We love this game, the look and feel, and we grew up in Italy playing this game. However, its obvious when the AI says OK you won the last two, Im winning this one and it gives itself all the aces plus all the best cards and you can just tell there is nothing you can do once its decided its time for it to win. Frustrating. But good game with great potential.
It seems like a great app. We like it. There need to be a random car generator. Not a preset pack. Also, when playing in single player mode, your opposite partner (in competitive mode) should be dropping you the aces to secure those points if you are on a suit that he he does not have. Finally AI cheats you with impossible hands. It is strange that the opposition has so many similar hands as you….
Just thought I’d update our review to say after all these years the game is STILL fun and we play it daily. The developer keeps the game updated so you won’t lose it when iOS stops supporting older apps in the near future. *** Original Review *** we’ve had this game for a long time and it never gets boring. We appreciate the small details that make this game customizable and the developer is approachable. Whenever we teach Scopa to others, we always point them to this app as a way for them to keep playing.

After the last update of iScopa the orientation of the screen has changed from vertical view to horizontal which we find very annoying. It should give the option to the player to choose how to view the screen. We definitely don’t like the way it’s now and wish it could change.
We love scopa we always play this game with our wife it’s amazing game as they say nooo cheat.

This started out as a great game, and the developer has added in every single thing we could have wanted that was missing at the begining (statistics, matches, alternate rules sets). A very addictave game to play for five minutes or an hour. Very entertaining.
CAN YOU PLEASE RELEASE A VERSION OF THE GAME IN WHICH THE AI DOESN’T CHEAT?! It’s really frustrating, the app is so well made and yet it makes you nervous because the AI cheats. This cheating goes to unbeliavable extents! No need to give examples on what it does, just try to play and if you know the game you’ll see what we mean; it is laughable! It gets to the point we can predict what cards it’s going to play in most occasions, simply because the AI decides what cards to play out of ALL the ones left in the deck instead of the 3 cards in its hand, which "should" be given randomly! This is a discriminating aspect in rating this game 1 star or 5.
Such a pity. This little detail forces us to give the game 1 star instead of 5. The program would definitely deserves 5 stars, because it’s awesome! But if you have been playing the game since childhood and know it very well it takes a few rounds against the computer to understand that the AI totally cheats. Not only it cheats, it decides in the first place which games you are going to win. Scopa should be based on giving RANDOM cards to both opponents from a SHUFFLED deck, and then it’s up to them, their memory, and their knowledge of probability to play more or less well. Here there is nothing random in the way the AI serves the cards to itself. If you could please fix this absurdity, remove the difficulty option (which makes no sense in scopa) and make it a TRUE RANDOM game we would give it 5 stars, hands down! Good value anyway.
The UI is great. Unfortunately, the AI cheats. It’s very frustrating and ruins the experience. We wish the author would learn how to program properly.
The changes to the score board and added achievements were not necessary.
Like many others, we had never heard of Scopa before. Now we’re addicted. It doesn’t take too long to figure it out, and we played it until our battery died yesterday. We even ordered a set of "real" Scopa cards to play it with our wife offline. Nicely written, works great. If you like card games, try this – you’ll get addicted also!
This is a game that is reflective of the real thing. Good graphics and worth the money.
We are Sicilian and we have tons of Sicilian playing cards around but this game is perfect for on the go or if we want to play and we don’t have a deck of cards in our pocket. We it.
We were waiting for an iPhone version of this game! It is very well done, this game also respects all the original rules. The interface is very intuitive; it let you easily understand how to play, even if you don’t know exactly all the rules. We really appreciated that the author used Neapolitan card’s deck (I’m from that city, so we grew up playing Scopa using the same kind of cards.. ;-)). Cosmetically talking we have nothing to say, very nice also the (virtual) "piece of paper" where the score is reported… ;-) In our opinion, two things should be implemeted in a future build. The first regards the numbers indicating the score during the game; they are almost unreadable, the fonts used are two small. The second one is the possibility to know, during the game, how many "Scopa" each player has; at monent, this is impossible to know. Thank you! :)
We were born in Sicily, we have played scopa since we were a little boy. Our father taught us this game and we would pass the time playing with the Sicilian deck of cards. Not only is this game well done and lots of fun, but it also brings back fond memories of our family and childhood. Grazie.
We’ve played scopa for about 3 years now we found the game on a computer game as a side portion of the game. This App is excellent!! With each update it continues to out do itself! If your looking for a fun card game this we a must have!!

