This game lives up to the franchises legacy!!! Amazing graphics!!! Super fast gameplay!!! Cant wait to see how the story unfolds.
We genuinely enjoy this game, otherwise we wouldnt keep playing it. It only takes a few minutes to remember why we take breaks from the game though: fix the ads. We shouldnt have to restart the game because watching one of the ads to get energy or bonus items locks the game. It would be no issue if it was a rare occurrence but its every 1/3 or 2/3 video ads forces us to have to restart the app, which just leaves us asking why restart it when we could just delete it and play something else? Aside from that issue, the game itself is great, phenomenal story, f2p friendly if you offput the ads issue and has great freedom to try out new teams and characters on a regular basis.
Dont use the in app purchases for this game. We have been overcharged twice now. We bought a 39.99 viz pack and it charged us 79.99.
We really love this game, but it would be so much better with controller support.

We really like the main story and the many many subplots. Really well done and good character development and always keeps you on your toes. However, the game is a full on money grab and Gumi is a horrible developer. A lot of the combat is extremely unbalanced and all the pay to win stuff is so expensive. Some UR characters are 10000 paid visiore to be guaranteed, which is basically $200. PVP is dominated by whales who seem to have unlimited budgets. We think the entire combat and gear system needs a rebalance and Gumi should be replaced by someone who can offer everyone a better experience and provide actual customer support.
Wheres the epic political-focused story people are talking about? We got like five or ten minutes of story that doesnt explain anything and then they throw a million summons and overly explainy tutorials at us. We dont know about or care about any of these people Im summoning, and the tutorials are just so wildly immersion breaking because they have absolutely no story integration. The combat is cool but thats, like, it.
Treating long time customers like crap.. Spending 36k Visiore and not receive a unit this includes the purchase bonus. Black balling accounts from receiving all the new units giving us shards for units from year 1 that no one uses anymore and not even usable in guild battle due to power creep.. Is some of the many things Gumi is doing don’t download this game very evil practices.
There are reasons why this game, and its parent company Square-Enix, is floundering despite having access to a timeless and classic franchise- Final Fantasy. Greed $$$, lack of quality content, and extremely poor gameplay mechanics. Content creators are abandoning this game. Player base is diminishing each month. And what does Gumi, the devs, do? Try and milk the remaining Whales instead of listening to its dwindling fan base and making meaningful improvements. This game is a waste of time. There are far superior mobile Gacha games out there, with better visuals, storytelling/dialogue, and gameplay that are more deserving of your time and money.
Literally cant install any of the whopping 3900mb to begin with. Just stops at 4mb in. Garbage game, garbage devs, garbage app.
Remember that these games all stem from the idea of the final fantasy. That final fantasy.
This game has steadily improved with several QoL enhancements. The value per dollar is steadily declining but its not outrageous as the drop rates for summons are quite elevated sometimes you will pull two units on a collab on one summon, like we just did. Notwithstanding, there is quite a lot to do and the story is captivating after chapter one. The pvp segment is being improved and expanded with both community and company sponsored events. Its worth playing but it does start off slow. This game can be challenging and require you to play manually if you are seeking to obtain specific titles and/or quest rewards.

We’ve noticed when the game updates we usually have to uninstall the game and install all patches back just to even open the game on our phone. We have a newer phone so it shouldnt be an issue. The game just refuses to open anytime theres a update thats been installed.
Im hooked!!! Loved the ps1 FF tactics game sooo much when we were a young man.. Spent several hundred hours on that one. Im a couple of hours into this FF, and plan on several hundred more!! Thanks guys!! Love it.
Havent had to spend a dime. Got Tidus, Yuna, Auron for free, along with tons of free currency. Excellent story, gameplay, and music. There is so much to do, it can be a bit overwhelming until you learn it all, but once you do, itd easy to sink hours and hours into this game. Side note: Knight statue xp is bugged when skipping all. It subtracts xp instead of adding it.
Any game developed for iPhone is playable on M1 macs yet companies lock is out. Its just dumb, people use emulators all the time but playing natively on an M1 is forbidden. Any game that we cant download to our M1 is instantly getting a 1 star review.
Can you put a controller support?
