Dive into Endless Depths 2 RPG

Endless Depths 2 is a rogue-like role-playing game that holds true to classic features such a randomly generated dungeon levels, a myriad of class/race combinations, a bunch of treasure to discover and a one-life-one-death difficulty level that can be quite addicting. In addition to what might be expected in a rogue-like RPG, Endless Depths 2 adds a level of persistence to the genre that allows for item farming, crafting, and even increased difficulty levels should a character make it to the end.

Endless Depths 2 is a sequel to the popular Endless Depths and Endless Nights RPGs available in the app store. It uses the TitanFire RPG system, which focuses on building a strategic defensive combat system. This class-based game encourages a mixing and matching of classes, including special classes that can be unlocked as the character progresses.

Endless Depths 2 Features:

  • Classic rogue-like game play and turn-based strategy
  • Farm gold and gems that carry over from one character to the next
  • Craft items from the gold you’ve acquired (even gold gained from previous characters)
  • Start with 4 basic classes (Warrior, Adventurer, Cleric, Mage) and discover over 20 new classes as you progress
  • Start as 6 basic races (Human, Elf, Dwarf, Gnome, Halfling, Half-Ogre) each with their own unique ability
  • The game starts over with increased difficulty should you defeat Mephistopheles

Endless Depths 2 is similar to RPG classics like Rogue, Angband and Diablo with a level of challenge similar to Dark Souls. You can find online help for the game at http://www.nations-software.info/endless-depths-help or by clicking "Online Help" from within the game.

Instant fan. This is super addictive and well thought out. Only criticism is the lack of music or even some environmental ambience would be nice. Other than that this is down right solid and a lot of fun to play!

UPDATE ENDLESS NIGHTS SO we CAN KEEP PLAYING IT PLEAAAASSSEEE DONT LET YOUR GAMES SLIP AWAY.

We’re still picking up this rogue like, because it strikes a great balance of challenge and playability (for one, you don’t die every 5 minutes!) the random dungeons are interesting and you don’t need to waste time searching for hidden doors. Choice of optional attack "skills" make this game a bit more interesting (quick blow for speedy monsters, or cleave for more powerful but slow moving monsters). Controls at snappy, and having the virtual joystick as well as the tap-here options are nice for variety. The game might benefit from some bigger goals like quests, and we have yet to find a single run, but gaining new skills over time is nice. NOTE: the game occasionally hangs when in a fight, but simply quit the app and restart right back where you were.

(Suggestions) -Add more trait combinations, like str/dex and con/spirit -new races are neat but what’s the point of giving them a xp penalty? It’s not like they’re OP, and they have resistance penalties which make sense lore wise. – Draconian is meant to maneuver players into playing a monk with them, ( we sense EQ influence) which feels wrong. Why not just change fist to have a 4 delay, (cuz honestly the fist should be the fastest not the dagger) and allow monks to use gauntlets as hand to hand weapon. Also change gauntlets to have 6 delay, lower its max damage by 1 and same parry rate as dagger. And back to draconian instead of that hand to hand bonus, give it instead a skill called "tail swipe" which is aoe melee attack, minimal damage, usable once per combat. -change "identify monster" to just "identify" -use the "identify" skill to tap on buff or debuff to see its description – add "identify" skill in character sheet so we can see what each trait or what passive skills do -using "identify" skill on monster then on its info window another identify button so we can tap on its skills to see what they do. -add more helmets to crafting and maybe each helm have a different natural bonus like the sallet have +absorb and the helm have +armor, just like the wizard hat has +energy -make big house our limited storage area where our "forefathers" left us heirlooms -clarify some of the spells/skills or add more description to it. For example dark Knights skill, shadow ally, physical absorb.

We played Moria at the university back in the early 90s. We later played its successor Angband on and off for two decades. Really wonderful to find this game in the app store!

Best old school rpg out there. Would like to see some updates.

Love it. Handles great but looks like our childhood games. One of the worst things about randomly generated environments is that they often look totally fake and out of place. Endless Depths 2 does great placing pseudorandom elements like hallway statues and fountains and altars to make dungeons memorable. Great "as you fight, so shall you level" character development too. Try a true retro RPG. Take it from someone who was there!

Still lots of fun. Great game.

5 default classes, 5 races, and apparently prestige classes (mix and match the default to get new ones for those not into d&d). Only gripe is control pad, which you get used to. AMAZING rogulike, and actually one, not a rogue-lite or anything like that.

This is an incredible game, dont get us wrong. Its fun and addictive and well crafted. But recently we’ve run into creatures with 75% poison and magic resistance, weakness to light, and 100% resistance to literally everything else, including physical attacks. This is one case where we believe the game to be unbalanced, because playing a melee character means almost certain death when faced with one of these, especially since almost all monsters follow you RIGHT up your bum with almost no way to get away from them. We dont need incredibly fast monsters that are 100% invincible unless you have very specific abilities.

