You are about to guide Maia on a treacherous journey where decisions aren't simply about life and death. The gods are watching Maia very closely, judging her behaviours, weighing her choices. Maia's mana is at stake in many of the moves she will make.
In the context of Guardian, 'Mana' represents Maia's personal and spiritual power, her will, her integrity, her inner strength. Episode One has three different endings depending on what Maia's Mana Score is at the end of the game.
Episode One begins outside a traditional Maori settlement in Fiordland, New Zealand. The people are protected by Guardians, and one guardian, Maia, is censured for her strange nature. While Maia lives outside the settlement, in the forest, her loyalty remains strong to her people as she protects them from hostile outside forces.

Episode One is part one of a duology. This is a hybrid historical/science-fiction story that draws on the mythology of the Maori culture in New Zealand. Guardian is also a global story and taps into the universal human need to belong and understand the mysteries of the world.

Community Insight:
Gaurdian Maya has better dialogue than most choose your own adventures. The Maori cultural elements offer a new kind of world and warrior, which was exciting. One small annoyance that we hope is addressed in part 2 is that the options overlap the text (on an iPhone) so you have to scroll up and down to catch the last few words.
Enjoyed both episodes. Very satisfying conclusion.
Engaging from start to finish, including countless options that will keep you guessing (and second guessing) every step of the way. Guardian Maia is as powerful as it is fun. Masterfully conceived, brilliantly executed.

It has a well-written, engaging story and exciting gameplay in an original setting. One of the most visually pleasing text adventures Ive seen.
First off we hate to read but this had us hooked the entire time. Its simply amazing. The only issue we have is when your choices pop up it blocks the story and its unable to read. Please try and remedy this before Chapter 2. Otherwise keep up the great work.
Im usually not a fan of choose-your-own-adventure stories, but this one was fantastic. Maia is an immediately relatable protagonist. We really cared about her to the point of worrying about how each decision would affect her fate. Even the villain is interesting and sympathetic. The story so far is a bit of a heros journey with a Maori twist. Looking forward to the next installment.
This game is amazing! We loved the thrill of being able to chose fates at one point we completely forgot that it wasnt real we were just sucked into a world of wonder.
No complaints! This was fun! We felt very immersed in the game. We also liked the little animations and the time spent to create all the characters. Looking forward to chapter 2.
So far it seems like an enjoyable story, but its almost too frustrating to play. Im not sure if the is an issue restricted to iPhone Xs or later, but the choice selections at the bottom of the screen cover up the text of the story. We cannot seem to find a way to avoid or fix this. It seems like a rather large oversight, and is quite irritating.
Great story and love the artwork. The issue of cut off text can be frustrating. With the team working on ep.2 we doubt well get a fix.
