Community Insight:
We had the original game on our first phone! This game feels just like the first with more features and new things to get.
The game has been out for a minute and has come a very long ways in that time. Its developed into a friendly and open community that are just there to play and have fun with each other(for the most part.) the actually gameplay is mostly about quick reflexes and counting. Fantastic for twitchy gamers. The game is completely free to play with no real incentive to spend money other than to support the dev…. Team? Idk ask Phil. Only downside is currently you have to make a minimum purchase in order to use chat, which makes it hard for new players to start and get help if its needed.
We love this game. Ive played it for years. Ill hopefully continue to play it for many years to come.
We love Galcon so much. We wish that you would update Galcon labs or original for new devices so that we could play the other game types against the computers when we are not connected to the internet. Honestly we would buy either game again for iPad specific.
Great for short commutes or waits.
This easy to learn, hard to master game offers several game modes. Let us explain something for you because the pictures to this game are pretty misleading. This isnt some lame sci-fi knock off of Star Trek or something. Its a very simple game where the goal is to take all the enemy planets. We just broke our arm so we can tell you that this game is simple enough to be played with one hand. So give this game a chance because it WILL surprise you. Phil, thank you for making such an amazing game Edit: we just noticed that this game is rated 17+. Im 14, but as a tip for someone younger, banned words dont show up but you can mute people you dont like. And of course the gambling is simply betting on the winners of games and in-game poker which you dont have to do. Have fun.
We use to play this game like Crazy but we stoped play for certain reason and when we came back turns out we can type we still play this game but chatting use to be our favorite part but now we have to pay and idk where to pay we want to pay but we can fin Ltd where tf do we pay!!! We emailed 4 times and they havent responded.
Hyper-addictive amazing real-time space strategy game. We keep playing this since 10 years and cant get bored of it.
Good game, Very competitive strategy game.
We've been playing galcon since the first game released. We've played galcon, galcon fusion, galcon 2, and various mods on PC. This is by far the best game (mobile, console, pc, tabletop, board) we've ever played. We literally can't speak highly enough of it. It's incredibly simple, but the inevitable complexity of strategy that results in an amazing experience (we don't know else how to say it lol). We've had galcon on every phone and computer we've purchased since we first discovered it. We even installed it on our school laptop back in high school! How it plays: real time strategy… It's like live chess lol. It's very simple… (bigger) planets produce (bigger) ships, you capture neutral or enemy planets with your ships. That's it kind of. The strategy that goes into outproducing, outcompeting, deceiving, and outwitting enemies gets so complicated that there are 6000 word guides online! How it looks: great, galcon 2 looks the best so far. Beautiful UI and all around graphics. Easy to use button/slider and touch-drag control scheme for rapid play. How it pays: the game isn't pay to play. We've purchased in game currency once, mainly just to support the Phil. We used the currency to get yellow Pentagonal ships (: How you never get bored: sadly, the player base isn't what it once was. It's a wonderful community, but it's not as large as it was a few years ago. We used to compete in tournaments daily; sometimes up to 4 or 5 in a night! The tournaments are our personal favorite aspect, along with the clan system. We never got into the galaxy map much, but it's apparently very fun. There are hella game modes to choose from, including offline practice, teams, co-op practice, king of the hill, and others. The skill ceiling is crazy high; once you get decent enough to really get into symmetrical 1v1s, you'll literally be learning and developing your skills for years to come. Get the game now.
Fun gameplay. Great community. Join a clan, participate in the Galaxy Map wars and have fun! And buy some galcoins every now and then to support the developers.
Totally free and fun. Great simple strategy game with the option to join clans and dominate the galaxy in a macrocosm of the same game.
