Description

Here is the long-awaited successor to our critically acclaimed flight simulator. It simulates the Space Shuttle approach and landing in incredible detail and accuracy.

This is a remaster of our original F-Sim Space Shuttle, completely rewritten from scratch. New features include:

  • Console quality graphics
  • Interactive tutorials
  • White Sands as a third landing site option
  • Orbit mode

F-Sim Space Shuttle combines realistic flight simulation with stunning graphics and fun gameplay.

You’ve never landed a Space Shuttle before? We’ve got you covered: Included are several tutorials with varying degrees of autopilot assist. Our landing analysis and scoring system tells you exactly how to improve your next landing. It will make you come back and try again.

Each flight starts at either 10,000 feet, already aligned with the runway, or at up to 50,000 feet, before banking into the heading alignment cone. During descent, the Orbiter is an unpowered glider, so you will only have one chance to get it right. Astronauts used to call it a flying brick: Because of its 200,000 lbs. gross weight and low lift over drag ratio, the approach is six times steeper and two times faster than a typical airliner approach. After your first safe touchdown, chase that perfect landing, compare your high scores online with your friends, earn medals, and unlock achievements. Experiment with different wind conditions, night approaches, and even emergency scenarios or system failures. At the end of each flight, watch a replay from different camera angles.

You control the Orbiter’s pitch and roll axes by tilting your device. Alternatively, you may switch to on-screen analog sticks or use a gamepad. Rudder, speed brake, gear, and chute are usually handled by the autopilot, but you can have full manual control if you like. For beginners, we’ve added rectangles that visualize the desired approach path. Simply try to stay within the corridor of rectangles, and they’ll guide you right to the touchdown point. Advanced pilots can turn them off and rely on the instruments in the head-up display (HUD) instead. The simulated guidance, navigation and control (GNC) systems are authentic replications of their counterparts in the real Orbiter, and the HUD features all the instruments real Space Shuttle commanders used to employ to skillfully land this unique aircraft. Now it’s your turn to give it a try.

A new orbit mode lets you take the Orbiter for a spin around the planet, and we’re working on a full atmospheric re-entry scenario, which, among other new features, will be released as free updates in the coming months.

There are no ads or in app purchases, and we don’t collect any personal data.

Updated on 29th September 2021

This is a minor update with bugfixes and some new features:

New features:

  • Background audio (e.g. playlists from Apple Music) can now be played back instead of F-Sim’s in-game music. This is optional and must be enabled in the F-Sim’s Sound And Vibrations settings.
  • RCS controls (in orbit mode) now always use virtual sticks instead of tilt controls
  • New autopilot wheel-brake option

The following bugs have been fixed:

  • Wheel bounce detection is now less aggressive
  • Fixed a bug with terrain collider updates (this bug sometimes caused the Orbiter to jump during rollout when the framerate was low)
  • Fixed a couple of bugs concerning wheel brake control during rollout.

F-Sim|Space Shuttle 2 Reviews

This little flight sim is our favorite on mobile right now. Its beautiful, and though limited in scope, it does space shuttle landing extraordinarily well. We’ve spent as much time in orbit enjoying the view as we have landing (and yes, you can maneuver in orbit unlike what another reviewer says). Theres nothing to complain about here. If you are an aviation or space flight geek, this is a must have! In our view its perfect!

This is the best space flight simulator.

The developers have done an incredible job improving on the original which we still have installed. Cant wait to fly a full reentry when thats completed. Wonderful job!!

This game is crazy cool and realistic and it runs beautifully on our phone. We really just have one question, and that is when the re-entry thing will be added. Our suggestion is when you are landing into a sunset you should make the sun less big.

Best simulator ever! Will there be any updates soon?

Really glad this has been updated. The graphics look amazing. We cant wait to try re-entry. Are you going to bring back clouds and visibility limitations? Also, as a request, can you add in some abort air fields such as Zaragoza or Shannon? That would be neat to try!

