FINAL FANTASY VII Reviews

The graphics are obviously not as polished as today’s games, but this game is so well put together for an RPG. Thank you for finally bringing this game to iOS.

Everything works perfect and we love that we can play our favorite game of all time on our phone!!!

This game is awesome and brings back memories to when we played it on the PlayStation. So many reviews about the controls being frustrating, but it’s actually not a big deal at all. We use analog mode and it works fine. We would take caution when going from the game app to other apps, especially if not resuming game play asap, because sometimes it triggers the game to reset to the title screen, but just make sure to save before exiting the app and there’s nothing to worry about. The only issue we have is a little glitch where, when in the highwind cabin and talking to the pilot to take off, the screen goes black for some time just to bring us back to the same cabin screen, where we’ll have to talk to the pilot again… And then it takes us to the map screen where we can fly around. We wonder if this can be fixed with the next update. Awesome game.

We liked that they made a mobile edition. But cmon add the eighth one already Square Enix.

This port it great we love it so much, however the world map has some serious lag that cannot be fixed, but there’s one trick is to go to the menu and go out, it will reduce the lag a little but not much. Please fix the world map lag it’s really the only downside for us. We love this port we loveeee it.

We just have to say that we grew up playing the final fantasy games and 7 was one of the ones we just loved to play. You guys did such a great job! We cant thank you enough for making this game on iOS and for letting us relive those childhood memories! Im always on the go so this is a great way for us to just relax and enjoy the game when we need to take our mind off the world. We just want to say though we really wish you guys can someday soon be able to bring Final Fantasy VIII onto iOS as well! To be able to have both those games would be a Fantasy come true! Thanks again for all you guys have given! ~Forever A Fan~

Can the developer please enable the folder on the app.

Thank you for bringing back fond memories of watching our dad play this game as a child. We were so enthralled in the story, the characters, and of course, the unforgettable music.

We mean for real she got some raging gazonga bongos.

Been waiting 20 years to play this game on something handheld. Finally!! Never has a video game captured our imagination or our heart like FF7 has. Well worth the price. Don’t listen to any haters. It’s an excellent port. Not only can you transfer your save with iCloud. There’s an auto-save feature as well. After finding out that the upcoming remake is going to be released episodically, and using an action-style battle system, this may turn out to be our consolation prize.

We’ve played the PlayStation version and it is awesome! But we broke it! But when we heard it was available on mobile devices,I FREAKED!!!! They transferred it from PlayStation to our IPhone.A few changes in words but the story line is still the same! (Also on our iPhone there is a glitch in the Underwater Reactor. When we get out of a battle it gets dark, like, really dark) Otherwise plz buy this outstanding game by SquareSoft!

The only thing we have to say negatively is a glitch we found at the Don’s mansion. When we talked to The guard, Aeria would not talk to us. We had to restart the whole game to get past the point. Otherwise this is a great port of the best RPG of all time.

Still worthy of 5 stars for a few reasons although there were a couple minor "cosmetic glitches" that we’ll point out at the end of this review. First, the ability to seemlessly switch between analog or d-pad control, the major graphical improvements over the original PC version we grew up with 20+ years ago, and how fluid the game play was on our iPhone SE were all high points. The game looks amazing compared to the original versions. We only played it on PC prior to this and had to use the clunky arrow keys back then to navigate. The analog control was perfect for moving around, the D-pad option was perfect for menus and battles. Then for entering the safe combination to acquire Vincent, switching to D-pad is necessary and quite doable. ICloud saving is a great addition. Auto saving is probably a great addition for new players but we never used it once in our 90 hours of playtime so far. We were disapproving of the "encounters off" button at first, but once we got to a certain point it became useful for toggling on to avoid the random counters when revisiting areas with low level encounters. We disapprove of the "max stats" button as we fear that new players will potentially abuse it early on and ruin the experience entirely. We think that using this feature at ANY point in the game is just shameful and thus pretended the option did not exist. Now for the minor "cosmetic glitches" 1) The Highwind glitch where you tell the pilot to fly, and instead of the screen going black and transferring to the world map like usual, it occasionally goes black and transfers right back into the Highwind. Simply talking to the pilot again takes you to the world map to fly around just fine. This glitch doesn’t happen every time and not even very often, and never twice in a row, but still a minor nuisance. 2) Don’t know why but in the main room for chocobo race registration, there is a slight bit of lag / low fps. It’s not that bad and not a big deal, it’s the only place in the game where this happens and luckily you’re not really moving around when you’re in this room, but still worth mentioning. 3) A few times during our playthrough while navigating the overworld, the screen flickered black very briefly. Hardly noticeable and if we blinked we could have missed it, but still worth mentioning. But that’s it. This was amazing and amazing looking port. Controls and visuals were both smooth and clean, even on the iPhone SE with it’s tiny screen. Worth every penny!