The Good, once you figure out how to create a free account and play, and learn the modes, how to play, community dos and donts (etc) the game is pretty immersive, and surprisingly hard to put down or forget about. And nobody has time to explain ally the reasons this game is so good. We would give this 10/10 if not for what is actually wrong with the game which Ill cover now. The Devs of the game created a near masterpiece that would likely last forever, but they barely invest time any more it seems to either keep working with the galcon community to improve it, or bother to spend any time, expense or effort to market this game whatsoever. It is pretty shocking how Galcon was the first real-time strategy shooter on IOS (seriously). And still heavily engaged by its fans to this day. But the developers do almost nothing to promote it resulting in a very tight-knit community of players who are comprised of almost entirely veterans. And there is no way to avoid being in rooms with these players. Not only that, many of them seem to take advantage of the evidently super easy ability to create and play on endless Smurf accounts. This is the single greatest issue with the game. The game should monitor an account/players level based on wins/losses and pair them accordingly based on rate of win, not rank alone. Some kind of algorithm or AI should be able to determine if a player is new or a Smurf account. We were told there used to be a dojo training mode, and an asterisk/penalty for accounts which apparently shared an IP address with other accounts, but they removed both, opting instead to disable chat to new accounts which actually serves as another disability to actual new players. And apparently there was a better payout system that has been abandoned. It just seems the devs are out of touch with its community and especially anything at all with regard to drumming up or retaining new players. And as of late, are even turning a nose up to the wants/recommendations of the veterans it seems. But if you can look past all that, and/or actually like a bit of drama, along with what actually is an incredibly amazing game (or rather a whole suite of games actually) in so many ways, not to mention just how smooth and beautifully put together this game is (it even still works flawlessly on 3rd generation iPads), and interested in a game that is strangely exciting to try to master (but be forewarned, there literally are tons of Jedi level masters who regularly play) you really should see and experience this game which youll no doubt come to hate as well as love like no other touch screen game out there. For strategy game lovers, this game is a must. Lets just hope the current devs someday learn to build/utilize an actual modern marketing and support/expansion development team.
Only complaint is its doesnt fit the screen on newer devices like the iPhone X, Xs, Xr.
Ive been playing this games for years now and for some reason we try to login to our account and it wont let us. It keeps saying invalid password. This is a problem and now it says too many failed logins. We tried gaming a new account but it keeps saying invalid password. How is that even possible? It is annoying that we cant play the game. Fix this please.
So Ive been trying to talk to other players in the cha but it just says chat disabled for non-playing players. We dont know how to fix that.but it is still a amazing game.
Wouldve been cool if you could select a difficulty level. Such a cool idea for this game tho.
We really don't understand how to make an account.
The only way to play this otherwise great game is to do consent to indefinite tracking. A game-specific ID is also pushed hard. None of this is necessary, and it ruins the gaming experience to have this pushed so hard. And thats before reading the privacy policy.
The app worked great for several days but abruptly changed, asking for logins and removing options for solo play.
Original game was much better but they wont rerelease it on the new ipads. Very disappointed in this mess of a game. We just want to play the old simpler game that was single player. Instead this overly complicated mess is the replacement.
This game makes no sense. Its impossible to play single player and the game just isnt as good. Bring back Galcon Fusion, that game was fun to play.
It wont let us create a password and Ive tried every Capitalization and number combinations known to man for any password creation, and now its saying too many failed tries.
We realize the last update was two years ago, but it appears there is no longer online play. Its only fun playing predictable bots for so long :(.
Ive been playing this game for years. We love it. We recently dowloaded it on our iPad and had our friend download it on her phone. It wouldnt let either of us move to online play, we were stuck eternally playing the bots in the tutorial…its super frustrating. PLEASE fix this. Id like to give a higher rating.
We used to enjoy Galcon, but do not like being only allowed to play against other people. They need to allow you to turn tat feature off.
We loved the old version. Loved it. Played for many happy hours. All we want to do is play that game again, alone. Its fine to make a social version of the game, but to make it the ONLY way to play its unnecessary, its stupid, its game design malpractice.
Game is a piece of crap. App is full of bugs and account constantly resets and basically makes game unplayable. Used to be good, but now ruined.