You get mad at first when you die, but once you built up your character and get deeper into dungeons it starts becoming challenging. Making decisions to go deeper in the dungeon and risking your one life, or building your character stronger and spending hard earned gold. It’s addicting and fun.

We like the game, but occasionally you’ll go to a different level and won’t be able to move/teleport… Leaving you with only suicide as an option. Frustrating when you have a couple hours into a character and it dies to a game bug. Overall. It’s a fun waste of time.

About five minutes in and game completely froze. Unable to do anything.

This game locks up all the time on our iPhone SE, iPad mini 4, and iPad 6. This game is corrupt and needs redoing. Sent two messages and havent got a reply, dont know how it got all those stars.

We love this game. In addition to being a fun (dare-I-say addictive) game experience, the developer is responsive, working with users to to improve the app over time. Recent changes to character progression have really blown us away! The only nitpick we have isn’t enough to drop a star, but it would be nice to have a little more information on the rules of the game. Does heavy armor have any effect on our ability to be stealthy or cast spells? No such interaction is listed. What does it mean to "daze" a monster? What do these snowflakes debuffing our character mean? Do "Holy" weapons do anything? The current experience results in a sensation of curiosity and exploration, which is fun for a bit but inevitably turns to frustration when you get a really good character going only to be killed because you don’t know how an ability or item (that you have had most of the game) really works. TL;DR Fantastic Rogue-like experience, great developer, some mechanical opacity. FIVE STARS.

This game has a true old school vibe and we adore it. There are other roguelikes with better graphics and music etc etc but the developer had his heart and head in the right place when he created this. This is quite a bit easier then endless nights, you can just go back and forth between easy dungeon levels to level up and find loot until you are brave enough to go deeper. We appreciate that cause endless nights is brutal. Some people don’t like the new way of leveling up and character creation but we love it. It’s not quite so open to chance, we like to have a clear idea of what direction our character is going in. We would love to be able to pay to remove ads. Maybe after a certain player level or dungeon floor people can have the option to remove them and continue playing? We don’t think this game should just be free.

The game is fine, but please bring back the old class system. It was much better to plan out what class you wanted to end up becoming, especially for mixed classes like paladin or necromancer.

4 stars because it crashes on our ipod 5 every 10 minutes or when we fight monsters.

This is a great and fun game. But you should be able to save your progress. And not having a story line or a party is a bummer too.

We have reset program 5 time because of it freeze when battling monster. The game looks nice but the freezing part kill it.

For as much fun as this game is, the difficulty ramps up way too fast. And the punishment for even a single mistake is brutal. Sometimes even costing you the entire game. What I’d propose is adding an ‘easy’ mode in which upon player death, so long as the player has a certain amount of gold on them they can respawn at the town. This gold cost could scale with player level, starting low in the early game so that the beginning isn’t as brutal. Then as your character levels up, the cost increases accordingly being less forgiving of player mistakes. Just a thought though.

We’re loving it. Talked some buddies we work with into getting it. Just wish there was a multiplayer<3 Would like it if the apple version was updated to 1.04 please!

While this is a great fun, free game there is a level cap at 20 that makes the game not so fun at that point. Also the ring of regeneration does nothing since the characters already regenerate HP and SP. Please take off the level caps.

Great variation on nethack. Very addictive. Would pay to see level cap of 20 removed. Robe of Archmage, scrolls of identify and rings of regeneration do not seem to do anything.

Fun game. We’ve wasted a lot of time playing this. We wish there was more information on how stats and other things effect your character.

Awesome game! Wish there was a faq on the magic items in the game.

We’ve played this a lot and it’s a great dungeon crawler but can get a little grindy after awhile. Enter dungeon, kill some baddies, loot, sell gear, repeat. It’s not that it’s bad, we just wish there was a little more to it. We think Endless Nights is actually better because at least you meet up with some NPCs who give you a quest every once in awhile and give you a purpose. Either way, the Endless series is the best example of a roguelike for the iOS.

Sometimes the game won’t start without a network connection. We presume it’s a bug in the ad software.

The game is entertaining enough, but it crashes every time you launch it without a data connection due to the ads. This means you can’t play it on a plane, on a boat, in the car…

We love the game, it’s quite a fun little trough back. We do have a hard time controlling our guy though. The direction pad would be great if it had other options. Again, great game though.

Seriously, thanks for making this!

This game would get a solid five star rating if it got a cleaned up interface, preferably with a better art style (subjective, we know).

When we get lvl 3 we can’t lvl up anymore, and our money is stuck in 200gold, wth is that?
