Community Insight:
Having a blast with the game but it can use some changes. One thing id change is during the voting phase, everyone has a vote already placed by default. This makes people think they are getting voted by someone without them actually voting for the person and influences peoples decisions. Hide peoples votes until they actually choose someone.
Honestly, we thought it was gonna be a cash grab for nintendo, but genuinely it caught us by surprise! Good game tbh.
Game is very very simple and easy to understand, the game is a 2v1 fighter that takes place in turns, each side has a designated attacking phase and has the ability to use spells every 5 seconds (depending on the spells you use sometimes less), games go by very fast with the main goal of kill everyone or find out who tried to kill you in the first phase without dying on the 2nd phase. Id compare it to dead by daylight but you actually get to fight back, also the tutorial sucks and does not adequately teach you how to play the game and drags on for too long, the battlepass is essentially just more stuff to do daily, and if you miss the character in one you can always get them at a later date for free (their drops are insanely rare so you will have to buy them off the market) also the game has a player run economy that is active enough that you should be able to afford most of the non new bp characters, they also from time to time give out free characters in the story. Overall as a long time fire emblem fan we love it, we wish there was more to do and thats really our only complaint.
After playing this game for like 4 hours hours straight, we can deduce that we like it. We think the story is interesting, we like the characters, and a lot of people were saying how they dont like the combat. We actually enjoyed. However, we did not enjoy how expensive those orb things are. If you want to buy 1 outfit for a character, its 150 orbs. And the 200 orbs option is 7.99! Correct us if Im wrong but, THATS LIKE 8 DOLLARS FOR ONE OUTFIT! The outfits are really cute, but not cute enough to warrant spending that much on an iPhone game. Even if the game is fun. We would still recommend you play it if youre interested. But not if you want to dress up your characters. (Also, you can get Dimitri as a playable character, and thats why we gave this game 4 stars).
As a fire emblem fan, this has missed the mark. We appreciate the story and attempt to make it a more RTS game, but it feels sloppy. Culprit is an afterthought almost. The game tries to auto play in combat and it causes tactical issues. The story feels like an angst filled teen drama with more edge than substance. There are better fire emblem games.
We have to keep life identifying a traitor then see Luca getting killed before we have to choose a different traitor. Please fix the pacing issues and let us actually advance to the next level because no matter which character we think is a traitor it sucks.
We're a longtime fan of FE, and we were pleasantly surprised by this game's sudden debut! We are not usually a fan of PvP games, but it was easy for us to pick up. We love being able to squeeze in a match between breaks at work.
Overall we love this game it's engaging and fun to play. The problem is that we haven't had this game for very long and we already beat the story part of it. We think they should add a little bit more to the story because it goes a bit too fast. Other than that it's a great game with slightly too expensive gems.
We have only recently discovered it (Im ashamed of ourselves), but it has been fun. It definitely needs more content and we feel a bit more single player merely because it is too reliant that one on multiplayer. It may not seem it though, but there is a lot of strategy. If one is not playing smart on either role, they will get themselves destroyed. If they play smart, they have a chance. Obviously the game needs more content and wish there had been at least a little bit more story to it when it released. Otherwise though, it is good. Also as far as Im concerned, whether it is good or bad, its a new Fire Emblem. Im going to play it because we enjoy the franchise. Other players can hate all they want, but as far as Im concerned, there is no issue disliking the game, as long as it doesnt bring hate to the devs or players that enjoy it. The fact is these people didnt spend the days working on the game so they have no right to be mad at the creators. As for fans, if one is looking down on a FE fan for playing an FE game, they arent a real FE fan. In short though, outside of more content needed and maybe a bit more single player for at least the story, its a very good game.
We LOVE TRICKING PEOPLE!!!! We LOVE MAKING PEOPLE THINK IM THEIR FRIEND AND THEN STABBING THEM IN THE BACK! JUST IMAGINING THE LOOKS ON THE TWO LIGHT PLAYERS FACES WHEN THEY REALIZE we MADE THEM VOTE AGAINST EACH OTHER MAKES ME SCREAM WITH JOY.
We think its very fun and has Amazing designs, we just wish they'd update it more and have more stuff to do. Would also love to see it on switch 2 since mouse controls would be perfect for this game. Absolutely love the characters but it is a shame all these good ideas are stuck in a mobile game, whereas the switch just gets boring stuff like engage :( but we really enjoy this game a lot.
