What Makes Hakuoki Stand Out
“Hakuoki”- the otome game that has gained popularity not only in Japan but around the world, is now available in English!
The whole story is fully voiced in Japanese by popular voice actors, and the beautiful illustrations have been perfectly ported from the PSP version!
This work was the basis for the series' culmination, "Hakuoki Shinkai" which released in 2015.
The "Hakuoki" series started in 2008, and until "Hakuoki Shinkai" released, fan disks and anime have been created based on this game.

■Story
It is the end of the Edo Era, and the 3rd year of the Bunkyu Era…
The protagonist, Chizuru Yukimura, was raised in Edo and is daughter to a Rangaku scholar.
Having lost contact with her father in Kyoto, Chizuru decides to visit him.
There, Chizuru witnesses a Shinsengumi soldier killing a bloodthirsty monster.
By strange happenstance, Chizuru finds herself connected to the Shinsengumi, and the assassins desperate to kill them.
As time progresses, Chizuru will discover their terrible secret….
Tortured by their own thoughts, the men of the Shinsengumi wield their blades in defense of their faith and ideals, in an era torn apart by chaos.
Hidden in the riots that defined the passing of the Edo period, a dark battle within the Shinsengumi begins: A battle that will never be recorded in the pages of history…

In February 1867, Chizuru is asked to attend a tea party on Kondo’s behalf.
She accepts to go accompanied by the Shinsengumi warriors.

Its a really great game and to be honest we loved it from the beginning! The problem is we cant pay for the chapters and therefore cant continue playing. We would really love to suggest that you find a way to make the game available to those who cant pay for it like ourselves. If that happens we think more people would be willing to play this game. We personally hope for that because we really want to be able to continue playing and not have to delete this game because we really really like the story so far and would like nothing more than to be able to continue playing it. At the very least please consider this.
Why do we need to pay for chapters.
We purchased chapter 1 and its not showing up in our app. We paid for it twice and we cant play.
We accidentally bought this game while hooked up to our mothers credit card…. We live in fear every day, we should have confessed. It really was an accident, Ive always tried to buy games just hoping it would go through with no money…. It worked, and then we remembered that our mom accidentally hooked up her account to our phone… Ive been too scared to play the game… Im sure its great, so 5 stars.
We downloaded this game over a year ago, played through much of it, and loved it. We redownloaded it a few days ago to play it again and nothing happens. The screen goes black after the initial loading screen with Toshizo. Ive tried deleting and redownloading but it still isnt working. Just sad we cant play.
We dont like how the game is free and you have to pay for all the episodes.

It's a pretty good game. We own it on 3DS though, so paying for content here vs already owning it…we prefer to own.
Take a shot every time the main character says,"Um.".
We went in the game with skepticism but we're absolutely in love with these guys! We'd never thought we'd love Harada but he's just so adorable! We love it.
We honestly thought it was going to boring but we can't hate on this at all its one of the best games their is n it's well worth the money for any character.

Idea factory has some of the best otome norn 9 diabolik amnesia and hako will always have a special place in our heart the anime was good but we still love the original game with the beautiful art.
We have this story on our PSP and it is excellent. The story is rich and complex and the characters are engaging. The Japanese voice acting is well done and adds a nice added depth to the story. We HIGHLY recommend this story both to Otome and to Visual Novel fans. Amnesia:Memories is by the same company and we would highly recommend that story as well.
We just found out they have this whole thing on HuluPlus!! It's exactly like how it's written in this! We can't believe this we didn't want to buy the game we're so glad we can watch this anime instead it's 3 seasons long omg we're overjoyed.
We have no words….Hakuoki has left us utterly speechless. This is by far the best otome we've ever played by far. If you have any doubts about spending money, don't, this game is entirely worth the money and will keep you entertained for weeks. The art work, the very fabric of the story line is just…amazing.

Okay, Hakuoki has to be our favorite anime of all time, we've always loved all the characters, the plot, the artwork, the series, everything. It makes us sad that you have to pay so much to read the stories, but honestly to us it was worth it, although we only bought a small amount of stories, the main ones and Kazama's main chapter. It had very nice music in it, an introduction, and a really nice interface when playing. It had a dictionary to learn more about the time period it was set in and a picture collection you could earn while playing. It stuck to the main story (movie/episode series) while still involving different parts that weren't in the movies or episode series. We would definitely recommend this if you're willing to pay the money. It is pricey, but it is a really nice anime to get into and read.
Its good but theres not that much character development and you have to pay money every chapter, and for what in the first chapter we barely saw Saito( we chose Saito's route). Don't get us wrong its good but we thought it would be a faster development. And seriously paying moneh every chapter is ridiculous.
DO NOT WATCH THE ANIME IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY. It's BEYOND depressing and the ending actually made us regret watching it. Play the game forever, don't.. DON'T watch the anime. Heartbreak awaits.
So we really wanted to play this game and also Amnesia but the game crashes right after the intro song. It just goes to black screen without sound or anything. And this happens to both games. Can you pls fix it? We really wanna play it looks really fun.

