In the shadow of the Wall, your watch begins. Eight thousand years before Jon Snow took the Black, the Night’s Watch was formed to secure the Wall and defend the border of Westeros against the perils of the North, and all that lies beyond. Into these untamed wilds, sworn brothers and their allies set out on rangings to face the dangers that would threaten the realm. But the Wall is a blade that cuts both ways.

Guide the decisions of Lord Commanders through the seasons and mount expeditions beyond the Wall. As ravens travel to and from your expeditions in real time, their messages are delivered to you throughout your day. Respond with your command right away, or whenever you see fit.

We’ve only been playing this for a week, but we love it so much. It’s perfect when you need a break from work, because of the idling feature you have to close it periodically anyways. It’s also nice music to have on in the background if you leave it open. We which we could interact more with the maps, zoom in more, rotate around. In the wide view, it kind of jumps around a bit and it seems kinda buggy. I’d also think it’d be cool to be able to watch and zoom in more on the NPC’s on their expeditions, even if it is just them slowly walking somewhere lol. It’s just a relaxing game and we think they could lean into that. We’re not far in so we’re not sure how deep the decision making goes, but it’s our favorite thing to play right now :)

The scenery in this game is one of the best we’ve seen in a while (for a mobile game). The games journey through time, and the stories to where you could choose your own path is amazing. We would recommend this game to anyone looking for an adventure.

We pray that this game gets the love it deserves and the developers care about it like their own child because the amount of outcomes and possibilities that could be implemented in the future are amazing. If there was anyway to encourage the developers to keep working hard on this game Id take it in a heartbeat. Our only personal request/recommendation is to add some difficulty so that commanding the watch truly is a hardship for the rugged commanders, to bring out your true grit and determination. Our recommendation is that they add a tracker for supplies, manpower, and moral/loyalty. Of course it shouldnt be to hard to maintain, in consideration of those that want an easy experience but their could be a difficulty setting to help remedy that. But to actually have to maintain your resources while also focusing on important tasks at hand would be an extraordinary addition to the game and help put you in the lord commander shoes even better.

We find myself captivated by the situations which unfold. The music and UI is great, but we wish the game had more dialogue options. Oftentimes the choices felt a bit limited, but for a free game we admire the effort and creativity the developers put into this thing. Id recommend this to others.

We agree that there is a lot of potential here. Sadly the game is flawed. Play is not unending in that the story will come to the same end no matter what you choose so it has a feeling of helplessness. No matter what you do – it wont matter. Choices are repetitive and at times make no sense. You don’t have autonomy as at times there is only one decison to choose. The action in the area around the wall is awful as the same exact scenarios come up every time, and the maps cannot be navigated properly. Springback and spinning if you to move round. Battle/exploraton and castle scenes can’t be zoomed in on either. After a while it’s just boring as you wont get anywere or accomplish anything no matter what.

This is not a accessibility friendly game. The text is very small and there is no way to increase it.

The game goes nowhere really. It could if some effort was put into it. We played for about a month hoping it would develop into something. Unfortunately it doesnt. Play it for 1 day and you will have seen everything.

We can only rate this a 1 star because without a magnifying glass we cant play. The bad part is there is a lot of screen leftover. Why did you make the text so small?

You get new events every now and then, but we keep getting clear forest, scout north of the wall stuff and it does nothing for the story. There seems to be no way to progress to another lord commander, just sitting here for a week irl doing the same quests 400 times. Very boring and uninteresting.

As the title says, this needs updating for larger phones. The text is WAY too small on an iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Dynamic Island is where the games notifications go.

Is there a way to make the game text readable?

This is one of the coolest games we have ever got our hands on. Perhaps the best mobile game on the market. Storytelling and choices feel real and original. Scenery is amazing as well. Although, we wish we could play more. We like to revisit when a raven arrives, but once we open the game up we wish to play it much longer than we are allowed. We think this could be fixed by allowing the player to play as the King in Kings Landing, or one of the many lords. Such as playing as the generation of Starks. We feel this game would excel if you could play as the leader to another area of the Seven Kingdoms.

This game is amazing! It has a great story with a lot of mythology! If you like reading books for a long time, then if you have patience you will love this game!

We really enjoy this it just needs more to do.

While it gets a bit annoying waiting in between choices, the story and choices are good in our opinion. The art/graphic style is amazing, and it looks really nice. We havent seen GOT but now we might have to. Definitely recommend!

This game is story drive and events play out depending on your decisions. Im not far into the game so we dont know the kind of weight each decision has. We enjoy it because its a brief reprieve from our day to read a little bit about the men of the Nightwatch. Our only gripe is we cant zoom in on the map and the font sometimes is too tiny. If there was a way to adjust the font size or zoom the map that would be cool.

