Gloomgrave Reviews

This is one of the games youd wanna fire up when waiting for something while on your phone so perfect for what we use our phone for.

The game is fantastic and we would like to be able to have our iPad in landscape stand mode and play without holding up our iPhone the whole time.

Live this game, its great to play on our breaks. We wish it was longer/had more floors to explore.

Wow! This scratched the itch. Please add more levels and excellent music.

Really cant complain with this smooth, tight, and addictive dungeon crawler. A classic crawler in the vein of Eye of the Beholder or more recently Legend of Grimrock, Gloomgrave updates the formula with some fun rogue-like elements. This keeps the sessions short and fun, and makes every run feel fun and unique. Hoping to see more content soon, but so far, Im loving it!

The perfect game to kill some time with, given you have the focus for it as this game needs your full attention despite being turn-based. We love it and it plays to our meticulous and methodical play style. We just beat Rogue and am looking forward to the other classes. Amazing game you got here so far as we look forward towards its further development. Our only suggestions: – When a chest is opened, please have the marker of it on the map disappear as when we drop items on an opened chest, it still shows it as unopened. – Cosmetic unlockables with progression. Even though we dont see our player character, some neat little bonuses that are completely cosmetic for even failed runs is nice. – Selling would be neat but we think it was addressed you would add that in the future. Again, amazing as this was made by one person for the game and one for the music. Well done. Vinny recommended us here.

Really digging this game. Its easy to pick up, but punishing enough to stay interesting.

This is epoc game and is fun in the first person to riview dis gam.

Addictive gameplay, developer absolutely nailed style art and audio. As a long term fan of roguelikes, this is what dungeon crawling on mobile should feel like. Only suggestion we can give is theres got to be a cleric or mage class. Magic users are a little under-represented in the lineup. Hopefully you can find a balance in how to incorporate mana/magic to the gameplay.

Multiple classes, addictive loot upgrading, and simple combat. This game can be played in a spare moment easily since it saves your progress. We would gladly pay for DLC to unlock additional, more difficult levels.

Having a fantastic time with the game. This is our go to game when holding our newborn as he falls asleep. We love the challenging and rewarding gameplay that can be had with one hand. Looking forward to future updates.

Its a great game, we found this from a video posted by Splattercatgaming on YouTube. We really enjoy this game but it would be nice to be able to sell old gear or gear that you dont want.

After about an hour with the game, we can confirm two things: 1.) This game is hard, but in a good way if you like Roguelikes; and 2.) Its fun in a similar way to Cardinal Quest 2.

Its clear the developers put a lot of effort into this game. The graphics look astounding, the gameplay is fun, and the music is great!

We found this game through Reddit and love what the developer did with it. We havent played much but can tell it would be a wonderful time passer with no adds and addictive game play. Its also nice that you can set it down and pick right back up in a run. We havent played many games like this and it made us realize how much we enjoy rouge like games. Its totally worth it for the price with no persuasive in app purchases. The only con we’ve found is not playing it. For developer These are all suggestions, and we dont know how hard it would be to add them but the game is perfect right now (so dont feel obligated/urged). We got what we payed for and Im not qualified to tell a developer how to make their game. If we could change some things about the game it would probably be adding blue (or whatever color) squares on the map to see items youve interacted with. Maybe a difficulty level system (Eg. Sandbox, easy, medium etc.) or getting awards on the main screen to use on themes for the dungeon. Or maybe even adding a use for the exit button on the bottom left of the main screen. We also second the review that suggests the ability to sell at shops.

We were invited to beta test this game by the developer. The game is fun, good sound effects. Nice to pick up and play but can put it away when needed and jump right back. We would like to sell inventory items. We hate dropping stuff. But that is just us. Have made it to floor 5 one time. The game is tough. Kind of fun but also very frustrating. It is the game we go to a lot right now. Considering the Steam version as well. Would like a real Apple TV version that would be great.

The game holds up well, despite being 9 years old on the AppStore. Overall the combat is smooth, controls are simple, and the gameplay is fun for quick sessions. We do have some critiques: 1. The character select screen should allow you to swipe between characters as well as hitting buttons. 2. Going into the weapon management description feels like a lot of extra steps to check if our weapon is stronger or not than the others. 3. No real sense of story besides the quotes for each item. Overall Im enjoying play playthrough so far. Definitely worth the couple of dollars. Thank you for not doing in app purchases. Great game!

Wonderful dungeon crawl. We would give it five stars IF 1) you were allowed to sell your equipment at market. And 2) if you can turn off the slow final score reveal or tap-advance it.

Dont get us wrong, we like hard games but when Im dying to the first enemy then its really not too fun.

The game is pretty difficult, which would be no issue if it presented newer, exciting things/features the further down you went, but thats not really the case. The only things that change are the visual design of the levels and monsters, but the gameplay mechanics and everything else is the same. The most difficult aspect is dealing with hunger, since finding food is completely up to chance and can end your whole run if youre slightly unlucky. Overall, repetitive and highly difficult for low reward.

Why have there been no updates??? Most devs continually provide bug fixes and QOL improvements but this app is WYSIWYG.

Game is way too hard. Not enough ways to mitigate damage. Keep getting killed on floors 1-3 which is discouraging us from continuing to play it.

Great pick up and play light weight dungeon crawler. Lack Dev of attention is sad, game has potential. Needs: -add controller support -add landscape view -add sell option to Merchant Wants: -Color Keys to unlock doors on each level (Doom like) -Toggle ranged/melee -more level diversity.

An interesting premise; good on the idea, but poor execution: 1. No landscape mode which a game like this cries out for 2. No controller support (see above) 3. No ability to sell items 4. Ridiculous difficulty level 5. No ability to learn transferable skills (unlike some other perma-death games) 6. Too few levels / not enough interest on levels (altars, locked doors, secrets, )

Theres s good base of a game here, and its fun for a couple hours, but there is no reason to come back and play more after unlocking the few available characters.

Creator left game incomplete. No obvious method of roguelike progression, no indications as to achievements, and feels like it was left behind. No sales of accumulated gear or items (although promised on Reddit a year ago or so), yeah. Just kinda a nothingburger. Will happily change this review if the dev completes it someday.
