Description

Five-O is your favorite word game, minus the words!

Instead of letters, the tiles are numbers, and instead of forming words, each sequence of tiles has to add up to a multiple of five, and no sequences may be longer than five tiles.

"This is a great must have iPad game. And I love the fact that it really works your mind muscles. It is a very simple game but it will get you hooked." – tcgeeks.com

"The price is right, and the game is fun as well as educational. I’d very much recommend it, especially if you’re looking for something the whole family can enjoy or even just for the kids." – ipadboardgames.org

Features:

Easy to learn rules
Online Multiplayer, take turns at your leisure
Pass-and-Play mode for up to 4 local players
Single player mode with challenging computer opponents
Hints for when you get stuck
Simple controls, just touch and drag the tiles to the board

How to play:

Players take turns placing intersecting sequences of numbers on the board which add up to multiples of five. For example, 7-3-8-7 would be a valid sequence because it adds up to 25. The sequence 3-9-5 is not valid because it adds up to 17 which is not a multiple of five.

On each turn, players may play tiles in one straight line sequence, horizontally or vertically. The first sequence must be played on the center square, and all sequences after that must intersect with tiles already in play.

The score for each play is the sum of all the number tiles in sequences completed on that turn. Colored bonus squares award extra points and multipliers.

At the end of each turn, players draw new tiles to replace the ones played. The game ends when a player plays all of their remaining tiles and there are no more tiles left to draw.

Five-O Deluxe Reviews

Just starting this game again after several months and remember how addicting this game is. Distribution of tiles is random enough when playing the computer on the hard level.

We enjoy playing this game. It definitely passes the time.

Love this game. Play it nearly every day and never get tried of it.

Eliminate Pro is the only iOS game we truly and deeply loved. That game was perfect in countless ways. Five-O Deluxe is a very, very, very close second. After years and thousands of online matches, we never ever tire of it. Only thing it needs is a ranking system. We plead for a ranking system. PLEASE. Im convinced Id be atop the leaderboards, though we dont know if Id beat user mspun whos probably the best player we’ve ever encountered. Other than that, this game is pure perfection.

We would love to see this as a cross-platform game (Android & Windows) and as a physical board game, too, to play with our parents and others who don’t have Mac or iOS. Thanks for the great game!

We really like playing this game. It is relaxing and has helped us keep our math skills alive.

Great entertainment, while exercising your brain. Basically, instead of building words, you look for multiples of 5. As another reader mentioned, the only flaw is that sometimes games stall for weeks if your opponent does not make a move!

On of the early games we grabbed. It took a while to discover the strategy. When you play on hard level, we sometime think the computer is cheating.

We had to come back to appl bc we couldnt find this game on google play. Facts. No upgraded features needed. Purely original and fnfun. Only games we’ve played this ( lost count almost a decade ago) – gems of war & card party. Bonus reminds us of olndays games. Boom.

This game helps us to think keeps us sharp we really enjoy playing it and would recommend it to anyone who love Maths.

Both new and familiar! Great app, well thought through!

Planning strategy against your opponent is what develops after you start playing. We cannot wait to open our iPad to see it it is our turn.

We played this game 5 years ago but we forgot about it, and now we found it again! It’s a great game.

This is a wonderful game, like Scrabble but for those of us with a mathematical bent. We have never done the interactive method, but we must agree with the other commenters about that.

We’ve played this game daily for at least 8 years simply because its a very smart game. While there is also a very nice community of active players on this game who keep us on our toes, new players are always welcomed. This game is easy to learn, never boring, always fun and it will improve your strategy skills to help keep your brain sharp.

This game a great and always challenging. No fluff, no extra screen effects. Just game. The only slightly annoying thing is, when you place a die, the screen goes large so you dont see the entire screen. Not saying it should be eliminated, just an option to turn that off. Otherwise, we think youll enjoy.

We have loved this game since we discovered it. Improvements over the years were fine, bug eventually fixed. It now runs fine but still has notification issues, but bottom line it still works. Top of our wish list is some ability to communicate with others. We did create a Facebook group for users to communicate with each other, but no one has discovered it. Great game! Would love to have a version that is straight up with no triple scores etc… More challenging. Would also love to see a messaging feature like Words with Friends.

Ability to build your skill set over time. Nice!

Nice game very disappointed that after buying the deluxe version on our iPhone we would need to again buy it if we wanted it for our Mac. Buying it once should be good enough.

May need to be updated. Game is awesome tho.

The app crashes every time. The developer ignored multiple request for customer service.

Please update to current IOS releaseThe app no longer works on iPhone.

This game is a cross between scrabble and sudoku. One of the best games in the App Store! Update: since the last IOS upgrade, this game will no longer load on iPhone! It still works on iPad but, not the phone. Very disappointing.

Scrabble for math geeks. A good game for younger kids to work on their math skills.

This is an awesome and addictive game!!

Our 7 & 9 yo boys love trying to beat us at this game! It’s a fun way to pass time while practicing math facts (without the drudgery).

If we want to win we need to stay on easy!

Simple to learn, hard to master. Great game in general, especially since its free. Others have had bug issues but we never have, always worked great for us. We recommend.

Great game, very addicting. But, since we updated, it keeps saying it’s our turn but we have already went.

We can play this game for hours!.. The hard level is very challenging and brings out the competitor in us… Sharpens your math skills too…

As a scrabble player, the transition was new and fun!

Love this game. Always play computer in hard mode and our record of wins is 47%. That being said, the tiles are not dealt randomly, especially with last update. Computer consistently gets a 5 and/or 10 tile each turn. It’s supposed to be based on number of tiles played but it’s not because we play 4-5 tiles each turn but only receive one or 2 5/10 tiles during the entire game. Please fix this glitch because we do enjoy the game, despite apparent computer bias.

It’s a good game, a challenge. But at least on hard mode, the player is at a distinct disadvantage. The computer is always dealt exactly what it needs to make huge points based on what you played, particularly if you had no choice but to play near the 3x. Always has an abundance of 5’s and 10’s just when it needs it. It really is not a random deal, which is very frustrating. Please fix this!

We had previously rated this game 5/5 but we’ve now dropped the rating to 2/5. The game itself is still good, but it is now plagued with errors. There are constant Game Center errors when submitting your turn; there is also a constant App badge with a notification even when it’s not your turn. Please fix these errors and we will gladly bring back up to 5/5.

Been playing this game BUT suddenly the game will not load – stuck on the connecting to Game Center screen. Please fix before our games expire!

What a shame; this used to be one of our favorite games but we can no longer play our turn and so we will delete it soon if there is no update to fix the problem.

We have played this game probably every day for the past few months. We absolutely love it. It is like scrabble but with numbers. That’s the best way to describe it. No, it’s not sudoku. But it’s amazing! Just try it.

This is the game we keep going back to play. Simple in design, but fun to play. Would definitely recommend to others.

The computer "sews" together perfect multi-rows and combinations that are all dependent on perfect cards. It gets them… All the time. It reels off 100+ hands like it’s milking a cow. We get an opening where we can get a triple going from either end of a line. We don’t have ONE card that makes a match. Haha. The odds of that are pretty phenomenal. Hand bred from the mind of a programmer. Frustrating, and ultimately not worth the time. We just played a game where we got our only 5 on the last turn, and no 10’s. Real competitive.