This game is a fantastic way to kill some time. Each battle is bite-sized and lasts about 3-5 minutes. The social deduction element suffers from the same problems all similar games suffer from to have fun with it you need to play with people who are capable of paying even the most minute amount of attention, which sadly means 99% of people dont qualify. However, the games are so fast and generally consequence free (you still gain in ranking when you lose, at least for a while) that it doesnt bother us too much. You gain in power by leveling up all your characters, each of whom has four spells that level with them, three of which can be used by every other character as well. Super neat, though a bit confusing at first. If we have one complaint its that youre gonna get one-shot a lot early on. Even later on progression, if youre light and the enemy is dark and has a decently leveled spell that exploits your element you might end up one-shot. But its fun and worth your time.
The gameplay is alright. Not catching our attention but we are playing since they just released Mecha Corrin (wallet forgive us for we have sinned). Also nice that it has dual audio. Also very nice that they forgoed the gacha monetization model However we have to play battles to accumulate currency to read through the story. But the story starts off nonsensically with the heroine masquerading as a male (alright) but also a royal family member and the kings sole surviving heiress. Cool. But the she has a fiance who is also royalty and is aware of her masquerading as a boy. Okay no, do these writers know anything about legacy? Familial responsibilities? When you are born in such positions where other people, an ENTIRE POPULATION rely on you, you make choices at the sacrifice of your own personal needs and desires. Maybe this relationship will be explored that gives us confidence and excitement but it is not giving us the motivation to want to play more. But cute waifus and a prospective son of Ashnard getting a beast form that would make his pops proud just might keep us around. We will see.
We hope this game is here to stay. A lot of original characters, we really like Kurt. Fun game to just open up and play, and content will come so long as Nintendo feels the need to keep the game up and running.
The game has some rpg elements and is pretty easy to get into, while being pretty engaging as you got to find out whos the imposter.
Pretty cute game. We love the new MC (Kurt). Combat isnt as complex as in a traditional FE game, but its still enjoyable, mainly because of the competitive aspect. Climbing up the ranks is always fun, especially if youre playing as a villain, or in this games case, a Shadow. Gameplay feels like a quick and simple version of Among Us: two friends, one foe. Just like in Among Us, the foe is disguised as a friend, and you have to vote them out. It might sound boring at first, but the more you play, the better it gets. An easier Among Us? Which was already an easy game?! Sure, it might be easier, but that mainly comes from how short the matches are. The anxiety and rush of guessing who the foe is still remain. Unlike in Among Us, if you guess wrong, not all is lost, you still have a chance to fight. This is where the game differentiates itself and adds depth. If you guess right, you get a buff and some health back. If you guess wrong, theres a massive decrease in the buff and health you receive, which youll most likely need if the foe is genuinely good. Anyway Id say give it a try. We originally was with the crowd who thought this game looked lame from the trailer. Dont judge a book from its cover though. And dont follow the crowd. Play and form your own opinion. Anyway enough yapping. Lets get onto why this game is TRULY peak – Buff Furry Shadow Dimitri – Tomboy Shadow Kurt – Interesting Story/Chars.
We went into the game thinking it was a little weird of a concept, we hadnt even paid attention to the game until we got an email from Nintendo about it. But what an absolute gem, we have been playing for two days now and absolutely enjoy the game.
Quick short matches with interesting character designs and fun music. Overhated by the public for some reason.
Many people were shocked and confused when this game shadow dropped, while it does stray heavily from FE traditional gameplay, its still very addictive with spell customization and gameplay tech. Excited for more characters and story to be released.
All fire emblem is good fire emblem.
We were expecting a standard turn based strategy game but was completely surprised by the werewolf/mafia element. Wish it wasnt the free to play model though.
So likeI know a lot of people were skeptical about this game. Ourselves included. But we decided to play on our own and we ended up really enjoying it. The gameplay isnt as simplistic as we assumed; theres deep strategy involved and it strikes a balance between not being too lenient while also not being too harsh. The story itself is quite intriguing, and we even like it more than some of the books from feh. We think its a very fun and interesting ride. Also, you arent forced to spend money to get what you want. It all comes down to playing! We really recommend this game, and even if it looks strange at first glance, its a lot better than youll think. While there isnt too much content yet, the game just started and Im sure therell be a lot more coming in the future, which we look forward to.
Fire Emblem: Shadows is exactly what we needed. Simple enough to jump into during a work break, but fun enough for longer play sessions when we have the time. Its a great destresser and super welcoming for new players (even got our mom to Fire Emblem through it!). The season pass is optional and doesnt change the core game, you can unlock everything without it, it just takes longer. Really fair compared to most games. Just waiting for a certain blue haired Awakener from Ylisse to show up. His absence is the only major flaw.
