FF IV: THE AFTER YEARS Reviews

Please add controller support.

We just bought a new Sony backbone to play final fantasy on our phone and it does not support. It does support other final fantasy just not this one. All we really play is street fight and final fantasy. We would love to play this one without missing most of the game because Im to busy fingering our screen.

The game is amazing but needs controller support.

Option to external controller like FF3.

This thing is great! We often remote into our PlayStation to play games, it would be cool if you did support for the final fantasy games in the App Store though. Either way, solid product!

Love it all, but please, add controller support!

Please allow controller support for this game.

As many other reviews have noted, this game needs controller support. Im hoping that since theyve recently updated it and other games, it may be on the agenda. But considering 4, 5, 6, 7, and 9 all have controller support, this, 3, and the first two need it as well.

This would be much more enjoyable if you could use a controller for it.

For how much Square-Enix charges for the mobile ports of their games, they should be able to have controller support.

Please add controller support.

Please include controller support.

How about.. Some. Controller. SUPPORT!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you.

Please enable the use of the original SNES music. Not a single musical track from the 3D version was better than the original. Not one. Id much rather have the option of switching to the original FFIV music. If possible Id also rather have original sprites, as the 3D was not an improvement with the FFIV world.

Old school game should be played the classic way.

We guess we’re stupid, we went and bought this game before confirming that it had gamepad support. At this point would prefer a refund.

So we’ve got ff iv on our iPad but didnt get the tails thats false advertising until its fixed Im giving this a one star rating.

These addons should be apart of some bundle if need be for Data takes up space. We dont see any reason they shouldnt be Free. If they do cost something, besides FFIV ORIGINAL, a discount towards something else as the content was already made. (Edit: Will upgrade our STAR RATING FOR APP to 5* ONCE WE GET IT ALL, we love Final Fantasy IV & TAY just not watered down crApp Store) Actually maybe Ill check to see if Android has a complete version instead. Thats right APPLE – youre gonna lose customers bc your games are partial versions. Blame them or SqEnix we cant tell. Its 2022 now – JUST GIVE US THE COMPLETE GAME!!!

Controller support ffiv after years, pleas.

Please have all the final fantasy on the backbone controller.

Love the whole series. FF4 just happens to be our most cherished of them all so this was a no brainer for us. Loved it. Bands are great! The bonus dungeons at the end of each chapter are beyond awesome… Wait, maybe thats the Wii version but anyhow we played them both! Loved how you got to revisit stuff EXCEPT for the Waterway between Damcyan Castle and Kaipo. Having to go through there sooooooooooo many times became a real chore. Other than that, the story needed alittle more depth but great if your a fan like us!

This game was certainly a very very mysterious one to say the least. The way that the story line is set up is genius. Being able to pick and choose between different characters and their individual stories and seeing how they all intertwine with one another to the end is brilliant. And by far the strongest part of this sequel is the mind blowing story line. Although we must say that we were very much intrigued by the incredibly mysterious approach they took with the structuring, it got to be a little frustrating after 40+ hours of gameplay and you still don’t know what the blazes is going on! But at the very last moment of the game every finally comes to a head, and we would have to say it’s the biggest revelation in all of FF history, making it all worth it. Other that the slightly weak gameplay in comparison to the others, it was an amazing experience and we highly recommend it. EVERY Final Fantasy fan needs this piece of the story puzzle.

This is an awesome sequel! Someone spent a lot of time and made the locations on the game very similar to what they were in the first part of the game. We love knowing what happened to the characters in the previous story. It is one of the best written stories of the series.

We are enjoying this version of Final Fantasy IV The after Years, although the absence of The Challenge Dungeons makes it harder and more tedious to level grind outside The Crystals portion of the game. Still, its pretty good. Plus, the graphics were really good.

It’s almost perfect! But there is ONE FATAL FLAW Luca crashes the game.

We’ve had this for almost a year now and we absolutely love it to no end. We just wish that there was an iCloud saving feature. It’d be perfect since we’re gonna get an iPad soon and what better way to play it than on a much bigger screen.

As much as we enjoy the original SquareSoft work, the rest of these reviews are correct. No cloud saving, So when we want to play on lunch on our iPhone 6, new game. SquareEnixs 3rd party needs to go back and fix this app.