Im a huge fan of the show and this game adds so much to the lore of the nights watch. Also this game is kinda chill and feels more like a story. The artwork is beautiful and we hope they release posters or wallpapers from it.

We rarely take the time to write a long review, but this game deserves it. Im a sea of popping games with bright sound design, colors, and simple progression this game is a diamond in the rough. Visual design – The visual design is minimal, sleek, and unique. We truly havent enjoyed a design so much since Gris released. It is creative and truly matches the pace and tone of the story. Sound design This is truly masterful! The soundtrack impacts at the right times, and soothes during low moments. It captures the feeling of the Nights Watch wonderfully without being overly cinematic. Game loop – This is likely our favorite part. Though the pacing is slow and rewards small, you can easily pick it up for 5 minutes and be done until later on in the day. It reminds us of Cozy Grove, forcing you to pace yourself through the story which we absolutely love. It allows you to truly play on the go and think through your choices. Paired with the visual and sound design, it is like a portal into a mother world. Story and Game Design – Absolutely brilliant. Wonderful, thoughtful, and compelling writing. Im not even a GOT fan and we absolutely love the chance to read these little, poetic novels. These days its so hard to find a text adventure game that truly delivers and this one does. It feels like a visual novel with aspects of rpg. The phrasing of the choices, as well as characteristics of your lord commander at the time, provide ample opportunity to weave tales. Pacing – As we mentioned before, we actually like the pacing. Several others have said it is slow or boring, but we are a fan of games which use real time and force you to absorb the story before bounding through. It gives you something to chew on. Perhaps having more options so those that want to go ahead can while the rest of us ease through the story? Overall – Big praise to the team that brought this game to life. We play everyday, multiple times a day, and have thoroughly enjoyed weaving the story. Thank you for keeping the app development world fresh and interesting. It is rare to find something so unique and enjoyable. In the midst of criticism, dont lose what you have created. Its thoughtful, interesting, creative, and unique. Thank you for such a wonderful story!

This game has a solid foundation and cool story mechanics, but gets a bit stale once you finish all the storylines. Would love to see this game expanded into an actual full console game where you can create your own Lord Commanders and run a Nights Watch sim with ranging missions you can join. Anyway, fun game, but little to no replay value.

Im gonna start off the review by saying Im a huge GoT fan (books) so anything game of thrones we love, and just to let anyone know ahead of time this isnt a cash grab or a conquest game with a GoT skin over it. Imagine a choose your own adventure game if the choices were very limited and the end results were all the same. The layout is intriguing and the UI is impressive but it definitely gets stale, especially when you have to wait 10-15 minutes for a 5 second choice only to wait 10-15 minutes again. Now it does give the affect of time passing which is nice but like others have said, it would be welcoming if a speed up option was implemented. Im still only 3 days into it so we’ve only scratched the surface but Im on our 3rd Lord Commander (youll understand that once you play the game) and from what we can tell the game starts off 9000 years before A Game of Thrones and possibly goes all the way to the current point but Im not entirely sure if thats accurate. If you liked the books and dont mind a wait, the game is definitely intriguing enough to keep it downloaded.

We are really enjoying this game. It would be great if this was a more complex resource strategy game. Good bones for what could be a great game.

Game is a bit of a stretch. Its kind of like an interactive choose your own adventure that you can only make a few decisions at a time before it pauses you. We cant explain it but we still have it downloaded and plan on finishing. On our 3rd commander now.

Firstly Id like to say its not for everyone. It is very slow paced and has little game to it but we really like it. If you are a person who can sit down and read a book for a good amount of time then you may be more likely to enjoy this for what it is. We also find it is a great way to calm down after a prolonged session of doom scrolling. To get to the point the way we were able to continue enjoying it was by giving each commander a different motive. In other words choosing answers that we really thought fitted them best even with the knowledge that our choice was maybe not the best one and seeing the consequences to our actions Lastly, a note to the devs: could you please stress the character dispositions a little bit more? When we are making decisions we will occasionally get an option related to their trait but mostly we feel that it does not largely effect the game. Otherwise it tells a beautiful and sometimes unsettling story and is worth being given a try. (Love the music!)

Been playing this game for a week and we love everything except the text at the top gets cut off where the dynamic island is and it sure would be nice if you could speed up the game but we understand that everything might progress too quickly to enjoy the game so maybe a paid feature??? Other than that the game is great and runs great!

We downloaded it because we thought our choices would make impact even small impact on the game world but beyond choosing like a new name to be king. Seems meaningless. Gets repetitive and honestly boring.