F-Sim 2 is a good update of the original F-Sim Space Shuttle flight simulator. We bought the original for our iPad when it first came out, and we appreciate the new version on our current iPhone X. The motion and control is smooth. The HUD is realistic and captures the visual aspects of landing the Shuttle. The simplicity of the controls is well suited to an iPhone, so you can focus on roll and pitch with the way you hold the phone, without needing to use your hands to fiddle with buttons or other things to click on. The simulator is simple in this way and fairly easy to get started, yet it is challenging in the skills needed to carry out a good landing. The scenery is beautiful, the cockpit details are very good (including functional displays!), and the sun lighting is rendered well. Finally, we really appreciate that there arent in-game purchases or ads. This app keeps to the old method of simply buying it once.

When we started playing this game we thought is was gonna be a walk in the park, but it was far from that. It took us a while to get our first safe landing then a good landing.

Will you guys add a launch sequence so we can experience the launch and will or can you add missions and openable payload bays and Canadarm and maybe a docking to the ISS and a full free mission like you launch into space then re-enter.

Add a take of at Kennedy space center.

We had been playing F-SIM Shuttle One for a number of years when we came across this, and although we hesitated from buying this game for a while we finally caved in, and this game is well worth $5. The orbiters cockpit is wonderfully and realistically detailed and Atlantiss exterior is no less beautiful and almost looks like the real thing. In addition, to all of this we also love the tutorials, demonstrations, and even the new landing site (White Sands, we dont care if it was only used once). But even, better orbit mode is a great way to see the Earth in a unique way. We cant wait for a new update!! This is a must for any Spaceflight nerd (like myself). Our only critique would be that the payload doors are closed in orbit mode, in real life the cargo doors were open while in orbit to keep the shuttles systems from overheating, but honestly this doesnt bother us that much as the amazing RCS thruster plooms make up for that. Keep up the great work!!

Was a fan of the first F-Sim and came back to try F-Sim 2 after many years. Im enjoying it a lot! Its challenging but we’ve gone from the top of the Consecutive Crash Landings Leaderboard (not a thing) to our first Perfect Landing and subsequent #2 spot (Mar. 15) on same named leaderboard in about 2 weeks time. Graphics and app performance are smooth as butter (iPhone 11). No complaints at all except for not being able to see some of the leaderboard titles due to word length. Not gonna lie, really looking forward to that re-entry challenge but itll get here when it gets here. Good luck to the dev(s) and all the astronauts/cosmonauts out there!

Extremely difficult to make a perfect landing in a realistic setting but thats the beauty of this simulation. Job well done. Its near flawless. Patiently waiting for the re-entry option update. Thats half the fun of a landing. ;-)

Since 2012 the f-sim has been our most played "game" app in our phone and ipad. This new version is a big improvement. We fly big jets for a living and the characteristics and feel for the new controls remind us more of real flying. In the old app we had diconnected all automation and assistance and made a good or perfect landing almost all times. This new version is much more difficult and small mistakes have more effect on the touchdown. We know flying the 767 and the space shuttle is not the same but we think this is much more like flying the real thing. We are really looking forward to the re-entry part. If we can point out some small improvement that could be made. First the lighting inside the cockpit at night is too bright. In real life you would have all light as dim as possible and most likely turned all the way down. Second we would like more options regarding crew comunication. Not always the same crew. Thanks for an awsome simulator and we hope you will continue to improve, extend and add new things to it!

We hope the full Re-entry is coming in a update soon because we want to know what it going to look like. And we should add shuttle Names so we can choose what shuttle name we want and have the Nasa 747 carrier the shuttle to Florida so then all we do is sit back and relaxs. And we should have were we can launch the shuttle into space that would be a cool ding to have and thats all that this game needs. So read us message and respond to our text.

The first version has been a favorite of ours since we got it years ago. Im now on an iPhone 12 Pro Max and a 2021 iPad Pro 2TB. The new version two is unbelievable in quality. We’ve pad far more for PC based flight simulators that were t even close to what you all have here. Congratulations and good luck in the future!

Ok this game is sooooooo nostalgic to us because back in 2018 we were in first grade and we had this friend named Dustin and we loved f sim. The only reason we got this game is for the orbit mode but one thing we suggest is a launch sequence and missions. But this game is the best.

