Find out what gamers are saying about Folium:

We use an XR and does everything work right out the box? No. But if you are okay with messing around with the emu setting you can get certain games to work fire emblem awakening is the only one we’ve got so far to run great.

Until JIT is allowed we wont see many performance improvements, but Pokmon 3DS games are running ok.

Fantastic on iPhone 15 pro max however newest update has moved the top screen too far up and is now blocked by Dynamic Island. Please fix.

Thank you. Also wanted to let you know when we search emulator your app is way down. Think a certain company paid to slow you down.

We love this emulator so much but it would be so much better if it had game controller support for the backbone app integration and similar telescopic controllers.

We really like it. It isnt perfect, but we are able to enjoy our use. We got a notification on our backbone saying folium doesnt support controllers but we’ve been using our controller to play it the whole time?? Not sure what thats all about and our backbone works great besides the r2 and L2 buttons dont work with folium for some reason.

Works great on iPhone 15 Pro Max but theres no iPad support please add it we want to play on our new iPad Pro M4 chip.

Its pretty clear that 3DS emulation is the main draw for this app and its just not there yet. If our 15 Pro cant run the games without issues 3DS should be labeled Beta. We really look forward to eventually playing 3DS games properly, but for now its a great app for the other systems just not the one were all here for. Hopefully we can change it to 5 stars once 3DS games are fixed, if theyre not fixed we guess we wasted $5.

Still in the early stages and thats fine. Runs LoZ:OOT at full speed for the 3ds with out adjusting any settings on iPhone 15pro. Like most emulators you need an extra file to get things to work for legal reasons but not an issue. Happy it works and is getting updates.

Its a great emulator and we can finally play Kirby games we’ve always wanted to play. However, its a bit laggy and sorta hard to control sometimes. Also, the sound is all staticy so please fix it. We also cant import certain games. Other than that it works great! :)

Bit laggy and let us customs our own controls.

We were positive at first, but we cant help but notice that the New update with core options made games perform worse. Changed cpu % and followed instructions for better performance, with no improvement. Battery gets unbelievably hot after one minute. Both apple and the developer to blame. Trying to make a chocolate chip cookie when apple wont let you use chocolate chips. Now were stuck with fig newtons.

Overall Im happy with the 3DS emulation however it leaves some issues to be desired. Theres no way to change the control layout or turn off the vibrate haptic which kills your battery almost as much as the game itself.

We have a 13 pro, and we can run games like 85% the normal speed of a regular 3DS THE THING IS… 1. You HAVE TO configure the cpu clock settings (most of the time around 10%-20% works the best) 2. The game HAS to be compatible (4-5 stars) with the emulator itself (emulator compatibility is uncontrollable because it’s about compatibility for the EMULATOR and NOT the DEVICE) look up "Citra compatibility" and you can look and see if your game is compatible.

Love the ability to play 3ds games on our phone, but most of them crash before the main menu of the game pops up especially Mario 3d land and Mario maker 3ds.

We tried Luigis Mansion dark mode and it just doesnt work and crashes and cant seem to get it to work.

We updated our review, the game are dont crash no more but its very very slow, will there be a fix?

This update causes the game to crash immediately. We know its a new app on the AppStore and theyre gonna figure it out. We know in the future we are going to update our rating, just gotta be patient.

We wouldnt recommend anyone to buy this personally. While a 3ds emulator seems cool and all we dont think folium is the one, since buying this we have dealt with consistent performance issues while having a 15 Pro max, the app crashes consistently when we try to play any rom. We would just wait for a more polished emulator than buy this.

The only reason we payed for this is to play tomodachi life, and it crashes in the same place (create a mii) every time we try to play it. Not worth paying for right now, best to wait a while or try something else.

Lots of games crashing. Mario & Luigi Superstar saga 3DS crashes right after first bowser fight.

Dude brand new iPhone 15 pro max. When we open the app it just says import a bunch of stuff that we dont have and nothing is really working. Can we just have our money back? Or can you have it work when you first download it? One or the other.

We wanted to PLAY SUPER SMASH BROS FOR 3DS AND GUESS WHAT. IT DOESNT WORK IT ACTS LIKE IT WILL DO SOMETHING BUT IT DOESNT WORK HATE THIS EMULATOR EVEN YUZU IS BETTER THEN YOU DONT BUY WASTE OF MONEY PLZ FIX THIS.

We didnt realize we paid to beta test, very unprofessional discord mods as well.

When are you going to fix the app to run 3Ds that was the whole point of paying for this is so that we can pay 3Ds games.

It was working good until the update the sound is bad and when we finally could play now we can access our games this shouldnt been free instead of charging for app that crashes.

This is not a must but pleaseee add support for AirPlay where the top screen is on the tv and the bottom screen in on ur iPhone like the delta emulators ds emulator does it would make this app 1000% times better being able to play 3ds on the big screen.