Great but for some sudden reason it keeps sending us to the home screen whenever we try playing it please fix.
We’ve been playing this game since launch and the community is great and the game is phenomenal but the greed $$$ is burning the trust of the players and making people shut their wallets. Gumi needs to listen to the community if it wants to keep people playing or new players joining Gumi needs to make people WANT to spend money. Give us more pack H and pack F. Do BETTER packs than those packs. Make dolphins want to be whales for a week. Make minnows want to be dolphins and make F2P players WANT to spend a dollar. The normal visiore packs are just there for whales or to try to make a quick buck off a player who isnt going to stick around. Thats not sustainable. There is no healthy "middle class". Its just whale milking. Gumi needs to SLOW DOWN the release of the 100 cost units. This goes along with the idea of fostering a healthy middle class in the game. After September they need to chill. Gumi needs to have discounted banners for old units, especially old collab units. (get those F2P players excited about pulling for their boy cecil, or Cloud, or ramza… Yknow the characters they like from FF titles that are timelocked for no reason?) There ya go Gumi, just did more for you than whatever business school genius sold you on the tiktok collab.
We have played numerous times over the years as we love more tactical style games like this but this now is likely one of the most frustrating games to even try to play. They do weekly updates, sounds good right? Not when every time you try to log on they are fixing some bug that refuses to load properly when off WiFi. Every time we try to log in anymore Im assaulted with an hour plus of updates which when we see we just close the game. The community is dying and a bit toxic (I have met some decent people they arent all bad) Growing your characters is time consuming which would be fine but the drop rates are crap so if you want to have a good chance at them you have to pay to get them and to power them up. Bottom line we dont suggest this game unless you are desperate to watch loading screens and have months of building 1 character just to have them not even be at their best. Ohh and now the ap closes every time we try and open it before even doing anything.
New players be warned. Since couple of patches in 2023, theres clearly a marketing strategy in play to setup price traps to boost revenue. The details of the changes are so complex that its difficult for veteran players to put it into words. Many games charge lots of money, but the way this game is setup, it requires players to pay extra attention on each resource they spend in the game so they wont get tricked into a bad deal. It makes the experience extremely stressful to go through and it felt like the developers know they can do it because they can rely on final fantasy nostalgia to earn revenue. The game play saw very minimal changes, instead focuses on areas that gets players excited to pull for units that cost money without offering any new additional contents. Just check out the WOTV community posts to learn about what happened, and youll just see a lot of angry cap letters.
The new update has a problem with downloading it when finished it has a error message and makes us redownload again and still shows the error message there no problem with memory we have plenty of room on our iPhone.
They made a mess for the latest patch with FF5. They secretly removed lots of things in the game and made the game much more expensive for in game experience. The development team made really bad decisions recently. We dont know if this game will last long if they continue doing this.
The game is great but the fact that after ever update you have to download the patch file five or more times before you get a good download is NOT GREAT!
The game is awesome, in-game currency generous and the story and gameplay are both beautiful in their own right. However, reporting individual errors is incredibly convoluted and writing a review detailing it is the only way to explain it without going through cookie-cutter options by ZenDesk which wont cover it. >The game has been crashing quite often on our iPhone 8SE since the latest update, causing us to lose out on log-in bonuses and unable to assist our guild. >Ive reverted to previous update to complete the newest update process again with the same results. The fun of this game is maxing out your characters (units) and equipment. There is an interesting story and a lot of variation in ways you can play. This game is really fun at first, but the longer you play, the more materials you need to level up units and equipment without any way to really get those materials except either grinding for weeks or paying the ridiculously high prices for paid visiore- Who is paying $40 for just 2,000 visiore (one random chance of getting something in a summon or one chest or mediocre materials) or 80 unit shards (not enough for a level jumps which are often 120 for multiple level upgrades)? Initially they give you a lot, but its to create the desire to have the same quick progress later. Without paying exorbitant amounts or grinding for weeks on auto play for incremental, slow progress, your characters stagnate and you start to lose interest. Id definitely recommend the developers minimize required materials for unit and equipment progress, increase drop rates, and significantly lower the prices for paid items so that it feels worth the price.