This is one of the best games of all time and now in our pocket! We only wish it allowed the use of the entire screen for controls and included a nice border. Also, it would be great if the time, power, connection icons would move to the top of the screen in the new border instead of staying on in the top of the phone position.

This game , from the storyline to the sound, is a masterpiece.

Just wondering how come the unlimited limit break command isnt in this final fantasy VII version like it is in the PS4 version.

We find it smooth for a port, and it is very fun. We enjoy it so far.

A great port from the original. A few graphical glitches but that’s to be expected from a port. If you want to begin a game in the RPG or final fantasy franchise, then this game is for you. The only things we have to warn you about is if you like simple plots, this final fantasy game is not for you. In our opinion, it is our current favorite game. We can’t wait for the HD remake!

We love this game. Cant wait for remake.

We do not feel like we wasted a single penny. This was on of our first rpgs outside of Zelda and truly shaped our love for the genre. The game plays exactly like the console they even added a few extras like auto save in world map. We have had no issues with crashing freezing or much lag at all. We have seen a lot of reviews on here complaining about the game not auto saving when you lock your phone. We do not see this as a complaint. If they were to add this is would add a cheat that would allow the player to bypass part of the games challenge which is wrong. We agree it can be frustrating but this is not a casual play game while you gf runs into the store real fast. You need to sit down and treat it like a console game and set real time to play so you can find save points when you can. Overall we have no complaints we love it. We wish this app had 5 stars it deserves it.

Don’t really expect to find something new or innovative about this port of a port. The reason we’re giving this 5 stars is because we LOVE this game as a whole and the iOS port did nothing to damage that. The controls are smooth, the slightly visual enhancements are noticeable, and it brings with it all of the nostalgia you would expect. The boosters are a nice touch for those who’ve beaten the game before and would just like a trip down memory lane a few times. DO NOT USE BOOSTERS ON YOUR FIRST PLAY THROUGH!!!! Just experience what the game has to offer if it’s your first time.

There seems to be a problem with the volume, is anyone having this problem? Never ours found the problem we pressed the little side button that muted the sound.

First off, there was no auto saving mechanic in the original. Doubt he actually played the ps1 version. Auto saving in fact would make it too easy. Its apart of the game to save where you are able to get to. Pretty much every final fantasy game. Game is great. Story is very well written with points very well connected. Gameplay is great. Of course playing on mobile port, you have little annoyances such as the layout and small bugs here and there. Otherwise, this game is perfect in every way.

We were a huge fan of this game growing up and having it on our phone is awesome. Honestly we still haven’t even beat it but this game offers so many hours of fun and yeah it gets frustrating but that’s the fun of it. 10/10 great game and love having it on the phone. The controls on some parts are a little hard and kind of restrict you but it’s on a phone what can you expect. Any ways great game worth the money for hours of fun.

We were played before on ps1 and psp but now played again on iPhone and works very good. We guess it has better graphics than old psx. We were able to complete the whole game after about 3 months playing and we did not face any bug while playing. Autosave is very nice option too.

An epic classic storyline! Worth it. Controls are alright, but the story mode that allows veterans to play their beloved story without grinding exp is a wet dream for anyone from the 90s. Get this game.

What an experience played through the whole game just like the original on our PS1 played pretty flawless yes there is no auto save feature however the original also did not have an auto save feature. The controls could be a bit better but overall our whole game experience was great If you miss playing the FF7 everyone loves but don’t want to bust out the dusty playstation look no further this will definitely keep you glued to your phone all day!