We’ve been an "Air Sim" junkie for IOS since iphone 3, and when we first played the original F-Sim when it arrived for iPhone, it was already much better than any of the standard popular titles out there. Not many covered Space Shuttle flying, F-Sim was one of the few that tackled this difficult segment of aviation to not only simulate but to develope the simulated physics into code for a game. It’s not standard plane modeling because the Orbiter Vehicle was such a unique situation with it’s own unique flight envelope and characteristics. They somehow managed to get it right back then though, and the realism and graphics made a constantly interesting flying experience for the user. This new updated version has all the same hallmarks of precision and attention to detail as the original, except consider everything SUPERCHARGED now, and going from a "10" to a an "11", and taking advantage of all the technical improvements in our modern devices. The added scenarios have been improved and the addition of making changes by customizing the glide slopes as you wish is incredible. Not only is this game one of the best space shuttle simulators, it is simply one of the best aviation simulators of all time. There is no way you will be disappointed. Impossible.

As a giant space shuttle fan this is amazing. It reminds us of the simulator at Kennedy Space Center. Im hoping the re entry mode is still in the works? Would definitely make it a a 6 star app at that point.

Didnt even know this was out until this morning. Immediately downloaded it and our experience with playing it so far has been highly enjoyable. The new and improved graphics are amazing! Many new mission setup features to explore as well. Looking forward to getting deeper into it.

We hope Full Reentry is out soon everyone wants it to come out already with that coming out the whole game is going to be better then all the game on the App Store and we hope more Updates will be released like being able to change the name of the shuttle and more.

This game is amazing the quality is good the audio is PERFECTO its so realistic we cant even focus on the space shuttle this is the type of game we play when we are bored we play this game all day because its so realistic our question is when is the reentry update coming? The turning is really good especially when it is on the HAC mode you can customize the land final, full, fail, what runway, day or night its just so good we expected to be like f sim 1 but its has more than that its really good.

We really like this game but it would be way better if we could use our backbone controller for it.

We bought this game as a long time fan of the first F-Sim and we must say this is an astounding predecessor to the original, our only gripe is there is no random button in the custom approach screen, if you add this we will change our review to 5 stars. Thank you for this wonderful sim, it has brought back many memories for us.

Its a fun game and its definitely a little bit of an upgrade from the first one but not as much as we were expecting. The orbit flying doesnt really make sense to us but we are looking forward to the re entry expansion. One issue with the game is that when we switch to the view from behind the craft we can no longer see the HUD which didnt happen in the first version so it makes it impossible to fly from the behind aircraft view.

Good game but its not getting updates.

Where is the Reentry scenario that has been promised?

A lot of fun if you want to glide a shuttle from 20,000 feet ONLY. The creator has not made the ability to come in from orbit. Like the shuttle. It will def be worth it if re-entry ever comes out..

The game is fun and looks interesting but Im having a problem when trying to use tilt. It keeps pausing the simulation and tells us to hold the device upright which we were already doing and even if we set it down and then pick it up again it doesnt work. We want to experience this game again but we cant if the tilt isnt working.

There might be a little improvement in options but that is overshadowed by the new interface. The original loaded fast and was clean and easy to setup. The new one takes so long to load that we frequently give up and move on. Not near worth the moneystick with the original.

We can stop asking about it. Just like that X-15 sim that vanished without a trace, so has this. If were lucky, it might come in the next full release but it is not coming as the update as was claimed well over a year ago. Sorry guys. Wake up and smell the coffee.

No matter how you land the orbiter, it never Rewards you with a decent score. No matter how perfect you land it always says crash landing or hard landing. We cant believe we paid for this crappy game. We were expecting so much better.

This game is good but needs some work to be done when it comes to realism and the re-entry phase.

Have had this app for over a year. Still no updates from Developer to fly the Re-entry.