Admittedly, we felt that the gameplay looked a little simplistic when first watching the trailer. However, we found the gameplay to be somewhat addicting and a good way to spend 15 to 20 minutes playing. Gameplay is deeper than what is initially shown. Maneuvering with different skills to try and deceive and also to win is more complex than what is apparent, making it fun to learn as you play. The character designs are in our opinion very interesting and unique, and we love the callbacks to classic Fire Emblem. The story is more on the basic side, but has us more captivated than Fire Emblem Heroes. Im curious to see what this game will offer in terms of new character, characters from throughout the Fire Emblem Series and new modes and forms of gameplay that might be added in the future.
Im actually really enjoying the game so far, we just think it needs more stuff added to it, like some more modes and characters, like all the event modes that FEH has, but the core gameplay loop is actually quite entertaining and enjoyable, we think they just need to build on it and fine tune it.
This is a really good game. The strategy you need to develop to either sus out the bad guy or be the bad guy is what makes us play for hours (even when we only intended to play just one more game).
People are bashing on this game because its not fire emblem. But after going through the tutorial and gaining more characters and thus more deck variety, the game really opens up. We cant wait for more characters and skills to be added to even further the variety and strategy. Its very quick to play a match and very low stakes. We think its great to just have a couple of minutes of fun at least and hours at most. Both the light and dark teams are fun to play and have different strategies to them. Honestly idk how long Ill be invested in this game, but its great for what it is, and there is surprisingly no pay Gacha element. Theres a battle pass and some costumes and thats it, at least for now. So very free to play.
Ok yeah we were wrong there's no normal grid based battles just the traitor battles please add actual normal grid based battles other than that it's fine.
We're in love with the writing so far. It gives you a lot to think about. Love it! Our best recommendation to players is to slow down when you play this game. Slow down! Read the story, don't just click through. It's worth it, trust us :) Feels very relevant to the world, to humanity. We really admire the Fire Emblem franchise. Keep up the great work.
Wanted a new fire emblem mobile game and this is multiplayer.
Dont listen to people who played for 5 minutes and decided the game is mindless and that it plays itself. This is some of the most genuinely fun gameplay Ive experienced in a F2P mobile game, and the monetization feels actually fair. Characters are unlocked by simply playing the game! Gear is earned by simply playing the game! Who woulda thunk! Many will say that the game isnt Fire Emblem enough and honestly who cares, the game is fun. While at first you may think the gameplay is brain dead since certain actions are automated, the game reveals many layers of strategy very quickly as you spend time leveling up each character and unlocking their magic spells, which are shared between all characters. Just to give some examples: you die very quickly, so it makes sense to pack some healing spells into your loadout. However, there are also spells that serve to reposition you, allowing you to dodge incoming attacks, which Ive found to be even more useful than healing. There are also buffs and debuffs that are hugely helpful, and all of this is just scratching the surface. One thing that adds a lot to the fun is that this is a truly multiplayer experience with two different modes of play, one being the light mode, where, in the first round, you battle alongside two other players to defeat every enemy in the room. But wait! One of your allies is actually evil! You must pay attention to your allies as well as your enemies so that you can try to find out who is actively working against your team. After that first round, everyone (even the evil one) must vote to decide who is the traitor. Whether or not you guess correctly determines how likely you are to survive the second round, where you and your true ally must face off against the traitor and their army of minions. This is where all those spells at your disposal truly matter, as the evil player has a lot of health and their own suite of spells that they can use against you and your ally. And of course, you yourself are able to play as the evil ally. The true fun here is in deciding how you can best throw off your allies to get them to guess incorrectly after the first round, which will make them easier to kill in round 2. You might damage an ally with an attack spell, but then heal them immediately after, before attacking them again. You might slay an ally, but then also make sure to kill a couple of your own demons to throw everyone off. Its truly a fun time. There is a story that unlocks as you play, but we havent found it to be too much of a draw, just a fun extra reward for playing the game. Please reward Nintendo for publishing a mobile game with ACTUAL fun gameplay and unobtrusive monetization and play this game.
Not a typical FE game, the play style is similar to the 3ds FF12 game. We enjoy this more than FE: Heroes.
Gameplay is meh, but gets 5 stars for cat boy Dimitri.
We give his game five stars please make this game happen. It is awesome.
We want to see them include characters from across the series.
There is no gacha. All micro transactions are completely optional and you can genuinely play for the love of the characters and gameplay, which the characters have really good character designs and the game plays really fast and u can always test out different characters for different roles which is really fun. There is no meta , there is no huge text of blocks, the story is fun to follow and interesting and all the characters stand out with classic archetypes with modern twists, Panther/The Green Knight is currently our favorite. We think fire emblem fans and new fans to the series should try this game because Ive genuinely havent had this much fun since we started playing brawl stars 3 years ago.