We honestly would like to play this game, however the game always gives us a black screen after the introduction and then crashed about 6 seconds later. We simply can't give it a good review if we can't play the game.
We can't even play the game :( we were thinking about buying the game but not with these crash issues. Back to our ps vita.
First of all the game took forever to download (like 45 minutes), on top of that when it finally did download the game would black out right after the intro… We closed the game, waited and even shut off our phone but immediately after the intro the game just black screens and does not go back to normal. We can't even play this game how am we supposed to give it a good review.
After downloading the game, we were able to watch the intro song with now issues, however once that was over, the game loaded to a black screen with only a border at the top and bottom visible. There was nowhere for us to click to start the game. We even uninstalled and reinstalled to make sure. Really bums us out since we were really excited to try the game – especially after all of the great reviews. Maybe it's because we have the latest iOS.
The story is good and the graphics are excellent, but the game fails to save our progress. Does that mean we have to play it all in one sitting? We'd prefer not. Please fix the glitch.
We're in love with this game Finally an Otome game in English and it's not any otome game..we love the Japanese voice actors.. We already have finished Okita and Saito story line.
Owning this game for the PSP we wanted to replay it on a bigger screen through our IPad. It looks beautiful with more scenes to play through.
This is a really awesome game that we would recommend to anyone. What we don't like is when you have to pay to continue a new chapter. Other than that we adore this game! <3.
We were SO STOKED to see this pop up on our Facebook! We didn't even hesitate to get it, and we have already completed Saito and Okita's routes. We don't even care how expensive it is… They can have our money. We watched the anime probably two or three years ago and it still is one of our favorites. We appreciate how while it's a love story, it is NOT the main focus of it all. In our opinion this game has a really good ratio of romance and action/story. It has a lot to offer, and we do not regret spending our money on this. Lol. One thing we'd like to address is that we didn't get the Premium package at first because we wasn't sure if we'd really play all of the routes… We want to purchase it now, and it seems we can't figure out how. The link in the app redirects you to a browser page and then that redirects you to the App Store to get the Hakuoki app… It put us in a complete circle lol. We already spent about $20 and we wish we could get the option for the premium package again.
OMG! We love this. We were crying at the end of the game!! Please make a #2 game of this.

This game is perfect. One of the best ports we have ever seen to iPad for Otome. The audio is grand and the visuals are crisp and vibrant. It holds up to its PS3 counterpart in terms of story and quality, and is well worth the premium price for playtime and quality. Replay value is high for the different men and options and all romances are interesting. So in short 10/5 it's the Otome everyone is looking for when they want beauty, character, and story.
This is probably one of the best dating game apps we've ever played. The artwork, beautiful. The voices–we're actually just glad we get to hear them (we love the Japanese language <3). The one thing that made us utterly depressed was when we were done with the prologue. It offered the in-app purchase, and we were like, "Oh…" and because we can't pay for it ourselves, we guess we'll just wait or something. It's a bit awkward asking your parents to buy you more chapters on a dating game. Oh well, overall, this game is beautiful, and we hope it stays that way if we're able to buy the next few chapters or so. If you're ready to pay to get more chapters, it's worth it, even though we haven't even seen it ourselves.
We really love the artwork. The story line is engaging. The only down side…most of the romances are very slow to start. That and for some reason we seem to cry a lot. ;) we hope to see more. Wouldn't mind seeing a line for Shiranui. Great game.

Yes finally. One of the best otome games. This version is great because it comes at a deal price compared to the free version. Hopefully more otomate games will be translated and/or released to the iso store, im looking forward to it! Also to the troll who gave one star rating. How is it Hakuouki's fault you cant download it? Try clearing out your phone to clear more space.
The artwork and characters in this are fantastic! Leaving the voice actors is an extra bonus. But the way the characters interact and the way the artwork is done is fantastic! So yes we upgraded to the full price version. And to the person who complained about not having enough memory and for the company to accommodate you we recommend you to upgrade your machine or remove things from your machine.
First chapter was super fun And the art style is just amazing Thank you for bringing the game to app store. And looking forward for the rest of the games :).
We've seen the anime for this, the 3 seasons, and planning on checking out the movie. But it has always made us sad that the game was only available in Japan or in Japanese! Being a HUGE otome geek, the release of this has been the BEST thing so far in 2015! We cannot be any happier. – they actually kept the voices! – translation is on point and flows wonderfully. – interface is smooth. – Storyline is exactly what you expect it to be. But we've only finished the prologue for now so this review is to be continued! Regardless, thank you for releasing this.
Best otome game we've played yet! And if you like it too, you will want to continue after the free demo. It may be tempting since each chapter is only $2.99, but just just buy and install the premium version. It is cheaper to play all characters, which you need to get the full story, and it comes with an extra side story. Unfortunately this app does not have the option to purchase the full version.
We've been dying to play this game ever since it was officially released in America. When we saw that it had been made into an app for the iPhone we knew we had to buy it. So far it's a good game. We love the voice actors and the characters. The reason we didn't give it five stars is because sometimes we feel like it can be too drug out and too heavy on the history at times. We've also noticed that there was some liberty taken with some of the translations, which we guess isn't that bad, but it still bothers us a little. Overall it's a good game that we think otome fans should play if they can. We highly recommend buying the premium version instead of paying for each individual route. You'll end up saving a lot of money in the long run. We also recommend playing Harada's route. He's a sweetheart and he has a ton of squeal worth scenes.
We were completely enthralled from the beginning trailer. The detail and voices are phenomenal–the only problem we had was that after Ch1, we have to pay UP-FRONT $2.99 for the next three or four chapters…this is totally wrong for us. We don't accustom to put our personal card info for any Apple apps for justified fears and the fact that the Premium Version costs what…? $27.99–we think–is ridiculous. We love this anime–but no way would we pay that much for an app. Sorry. We give it 4 stars.

When we downloaded it it wouldn't it said we didn't have enough storage we had 2 GB. Of data and it wouldn't do anything we hope you'll fix it we're a very respected gamer and we wanted to play very badly.