The foundation to this app is phenomenal. Not perfect mind you but its biggest update helped give us confidence in this purchase. We think with a few tweaks, it should run at full speed on our iPhone 14. Thank you and keep up the great work. (Btw – we would love a video or tutorial showing how to adjust setting for maximum performance)

We’ve been waiting for a 3DS emulator for ages and this one takes the cake. We have an iPhone 15 Pro so take it slightly with a grain of salt but this runs Pokemon Omega Ruby like BUTTER (with the proper settings selected on Folium). As for older iOS devices, there have been reports of performance not being as consistent as the 15 Pro Max, but they seem to get it running good enough as long as the proper settings are configured. So yes, this is worth the $5.

It constantly crashes on our 13 pro after the update. After playing around with options we were able to get ours to work again. Thank you for all of your hard work.

We switched our CPU Clock speed to 20%, and the emulator runs amazing on our 14 pro max now. The other updates, like more settings, are great!

We got this to play 3DS games, and it works great for us! Sure, its not as perfectly smooth as playing on our actual Nintendo 3DS, but we love pulling our iPhone out for a quick game when we dont have our 3DS with us. The 3DS has complicated control input, so its ambitious to try to handle this with on-screen touch controls, but Foliums implementation is quite usable. The latest update (1.2) removes the extra white bezel space, which allows the virtual 3DS screens to be slightly larger, and that actually makes a huge difference! We like to mirror this to our Apple TV or Mac to play on a big screen. This adds a little bit of lag, but it works really well for slower games like Animal Crossing. 100% worth the price.

The UI is super clean, from your first launch in the app to the inner workings that make all the magic work. The controls are better fit for the phone compared to other regular Nintendo emulators we’ve tried recently like Delta or melonDS. The games run perfectly unless you are trying to run 3DS which is our only complaint. Audio can be maxed out and sound really static-like, with occasional frame drops and small occurrences in performance. However this app has just released and seems promising, we expect future updates to slowly work on increasing performance as they have already released graphical settings to increase performance. Great potential here, Ill be watching closely to hopefully make this review 5 stars.

The other stuff works tho. D pad still need more work. We shouldnt have to press the dpad directions individually.

We updated the app and now everything crashes when we try to open Pokemon games.

For a paid app, at least it must be able be use. But obviously, this app werent. It still cannot work well for 3ds emulation. We have encountered multiple crashes and flash back when we play 3ds game for a while. Maybe it will be fixed, but not now to worth to buy.

Everytime we start tomodachi life when we make our mii, it crashes! Can you fix this problem?

The update given out today has brought a new features, but broke almost all our games. App constantly crashes for games that played like mario kart 7, fire emblem, etc. Im sure a update later will fix this.

Most of us are going to be iPad users so we would love an official iPad app.

Im excited for a 3DS emulator being accessible now on our phone but unfortunately the app does seem to have many issues when running games. We thought that once a new update was available that it might fix stability issues but after the latest update Im not able to run our games now which previously worked before. We hope this gets fixed soon.

We know its still in early development, but every time we boot up animal crossing, it lags and glitches. Our game also crashes 24/7.

Unfortunately, this leaves a lot to be desired. The games at least run (and on DS games they even work at full speed without configuration, imagine that.) but theres a little bit too much fiddling that has to be done out of the box to get 3DS titles running at an acceptable frame rate and without hideous distortion on the screens by default. The new update has simultaneously made this situation better and worse, now CRASHING 3DS games by default because the developer forgot to disable a JIT-related shader feature, but you can now get SOME games (not all – one game we really want to play just will not) running at full speed by lowering the CPU clock speed. Other than that, Foliums UI and options are even more basic than Delta, not even allowing you to quit games without closing the app (even though the button to do so is now available, its disabled for no reason). Look, we get it – Apples JIT policies make it impossible to let an emulator like Folium run at its absolute best, and Im lucky to be able to use our iPhone 13 Pro to run any of these demanding titles at all, never mind at full speed. Still, at $4.99 with ho-hum performance unless you have the latest, top of the line iPhone, we feel like people will get more out of Delta than Folium, even without the game-changing 3DS support.

After the most recent update v2 it simply wont run omega ruby or alpha sapphire anymore. Just crashes everytime.

We were playing pokemon X and it was working really well until we updated and we were wondering what new features they added in but when we open the guy stars glitch in until the quit the app and stars over and over, FIX IT PLEASE.

Epic Mickey and NSMB2 works, but Mario 3D land and Sonic Generations dont work. :(

We are a sonic fan and was excited to play sonic 3DS games on there like Sonic Boom Fire And Ice but upon doing so, when starting the game, it couldnt start up, it was a black screen, when playing a DS game called Sonic Chronicles it worked at first aside with some bit of lag, when encountering an enemy into a game, the bottom screen is black. Hate to say it, getting an emulator for $5.43 was not worth it. We hope the app improves to make it more better.

Performance is very disappointing. We understand without JIT its not going to run smoothly, but its insane how its being charged $5 on the App Store in its current state. Tried getting our copy of Smash 4 working and no matter what solution we try from the Discord server, theres always something wrong that makes the experience unplayable. Maybe if performance was better and settings had a better UI with advanced options it could be on-par with Delta, but as of now, we dont recommend buying it. The only reason you would get it is because its the only 3DS emulator available on the App Store.

App shuts down when open 3DS games.

The new version crashes when trying to load a 3ds game.

Start 3ds game, app just crash.