Thank you IS we love social deduction and we love FE so this game is perfect even if the gameplay isnt true FE its really fun.
Its different from any fire emblem gameplay your used to. Its fire emblem but among us.
We were hesitant at first given the trailer showed nothing but original characters. But one gave this game a shot it is actually very fun and addicting. For Fire Emblem fans, there are returning characters with a twist to them. Overall the gameplay if fun, engaging, and free to play friendly(so far).
They made fire emblem woke again!!! :D.
Pretty good for what it is. Although the mechanic of guessing whos the wolf needs more work, theres not much incentive of paying attention to who could be the culprit. Sure you get additional lives but when its a vote of 2 teammates, its a quite flip of the coin and the odds are generally in your favor if you guess instead of deducing who the wolf is.
The game is surprisingly fun, we cant stop playing! It could definitely be improved, but our only real complaint is a lack of a proper story mode. Yes, there is a story, but there isnt really any story game mode, as the story is just a bunch of dialogue that you unlock by playing. Other than that, would definitely recommend.
At first we thought we would only like this game for its art alone, and while we need to go further to give the story more of a fair shake, Ive gotten to like the gameplay somehow. Its for sure a weird way to take Fire Emblem, mobile strategy with Among Us gimmicks but its easy to pick up, and theres a nice balance to either play for light as an easier way to play, or choose to fight for the shadow and go for a bit more of a challenge. We appreciate that we dont have to work too hard to get new characters to play with, but we worry the strategy of target ourselves to trick the others is a little too easy to pull off. Some get lucky guesses, but there really isnt any penalty for offing yourself to get the heat off your back. This will be a hard game to balance, and we worry its going to disappear before it can reach its full potential. All in all, we like it, will probably play a lot of it over the next few weeks, but we hope they add some changes to make the gameplay more dynamic. And we want to see more of these characters.
Honestly, overall, its not a bad game. The gems pricing could be better values like a 1:10 ratio ($10=1000 gems) and Im not personally a big fan of not being able to control our characters movements or actions outside of the magic use. We do love the music, artwork, UI interface, and overall ease of use. Its simple to pick up and put down at any time with little worry. The characters are well designed and fleshed out and we WISH they were part of a mainline game. The rewards progression feels alright; not perfect but its pretty good. Overall if we gave them a 1-5 scale for everything it would be: Gameplay = 3/5 Story = 4/5 Character Design = 5/5 Character Lore = 5/5 Music = 5/5 Artwork = 5/5 UI = 5/5 So total rating would be 4/5 or 4.5/5.
At first when we heard Nintendo came out with this TODAY and we were watched the trailer we were so thinking OMG they are ruining fire emblem with Among Us but we like the game overall just wish there was more people besides three people involved on both light and dark sides cause it kinda feels one sided with light always winning but we will change our review based on future updates and they should add the characters from the other series which long time fans of the series( like us) would enjoy.
First of all, we want to say thank you for not making this another gacha. Yes theres the 9$ battle pass for playable Lyn, but we think thats not too bad when you consider that everything else gameplay wise is free. For the game, it does feel a little barebones now, but we do think theres fun in figuring out what spells to use and how to try to trick or figure out the traitor. We think with more types of spells in the future this game will get more interesting and have more depth, and this is a fine start. Characters and art are good, we wish nothing but happiness for Kurt and Rose (surely they will never betray each other ).
This is a great idea for the heroes vs traitor concept using Fire Emblem characters, and we cant wait to see which character gets added in the future.
We may like FE, but we dont know where this is going and Im possibly not gonna like it, so Im going to find out.
All in all the game is solid. Good game play and feels like a strategy game despite the auto fight. Tho the game play is repetative and a bit boring. We hope they had a sorta co-op dungeon mode. For friends to play 3 players, vs 5 hard levels. And at the end a random npc to fight as a boss. Other then that im only giving 3 stars because being the shadow is eather to easy, or imposible. The triangle damage system kinda gives tomuch power. If we play ref shadow and BOTH of the light are using blue damage spells? Im just kinda dead. Even with using green and blue soilder summons to help. It just feels like an imposible game to balance once more heros get added, lyn already being to strong to deal with if the one using it is smart.
We will continue to give it a try for the IP sake but man when we launched this game that initial cut scene had us so hyped. Then we were greeted with your units move and attack on their own. We thought the whole point of fire emblem was tactics.