We really wanted to love this update of F-sim as it has some great additions that the old version did not, like great graphics. However two things have ruined the experience. 1. The SAS is not fine tuned, as it should assist in making the aircraft inputs smoother, and give the pilot more finite control. However we find it hard to understand how an aircraft operating at near stall speed 214-226 mph on final with SAS is able to climb and pitch the nose so much. SAS should prevent that very thing from happening. Also, the flight model is not consistent with the old version, this version has the shuttle feeling sporty if not too responsive. 2. The developer responded in an earlier review that there are many ways to get in touch with us, writing a bad review is not one of them. Wow, what way to respond. A customer purchased your game, supported you, offered critique on a valid format on apples review system, which is a valid way to reach a developer and he got that type of response. Well then just you wait and see what kind of review we give this on our channel on YouTube. Also consider getting out of the software development industry if you cannot understand customer feedback comes in all forms. That said, we have been fortunate to have careers in both aviation and game development, both have reminded us of one thing, your customer is the life blood of your business, period and you owe your customer an apology. After reading the developer response that our review is both misleading and uninformed we chose to update our review. We understand the SAS our be turned off, we also understand fully how the systems work and they are designed to improve dynamic stability yet the developer decided to double down on telling a customer they are wrong. To put it bluntly, we have flown jets, as well as helicopters for more then a decade and in no instance has SAS acted in the manner implemented in this game. The arrogance of the developer is however a direct reflection of their inability to handle criticism at any level.

We dont recommend this game to anyone, every time we land its always a crash landing, like come on already, Nextly this game takes way too much storage on your device, literally 1.4 GB, Nextly you are paying 4.99 for this game as well, and all you do is just fly around, we wouldnt recommend this game at all.

Game quickly wears thin with repeated voice callouts that rapidly become obnoxious. The voice repeats and repeats in the same way for the rest of the time you play this game. It isnt standard checklist callouts, it is maddening, obnoxious repetition. Will hopefully be greatly improved with re-entry addition.

No update gets boring and is 5 bucks for looking at the earth and landing bad you cant even explore space.

Ok we have never given a game a one star rating before but this is just ridiculous. All you do in this game is tilt the screen and follow a square on your hud ….. Thats it, cant fly around freely, cant explore, its extremely linear ….. And they charge you money for it. Maybe we just dont get all the other good reviews, maybe theyre nasa nerds, maybe theyre bots, we would give it a 3 for sound and graphics if it were free but Im going to be honest, we feel ripped off . We would take this review away for a refund of our money, but until then , people dont waste your money….

We had the first version of this sim on every iPhone/iPad we’ve ever owned since 2010. The long awaited second edition is just as good as the first, plus better graphics! A must have for any Space Shuttle enthusiast or sim nerd.

We were a long time user of the original f-sim and this new version is a fantastic update. The graphics are stunning and the performance is great even on our iPhone XR and 2017 iPad Pro. But the heart of this sim is realism. It flies like the Shuttle, with all the fun challenges that entails. You wont get bored trying to hit the perfect landing and, if you become a total expert, theres always weather and failures to add an extra challenge. Also, fellow space nerds will appreciate that this version adds White Sands as a landing site.

Beautiful visuals and entertaining game play.

Best space shuttle landing sim game ever.

Graphics and Physics Are AMAZING!

The original is much better. This one is far too touchy on the controls and the aircraft behaves more like a twitchy jet fighter than the flying brick it was. Turning down the sensitivity really doesnt; it just slows the rate of response which isnt helpful at all. Graphics are nice but so were the old ones. Just not worth it in this state. We wouldnt recommend it.

After waiting and waiting for this release, the new app leaves a lot to be desired. Unlike the original which was streamlined with gorgeous views and easy-to-use controls, the new one’s lack of core features makes you go crazy. There is no way to turn off the HUD and we spent nearly ten frustrating minutes trying to figure how to no avail. There are three scenarios to choose from: 1. Standard landing, same as the original except this one is a heck of a lot more touchy and next to impossible to properly stabilize the orbiter. 2. Intra-space, you start upside down and just hanging about doing nothing. There are no controls, nothing. 3. To be released. We think it is relatively easy to sum up this release and why we rated it 1/5. Oh, and the app is over 1 GB in size.