This game is amazing. The story is deep, the characters are unique(except for maybe Ceodore. Literally just a cardboard cutout of Cecil. Still love him!), and the new moon phases are great! We actually have one problem though, its not taking any stars, but it is bugging us, why is there no voice acting? FF4 hat it, and it made us feel like the game was reality, gave it more flavor. Plus we’ve always wanted to know what Ceodore sounds like…

Before we got this game we had heard some bad things about it, but when our brother got it, we watched it for a bit and he told us about it. A lot of spoilers were said, but when we finally got it, it was frustrating. Ceodores tale is really hard and we were having a lot of trouble. But after that, the game expands into something grand. If you like final fantasy then get this game. IT IS GREAT!!!!

Just finished the after years and while the beginning of the game can be meh, getting to the crystals makes it more interesting. A lot of random encounters and bosses that can 1-2 hit and can kill you. RIP. Large character selection and bands. Would recommend if youre final fantasy fan, if not Id start with final fantasy IV.

This game is amazing and we had a lot of fun playing it. We played both this version and the wii ware version. We totally prefer this. True the challenge dungeons are gone, but all the items from them can be bought in The Crystals chapter. Right outside the lunar whale. As far as not being at a high level. You can buy 5 level bands and gain levels in no time at all to catch up. Had no crashing issues what so ever. Playing on iOS 8 with an iPhone 6 Plus. Highly recommended to all FF IV fans.

We like the game. It is very interesting. Our only problem is what looks like a bug involving Calca, Brina, and Luca where Dance and most Jives attacks keep landing on Luca, even though Dance is suppose to work on all party members and Jive is supposed to only target enemies. Can you figure out what the problem is?

We first played Final Fantasy 4 on our Nintendo Ds and loved it. We’re a dedicated PS4 player and play a lot of FF XV,FF VI. One day we were scrolling through the AppStore looking for something to play in our car. We then stumbled upon FF 4: The After Years, we bought it instantly. We don’t play mobile games, but this game was the exception. We sold our Ds many years ago and we now feel our phone is the replacement for it. The graphics are also really good and crisp,so that’s great. (playing games on our phone is a guilty pleasure)

If you completed FF4 and loved it , then this game is a must have. We’re honestly enjoying it more than FF4. The story is on point, and even better we’re having no problems with the game crashing at all. Can’t wait to see more of what square enix has to offer… Maybe FF7 .. Or even a kingdoms hearts game? We’re kidding :p… Keep up the good work square enix, ^_^

Seriously, why couldn’t SE add the cameo bosses?

Seeing how its been 5 years since the last software update. U really need to make this game play with Bluetooth controller support. Especially work with the analog controls. Its the purpose to play games mobile Like this is work with controllers. If possibly please had Bluetooth support and analog controller. Too and the regular FF4.

Played "Yang’s Tale" but didn’t finish; the save point we used in the game went away after hours of playing when we tried to open the game again. It reappeared after we reloaded it for some reason. Not a deal breaker, but disconcerting. There is much to love about this game, and it verges on interactive fiction, which emphasizes the storyline over the martial prowess of characters. Storyline is clever, kind of reminds us of Saga Frontier (in that you get to play several different characters, but with better graphics). Square Enix unfortunately has recently been following the lead of more notorious companies by suffocating the genre with IAPs. We hope they change this, because to many fans of this genre, that IS a deal-breaker.

We loved the initial release on WiiWare and loved this 3D remake. Just wish theyd fix the screen size issues for larger phones and add mFi controller support.

This not only should have included all the bonus dungeons and bosses from previous versions of this title, they should also include the prequel episode FF4 Interlude. Not sure why anyone would want to buy a mobile game that has LESS content than much older versions. This game is incomplete and much too short.

But can you add support to MFI joystick like the rest of all your games? Funny how it works fine on the original FF4 but not this one…

Btw what is 16bit support? Great game pretty much in every way. Some things missing tho :(

Would love to see this get an update similar to FF4 recently. Controller support and full screen are desperately needed in 2021, and this game looks to be on the same engine as its predecessor. Please dont ignore this gem!

Update this, PLEASE!! Come on! We paid money for this game! We can’t STAND this "free" crap that’s coming out nowadays! We want quality games that you only have to pay for once! It’s been 2 years, UPDATE the App!!!!!

Every other remade Final Fantasy game on the iOS store has controller support. This is the only exception. Even the game before this (Final Fantasy IV) had the majority of the controller support, the analog stick support was the only thing missing, same for FF III. We extremely dislike using touchscreen controls and expected Bluetooth controller support for this game just as it is supported on your other Final Fantasy games for iOS. We will update our review and add 5 stars if the controller support is added.

Sound does not work at all on our iPhone XR, iOS 14.3. Sound settings are on, and our sound is not on mute. Please fix. Also please adjust screen size for modern phones.

So good. We have been a long time FFIV fan. So glad to play through this. A good challenge. Had to grind a little at the end but well worth it.