This is such a great game. We still have our PlayStation version and this version is just as good! We really love the max stats option, so you don’t have to go through and level up if you don’t want to. If there was a Max Materia option, it would be even better! Still 5-star worthy though!

For those complaining about saving the game just stop. This game was ported over exactly as the original. If you don’t have time to spare in this game then don’t buy. There are save spots throughout the game which require grinding to get to and we like it that way. Original is always better :)

We honestly don’t have any idea why people are getting so fed up about the mobile version of ff7. It’s actually one of the best ports we’ve played. Sure it does cost you quite a sum of money and it needs a lot of space but those are the only problems we don’t like, and they’re not even that big of a problem. The gameplay is just as it was as on the pc and PlayStation version. We would definitely recommend this game to anyone :). P.S The controls are NOT garbage :D.

People wine that there isn’t auto saving. But this game never had it. It creates challenge to require you to save. It would be nice for a faster form of saving but it still works great.

Our favorite game of all time works on our iPad with a Bluetooth controller. We’re having a great time playing.

True port of the PC version. They have a 360 digital control which works great, updated from the original directional pad style. In confit you can enable auto save which is turned off by default. No crashes. Just don’t flip your screen too often it will cause issues. Overall, most/all of the original complaints have been addressed. Is an old game worth the $17 sticker price? We thought so, but honestly it’s a gauge. But then again, 20 hours in and having a blast on the go!

We never played ff7 on the ps1. We only played it on ios. Its an amazing game. Worth the price. We’ve beaten it twice on our phone.

As mentioned in the title its a great game we’ve played it on almost every platform its come out on and loved it every single time however we just here recently played it on the ps4 and it completely ruined it on any other console and not for the reason youre thinking it was indeed the original not the sorry excuse of a remake its the 3x speed option it makes everything so much easier and much less time consuming so Id really love if yall could figure out a way to make that happen if not Ill still play the game of course we just dont have much time to sit there and grind away on random battles and the like to max out our materias or build up money and experience so itll take a much much longer time so yeah Id love to see a 3x speed option please.

FFVII running clean on iOS. Too dope with the Gamevice.

Final fantasy 7 is our all time favorite, can’t wait for the remake series. Only thing we think could be fixed is controller scheme. Final fantasy 9’s (mobile) controls are way less clunky then the emulation styler controls on this game. Other wise thanks for the PC port. Just waiting for the most emotional final fantasy for us now (FF8, but definitely needs a graphic revamp).

The port is okay. We’ve seen no issues.

Use no encounter button and max stats in configuration. Youll basically kill anything and fly thru the game.

Hello everyone! :) we don’t see the issues you all are complaining about in this port. What did you expect? A remake of the game for iOS? If you did, then you’re really out of touch with technology for having an IPhone or iPad. This is FFVII in all its PS1 glory, which is PERFECT. Yeah we have some issues with moving and camera angles, but you’re moving from a controller to everything being done on a touch screen. What did you really expect?? Indicators? Wha? We didn’t have those back then why do you need them now? Auto save? We didn’t have those in ps1 days, why do we need it now? You save every chance you get, or you strategize when to save. It’s a part of the game. This game is 20 years old. We mean it was part of the strategy, look at resident evil, if you run out of ink ribbons you’re screwed. So the question is, why did you expect anything different when it says right on there it is a PORT? In the end this IS FFVII in all its glory, with all the bosses and secrets. It is a perfect game. What more do you want?

Really in joying replaying this classic from our childhood and just hope to she a iPhone X update.

We have this new phone with new icloud but same appstore account. We cant access our old icloud account and thats where all our files are . How can we transfer them? We dont want to start all over again please help.

Wow, just wow, amazing game, it took us nearly forever to beat, but it was so worth it! The bosses, characters, places you could go, fantastic, now we finally see why people call this, "the greatest game ever made" and we’ll agree! This took the place of our all time favorite game. Overthrowing Ocarina of time and majora’s mask (which were tied for first). Our favorite game in the series. Considering it’s the only one we’ve beaten. So many plot twists and side quests, it’s a lot to put in one game, but it’s so fun! To anybody reading this now or in the future, we really recommend this game. 10 out of 10.