Thank you for this game. Brings us back to when our dad, grandfather and uncles all used to get together during the holidays and laugh, complain, and yell at each other while the wives used to try and calm them down. Great game play overall and we highly recomend. Suggestions: Add in game playing instructions Add in running score during game play.
We were doing a search for a different game when we found iScopa. What a great find this game was. We looked up the rules on the inet and it seemed like it might be fun. As it turned out we killed the rest of the day playing it. The more you play the more fun it becomes. We have already ordered some real Scopa cards off the inet so we can teach friends and play with four players. ‘s.
We first learned of this game while we were playing a "mystery game" we had downloaded from a popular game site. This card game was a "mini game (challenge)" that had to be beaten to continue in the aforementioned comp game. We thought it was a made up game, but decided to research it anyways. We WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE IT ACTUALLY EXSITED,not just as a card game, BUT IT WAS A DOWNLOADABLE APP FOR MY iPHONE!!! (the all CAPS represents excitement, not yelling) we this game!! For the graphics, ease of play, etc… Definitely !!!! Hooray !!!!!

This is by far our favorite game on our iPhone. It is engaging and never gets old. We can play anytime, anywhere when we need to pass the time. It’s as good as real Italian cards. Haven’t used the wi-fi feature yet, but will this summer when our son comes home from college, he loves this app too. Highly recommended, you’ll get more than your money’s worth of entertainment.
This game is worth it! We can’t wait until briscola comes out and the regional sets! Best 4 bucks spent ever!
We love this app! We find myself playing all the time. It had been a while since we last played scopa, but we were able to pick it up again easily with the app. Definitely worth the money! Fun card game!

We have to say that this game is addictive! We love the speed, sounds and graphic (great collections of card choices). We find myself playing this game for hours and our only negative thing about the game is that some of the cards are hard to decipher/translate. We’re not able to play all of the regional cards because we are unable to recognize what they are and their value. A translation or instructions would have greatly been appreciated.
We started playing this game on our friend’s iPhone. Fell in love with it! Just decided to buy it with this update that offered wi-fi. Two issues- 1 – we hate the way the cards now highlight to give us hints. One of our big accomplishments as a new player was when we no longer made the mistake of trying to toss a card, when actually we could take cards with it. These highlighted hints take all the interest out of learning what to play and how. 2 – our friend’s phone keeps freezing/crashing/tanking. Call it what you will. Be great when this stops happening! Bummer that nearly every game goes unfinished. Also, when that happens, our only option (when he disconnects) is to continue. Maybe "try to reconnect with player" might be nice. Anyway – none of this should be seen as negative – just letting you know how it’s percieved on this end. PS- how did you manage to get the computer to play this game with the skill and dexterity of generations of cheating Sicilian Grandmothers? Good show!
It was great. But when the ai discards it shouldn’t put cards on top of eachother. Also it was too expensive.
We’ve purchased a couple Scopa apps. This is OK, but Scopacards is much better. You can play with others live over the internet.
We have had this app for a long time and we love the game, but lately it always crashes when we try to get to the settings… We hope it fixes!!!! Can’t play anymore….
We’re from Sicily, carini. We grew up playing scopa in the streets of carini, with friends and just sometimes looking at old people playing it was fun, so anyway it’s been our life our culture and our childhood. We were expecting a little bit more for 4 bucks. It doesn’t give u an option to save before u get out. No ranking, u can’t play with other people. As far as we’re concerned we don’t need more sounds, but saving the game and ranking is needed, it’s a must. Lower the price too so more people will buy it we doubt a game that only Italians and few other know we’ll pay 4 bucks for it, but that’s just us. Hope we see once again ranking soon and the option to play, again, other players online if it’s possible one day, till then 3 stars it’s all u get from us.
There are several Briscola games for iPhone. Perhaps Scopa is harder to program, because its rule is more complex than Briscola. But we prefer to play Scopa. This game is nice overall. But the double-tap change of backgrounds is very annoying. Whenever we tap twice accidentally, the background changes to ridiculous sky or space pictures. BACKGROUNDS SHOULD BE CHANGED IN THE OPTIONS MENU! The overall quality of this game is not so good. Of course, the classic card game of Scopa is great. That’s why, we believe, many people think this iPhone game is great as well. But it is not. Consider numerous Poker and Solitaire games for iPhone: many of them has much a better quality than this game. And even the Hispanic card games for iphone, Briscas and Truco, have a better quality than this.
There are too many problems with this game. 2.99 is alot to pay for a game we can never finish. It constantly freezes and boots us out. The game overlays the screens sometimes. Im not sure if its just ours that does this. We want to give this APP a high rating, but the bugs are too much.
Whenever you try to click on the settings button! We wasted $3 ! You gotta be kidding us…