This game is very fun if it was FAIR! What they do is give more ships to higher level players when the game starts. Since this game is essentially a numbers game as to who will dominate a disputed planet then it is essentially an UNFAIR to anyone who is a higher level. Ive been totally turned off to this game but we still want to play this type of game. We found another similar game that is not unfair in how they set it up. Its called Auralux or Auralux 2. We suggest not even downloading this game and going through the disappointment and just look up those other games.
You cant play against the machine, you cant select a level, it just throws you into playing against other players and VERY quickly becomes way more difficult.
The game wont let us create account or even play. E09 too many failed logins we havent even made an account. How can you even fail a login you havent made? What a joke of an app. We cant play your game because yall dont want us too. We love Galcon but whoever made this app is a joke.
It takes time to get good. FFA is the best game mode. Most fun game and longest log on our phone outlasting all other games for us. Download it and try to learn how it win.
Not a pay to win game! Best game ever.
This gives chess a run for its money.
This game is complete trash. Do not waste a second. Not worth the free download.
Statistically tracked the Dice Rolls are CHEAT . DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS ONE ..PFFFFF.
They have managed to destroy one of the best games out there and turn it into where it isnt worth our time anymore. We played the original for years, this version, we feel Ive already wasted too much time and our money on.
You know, there's something about impassioned people, they do it for the fun and for the love of it. Here, that's something you will find. Galcon, this game isn't a pay to play, no advertisements, just a developer that created his own little universe and we get to populate it. If we have your attention and curiosity, we'll explain the whole game. Before we do explain, let us just say that the key to this game, the special something that it has, comes from the "community." There's a passionate group of us that consider ourselves addicts because when you really give the game a chance you'll find it scratches that itch you've been meaning to alleviate. Much like other games there is a forum where players post their suggestions and grievances, the dev responds and we get to have a discourse. But something we really enjoy being able to say is that the developer sometimes hosts a lobby or joins games to pop in and play for a while, answering questions and chatting a bit. You get the sense that he cares about the community, as he's willing to take the time to say hello and chill for a bit. We find that very special. There are a number of layers to this game, the first layer is standard gameplay. You open a lobby and choose one from a number of game types, the premise is simple, you start with a planet that builds up ships, you use those ships to attack others. Depending on the size and defense you can capture new production planets to grow your fleet. The aim is to dominate. Maps vary, the specific objective varies from FFA where you aim to kill all, to king of the hill where you aim to hold the middle long enough while others are trying to break your grip on it. This is an online game, you can practice against a Bot but everything is centered around the people. Now you can have custom ships/planets but there are no bonuses or special equipment, -we are all equal here- when you jump into a game, the map is randomized and your spawn may have given you some poor options, so you adjust your strategy. This is at its essence a real time strategy game that will put you against people all over the world ranging from extremely good, decent and novices. We all started at one point and we were all "noobs." We continued on playing to improved our mastery. In the end it's about learning to study the map, speed of reflexes and knowing the right strategies for the conditions you are facing. As you play against people, you'll see there is always a chat log when you play. You can close it, or you can talk to people..some really cool people, some not so cool and there are trolls. There are players that are really tough on new people and others that are very understanding. Try and ask a question if you don't understand something, there are many of us that would love to give some advice or help you fit in but there are also others that will yell at you for making mistakes playing when they are trying to win. It's centered around the urge to win, so some folks get rather unpleasant. The thing about the chat is, it can be really easy to make a friend. Important, in our opinion. That is why the most crucial thing in galcon is to…find a mini-community. A group of people that would gladly answer your questions, play with you, be understanding when you make mistakes and joke around while talking about anything. What we mean by mini-community is, Clans. You have a decision to make, there are a fair number of clans. If you go for the biggest powerful one you'll find it can be a bit impersonal, we don't believe these are good for