The UI and text size are awful the text is one of the main parts of the game but it takes as much space as the keyboard. It doesn’t use that space and uses about half of that area using text smaller than the smallest an iPhone can go to in settings. The missions have requirements where certain characters with different attributes perform better. The problem these show up dark blue on a navy background, making the game unplayable on most phones keep in mind we’re using a 13 not a small beast. This game to us could be fun if they just put effort into their UI.

The game makes you wait something like 5-10 minutes between every decision, of which theres only 4 types which dont seem to have any real consequence on the storyline of the game. It looks pretty but what a waste of time building this game, not to mention playing it.

No in game purchase option, no social incentive for attention/interaction. Just a half hearted effort by HBO to obtain rights to monitor you and send you notifications.

Been playing this game on and off for a while thinking something would happen eventually to our disappointment. 2 stars are simply for the art, its great. The game is a huge whatever.

Not really excited about playing this.

Aesthetically, its cool and evoked a management or city sim style of game. It is not that, which is fine, a cool idle narrative game can be a lot of fun; for instance check out The Yawg. Youre given a bunch of choices and characters, and events happen as you make your choices. This has all the promise but none of the deliver, we played for days and days, making choices accruing more and more characters and nothing happens. Like nothing. Maybe lose a character with zero fan fair, if youre not paying attention you wouldnt notice anyway. Its pointless and eventually you get the same scenarios and text with no progression or events. Im not even sure what the devs were going for or if they even finished the game or we ended up with a bug where its some kind of Groundhog Day scenario where nothing matters and no advancement can happen. Not worth your time.

We love the narrative quality if this game. You are the guardian of the realms of men GUYS! Helloooo this is fun. No its not action packed. Its not meant to be! Its a story and you control the narrative! Your decisions most certainly DO have consequences once you get far along into the game.

We really am enjoying playing it. It seems like it’s more of a retelling of the history of the Watch and less interactive. We’re a historian so we’ve thoroughly enjoyed it but we do wish some of the decisions made in game have more dramatic consequences.

Beautifully made but slow. Decisions overlap and repetitious gameplay gives a feeling of no control over what is happening. Overtime, it becomes boring as you are told to come back to the game, but most of the game repeats itself constantly, and the story line has no clear central path.

It looks great. It seems like it might get interesting. It never get interesting. Your choices have no consequences. Nothing happens.

This game isn’t fun, in fact it’s hard to see how one could call it a game.

This is an amazing game. Just download it and give it a try. We would love to see the different houses become available in the future!

Its not super engaging, but its fun to read and learn about the Nights Watch in this dialogue-heavy decision making simulator. The graphics are minimalistic and nice. The game is easy to navigate. For what it is, its nice. It feels like our choices dont really have meaning, though. Overall a good experience as a GoT fan.

This games biggest strength is its beautiful graphics, unusual format, and details into a part of this universe Id always wanted more from. Its biggest weakness is that your choices dont feel tangible we still have no idea if Im influencing what happens. We hope that they can update it to fix this, as we’ve spent a lot of time playing because we genuinely enjoy it despite the flaws.

This game has potential. Wish there was more to do, more to collect, more animation. Id like to see the outcomes of our choices.

The design is clean and we enjoy the gameplay itself, but it gets very repetitive while similar choices after a while. We think the storyline could be expanded to make this vastly more interesting.

Five minutes in and theres nothing to do other than go back and forth between two screens. Havent seen a hint of actual gameplay.

Decision consequences arent clear, you do like three things and then have to wait 30 minutes to continue the story, you cant bounce around realms without clearing your progress we’ve never seen a game that wants you not to play so much.

There are some cool parts of this choose your own adventure game – the music and dialogue feel very bleak and true to GOT style. However, there are some significant downsides. Because its a story game that is mostly text-based, its really disruptive that you have to wait so long for the next dialogue to happen (theres nothing else to do in game in the interim). Ill put the game away and then lose the thread of what the expedition was meant to do, etc. Its also not clear what real consequences our choices have. The length of time between dialogue makes the game a bit boring. Id prefer the ability to speed things up even if it makes the time to complete the game shorter.

And nothing else. You make no choices.

We have never written a review in our almost 20 years of life but this game is different. For starters, all these negative reviews remarking how boring it is or limited are vastly incorrect. Yes, it is a text strategy game and wont have you teetering off the edge of your seat overcome with shock or intense action but if you enjoy GOT lore, this is the game for you! Your choices earn you different nicknames as lord commander of the nights watch and you get to choose your own line of succession. Even the language is on par with GOT. Being able to fight the night king, Aegons dragons, a warg army was the immersion any true fan can ask for. Sometimes you fail, sometimes you conquer but you always get to determine how that era goes. A must play game for any true fan. Cant wait to play again and try to earn new names!

If you enjoy agonizing over dialogue options in games like Mass Effect or Skyrim, this is the game for you.