Would give it 5 stars any day of the week but that Addison Rae crap no stars if possible.
We love this game! The rewards, the gameplay and everything else about it.
Love the game, but the touchscreen movement and controls can be really tedious to use in battle. Controller support would move this from one of our regular games to the top game we play.
The good: The story is enjoyable, with continuous expansion of chapters. The music seems fitting as well. The bad: Gameplay. The mechanics are mostly there, but saddled by AI reliance for much of the content. In addition, it is extremely difficult to get past certain combat walls without learning closely-guarded secrets from top competitive guilds. In turn, they maintain their dominance and reap the rewards every time, leaving most players in the dust. Lots of important nuances about equipment/synergy stats and AI behavior is gatekept in this manner. The grind for gear and character shards is also painfully slow. It can take half a year or longer (usually longer) for many items and characters to be completed. The ugly: The monetization strategy of this game. In addition to high mechanic skill required to play at a relevant rating, you need to constantly buy up each unit and card that is released. Gumi releases new characters and cards on a weekly basis, making this aimed squarely toward whales. The gap between f2p or low-ish amount spent per month and being able to keep up with competition is a wide chasm. Lots of players try to cope with it but it is alarming. And finally, there are lots of scam items and buttons in the in-game shops where you can quite easily accidentally spend visiore (in-game currency) on completely worthless packs or gauge refills. They hope you misclick on them and burn it away. This is horrifying. We have played for over a year and was spending at a comparatively high rate, but we are financially and motivationally exhausted and cant keep doing this on a daily basis for hours and dollars a day. Dont spend your money here as the game and companies are extremely greedy. This will be by far one of the most expensive games to play.
Pay to win pay to stay relevant predatory game with terrible customer service. Dont retool to up their player count because its against terms of service if you keep multiple accounts or play them!

Super awesome fun, true to the feeling you expect with awesome soundtrack. Very generous game never feels like need to pay for anything but want to because of how giving the game is. Can be overwhelming at first, definitely a casual gamer dream.
Best gatcha tactics rpgs for your phone.
The game used to be very tedious and still is super grindy but with the past year of quality of life updates, its more enjoyable. You can finally play with your favorite units and beat the stages once and then after if you need to farm, you can just use the auto play during background option, which saves time, phone battery, and skip tickets. The gacha has been easier to get new units with their pity system thats ever been so slowly evolving since the beginning. Now we get a few tickets for each new banner, free shards, and sometimes even free multis. Not to mention all the new style extra gift rolls like the 9 step up banner for units and the 5 step up banner vision card guaranteed that usually follows the unit afterwards. They had also shortened dailies and made things easier. But for the hardcore players and enthusiasts, there is still much to do like the tmr system and the highly new level 140 system. For the casuals like us, do all the fun stuff that you can and auto background play the rest. The game has too much to talk about but if your new they do give you free units to bring you up to speed. There a bug when trying to dollar the data for new players. It says failed and we’ve tried like 4 times.
Do you enjoy gacha games that make you tap through countless menus to find and improve stats? Get a kick out of not actually playing the game but putting it on Auto, especially to grind? Does grinding nonstop for thousands upon thousands of units to increase a stat by TINY bit bring you joy? Do you prefer improbably dressed women and emotionally stunted men unable to communicate? Then this game is for you! The fun comes from the few times it makes more sense for you to manually command your team. Or the nostalgia of seeing FF series characters reimagined into the games mechanics.
The game is solid but theres frequent updates and system maintenances (e.g. 150-300+MB download each time). As a result, one often has to wait for particularly long time and blow up the phone bills if you happen to be traveling without Wi-Fi access.
Every time we try to update when its finished it tells us theres corrupted files and we need to download the whole update again and again.
Played since launch, spent hundreds, account crashed and locked the other day and their customer service said they cant help us. They referred us to Facebook support thinking theyd be able to help us better, then closed our ticket. Never give square a dime.

Game works fine for a week or so, then wont start. Only way to fix is delete and reinstall. Doing so temporarily fixes it, but also have to redo all settings and redownload all data. Please fix your app.
For even considering a collab with Addison Rae the woman doesnt even play final fantasy, make it make sense.