new players and in our experience even when we were leading a big clan and we wanted to help new people, it was difficult. What we suggest is to join a smaller clan, there are less ambitions, it feels less like a corporation and more like a small business where everyone knows each other and smiles, is friendly, helpful and more understanding. In the end it really depends on the leaders and a fair number of us put in a good effort to support our members. We hope we haven't lost you yet =) Now this is where we begin to reference the "layers" of the game. There is something called the Galaxy Map (GM), it is a beautiful spiral galaxy that is filled with stars, each star is a piece of territory. We call it a "Battlefield For Clans". When the Galaxy map begins clans invade the map, have their spawns and try to expand from there, eating as many stars as they can, trying to crush the enemy clans while aiming to balance competing powers so someone doesn't gain too much of an advantage. Usually there are teams of clans (factions) that battle in a four way match until the two week period ends and the victor is decided by who has the most points (value of land). The way wars are powered is "hits" a clan generates hits by having their players fly to a specific star and while their ship is parked there those players win games getting them an award of hits, which is based off of a number of factors, which impacts the star, either to seize it or defend it. What's cool about this is stars have production, so as you gain more stars, you get bigger hit awards, you become more powerful as you grow. Trying to build a empire for your faction to conquer the others while they will try to balance the map and weaken you. It's a very fun game to play. Gets pretty intense because it's all real time strategy and the messy nature of clan politics. Which brings us to the other "layer" of this game, clans relationships with each other, these are dictated by clan leaders and their past experiences in dealing with each other, whether it was a personal conflict, a squabble with members, good friends, similar ethos in their ethics of gameplay, and of course their treatment in the previous Galaxy maps. The game can get fairly complex because in the end it's not the gameplay mechanics, appearances, victories or awards that make the game, it's the people.
Amazing multiplayer/solo gameplay on multiple modes! We never get bored. Clan battles are by far the best feature, however it isn't all the game is and that makes it even better.
Very addictive. Can't get enough. We find ourselves playing this game whenever we get a few spare moments.
Great game, have been playing for 2 years and we honestly cant stop, we tried, but that didnt work at all … Great mods for playing, unlimited tactics u learn every day, no game is ever like any other, multiplayer game is pure bless ! Great players .. Good people, it feels like family.
This game is one of the best on the AppStore you get lost in the community it takes time to get good at it a lot of time to be better it's completely free to play and with the poker update if your good it's easier to make coins one thing if you are having a tough time ask a high rank player they help.
Great strategy game for single or multiplayer. Individual games of several types, and week to month long clan battles which is by far the most interesting. The community is far better than most, the game can be confusing initially, but just ask and you'll get help. Rules of the GM change often, which keeps it interesting. The dev literally has interactions directly with players on the forums, and implements many ideas & changes, never seen anything like it! Also, you can buy things, but there is no pay to play, they are all visual elements (cooler looking ships, preferred color planets, etc). Nothing that gives and advantage. Most of us who may spend money on it, do so basically to ensure they make a profit and continue this awesome game/community.
Love the game. The tactics. The free for all is all we play but we're an old galcon 1 player. They have several modes. A galactic map. Great clan system. Very fun game. We hated peace revolts at first but it balances the game nicely. It also keeps people moving. If you don't know what talking about download the game. It's very competitive so people can be mean sometimes. There are plenty of ways to play to computer and get better so you can face players confidently. Veterans have zero advantage over you except for skill. Leveling up doesn't make you more powerful so new players always have a fighting chance.
A good, simple multiplayer game requiring skill where iap's are strictly cosmetic.
One of the absolute best apps we've downloaded. Original game is excellent and fun. Constantly innovating, adding new games, making it better. And most of the gamers are really great, kind and friend people.
We got this game looking for a way so we could play our friends. This game is exactly that we can play our friends without disconnecting with them for no reason at all.
A minute to learn, a lifetime to master. Try this game out and you won't be dissapointed.
Best iPhone game we have played.
Play for a minute or for hours. Pick up anytime for quick fun.
