can currently get at our level as far as our knowledge, full HP, cannot level up any further as far as we know, and yet we cannot progress in the story because of this one guard blocking the way who deals more damage than us, protects against our hits 9 times out of 10, and sometimes just ignores our parry. We have only 10 gold, no known way to get more, thus we cannot get better equipment to help us further. Our only options are to ram our head into that enemy until we get 1/1000 odds of beating him, or restart from the very beginning and play perfectly just to get past that one enemy. The repetitive significant slowdowns just feel like padding on the developers part to extend the length of the game, and it significantly hurts our enjoyment of an otherwise incredible D&D-like game.
Theres not more we can say, its fantastic.
Fun. Great story. Fair price. Excellent design.
The plot, setting and plot twists are amazing aswell as the dialogue itself.
The world is dark and brooding, with art, prose, and music to match. Your choices matter in ways that will keep you guessing (and begging for more save slots). Its a little short, but difficult enough that we cant imagine anyone getting to the end without dying several times. Thank goodness theres an Eldrum sequel already, Red Tide (even better), and a third in development! These are the most immersive, challenging, and high quality text-based games Ive found for mobile devices, and Ive tried tons of them. Id love to see this team play with genre and style, as bleak and gory isnt strictly our jam. We would play any text-based game they created cozy, comedic, or high fantasy; sci-fi; mystery whatever they feel passionate about Im sure would be a slam dunk.
Just beat the game. This was a fun several hours. The game is completely accessible with voiceover.
Not knowing they were needed for the potion, we ate some flowers to regain health. Now we cant make the antidote.
They tried to casualize the gameplay by just making it, tap the screen to win. He wouldve been a much better game if it was turn based.
Bought the game, thinking it was worth a shot. Ended up being the best thing Ive ever did. Definitely need more games like this.
We actually really like the game AND hopefully there will be more stories added because we played it all and want more.
Making it procedurally generated would be awesome but a big task sure. As it is now, very enjoyable.
This is a game that everyone will enjoy! It's brought our heart so much happiness then we can play video game as complex and intricate as this, while being blind and using accessible features on our iPhone. Truly amazing and we hope that more games like this are developed and we want to continue supporting games like this for ourselves, others, the future, people like us, and people who are into these sorts of games! Thank you to the developers for creating such a special game that has inspired us so much.
Its exactly that. The story, the visuals, the sound – it all comes together to create something truly beautiful. We love that our character is a woman, Im tired of the default in RPG is usually a male character as well as other boring tropes. This character and the supporting characters were more original and realistic to the setting. The story is violent, it follows people in a dangerous setting. Honest and descriptive death scenes and other tragic themes. This is another aspect we appreciate as death and killing in video games has become far too g rated. It and other terrible things should be represented realistically. Our only complaint is, we have done multiple play throughs and there are various secret items you can get if you save scum. Though its hard to say if you got them all in the end. So it would be nice to have a way to know if you collected them all. The other thing is we would love if at the end there was a little something more, like we could go join the war. We grew a powerful character and Id love to take her out more, its a shame to have it end but we suppose it has to be over at some point.
At first we didnt think that it would be a good game but our mind was completely blown. The story is very interesting and there are many different choices you can make.
This game has an engaging story and a pretty fun game play style. Our only complaint is the saving mechanic is not the best. You can do something for 20 minutes, then get spawned back at an old checkpoint. We had a habit of manually saving before any major decision, but got us stuck in a death loop at one point.
The fact that you have to pay for the full game is truly unfortunate. We hate it, but Im glad that we were able to enjoy what was free of the game. We wont pay for it, but theres nothing bad about this game. Its lovely.
Great game! But please implement a new game+ so we can keep our stats and gear from our first run if we want to replay.
Solid choose your adventure with light rpg and combat elements. Story is interesting but relatively simple. Comparing this to a computer rpg, its not great value per dollar but its better than 90% of phone games. Game ended at what felt like the end of Act 2, maybe even Act 1 of a more fleshed out story. We beat it in a day, even when we went back to explore everything and fight every encounter possible. We recommend it if you like to play games like this on the bus train or a plane. However, buy Sorcery first if you havent already played those since theyre better. If you dont play RPGs on the go, just buy computer RPGs for deeper, longer adventures.
New spin on classic text adventures. Great game.
Reminiscent of the choose you own adventure books, Eldrum: Untold allows you to interact with the story as you read shaping your own destiny while weaving an intricate story of pain, loss, adventure and perhaps triumph you decide . Finished the story and maybe play through a few more times and see how different the outcomes can be. Enjoy.
It was a awesome dnd style game we loved it.
